Twilight is the realm of the between’s, neither day not night, a bit of both. It just like two watercolors mixing, the color you get contains these two but in itself something new. So what do you get when you mix the energies of the day and the night?
In India, 45minutes before and after sunset/sunrise is cosidered to be the sandhyakaal/twilight. This time is an ideal time for doing sandhyapuja, gayatri puja, Yadnyas/fire rituals, worshipping the Sun, giving arghya to the Sun, agnihotra is the most important one, but even marriages are performed at the evening twilight. You can do your energy work in the twilights, either for taking in positive energy or for letting out negative energy.
During this twilight the energies of the other dimensions also merge with our world, so it is possible that you may sense or see ghosts, spirits and other dimensional beings during this period. In places where human disturbances are limited, eg small hamlets in the forests, mothers do not allow the young children out and especially women don’t go out with their hair unbound.
In Sanatan Dharm, the Light ज्योति is considered to be the the divine principle of life and source of intelligence. This light is as simple as the light of our Sun which we see with our 2 eyes or the light of the Inner Sun which we see with our third eye in Dhyan. Our right eye represents the Sun/day and our left eye represents the Moon/night. Between these two is the limit of the day and the night, the twilight, the sandhya, our third eye/ajnya chakra. It is in this sandhya that you will see the Inner Light, only if you look deep with faith.
If you want to utilize the energies of the twilight, here is a very simple way. At dawn or dusk, light a small copper lamp with sesame oil and cotton wick, with this mantra, “Om deepjyoti parabrahma, deepjyoti janardana, deepo hara tu may papam, sandhya deepah namostute, Om”. If you do not have this lamp things, light a candle at least, but then keep your Intention super-charged!
I had the opportunity to travel to St.Petersberg, Russia last year were I saw that the twilight continues for hours with the sun on the horizon which does not set. The people living in northern areas of Russia have a unique chance to do energy work for hours. I hope they become more self aware make the most of it.
Om, The Supreme Intelligence is the divine principle of life. The energy which “excites” is the divine principle of life. The energy which “takes away” may take away my negative energies. Thus I bow down to the divine principle of life and source of intelligence which is seen in the sandhya/twilight.
