The Dharma trikon is the 1^st, 5^th and 9^th houses of your birth chart. These three houses represent the foundations of the life. They represent the potential that you have with you in this present birth, your scope for personal growth, evolution and overall progress. If you analyse these three houses subjectively, the 1^st house is obviously a summary of your present birth. The 5^th house which lies in the dark half of the chart, can be considered to be the summary of the immediate past life. And the 9^th house which lies in the bright half of the chart can be considered as an indication of the immediate future life that you will take up after this current one. The 9th is the main house of Dharma so as a rough approximation, the Dharma trikon is how you use actually your 1st house to harness the ability of the 5th house to gain the results promised by the 9th house.

The Kama trikon is the 3^rd, 7^th and 11^th houses of your chart. Here you choose your path and act. The 3^rd house creates options and provides the boldness to choose and follow the correct option. Eg, if it is money you want, then the 3^rd will allow you to gain from trading and financial instruments. The 7^th is all those desires which consume your personality, it is all the one to one partnerships which you get into in your life. But these are not emotion based random events but are rule based relationships. The 7^th has the potential to give you benefits from business and all types of legal and equitable activities. And the 11^th is the house of interactions with minded groups, multitudes and all the gains that you get on every level. Of these three houses, the 3^rd and 11^th houses are upchaya houses, the results they give improve with age and maturity. You can influence the results of these houses by your actions. Overall the kama trikon is your power to move and to set things in motion. The 7th is the main house of the Kama trikon, so as a rough approximation, you use the power of the 11th house to harness the abilities of the 3rd to gain what your 7th promises.

The Dharma and Kama trikon are complementary, their houses placed opposite to each other. The 1^st – 7^th , 3^rd – 9^th and 5^th – 11^th are mirrors for each other. One half of each of these axes is the potential, the Dharma and other half is the Kama. The potential and the kinetic. Or the latent and the expressed tendencies. Or the cause – consequence of each other. The 9th is the consequence of the actions taken in the 3rd. The 11th gains are a consequence of the genius and creativity of the 5th. And the 1 -7 are the simultaneous cause and consequence of each other.

Let’s analyse the 1 / 7 axis, the self v/s the mirror.

If the 1^st house is more auspicious compared to the 7^th house then you will use more of your personal power and ensure that your partnerships are favourable for you. You may take the initiative in your relationships, businesses or equitable partnerships. Or you may dominate your partnerships or perhaps ignore the partner. In a way, your partner is not very important to you. Or this may also mean that you are not really into relationships as you are satisfied being with yourself.

If the 7^th is auspicious but the 1^st is not, then this means that whoever you get into partnerships with will go out of their way in helping you. The other person will contribute more for the common purpose. The marriage or business partner or your spiritual practice will support you much more than you’d normally expect.

If both 1^st and 7^th are both incapable of auspicious results then you will be stuck in unfulfilling relationships, failed businesses and also not very inclined towards spirituality. You might not be inclined to work on these aspects of life, ie you will prefer to endure through the painful karma indicated by the 1 – 7 house dynamics.

And if both 1^st and 7^th are equally good then it will be very beneficial. This elevates the power of the chart in all ways. All partners will help you in several ways and you too will be able to reciprocate and use their energies in the best possible manner. Money, contacts, fairness, balance in life, one-one relations with others and the Self are all supported in charts with such a favourable 1 – 7 axis.

The 5/11 axis can also be considered to be an indicator of selfishness v/s selflessness.

If the 5^th house is strong but the 11^th is not then you will be able to leverage your personal genius but will be unable to deliver it to the greater audience. You might be very highly intelligent etc but you will not be able to convert this ability into tangible gains. eg someone I know has an exceptional ability at math, the last time I saw him, he was busy calculating proofs for the theorems from the Ramanujan notebooks, but he is not recognised in any way for his exceptional intelligence.

If the 11^th is stronger than the 5^th then you might be a mediocre personality but you will able to project your medium level talents into the general public. The best example of this sort of combination would be the talentless ‘celebrities’ who somehow manage to remain firmly in the media glare.

If the 5^th and 11^th are both inauspicious then you neither have the creative potential nor the ability to convert it into anything much. A dull personality who is neither known nor recognised for anything in life

And if both 5^th and 11^th are both equally strong and capable of favourable results, then it is one of the best possible combinations. You are a genius and you know how to use your abilities in the best possible way to gain in every aspect of your life.

The 3/9 axis indicates how your courage and your luck works together.

If the 3^th house is stronger than the 9^th then, this can create a personality with lesser ethics and more ambition. You will not stop at anything to get what you want. You have the stamina and the necessary boldness for achieving your desires and you will achieve them by hook or crook.

If the 9^th is stronger than the 3^th then you have a keen sense of right/wrong. You know that you have that spark of timely luck which will help you so are more laid back, soft and philosophical. But do remember that philosophy is not a substitute for practical boldness.

If the 3^th and 9^th are both less than average then you do not have much ambition in life and are content to live a mediocre life.

And if both 3^th and 9^th are strong and capable of favourable results, then you are capable of much. You have the necessary clarity of ideas, concepts, you know how to do things so that they succeed and also the personal courage to act.

The Dharma Kama interaction is how you use the power of your foundations in various ways to move through life. If you are aware of this interaction then you can better realise your full potential. If in least one of these three 1/7 or 5/1 or 9/3 axes, both the complementary houses are equally powerful then you are an extraordinary individual, someone who will make a significant mark in the world in some way or the other.
