This year Venus will be retrograde for about 43days from 23^rd Jul to 4^th Sept. He will be going retrograde when in Leo, then move retrograde backward into Cancer on 7^th Aug and reenter Leo on 2^nd Oct. Venus, when retrograde, goes combust when he is within 8deg from the Sun. This time he will be going combust while retrograde from 3^rd to 19^th Aug for 16days.

Venus considers both the Sun and the Moon as his enemies so is not comfortable in either of these signs, Cancer and Leo. This Venus when in Leo will cause issues because of a conflict between your personal selfishness and the requirement to be fair in your one-one relationships. And Venus in Cancer causes issues where you put your personal needs before your obligations to be equitable in your partnerships.

In this time, he will be closely influenced Mars, Sun and Mercury. Mercury will also be going retrograde during this time from 24^th Aug to 16^th Sept. And Saturn, who is retrograde in his own Aquarius, thus quite powerful, is aspecting all the planets in Leo with his 7^th aspect.

Venus rules over Taurus and Libra. He is in charge of the close family, treasures, family resources, relaxation and comfort, speech, your capacity to bear burdens, partnerships, loved ones, physical intimacy, spiritual practice, business, legal issues, media, entertainment, expensive goods, art etc. He can also be considered to be the natural marak of the zodiac by virtue of his ownership of the natural 2^nd and 7^th houses of the zodiac.

So analyse your Venus and especially is any birth planets in Cancer and Leo. Think on what all these indicate in your life and be ready for some turbulence.

In brief for the signs,

• Leo and Aquarius will see maximum turbulence. Saturn and Venus opposing each other is in itself a tedious position and both have gained strength due their retrogression. So keep your mind as stable as possible to avoid long term issues.
• For Cancer, Venus will give some useful results when in Leo, but when he moves into Cancer then he will cause turbulence.
• Taurus and Libra should be especially careful about their health. Frustration is possible as your projects etc may seem to get delayed but rest assured that once Venus goes forward everything will pick up again.
• Venus can be helpful for Aries, Gemini, Virgo, Scorpio, Sagittarius and Capricorn in some way or the other depending on the personal chart. But remember that Venus has the habit of poisoning the luxuries that he promises.
• For Pisces he will give only short term, temporary gains which will last only as long as he is retrograde.

Whenever a planet goes retrograde in transit, we are required to review, reanalyse, repeat and redo actions linked to him. Depending on the power of the birth chart, Venus retrograde can manifest as indecisiveness, an inability to recognise the correct partnerships, failures in relationships, loss of resources, mismanagement of the family assets, stress caused by the spouse, the family and the business partners, losses in investments, turbulence in personal mediative practices etc. This is not a good time for new investments, purchase of new assets, starting new relationships, getting married, cosmetic surgical procedures, etc. Also he will end those things which do not have true staying power. Eg if your current relationship is not suitable for you he will break it in this time frame. Sometimes he can bring up hidden tensions in relationships, legal issues, precipitate problems in business etc, so that you can at least recognise them. However what you do with this surfaced problem, do you drown in it or resolve it, depends on the power of your birth chart.

In this time you might feel inferior in the matters connected to Venus or you might compromise or suffer losses because of reduced ability to judge things. Most likely you will go through the Venus things in life mechanically, without emotion. You might be lonely, feel that no one really loves you. Also money might be an issue so do keep a rein on your budget and avoid dipping into your savings in this time frame.

But if you have an auspicious Venus in your birth chart, eg if he is the Lagnesh/ascendant lord or the Yogkarak or well placed in some way, and the rest of the chart is strong enough then he can grant slow but sustained gains in the matters he controls in your life. And he will bring up unresolved issues, but as an opportunity to resolve them, so try to be sensible. eg your ex-loved ones might suddenly contact you, this may be because you are required to give them a second chance (rarely) or (more commonly) because you two need to resolve the pending issues lingering from your break-up.

When Venus is retrograde and combust these above predictions will intensify. You will be self-centered and narrow minded about the significations of Venus. There is a possibility that you might distort your equitable one-one relationships by acting on your your selfish ego. Venus is Shukracharya, one of the two Gurus and when he is eclipsed by the Sun (self-ego), his valuable guidance is no more available to us. In this brief time you might be cheated by people who have ulterior motives. Judging the true value of anyone/anything will be difficult. We are all required to give Daana regularly, eg as a part of all major life events, anniversaries, pujas, anushthans, significant transits, eclipses, festivals etc. If you are doing all this regularly then the negative effect of the planetary movements is significantly reduced. Also you develop enough sense to avoid getting emotional about events and you develop the will power to change your behaviour to avoid the major negative issues in life.
