Astrological Combinations for a Genuine Guru

Last Updated on October 30, 2024 by Tejaswini

There was a question thus this post.

If someone has to become a Guru, then there is one basic condition. He or she has to first Realise the Self or at least be a genuinely advanced aspirant capable of teaching Dharma, spirituality or even formal religion to others. And there are certain combinations in the horoscope which indicate this. So if you want to follow a certain person as a Guru and you have access to his or her chart then you can study it to check if these combinations exist.

I will list out some of the specific combinations in the D1 and D9. The D1 is the manifested reality. And the D9 is the main chart for Dharma, it is the expansion of the 9th house of the D1. You can also see the other charts eg the D20 if you want to. But the D1 and D9 combinations are generally enough for confirmation. (For the D9 you will need the exact birth time.)

The Moon

In the D1, the Moon has to be under stress. He should be with or aspected by cruel planets, especially Mars or Saturn. Or at least in the signs of these cruel planets.  Moon with Ketu can grant some other worldly experiences, which help in the spiritual path. But Moon with Rahu does not allow the mind to focus on the spiritual, instead turns it towards the material. Moon with the Sun can be helpful to some extent but eventually for such a chart, the personal self ego can dominate which does not help in self realisation.

Moon with the benefics helps make the mind peaceful and calm, which can be helpful to some extent. But these saumya graha do not give that ruthless determination and capacity to endure through severe hardships which is essential for a genuine aspirant.

Thus Saturn or Mars influencing the Moon is the best combination which forces the mind to be disciplined, determined and endure stress. This is also one of the conditions for formal Sanyas. If you read about the early life of all Gurus and Atmajnyani Mahapurush, they have all gone through unimaginable difficulties. Eg – early death of their parents, or orphans, or they left their homes or the society exiled them, ie they had to suffer in some way or the other. Or they took Sanyas at a early age. On the internal levels they had to fight it out with their emotional mind, destroy the latent tendencies/Vasana. Then destroy the preconceived notions/ Sanskars of the intellectual mind. When all imposed notions and attributes are destroyed does the self knowledge become evident. It is only when the mind gets disillusioned from the vagaries of the outer world that it turns towards the Self. This emotional and intellectual stress is a necessary condition.

The Moon’s power in the D9 is crucial. A debilitated Moon ie in Scorpio navamsha is one of the best options as it gives the required mental stress and also a strong determination for following Dharma. Also, if the Moon is debilitated in Scorpio then the 9th from is Cancer sign, ruled by Moon himself which grants faith/Shraddha and trust/Vishwas. This allows the Mind to hold on to Dharma despite the turmoil.

The 9th house/sign from the D9 Moon is an important indicator of the ability of the Mind to follow Dharma. The 9th lord from the D9 Moon has to influence the Moon or the Dharma trikon/lords of the D1or D9. Only then does the Mind unwaveringly focus on Dharma.

Or Ketu, Saturn or Mars and the Moon should be in the same sign in the D9. In short the Moon has to be under stress in the D9 also. The mind has to be capable of going through disillusionment without breaking down, ‘walk on the razor’s edge’.

https://psychologicallyastrology.com

The Dharma trikon

The Ascendant sign and its lord have to be powerful in the D1. This ensures that the personality as a whole is able to successfully manage the stresses on the Moon. If this condition is not met then the personality can break under the stresses on the Mind. In fact, the entire D1 Dharam trikon has to be powerful. This ensures that the personality has the basic resources, the past merits/ purvapunya for support and the ability to work hard for the Ultimate Success.

At least one of the 1st 5th 9th lords should be in the 1st 5th or 9th signs. And if the 1st lord is in the 5th or 9th then it is a life time blessing. This gives fortitude to the personality. The individual absorbs all the disillusionment with a very positive mindset. He either acts powerfully in the current moment so that the shocks are absorbed in the right perspective. Or he relies on the blessings from his past lives to absorb these shocks.

Specifically Rahu in the Dharma trikon signs or with the trikon lords is not considered to be helpful. He creates distractions of the material world.

The 9th lord in the D1 is called the Dharmesh. If this planet has any connection with the 12th house either in the D1 or in the D9 then there is a good chance of Moksh in this lifetime itself. This planet conjoint /aspecting the Moon or in the 9/5 axis from the Moon in the D1 or D9 is also a good sign. And in the D9 also the lords/signs of the D1 Dharma trikon have to be well placed. ie, ideally they should be in the 1 4 5 7 9 10 houses of the D9. The D9 Dharma trikon/lords also have to be influenced by benefics. All this ensures that the personality has the inherent power to sustain itself. To strongly hold on to Dharma in the face of difficulties and stresses. A strong Dharmesh in the D1 and D9 both is necessary so that the personality can deeply understand philosophy /religion/ Shaastra/ Ved.

The D1 5th lord is called the Mantresh. His position in the D9 indicates the type of actions which will be undertaken by the personality as a Guru. If the Mantresh is in the 1st of the D9 then the person may not be required to teach others. If in 2nd house of the D9 then the person will give discourses. If in the 3rd then he will write a lot. If in the 4th then his actions will benefit the society as a whole (this in my opinion is the best position for a Guru). If in the 5th then he will be a Guru for select disciples. Mantresh in the D9 – 6th house will not give him eligible disciples. In the 7th, the person will teach solo type of activities eg Dhyan for self realization. In the 8th, he may prefer teaching secret practices involving considerable discipline, but his students will not be very reliable. In the 9th, the Guru may be a Mathadhapati of an established Math/system. In the 10th, he may start a new sampraday/ religious group etc with a hierarchical structure. Mantresh in the 11th house of D9 can create a personality who will teach but students will motivated by the desire to gain from this activity. And if this planet is in the 12th house of the D9 then, he might not get eligible students and/or he may not want to teach.

The 12th house

This house indicates the potential for Moksh. This house can provide indicators for Atmajnyan, tell you if the Guru is a possible Atmajnyani Mahapurush. The 1st 5th and 9th houses/lords must have a connection with the 12th house/lord. This is a compulsory condition. It may be in the D1 or D9 but it must be there.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

Venus

Then in the D1, Venus has to be under some malefic influence. The personality should not be interested in marriage, luxuries and all the lower significations of Venus. Best combination here is if Venus is with Ketu. But if Venus is debilitated or with Rahu then he creates unnatural, immoral and unethical thoughts which do not give that genuine orientation towards Dharma/ spirituality/ religion.

This same theme has to be reflected in the D9. The Venus has to be ’spoilt’ in a typical way. His tendencies for luxury, etc should be spoilt but in a way that his tendencies for self – realisation are completely expressed. Otherwise Venus can turn the personality towards outer pleasures, luxuries and partnerships. And this can at any point of life, depending on the trigger Dasha. Thus it is better if he is ‘spoilt’.

Jupiter

Then Jupiter in the D1 has to influence the ascendant sign / lord. Either be with or aspecting. This is a necessary condition. Also this Jupiter must not be debilitated or otherwise stopped from giving results. In the D9 also Jupiter must influence the D1 ascendant lord/sign. Or at least be in the D9 1st 5th 9th houses. Formal teaching is a function of Jupiter, so a teacher of philosophy/ religion/ spirituality and Dharma has to have a powerful Jupiter.

And finally if the person is to become a popular Guru, ie have a large group of followers then the 10th house in the D1 and also D9 has to be strong. This means it or its lord has to be aspected by the Moon, Venus or Jupiter. Or influenced by the 1st 5th 9th lords. And not be afflicted by functional malefics.

In general, Libra Sagittarius and Pisces signs in the chart have to be strong. Pisces is especially important. It is the 12th house of the natural zodiac. Also ruled by Devguru Bruhaspati and the exaltation sign of Daityaguru Shukra. Libra is the sign of balance, the personality has to go through several traumatic events and yet sustain, so Libra has to be strong. And Sagittarius is the natural Dharmasthan 9th house, so it has to give its support. These signs should play an important role, ie be the ascendant sign, or Moon or Sun sign or the ascendant should be placed in these.

As always one combination does not make a reading. And here we are analysing if a person is a genuine Guru! So trust this person as a guide, only if there are at least 3 patterns in his D1 and D9 both. There is a small book, a collection of 120 horoscopes of Gurus named ‘Kundali sangraha’ by Gajanan Tendulkar, it is a good collection for further study.

      Hello Mam

Just a wonderful article. Thank you for the wisdom 🙏.
My son’s horoscope hits all the points you mentioned.
Jupiter in 1st house (Virgo) in exchange with mercury sun in 4th (Sagittarius). Mercury is retro and combust..jupiter and Mercury are conjunct in D9.
Moon and Saturn are conjunct in 3rd house (Scorpio), in exchange with mars ketu in 6th (Aquarius). In D9, moon goes to Sagittarius (aspected by Saturn in 1st pisces). In D9, Mars and ketu are conjunct in Capricorn.
Venus is in 5th house (aspected by Saturn in 3rd). In D9, it goes to Virgo (7th), aspected by saturn.

What’s your opinion on it? To me it looks like it hits all the points you mentioned above or am I reading too much into it? Thanks 🙏 🙏

        Hi there
i have no opinion as such. you have to analyse the charts and the personality of your son, see how the theory and practical works together.
and do calculate the trigger dashas – these will give u the times where opportunities/ challenges will come for him.

if your child has a very high potential for spiritual success then as a parent you should do your best to give him the gift of faith. later as he grows up this faith will convert into trust as per his own life experiences.

ensure that he practices something daily, even a 2 min ritual/ day will hold his life together.
choose a ritual which he can do easily eg lighting a lamp or a small 3 repeats of a mantra or reading 1 shlok of Bhagwat Gita daily or any practice which is followed as per your family culture/ traditions.

and make sure that he reads books. not be online so much. reading on the screen it the worst form of ‘reading’. the brain does not retain the information for long.
the thinking process must be encouraged. if he can take up math and sanskrit in school it will be very helpful for developing critical thinking.

and be there for him, he should feel confident discussing his issues/ thoughts etc with you.
supportive parents = strong Moon and Sun.
        supportive environment = strong Lagnesh.

because if he is destined for spiritual greatness then he will be tested on so many levels. and these tests are the most difficult. do what you can to prepare him
the mother is responsible for training the Mind of the child
and the father is responsible for training the expression eg speaking, writing etc skills of the child.

    Hello Tejaswiniji,

I hope you are well 🙂

This post was quite deep to say the least….Perhaps will be critical for someone who has the chance to practically use it to help make such a decision.

I still was drawn to the mention of the Mantresh, which felt significant to me.

And again thank you for the Sri Suktam recording you provide and the reassurance from you yourself that there are no mistakes in it.

I actually had a query since I have looked into the meanings as well.

But on your own page you mentioned a number of things: wealth, beauty, radiance, splendour, welfare, power, grace, shine, success, fortune…..

= and here is my question because I don’t know what you mean by the other terms you used after this

    …. process, symbol, might, dignity

Ok I probably know what dignity is, but those other 3 terms were an interesting choice of words, and you are usually quite precise – (even down to your choice of images and pictures) – so I had been meaning for a while actually to ask I what these words meant in this context?

    Thank you

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there
the recording is by uma mohan. and the thing is that she has made two different recordings. in one she has pronounced ‘Alaxmi’ as ‘Laxmi’. it is a terrible terrible mistake.
you can listen to any recitation just check if its correct. tally it with the text.

      yes, i use precise words.

the sukta is a process. it takes you to the Self in a specific way.
just a hint, – there are 15 main Rk as the 16th Rk is the phalashruti.

it is a symbol of Atmajnyan. Shree is Atmajnyan.

Shree is the might of the Self.

Wonderful information. Can you also please explain some planetary positions indicating high level of spirituality in a person. And also planetary positions indicating which path to follow. Eg. Tantra, yogic, etc.
    It is a request 🙏

      Hi there

i have written a lot on these topics already.
do ref the index page or use the search bar

      eg

      http://psychologicallyastrology.com/2020/02/19/evolution-of-the-soul-and-the-horoscope/

      https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2023/09/08/vedant-a-summary/

      there are several more.

Yoga is the preparatory phase. everyone has to do the basic pranayams, and mantra with 108 breaths. that is the primary step. after you have got some level of control over your breath, your emotional mind will stop interfering and your intelligent mind will start supporting your practice.

      https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2018/12/10/how-to-do-dhyan/

      https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2023/07/25/breath-in-tantra/

tantra finally will lead into the vedant. all paths have to lead into the vedant. there is no other way.
tantra ie shri vidya is necessary, and once you have absorbed it to the full, then the jump into the vedant will be easy.

but the route is long and there are no short cuts. so do only as much are you are capable of doing.

Respectfully, are there variations to Dhyan? Or rather, other ways to be aware of pran or to “see” it’s movement thru the body? I ask, because I went thru something 51 years ago, which I am still not sure what it was, or “what” guided me on how to reach that intense focus. I do know it occurred while reading the Bhagavad Gita for the first time.

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there

      https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2018/12/10/how-to-do-dhyan/

dhyan means 108 breaths – mantra – focus at 3rd eye – while maintaining the neck/back/head posture in the asan of your choice, even Shavasan is a great option but the danger here is of falling asleep. .

mantra can be different as per your Guru parampara/ tradition etc.
but 108 repeats / breaths are always going to be there. it is coz the geometry of the Shri yantra within your body is invoked in the process. the 54 vertices X 2 = 108.

      3rd eye focus is essential.
ajnya chakra- as you power this, it distributes the energy to the lower chakras/ cleans out the nadis.
(your Guru may ask you to focus on the brahmarandhra if he feels it is necessary.)

mantra is for training the emotional mind/Manas

after you are able to keep your mind/manas in a reasonable level of control,
then your Guru will start teaching you vedant directly or he may teach your shri vidya first and then vedant.

then if its shri vidya then he will choose hadi sadi or kadi depending on your energy.

if it is vedant directly then you will first do shravan – listen to the Guru’s discourses/ read the books (Bhagwat Gita, 10 Upanishads, Brahmasutra = Prasthan traya).
then manan – re-read, reflect, understand
then nididhyasan – absorb it completely via intellectual inquiry within your intellectual mind/Buddhi.

then a day will come when you will say that you Know what you Are. that is It.

now you have to decide where your current level of energy is in this scheme. this scheme does not vary.

your past lives efforts are saved in your astral body so you can jump in at any level of this scheme.

Thank you for this post, there are so many layers and levels to this.

I have some really basic doubts, in my own quest to understand myself and improve my spiritual growth in this life:

    1. You mentioned how Rahu with moon is distracting:
Does this also apply to moon in rahu’s nakshatras? For example both my 5th and 9 th lords (Moon Mars) are closely conjoint in Ardra with mercury in same 4th house.

    2. For 12th/9th lord connections/exchanges: does it apply to both D1 and D9?
For example my 12th lord Saturn is in Scorpio 9th house in D1 and Mars is in Capricorn navamsha in D9. I remember you mentioning Saturn in Scorpio is not an easy placement (did not find a post though) and Saturn-mars combinations can create issues (have referred your post on Saturn and mars)

    3. “Rahu in Dharma trikona is not good”, is there a way to “make”/ “force” Rahu in Pisces focus towards spiritual growth especially when Jupiter is there too?

    Thank you as always

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there

      1. the nakshatra are linked to the planets only for the vimshottari calculation.
the planets do not rule the nakshatra. their own nakshatra devatas rule them.

      2. yes. any connect between 9 – 12 is good.
i thought i had written one on saturn in scorpio. if not will write in some time.
but you can extrapolate somewhat from the saturn-mars energy.

      3. it is not.
      cancer ascendant.
      guru chandal in dharma trikon?
      but jupiter in own sign.

you should be careful in rahu and esp jupiter mahadashas.
if your moon, mercury and lagnesh have power then he can turn you towards pure Dharma/Moksh.
but with rahu, it is possible that you will be always more fascinated/sidelined by the siddhis etc which come with sadhana.

      1. AP Avatar
        AP

Thank you so much for clarifying.

        1. For Ardra, the Nakshatra Devata should be Rudra, ruling over both my Dharmesh and Mantresh.

        2. Thank you for writing, will look forward to reading your post on Saturn in Scorpio. Till then I can intelligently think over issues you mention with Saturn-Mars energies.

        3. It’s Pisces ascendant (not Cancer), and Guru Chandal on the ascendant, Rahu just a couple of degrees from ascendant degree. Surprisingly Rahu and Jupiter were the first two dashes in my life and went well (especially Jupiter dasha). All issues are now cropping up in Saturn’s dasha, but I am learning to modulate behaviour after reading your blogs.

My ascendant and Jupiter are relatively strong in Ashtakvarga/Shadbala, but Mercury and Moon are not strong (have the least shadbalas) and also because they get very adversely affected in a stellium with Mars. This has caused me problems in life, whenever my Mars energies have been dominant in my personality and communication.
I have taken to heart how you repeatedly emphasize Dhyan and Mantra Jaap should be used to the strengthen Moon, our Manas and Mercury our Buddhi.
It’s definitely hard not to react to the people/situations and maintain equanimity, but I am trying my best to stay on the course.

        Thank you.

        Hi there
        1. do his pujas, he will help

        3. generally dasha of 1st house lord/ planets go well. you must have got so many things in your life in this time. Rahu would have got them for you. a combined period of Rahu+Jupiter back to back would have been very good for you.

now adjusting to Saturn would be a task. but you will manage. if you can understand the dynamics, your this exact Rahu will help you capitalise on the opportunities of Saturn, he is your 11th and 12th lord, esp 11th – so use the 11th energies to gain with saturn.
and give a channel to the 12th energy, do some 12th keywords activities so all the planets/houses get an outlet.

How can we interpret sun in 1st and Moon in 8th for Libra ascendant (as 1st house is good for sun but not the sign , similarly,in 8th moon is uncomfortable but the sign is good).

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there
that is why you have to either go show your horoscope to a genuine astrologer or learn astrology systematically.

      https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2021/10/03/the-different-techniques-of-jyotish/

every jyotishi will have his own judgement on the positions, this will depend on his experience and perspective.
and most importantly it depends on the question.

eg. if the question is – should a person take up a job or go for business. then a debilitated planet in the asc is not going to support business, better would be to take a job where he will have interpersonal issues but at least will be able to work on his projects properly and get a regular salary.

moon in the 8th in my opinion is the most turbulent position possible, it brings the quality of the entire horoscope down.
the person has to be very very careful. as every keyword of the moon is a source of stress.
one chart in my collection has this exact combination moon in taurus in 8th house, the mother died of an blood diseases when the native was 6 months old.
but again the answer will depend on the Q asked.

      Hi there
      1. you can go as deep as you want, depending on your level of study.

the nakshatra are linked to the planets only for the vimshottari calculation.
the planets do not rule the nakshatra. their own nakshatra devatas rule them.

      2. it will also apply also to anyone who teaches ‘religion’ .
eg – A Brahmin who helps you do pujas. if he is genuine and knows what he is doing, ie is an expert in Karmakaand /Vedpurva then he will naturally have some of these combinations and in addition his 3rd will he strong eg. Mantresh is in the 3rd house in D1 or in D9.

vedpurva is dharma, vedant is moksha
you cannot even think of moksha without first getting a thorough understanding of the vedpurva.
in these ‘modern times’ vedpurva is dismissed as karmakaand. and everyone directly wants to become ‘spiritual’, ‘mystical’ ..
sometimes i think that words like these are a misinformation campaign purposely used to misguide people.

    1. Is Maha Mrityunjay Mantra considered to be praying to Rudra? I really like that.

    2. Yes combined Rahu and Jupiter was a period of “good luck” 🙂 Unexpected gains some times.

Saturn was a wake up call more so because it also coincided with Ashtham Shani soon after the Saturn Dasha began. It was the beginning of reversal of all gains in Jupiter Dasha l, unexpected mistakes, and major bad luck/ losses negating most of the prior good luck/gains.

But following Saturn’s nature: discipline, hard work, and reading the Bhagavad Gita is helping (thanks to your blog- discovering which is think was also due to Saturn’s graces)

    3. 12th house activities: I guess prayers, working in remote areas away from home, and meditation all come in here 🙂

Thank you for your above reply,

But especially after reading some of the comments 3 primary queries have come out.

    1) Simply because I think a single ‘tip’ from you is worth so much and saw what you have written, and read 12th-6th axis post which was pretty on point.

But basically it’s Rahu/Moon in 12th Aries, aspected by Mars itself – and Rahu mahadasha upcoming! And remains 12th in D-9.

That’s in a nutshell, and I am doing Sadhana, meditation, argumentative with mum, but she’s does a lot for me and loves me, and yes am attracted to foreign stuff (don’t know if also my attraction to our Indian Dharma counts since I wasn’t born there)

So whilst I have investigated this a lot I’d greatly appreciate something from you to prepare best.

    2) regarding Mantra and breath, this should be our daily japa? Because long mantras will be difficult and actually I’m drawn to ‘Ram’ which is possible 108 times with the breath. And would this mean align with the exhale to chant mentally vs just getting it done?

    3) Your hints are special! Lots of clothes got rid of an influx of ‘green gold’. I don’t walk around in green and white, lol, but damn that was fun. Green, Fridays, Rising from the dead, expansion, that was a potent insight the whole conversation was.

But I’m thinking 15 Rk, plus 16th so that’s daily puja of 16, there’s the Sri Vidya mantra of 16. 8 ashtalakshmi, representing both dualities is 16?, and don’t we have 16 sanskars so that could be connected also.

    Many thanks

    Rishi

Amazing insights. I Have been spiritual since childhood but the debilitated Venus conjunct ketu in 4th might have given me ocd which consist of disturbing intrusive thoughts against the gods. Dear Ma’am, how do you identify the form of gurudevata to worship in order to be fortunate enough to encounter your guru and get his/her grace in this life? For instance I have my Bhratrikaraka Saturn getting combust by
Sun in Navamsha Kanya, both being in 7th position from my Atmakaraka Me+Mo in Navamsha Pisces. So would my Gurudevata be fierce form of Shiva like Kaalbhairav or Martand bhairav or would it be a form of devi Matangi due to kanya Navamsh or milder form of Shiva either shri Rameshwar or Mahakaleshwar? Again my BK Sa is conjuct Ra in mantrapada of Leo in D1

and irrespective of which deity you worship, everyone will untimately have to read Bhagwat Gita, 10 Upanishad and Brahmasutra.
i have written this several times- it read 1 shlok/day in sanskrit from the BG, it will bring you towards the correct energy / guide

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there
learn to focus on your breath.
breath is linked to the emotions/ thoughts
try focussing on the Soham mantra whenever you feel that your mind is trying to misbehave.
you will have to take the efforts yourself.

    Dear Tejaswinjii,

Thank you for responding to my YouTube comment.

I’m seeking insight into my chart to help me navigate a recent tragedy. I am a Scorpio rising with a Taurus Moon and Sun. Over the past two years, I lost my brother and father to unexpected deaths. As a child, I often had nightmares about losing them, and even before their deaths, I sensed signs of impending loss. The grief has been overwhelming; I was very close to both of them and don’t have a strong connection with other family members.

I’ve found myself retreating into the more fearful and isolating aspects of my personality and chart. Additionally, I’ve been involved in two separate court cases related to their deaths, which has forced me to step away from my full-time manager position. I feel lost and am struggling to move forward. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

      Hi there
i do not do readings anymore.

you will have to consult your regular astrologer for reading your charts.
if there are so many issues coming up one after the other, it would be best to consult someone in person.

as a general guidance, all issues have their root in emotional turbulence. try to find some way of moving on from the passing of your family members. there are professional counsellors who can guide you and help you recover from this.

    Namaste Tejaswini ji,
Very sorry, my comments are not related to your post. I lost my mother few days back. We were together for 51+ years. My mother was bedridden due to a stroke she had over 20 years ago. During most of those 20 years I was taking care of her. My attachment to her was so great that I was willing to do anything to keep her happy (my moon in Cancer). I am not sure she was as attached to me though. I do know she was insecure about me getting married after she had the stroke. Despite spending lakhs on physiotherapy she was not motivated to walk. I could not marry due to a damaged 7th house.

Irrespective of what she thought I did my duties sincerely. I have done almost all the remedies you mentioned for Ketu in 4th house. I have the following questions. Please reply, it will give me some solace.

    1) My mom, when alive, had a habit of talking about her deceased siblings and parents. I’d scold her and then she would be quiet. But I suspect she was thinking about them. How bad is the effect of this kind of behavior? Can it be life-threatening?

    2) My mom died after being unconscious for several hours. I had taken her to the hospital for a routine treatment. But several complications suddenly arose one after the other. Then she became unconscious and died in that state. What happens when a person dies in an unconscious condition? I mean how would his/her journey be like?

    3) I was living alone with my mom, being an only child. Now that she is gone, there is a huge void in my life. There is also some insecurity, being a single woman living alone in a big city. Please suggest something.

    4) I along with my cousin will be doing my mom’s Asthi-visarjan in some days as per tradition. In the meanwhile, can I send reiki to my mom for a comfortable and safe journey to Pitrulok. I practice 2nd degree Reiki.

I have an Ishta Devata but can’t connect to Him now. I felt a similar disconnect during my Sade Sati (lost my dad then) and now I’m going through Ashtam Shani.

I have read all your posts. I know you say we must not think about deceased people. Still, I end up thinking about my mom and crying. I know you’re not obligated to anybody to respond. But I am so distraught, depressed and lost now, I would appreciate some words from you, mainly because you would also include a spiritual perspective which a counselor wont.

    Many thanks in advance🙏🏻

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there

      1. if you are 51yrs old then your mother would have been at about 75yrs? it is a poornayu, long life.
each one has the basic freedom of living the life they want to. if she wanted to life her life like this, or think about her siblings it is not your problem. you did the best you could as her child.
you cannot satisfy her. you can only satisfy your own mind that you did the best as per your capacity.

      2. death in sleep, unconsious states, coma is very common. it is not an issue at all.

      3. you have transfer your love to your deity. that is why we always do pujas of a Devi, Laxmi Parvati, Saraswati for that maternal love thing. she is the Jagadamba, mother of the entire universe. give her that rightful place in your heart. she will take care of the rest.

on the practical level, you have to keep contact with your neices/ nephews or at least maintain good relations with your neighbours etc.

      4. you can only till the rituals are complete. after that if you want to give reiki, give reiki to the Jagadamba.
after the post death tarpans etc we do not consider the deceased to have a separate existence. we consider that now onwards they have merged with the deity.

you may not be feeling the connect. but the devata is always available and always there. ignore your feelings and focus on the deity. even if your mind wants to wander, control it and focus.

we should not think of the deceased after the 13th day tarpans. (then we think of them once a year in pitrupaksh, or in the annual shraadhha). till then we are allowed to cry, grieve etc all we want.
after the 13th day, they go to pitrulok to get ready for their next life. and you too should go on with your life.
in hinduism, emotional dependence on a human is never encouraged.
but emotional dependence of the deity is allowed. so think of the Universal Mother and bring her into your life more proactively.

the mind is conditioned by habit. so give it a new one. whenever it wants to think of your this life’s mother, give it the photo of the Devi to look at.

and do consult a professional who can better guide you on dealing with grief.

Hi Tejaswini, thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world. I have learnt a lot from you, very fortunate to have found your blogs.

What do you think about stelliums in 1/4/7/10 in D1? I have read that it’s also a great pre condition for sanyas and dharma. Could you please write on stelliums?

Also how does the pancha mahapurush yoga come in here? Because of my stellium in the first house being aspected by Saturn, I meet many conditions of the pancha mahapurush yoga. I’d like to know if I’m meant to walk on the spiritual path more than what I’m doing atm.

Look forward to hearing from you!

    Thanks again

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there
stelliums are locus of instability, cause trauma. i have written on these, do ref the index

thus the mind eventually gets disillusioned with the material and seeks the Self. but this is possible only when the personality has that inner strength.
if the chart is not otherwise strong then the person takes up habits like intoxicants, drugs etc to cope with the instability.

the first question you have to ask yourself is why do you want to walk the spiritual path/ seek the Self/ attempt for Moksha.

My Guru had asked me this same question.

my Guru would describe what he used to feel before he met his Guru. he was already a Mathadhipati, already a part of the Nath sampraday parampara, already lakhs of people would worship him as the Mathadhipati of a very prominant Math. he already knew so many things from his parampara Guru. eg he could hold the kumbhak for 9 mins! so you can imagine the level. but in his own words he was desperate, in very severe turbulence till he met his actual Sat Guru.

are you ready to give up everything? even your body, your mind, your intelligence, all the things which support you? think very deeply why you want this.

the chart will give only the possibility, but to actualise it you will have to work very hard. go through several life events which will cause your emotional mind to collapse in a controlled manner, only then will the pure intellect/ buddhi rise. then you have to read, assimilate and then state with conviction that you are the Self.

trigger dasha and transits will do the rest if you have the strength and are willing to go through the process.

Thank you for this knowledge. I have a question related with Parivartan yoga article written before.
    1. Can Rahu (co owner of Aquarius) create Parivartan yoga. If yes, what happens Parivartan yogan happens with dispositor.
    2. Is Parivartan yoga applicable to D9 chart as well

Dear Tejaswini! Great article! Just a quick question on Gandant if I may.
What is the difference between Gandanta Lagna and Gandanta Nand Tithi?
My father is a Gandanta Nand Tithi (begins 0:54) and my sister is a Gandanta Lagna (begins 8:21) according to my software. And are they equally bad, or is one worse than the other?
    Thank you in advance!

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there
as per the charts i have seen – the nakshatra gandant, ie the moon in the gandant zodiac parts is more problematic. as this causes mental / emotional stress.

lagna gandant can give some physical effects but if the Moon is powerful then this does not make much of a difference. and if the lagnesh is placed well then the effect is negligible. tithi gandant, in my experience, does not have much effect on the person.
there are some minor hardships but nothing really troublesome.. and if the Moon is strong and especially supported by Mercury then these experiences are used by the personality to become even stronger.

Great article, Tejaswini. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us.

I did wonder what you think about an exalted Venus in terms of spirituality. Is that also a barrier to higher realisation. Won’t Venus be operating at its highest form here and I think in one of your articles on Venus you’ve said that Venus is the one that ultimately grants moksha?

    1. Tejaswini Avatar

      Hi there
venus in pisces or even venus in aquarius and moving forwards towards pisces is quite capable of giving spiritual growth.
but the experiences will depend on the house /presence of other planets etc.
and he will also give a good life, it can even be luxurious, but as you grow older, the spiritual side will also give its fruit.
