Astrological predictions Lunar eclipse Mar 2024

Last Updated on October 30, 2024 by Tejaswini

An astronomical event, an eclipse is coming up on March 24 – 25, 2024. On this day the Earth’s shadow will cast a very faint shadowing effect on the full Moon. This is on the Phalgun Purnima, the last full Moon of the last month of the Vedic year Shri Shobhanakruti. This is the day we light the Holi with the intention that all our negative karmic fruits burn in the mantra charged Agni and we start the new year which will start after 16days with a fresh mind.

Partial or total Lunar eclipses which are umbral eclipses have powerful energies. This one on 24-25 March 2024 is the penumbral one so has very little astrological significance. We are not required to do any eclipse specific pujas on this day. But still it is a deep interaction of the illusive forces – Rahu and Ketu with the luminaries – the Sun and the Moon. Thus it will have some effect on the current events unfolding in the world.

This penumbral eclipse will go on for 04 hours 39 minutes.

Screenshot 2024-03-17 at 6.15.10 PM

It is visible in North and South America, east Australia, Antarctica, Japan, New Zealand, western parts of Africa, Europe etc. It is not visible in India. (The map has been taken from the timeanddate site.)

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

The global level readings are applicable everywhere. But the personal /individual readings are applicable only to those people who will witness the eclipse, ie live in the towns which will see the eclipse. The duration of the effects will be for as many weeks as many hours the eclipse was visible at your town. And for the global level, the effects will wear out in about 4-5 weeks after the eclipse.

Astrologically, the penumbral lunar eclipse is in Virgo sign, Kanya rashi. Moon is with Ketu. Mercury, Sun, and Rahu are in the opposite Pisces sign, Meen rashi. Mars is aspecting Moon and Ketu in Virgo with his harmful 8th aspect. Mars is with Saturn and Venus in the Aquarius so they are also indirectly involved. Mars with Saturn is an extremely troublesome energy. And Saturn with Venus is a weirdly push-pull type of energy which generally causes trouble. Jupiter is not connected to the eclipse energy but he remains aspected by Saturn.

If you have your birth Moon or even the ascendant sign in Virgo or Pisces you will start feeling the effects from 1 week before the eclipse. You might feel as if your life has gone out of control. Sudden and unexpected events will put you off your established routine. There might be additional work load in the office, sudden travel, unexpected expenses, change of job/ residence etc. Both, Virgo and Pisces are the most sensitive signs of the zodiac and anything happening here affects the entire chart in some way or the other. And all this is building towards the massive solar eclipse on Phalgun Amavasya which is the ‘darkest’ no moon of the year, also the last day of the Vedic year Shri Shobhanakruti. If you are born in the Rohini Hasta and Shravan Nakshatra/ lunar mansions or are in a dasha period controlled by the Moon then too the effects will be more pronounced on you.

For our nation Bharat/ India, the general elections have been declared. Both the penumbral Lunar eclipse on Phalgun Purnima and the Solar eclipse on Phalgun Amavasya will be on during this time. Thankfully Bharat is not going to witness either of these eclipses, so there will not be any direct effect on us. But as an indirect effect, we will see some surprising events during and after the election. Unexpected changes in the political dynamics are very much possible. Unexpected candidates might win, unforeseen coalitions and post election activities will keep things interesting.

On the global levels, the wars, conflicts etc will continue. But these nations and especially those who will witness the eclipse will see sudden and unexpected change in the intensity of their conflict events. Sudden manoeuvres by the opposition, unexpected changes in sides and violent escalation of the hostilities is possible. The Ukraine and Russia war will escalate and both nations will pay the price now. Till now Russia was somewhat insulated by the planets but now it should be alert. And the rest of the world with also suffer with them. Europe and USA are involved and they too will face overt losses. USA has witnessed huge eclipses in the past year especially the Oct 2023 solar eclipse was massive. The negative influences are evident in the news from this nation. The current March – April 2024 eclipses are also focussed on USA so the negativity will intensify. And then they will spill their imbalance on the world. It is all a preparation for the Saturn Rahu conjunction in Pisces in 2025 which will be very turbulent.

This eclipse is a trailer for the major solar eclipse on Phalgun Amavasya. Weather fluctuations are the beginning, but later this will also create internal fractures, social issues will come to the surface and more importantly finances will be negatively affected. Added to the eclipse mix is Saturn with Mars in Aquarius which is doubly dangerous.

Very briefly, the predictions for the Birth Moon signs. These will be for about 1 month after the eclipse, ie till about mid April 2024.

Aries borns will have stress but there is a possibility of their enemies self-destructing in this time. Do not take new loans or engage new staff in this time. Read twice before signing any papers.

Taurus borns will argue with their family and loved ones. You will feel indecisive internally. As this is the March end so this mindset may affect your finances. But some new opportunity will come your way, so choose and act wisely.

For Gemini borns, the mother, residence, cars, driving all are potential sources of stress. You will be swamped with office work. One good point is some unexpected income if birth chart supports.

Cancer borns will argue with their siblings. You will not feel confident about expressing yourself. Be careful if your work involves actual skills with tools, machinery etc. Doing pujas of Kuldevta in this time will add to your merit balance.

Leo borns will face issues with close family, elders may cause concern and savings can diminish. Unexpected health issues are possible. Office will give overwork. Those engaged in occult /spiritual activities will get some secret gains.

Virgo borns will face the brunt of the eclipse energies as above. It is a good time to increase the intensity of your spiritual activities. A pain on the material can often translate to a gain on the spiritual.

Libra borns will have problems at work. Interference from the astral dimensions will deny genuine rest. However your enemies will be under control so you will gain in the long term.

Scorpio borns will get some respite from their financial problems but still saving money will be difficult. Children will cause stress.

Sagittarius borns will be busy in office. But you will not get the credit for what you do right. Instead your teammates, boss and subordinates will blame you for everything that goes wrong. At home too lack of support will keep you stressed.

Capricorn borns in the 3rd phase of the Sade sati. Problems are going to continue. But now you will take it calmly and turn to your source of faith for support. Things will improve but slowly.

Of all the zodiac signs, Aquarius is currently the worst affected it is in the middle phase of the Sade sati. And Mars, Venus, Saturn here are messing with your life. Do your daily pujas and pray to your source of faith to be with you in this time.

Pisces borns will face the eclipse energies as above. It is a good time to increase the intensity of your spiritual activities. You are in your first Sade sati phase and the eclipse will add to your stresses. So find some way to increase your mental strength.

These eclipse predictions for each zodiac sign depend on the birth horoscope, the dasha and transits operating in your personal life. If these are going well for you then the eclipse energy will create minimum disruption in your life. There are challenges and also some opportunities in the time ahead. But do use the energies mindfully to minimise disruption and to gain in life. Life is an interconnected web of events and the signs and planets serve as markers on our journey. Use these astrological principles as a guiding light and try to keep your mind clear so that you can rise to the challenges and capitalise on the opportunities.

I will write on the New year, Shri Krodhi in the next week if possible.
Several astronomical/ astrological events are happening back to back. Currently the rate of change is very high.

I’d like to know your thoughts about that date when all 9 planets were involved in a lunar eclipse i.e on 4th of February 1962. Ma’am do you believe that it trigged various geopolitical, nuclear (glad it didn’t happen) or change of any major world order or wars or any shift in the spiritual plane ? whats your take on of that day

        Thank you

Thank you for wonderfully crystallizing the essence of the time to come and your wisdom. There is an image of Kalki on the white horse. Is there any significance of this image and the time to come – which may be a beginning of the long millennium wide shift ?

Interesting. A week ago I started having problems with a new home situation involving the adoption of a new dog. Moon with ketu in pisces, currently in moon dasha. I know animals are not important to a lot of people but maybe I feel moved by them because I have moon in revati. The new dog is not getting along with my other dog and though the easiest solution is to take him back, I feel torn about taking him back to a very chaotic animal shelter where it came from. I’ve heard that ketu symbolizes dogs and rahu all animals – not sure how far this is true. This is adding to my fear of taking the wrong decision. My first dog is my only companion in a foreign country and he’s really good at supporting my lifestyle currently, including my sadhana. For the last few months he has been sitting in front of my puja shrine when I’m sleeping, and whines.

My astrologer didn’t take it seriously when I asked if she could look at why he was suffering. I got him a friend hoping he would be happy but it has exacerbated his anxiety. I pulled tarot this morning, and got The emperor, five of wands and judgement. My understanding is that a decision has to be made and there’s no stalling. My sadhana is suffering as my sleep is disturbed.

      Hi there
keeping animals is a karmic thing. or even for houseplants and for kitchen gardens.
some of us choose to balance the karma in this way and some don’t.
      both ways are fine.

now this is my personal observation.

dogs, cats, cows, etc should not be kept inside the house, ie indoors all the time. ie if you have a house with a back/front yard then they should have their own house here.
ie they should be able to go out into the natural environment outside the house whenever they want to.

i wrote about the energy of cats and their energy preferences here.

      https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2018/11/26/ley-lines-and-cats/
cats need a source of negative energy to feel really happy. they need to go out.
on the other hand like in my friend’s house, if the negative source is in your home then its not good, you need to clean it out. cats happy inside a house is a danger signal.

dogs are a fierce energy. they are called Bhairav, ie they are the embodiment of Bhagwan Kaal bhairav who is worshipped inside Shmashans / Hindu cemeteries.
they interact with entities. eg on purnima, amavasya, pitrupaksha, typical times you will see a change in their behaviour. they should have access to the outdoors to fully do what they do. if they are cooped inside the house all the time the energy of the house will become fierce and not very suitable for the humans who live there.

we are required to feed them on certain days. and I do this. the dogs around where i live are semi wild, they are called bhutia in the local language, this means ‘ghostly’. the ideal type from my point of view.
in fact when my son was small i would never allow him to go out in the lawns alone in the evening. coz there is frequent movement of wild dogs and leopards around my house.

So you had a good powerful routine, then it got highly disturbed coz a fiery energy and now you have to decide.
choose if you can live with the disturbance. or if you want to get to a settled routine.

Thank you for your very generous response, Tejaswiniji.

Everything you said makes sense. Ever since I read your post on cats I have been observing them around cat lovers. I have cat allergies and they also don’t approach me.

I love that you feed bhutia dogs. My older dog has free access to the back yard and he loves to hangs out in the yard all day, coming home only to sleep at night. I have wondered about why he does this but your response helps me a lot. The new one is too scared to go outside on his own so I take him out but he runs back home as soon as he relieves himself. I see now how that’s a problem.

I have a sri yantra that I worship at my shrine, given to me a few months ago by my uncle who has taken up sanyas. So, I want to be mindful of the energy at home. Quite a few house plants that have flourished for years have died since bringing home the yantra. All of them were given to me as presents or bought by my ex husband so I suspected there was an energetic cleansing going on.

Thank you, again! I learn so much from you. I charge my own black threads using your saptasloki post. Looking forward to more YouTube videos!

      Hi there
Of the languages spoken in Bharat, Marathi, the actual Marathi that is spoken at home (not the hideously distorted version spoken in movies) is the closest to Sanskrit.
And not saying this coz i am frm Maharashtra.

      Hru is the correct pronunciation.
The sides of the tongue are lifted upwards.
      Its Krushna Rhushi

I wrote a post on the maheshwar sutrani. In that i have recited them with the correct pronunciation

      1. Harshala Avatar
        Harshala

Thank you mam, I did verify with maheshwar sutrani post too, before writing to you. My grandpa used to say Krushna, but rest of all the family including me would pronounce it as Krishna. Today I was reading book from Dr. Shri Balaji Tambe on purusha suktam. Mam, a follow up question, I have seen in you tube videos with lyrics having special horizontal and vertical lines

It it essential to pronounce the mantra this way, or else will it not be beneficial? I have seen sri sukta too having such line and extended pronunciation, where needed. I’m not aware of these line and it’s importance in pronunciation.
        Please guide.

      2. astrologerbydefault Avatar

        Hi there

ri is not the correct pronounciation – it has R and I sounds – different energy, it sounds shrill and superficial to my ears.

its actually a bit of R H U sounds mixed – there is a different depth and gravity to this sound.

this way of recitation is the actual Vedic style. every sound is stressed for a particular time frame. All vedic mantra/ ie Rk are actually recited like this.
and if u are doing this type of recitation then you also have to show the accompanying hand postures / mudras.
        this is taught in gurukuls.
and this level of vedic paath is the domain of people who wear yajnopavit sutra, wear a shikha and do regular Gayatri puja. Earlier men and women both would do this. now only men do, and limited to only a few families.

the efficiency of the mantra is enhanced multiple times when this is done.
once i had gone to Shri Gopeshwar temple and i witnessed a Maharudra being performed by some 30+ genuine Brahmins who had come from Kashi to do the pujas. they were doing the proper recitation plus hand postures. it was unbelievable, simply unbelievable burst of power..

but mantra done in any way is beneficial. just do it will full sincerity

      3. Harshala Avatar
        Harshala

Thank you mam. Sincerity….at times I get frozen, though I know the meaning of sincere, my mind feels like do I have to know something more in this word! Because ,I feel sometimes, to not do Pooja or parayana or nama japaa, then another mind pokes and says that the chain of efforts will be in vain, if I fail to do so, It means I don’t have sincerity but I have fear…..

        Namaste mam,
Made time from office work and other stuff and read all the guided posts that you suggested. I felt surrendered to every word of your post “forgive yourself to heal yourself “. While following the steps, I felt a lot of black arrows coming out of me and spindle of white threads were covering me like a surgical bandage, I think I should repeat it many times. Filled eyes were my samarpan to the words in that post. You are blessed mam, to guide and address things that I can’t manage or oversee. Thanks for your kindself to guide me to realise something good for me.

My moon is in Aquarius, so it’s Saturn house (though there is no aspect of Bhadakesha Saturn on moon, my moon is in Saturn’s house), 6th from moon is Cancer(4th house from Ascendant), so my home -tests/behaves such that it gives a feeling of hostility to me. My Lagnesha Mars is with ketu in 10th from moon in, Scorpio, with 4th aspect on Moon, I felt he is friendly to moon, but looks like he is adding aggression in him from my office work. In 7th from moon sits sun+mercury : hmm.. I don’t know how to analyse this. May be its one of the reason for a divorce.

One thing I know is My moon belongs to Pournami thithi and stays in same place in Navamsha, so finally I get strength from feminine aspects like I speak to mom on what made me sad and she gives me a direction. My sister too tries to calm me when I’m aggresive and , I write to you or the words in your post gives a direction, I talk to my only friend and it feels nice, Sree Rama (though suryavanshi) quenches the pain in my heart, when I ask him to help.

Mam, another question, if the ashtakavarga score is higher for the Ascendant sign say 30+, does Sadesati affects the Ascendant sign during transit? Or is Sadesati only for , Saturn’s transit wrt moonsign?

      7. astrologerbydefault Avatar

        Hi there

you have to analyse your chart for yourself.

that means when the saturn will transit thru that sign he will give more useful results. more planets will support him in giving his results.

    Hello Maam,

Not sure if this is the right place to post this question.

Can you please guide me with these? I am seeing lot of controversy around it on the internet.

    1) Which Siddhant should we use? SURYA or DRIK?

    2) Which Ayanamsa should be followed? Lahiri/True Lahiri/Pushya Paksha etc

    3) What option should we select in astrology software for planetary calculations? For exampl JHora. We use geocentric or topocentric? Dasha dates change from several days to months when changing between these two options.

Please enlighten with your divine knowledge.

    Pranaam.

      Hi there

      1. surya siddhant. i have written a post on this book. it is the foundation.

      https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2019/04/23/graha-from-the-suryasiddhant/

but i do not see any good software for this so i use drik panchang.

      2. Lahiri – whatever he did correctly or incorrectly, he got the value right.
the really great Jyotishis whom i follow eg CS Patel use this.
and it has given me acceptable results

      https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2023/07/19/unequal-houses-and-math-in-astrology/

      3. topocentric.
the time and place is all important.
i also use True Rahu Ketu not the averaged out mean values. the exact time with the exact position of the planets is important, not an ‘average time’.

      another thing
the birth time tht you will get will always be approximate. no one has their real exact birth time.
so your clients will always have a wrong birth time.
Correcting these values and then calculating and predicting — all in 1hr session is impossible. and for their level of Q you do not need this level of accuracy.

JHora was quite good earlier. but now i think the developers should try for a new version. too many options/ permutations combinations has made it confusing. they can make it a paid app or crowdfund or something so that they can also pay the developers for their time. things given for 100% free cannot be realistically maintained over the long term.

Thank you so much for the detailed response Maam. Really appreciate it. There is so much debate around these points, it is hard to find a standard convention.

If I may ask a follow up question: As you mentioned that there is lot of emphasis on the actual position of planets from the place of birth and at the time of birth, wouldn’t following DRIK siddanth make much more sense? As here the planetary positions are confirmed by modern planetoriums? Like NASA?

Also, Lahiri ayanamsa is closest to ideal, but then why was True Lahiri introduced? Isn’t True Lahiri exactly fixing the spica at Chitra and then pointing 180 degree opposite towards the start of cosmos?

And finally, yes JHora is getting it complicated to use. Was researching on new subscription based tools. However eternally thankful to PVR Narshimharao Ji for giving out such a wonderful work to astrology community for free for so many years.

      2. astrologerbydefault Avatar

        Hi there

i use the traditional Lahiri and not ‘true lahiri’ .
i do not have much info on who has calculated the new ‘true lahiri’.
the Jyotishis i look up to have used Lahiri and it has worked for me too.

and as i have said, this discussion is immaterial for most of your clients. their birth times will be off by 5-10mins at the minimum.

the graha / nakshatra are not the physical planets /satellites/ stars etc.
these physical objects are an approximation of something physical connected to the graha.
graha are conscious forces. plus they have a ‘true value’.

our Bharatiya time/ Jyotish is always based on true/ exact and not mean /averaged motions.

three things – Ganit Gol and Sanskrit are essential.
Telescope readings/ Gol are not the final say. math/Ganit has to match. and also sanskrit /texts have to match.

i will give only 1 simple example.

eg our ahoratra is not 24hrs. dinmaana and ratrimaana and the duration of the ahoratra requires math.

24hrs is the unintelligent artificial mean value which cannot be used in Jyotish.

        the basic foundation of Jyotish.
        – is exact time and the exact place.
no averages, no means, no approximations, no generalisations.

i cannot teach the siddhantic concepts in a comment nor in a post.
but do read. you will get it yourself.

      is the house of creativity

once you have made a mantra siddh,
first your own issues will get resolved,
then the people close you will ‘magically’ see their issues resolving.
the stronger your siddhi is the more farther away people will also feel the positivity.
once you reach that subtlest level of the mantra, you by your mere presence will add positive energy to the entire universe,
at this stage you will be a Satguru, an Atmajyani Mahapurush.

so do your chosen mantra. pull it inside the very core of your being. see what it shows you and enjoy the journey and the goal..
