Dharma and Moksh trikon

Dharma and Moksh trikon

Jyotish is a Vedang. Its only purpose is to help in the understanding of the Ved. We are not using even 1% of its capacity in the current times by using it for predictions related to material life.

I have written on the interaction of the Dharma and Artha trikon in this post. Now let’s discuss the Dharma Moksh connect. The Dharma trikon is the power of the combined 1st 5th and 9th houses and the Moksh trikon is the power of the 4th 8th and 12th houses.

Your ‘body’ is actually a combination of the physical – sthool, the subtle – sookshma and the causal – karan sharir (post here). The physical body is destroyed once in every birth/ death cycle. The subtle body is destroyed once every Pralay and recreated in the next era. And the causal body / karan sharir, ie ‘ignorance without a beginning’, is destroyed only when the final moksh is achieved. With the destruction of the casual body, the cycle of birth and death is also destroyed, true knowledge dawns and the jivatma realises itself as the Paramatma. This is what Sanatan Dharma aka Hinduism is all about.

The Dharma trikon is the power of the personality, it represents the energy which powers you. The three houses of the Dharma trikon also represent this three layered body.

  • The physical body and the physical environment that you are placed in is defined by the 1st house, the Lagna bhav. If you have positive influences on this house then you will be attractive, be placed in conducive surroundings also take care of your body, physical appearance and also maintain your surroundings in a pleasant manner.
  • The 5th house is the house of genius, creativity etc but it also the power of Mantras, of mantra siddhi. Mantras are basically intelligent tools used to channelise the mind, so we can consider the 5th house to represent the subtle body. If you have auspicious planets here then you will do mantra pujas, work on improving your mind, learn positive Sanskars, be strong mentally, have a strong aura etc.
  • The 9th house is the house of poorva-punya, ie the merits available to you which you have accrued in your past lives. These manifest in your life in terms of timely luck, as blessings from your Guru/ elders/ Kuldevata/ etc, as timely support from your seniors in your society, etc. You have no control on this luck, this help, that you receive, these might seem to be random events but in fact these are manifestations of deep impressions which are connected to the causal body or karan sharir. Positive influences here help in easing out life and its unpredictable issues.

The Moksh trikon is the power of dissolution.

  • We are generally aware of only the 8th house as it is the house of physical death. Using the power of the 8th house, the physical body is reduced to the panchamahabhoot and the jivatma with its baggage of karma moves on to create a new body. Here the resources of the 9th house are utilised to propel the individual soul into its new life. The 9th represents the infinite store of merits and creation of a new physical body naturally consumes energy from this resource.
  • Some of us study the 12th house as the house of losses. This is a tricky house to analyse as most of its ‘losses’ are perceived as physical and mental stress. Here you are required to consider disappointment in the world as a route to the Self/ Vairagya. If you cannot do this, then you will suffer mental issues like depression which will have their effect on the physical body too. If you can do this, then you will achieve the state called ‘manonasha’ which is an important step in the route to Moksh. This is accompanied with reduction in the attachment to the physical body. Obviously the power of the 1st house is used up for the significations of the 12th house to manifest. The limited self-ego needs to be annihilated so that the universal Self can shine through.
  • And rare few of us study the 4th house as the house of the deepest connection to the origin or the house of deep rest or the final house of moksh. Analyse the charts of the Atmajnyani Mahapurush to see how the 4th house indicates the dissolution of the causal body. Moksh is when the karan sharir is completely burnt by the fire of knowledge/ Jnyan and the Paramatma shines through. This requires a strong 5th house as the resources you accumulate here will be used to destroy the causal body.

Here are some pointers to gauge the spiritual progress or promise of moksh in a chart.

  • First is the compulsory requirement that the Dharma trikon be strong enough so that the personality has the strength to endure through the destruction of its subtle and causal bodies before the physical body is destroyed. Moksh is possible only when the subtle and causal bodies are both destroyed in one physical lifetime. A powerful Dharma trikon ensures that the power generated by Mantra and the blessings of the Guru are properly utilised by the personality to evolve spiritually. Also it gives the final realisation that the Personality/Surrounding Environment = Mantra = Guru = Paramatma which is Moksh. Once Moksh is realised, the individual body, the surroundings, the mantra and the Guru are all resolved or dissolved into the Paramatma.
  • Then the Sanyasi or Tapasvi combinations where the energies of Vivek and Vairagya are created.
  • A strong connection between the 4th and 12th or 5th and 12th or 9th and 12th houses is essential.
  • Presence of cruel planets/kroor graha especially in the 12th indicate that karmic ties on the subtle body are weak. Moksh is possible if there is a fine balance between the disturbances in life and the capacity of the personality to endure through them with the help of vivek and vairagya.
  • The ascendant lord has to be strong, so that the personality and the environment can work together in the most harmonious manner and resonate with the Eternal.
  • Moon is generally seen to be under the influence of the chart specific-malefics or cruel planets. This ensures that the mind is dissatisfied with the material world and finally seeks to fulfil its longing by perfectly reflecting the Eternal.
  • Look for the role of the Sun in the chart and especially if he has any relationship with the 4th 9th and 12th.
  • Rahu and Ketu have to have a strong role in the chart. For regular humans, Rahu and Ketu are the winds of time which twist the chakras, nadis and the pran flowing in them out of shape. But for those individuals who have combinations for Moksh they take their gloriously correct places, Rahu at the Ajnya and Ketu in the Sahasrar.

Most people around you are aware of only their physical body. Very rare people will be aware of their sookshma sharir and extremely few will even understand what the karan sharir means. So in your practice or in your sample charts only the 1st – 8th house dynamics of physical birth and physical death will be relevant for 99% of your clients. But, for that rare 1% client and also as as a Jyotishi, you must understand that this Jyoti really illuminates the Ish.
