The Vedic year Shri Krodhi naam samvatsar (post here) ends on Phalgun Amavasya ie 29^th March 2025. The Sun and Moon are together in Pisces on this day and this Amavasya marks the end of one Samvatsar, the Vedic year.

The Vedic new year, Shri Vishvaavasu naam Samvatsar starts with the sunrise of the Chaitra Shukla Pratipada ie from 30^th March 2025. This day is called the Yugadi युगादि. Shri Vishvaavasu विश्वावसु is the 39^th year in the 60yr Vedic year sequence. Vishvaavasu विश्वावसु is a Sanskrit word which means collective wealth, or universally beneficial or night. Shri Vishvaavasu will end on the Phalgun Amavasya on 20^th March 2026 . The background energy of any time is dependant on the transit of the 4 slow moving graha, Saturn Rahu Ketu and Jupiter. Shri Vishvaavasu, starts with all four changing their signs one after the other in a time frame of 2 months! These transits will trigger a very high rate of change in everyone’s lives which may not be easy for several of us to handle. But some of us will also find rare lifetime opportunities in this time. Saturn moves to Pisces on 29^th March one day before the Yugadi. Jupiter moves into Gemini on 14^th May, true Rahu moves to Aquarius and true Ketu into Leo on 29^th May.  

Then the major planets, Jupiter and Saturn going retrograde during the year, change the results they give. Saturn will be going retrograde from 13^th Jul to 28^th Nov. And Jupiter will be going retrograde from 11^th Nov to 11^th Mar 2026. 

There is one interesting thing in Shri Vishvaavasu, that Mars will be combust for really long time from 1^st Nov 2025 to 2^nd May 2026. This time will be critical as there will be an overdose of fiery energy for about 6 months!

Then there are 4 eclipses in this year which will influence us, two solar and two lunar. Eclipses trigger karmic overload and thus are important. Especially the solar eclipses, in this year, will trigger intense events in the nations where they are visible.

The positions of the planets on the Yugadi day determines their results and the auspiciousness of their results in the year. This new year day is highly unbalanced and most of the planets are under stress, which will reflect on their performance in the entire vedic year.

1. The king of this Samvatsar is the Sun himself. He is also the natural ruler of the zodiac, so this role suits him. In addition he controls 3 other portfolios – Mantri, Argyhadhipati and Meghadhipati. So out of the 9 posts in the government, 4 are controlled by the ruler Sun and this has spoilt the balance of power. The Sun is the Raja and the Mantri both which is not good. And he has just come out of a major eclipse and is very close to Rahu. His lack of positivity will affect his results for the entire year. He has also combusted 2 graha, Saturn and Mercury. And is very close to the Moon and Venus. Thus the Sun is directly influencing 5 graha of Jyotish and thus he is extremely powerful on the Yugadi. 
2. Saturn is the Senapati, the Commander of the Armies. On the new year day, he is combust and with Rahu in the cursed combination. He is definitely not comfortable and this will show in his results. The Sun as King and Minister and Saturn as Commander is not a good interaction. 
3. Mercury has 2 posts. But he is combust, debilitated and retrograde on the new year day. He is also more influenced by the naturally cruel planets so is not very favourable.
4. Venus has one post, Rasadhipati, he is exalted and retrograde.
5. And Moon also has only one post, he is the Dhanyadhipati. 

This year, Jupiter and Mars do not have a direct role in the planetary government. This means that their keywords will not be prominent in this year’s energy. Jupiter is a gentle supportive force, he is the Jivkarak, he sustains life on this earth. So in this year, his resources, kindness, benevolence, timely luck etc will not be easily available to us. Mars is capacity to create, innovate, compete and forge ahead. He is the passion to live. Mars is healthy competition and genuine courage, and this year, these qualities also will not be important in the public’s or the government’s perspective.

The naturally cruel planets have more roles, 7 out of 9. And the two saumya planets are under the influence of a very powerful Sun. So this year will be difficult for us. There may be natural disasters or the government may take tough decisions, or people as a collective will behave badly, in any case the events will be adversarial for the wellbeing of the common people. 

The most important roles are the King, Mantri and Senaadhipati and they are controlled by the naturally cruel planets. The Sun as King and Minister will have a deep impact on the governance systems. And Saturn as the Commander of the Armies may start karmic conflicts on a large scale. The governments and authorities may create problems, engage in corruption and dubious activities and make faulty policies all which will hurt the common people. And the common people may also create their share of issues which will force the governments to become even more strict and authoritarian. 

The new year, Yugadi day has a very mixed up energy. Combustions, retrogrades, debilitations, graha yuddha, eclipses all going on at once. And in the Virgo – Pisces axis. Pisces is dangerously out of balance – it has just hosted a partial solar eclipse with Sun, Moon and Rahu. Saturn has just entered Pisces and the shapit yog has started. Mercury is debilitated retrograde and combust. Venus is retrograde and exalted. Sun, Moon, Rahu, Mercury, Saturn and Venus are all influencing each other in Pisces. And opposite this is the even more unstable Virgo. Ketu is in Virgo he is being aspected by Sun Moon, Mercury, Venus and Saturn. Then Jupiter is in Taurus, Saturn is aspecting him restricting his auspiciousness. And his own sign Pisces is under stress affecting him indirectly. But Jupiter is aspecting Virgo. Only Mars in Gemini is able to act a bit independently. And Mars too is aspecting Virgo. On the Yugadi day, Virgo and Pisces are extremely dangerously unbaalnced.

Now for the in depth Varshaphal for Shri Vishvaavasu naam samvasar. 

Only possible trends can be indicated by Jyotish. But what will actually happen is completely in the hands of Bhagwan Mahakaal and Devi Mahakali. They control the flow of Time and the unfolding of the karma. 

Varshaphal for the Sun  – The Sun is very powerful and he is the natural ruler of the zodiac. So the governments will become very authoritative, anyone in a position of power will want to exercise power. Suryadev is controlling 4 posts, Raja, Mantri, Argyhadhipati Meghadhipati and is completely dominating the show. The Sun has the final say in all the activities which are to take place in this year. And he will not listen to anyone. He is his own advisor in this time. He also controls finance and all the things of real value this year. He controls the weather, the actual rains and all, and also the overall environment of this year. 

This year, there is a greater chance of aggression of the political type, at the policy level, by diplomatic arm twisting, forcing smaller nations to bend to the stronger ones. The economic type of war by putting tariffs and sanctions will continue. Secret attacks using financial markets or the cyberspace or the underground or underwater may be preferred in this time. And in some cases, arm twisting threats may be followed by outright attacks.

The global political scene will change. Old obsolete treaties will be abandoned and new strategic alliances will be made.

Very high levels of instability will continue overall. Smaller and weaker nations will be erased from the world map. The political map of the world will change as unviable nations will break or be absorbed into their more viable or larger neighbours. This will lead to several problems related to governance and administration in several parts of the world.

Entitled behaviour of world leaders may lead to several issues. And this may lead to faulty policies which will harm in the long run. And this year, everyone will want to get involved in politics. Everyone will discuss politics, create their own political agendas and this may lead to a severe disruption in the society. From the smaller village level to the highest global level, everyone is now a politician. Protests, political rallies, civil disturbances and perhaps civil wars may tear into the fabric of several nations. Everyone will try to create their own pressure groups and try to become a leader by splitting the society.

In several nations, the legislature and executive will want stricter laws. The administration may become stricter. Also legal systems may become more autocratic. Changes in the administrative and legal systems may be proposed in several nations. Then crime may increase and this includes actual violent crime, cybercrime, financial frauds and now the misuse of AI. The enforcement system may be overwhelmed by the volume of the criminal activity. But the governments will take stringent actions against the disruptive elements.

The global financial system will continue to go negative. Inflation will increase. Financial systems are extremely stressed out. Several nations can go bankrupt and face humanitarian crises in this year.

One tip is to buy physical gold as much as you can now, as soon gold will go out of reach of the common man. Or buy physical land, solid assets which you can hold in your hands. And life overall will become even more expensive.

Then women will be in the limelight for positive and negative reasons. Some women will positively contribute in the governance, art, social life or as a homemaker. And some women will give very disturbing examples of entitled behaviour. More marriages will fail and all rules based partnerships will be problematic. If you intend to get into any partnership, business or personal, make sure you sign all contracts etc in advance. So that in case the partnership fails, there is clarity. Self ego and selfishness will be high under the influence of the Sun, and no one will compromise for relationships of any sort in this year. 

Regarding general public, health, medical issues of the eyes will be more. Blood related diseases will be higher. Pitta dosh will be seen and heat and acidity type of diseases will be higher in the general public. Painful type of issues will be more, like rashes, boils etc. Heart related complications will be seen in comparatively higher numbers. Then the medical sector will see some controversies this year, related to medical equipment failure, or hospital negligence, or adulterated drugs etc.

Sun represents Creativity. Misuse of creativity in every way will reach record heights in this year. And our children are the expression of our creative power. So this year, pay attention to your young children, do not allow them to spoil their physical, emotional and intellectual potential. Ensure that they study properly, do regular exercise and eat nutritious food. Talk to them so that they can share their issues with you, be there for them.

This year, summer will be extremely hot, breaking all temperature records. But the weather will remain unpredictable, storms, rains, cyclones and intermittent heat. This unhealthy will also cause outbreak of diseases. People must take care of their health as overexposure to the heat can cause medical issues. Extensive fires in the forests and cities are possible. Both air and water will remain uncertain in this year.

Monsoon will be scattered and it will be hot in the monsoon also. It will rain but the timing will be such that the monsoon crops may be affected in some areas. And the winters also will not be as cold this year, winter rains also may not be enough for agriculture. So farmers should choose crops which can withstand erratic rainfall or crops like millets which need less water or use technological methods which will ensure water supply.

Varshaphal for Saturn is the Senaadhipati, the Commander in Chief of the Armies. He is the advisor to the king in matters related to internal law and order and external aggression. Saturn will bring practical topics related to defence and offence before the Sun. Actually Suryadev is the father of Shanidev. The Sun is divine creativity and Saturn represents physical reality, so their natures are opposite. But ultimately Saturn respects his father and the Suryadev is proud of his son. And father and son together are in an aggressive mood this year. So wars and disagreements will start and continue on so many levels. From the home to the globe, everyone is going to argue and fight. The root cause will be selfishness, self-ego, self-entitlement and finally a collective karma operating on the highest levels.

All nations will divert significant budgets for defence production. Saturn is linked to air, so new aerial warfare weapons will be designed and put to use. The race for space will intensify and every nation will send more and more satellites into space. And almost all of these satellites will be for defence and offence purposes. Every nation will dream of harnessing the power of space in some way, eg mining the asteroids, the Moon or Mars for resources. And some will make significant progress towards this goal.

Then the enforcement agencies, police, spy networks, armies all will be very active in this year. Major cases will be cracked. But the criminals will also be equally active. The media houses will add to the fire by misreporting things, especially some will try to create political tensions. And some journalists will face legal proceedings for misconduct. Social media will cross all levels of decency and more content creators will be charged for inappropriate content. Films and OTT platforms will try to incite emotions by showing wrong history and spreading misinformation. Saturn will punish them also.

General public will also be more aggressive. I recommend that everyone makes use of this energy and learn self defence. Improve your body and mind, make yourself fit. Saturn will support these routine and disciplined activities, so use his power to develop your personality. Then the genuine citizens will feel very patriotic and support their nations. Young men and women will join the enforcement agencies and work under Saturn’s influence. They will try their best to protect their nations and both the Sun and Saturn will support them. Generally genuine citizens must be ready to defend and protect their own nations in this year.

For Bharat – we may face a war like situations on our western front. On the Northern front, things will be uneasy but will not escalate. Northeast may see an escalation and the NE and eastern states may see turbulence. Our coastline will be susceptible to covert or underwater attacks. Internal security matters may get serious this year. The civil society will be deeply fractured. Historical injustices and fake history will be rectified to a great extent in this year and the genuine citizens will appreciate this. The nation will invest in security and defence, will increase indigenous weapon manufacture and improve the army, navy and airforce capabilities. We will suffer with the rest of the world, but things will be relatively better for us. In our national horoscope, Taurus is the ascendant sign and Cancer is the Moon sign. So we will get some tangible material benefits and the mood of the nation will be stressed out, irritated and negative.

Varshaphal for Mercury is the Sasyadhipati and the Neerasadhipati. He controls all types of agriculture, mining and all the things which are derived from the earth. All raw materials and all finished goods produced from the earth are under his power. And he also controls all the karmic compulsions, things which have an undesirable effect on us, all unhealthy, neglected things which weigh on the body, mind and soul. This year, Mercury represents suffering of the public and all the things which will be ignored by everyone.

So this year, new and expensive agricultural technology will be available to the farmers. Prices of agricultural land, equipment using in farming and all agricultural products will increase. Genuine farmers will improve their farming practices by mixing tradition with modern concepts, work hard and earn good money in this year. Animal husbandry will give good money. Milk and milk products will be available and abundant. Fruit orchards, floriculture and spice production will be on a high. Sea food will also be in high demand. And any new and modern type of crop will be extremely profitable this year. Tissue culture, laboratory grown plants, etc anything with modern technology will be profitable.

Food processing plants will continue to add chemicals to food, so unhealthy food and adulterated food will continue to hurt public health and also will be profitable. I also expect new laws to enacted which will control these processed items. Any technological innovation in the manufacturing and agricultural sector will give high profits in this year.

New ore deposits, new oil reserves etc will be discovered under the ground. Again new methods for extraction of raw materials from the earth will be developed and used. Metals, precious metals and manufactured goods from these raw materials will give good profit.

Then ancient secrets buried under the ground and under the sea will be uncovered. Important archeological discoveries will be made and interpreted in the correct perspective. The ancient history of this world will be available to the common citizens and it will be seen in the right perspective. This will have a positive effect on the genuine citizens of the nations. Invaders, colonizers and vested groups who prefer misinterpreting history will create a ruckus and this will lead to social issues.

And Mercury is also the Neerasadhipati, and he primarily represents young people. So young people as a group, will either face problems themselves or create problems in the society. Communication systems will be misused. Social media will have an increasingly adverse effect on the youth. Young men and women will waste their time on their screens. Misuse of communication technology will become a major problem. Uncontrolled social media, vulgarity, misuse of AI and the other evils of the reel life are going to be a serious social problem. AI is going to be a very big problem in ways we had not expected.

Also mental health of the public as a whole will be affected. Depression, suicidal tendencies, loneliness, lack of motivation, tiredness, lack of proper judgement, etc will affect several of us. If you feel like this, do consult a medical professional or a counsellor who is qualified to help you. Do not suffer in silence, talk to someone you trust.

Young people will cause long term damage to themselves by indulging in premarital sexual activities. Sterility will be an increasing issue in young married couples. And artificial reproductive clinics will be in high demand. Investment in artificial reproduction technologies will be high in this year.

Generally the youth will become lethargic, some may turn to addictions, a few may take extreme steps. Overall lack of reason, illogical and irrational behaviour will be high in this age group. As parents we must be there for our children and teenagers and try to bring them back to their senses. So parents, first restrict social media for yourself and your children as this is going to have a very negative role in this year. But again several parents too will be addicted to this online reel life and add to the problems. 

Then new ways of communication, perhaps a new operating system will enter the market, which will cause an upheaval in the communication industry. The established players will be challenged. Then young people and students will be attracted to foreign languages, learn coding and use AI in new ways. So as parents we must teach our children all these technological things so that they gain in their lives. But we also have to give them sanskars, so that they can cope on the psychological level. 

Varshaphal for Moon – Then Dhanyadhipati for Shri Vishvaavasu is Chandra graha. So all things which move in a cyclic pattern will be profitable. Or their production will see fluctuations or their prices will see ups and downs. All businesses linked to food eg grain processing, cold storage etc will also be profitable this year. Then export and import will be profitable. All white  colored metals including silver will become expensive. 

Food crops, cereals and white colored food will be available and nutritious. All food products from the sea – fish, salt etc will be profitable. Valuable sea products like pearls will also be profitable. And undersea resources will be available in plenty.  People will want to eat foreign, imported, exotic, processed ‘new food’. To some extent this may be good but overall this will turn people away from healthy food options and have its effect on public heath.

Then people will want to leave their homes. They will feel restless and want to move. Everyone will seen to be traveling this year, for work or pleasure. And also legal migration to the other nations will be encouraged, especially to those nations where the birth rates are falling dramatically. 

This year, water bodies will be dangerous. Everyone must compulsorily learn swimming as a life saving skill. And avoid going to the sea or rivers during eclipses, Amavayas, Purnimas or at night or in heavy rains or do stupid things near the water for making reels.

Then psychological problems will increase for everyone. Do not expect comfort in this year. Moon is connected to middle aged and older women. So more women from this age group will be attracted to the exotic and foreign. They will not feel inclined to continue their nurturing roles. So expect more families to break as women prefer living alone or migrate to better job options in different cities.

Varshaphal for Venus – is the Rasaadhipati for Shri Visvavasu. Rasa is all the essences which nourish. And he is under stress on the Yugadi day. So for the majority, he will not give auspicious results but some positivity is possible. All liquids needed for life and living, eg water, milk, petrol, diesel can become more expensive, and the cost of living can also go up. Most of us the financial situation will be worrying. And for some of us, Venus will give unexpected sources of money which may not be very legal.

Venus will give good profits in the floriculture industry, all perfumed products will be more expensive. Branded and luxury items will be more expensive and profitable. Cosmetics, beauty products will be more in demand and even regular people will want to get cosmetic surgery. But these procedure may not be very safe. 

Illegal drugs will be more available and this is dangerous for the society. Side effects of recreational drugs will be seen in increasing numbers. Party culture will spoil the young generation. Content creation will reach new heights as everyone will want to make reels and be visible online. Most of it will be cheap and vulgar but some good content will be seen. Few genuine new talent may be seen online. Some of us will produce aesthetically pleasing content with classical music, dance and real art.

Especially ancient practical knowledge from Dharma will slowly be available to a few of us. Pujas of the Devi will give results. 

Reproductive problems in women will increase. Increasing numbers of women who have taken drugs which affect the reproductive system like OTC birth control pills or abortion pills will see their side effects on their bodies. Venus indicates younger women as a group, so this age group women will be more influenced by these Venus predictions.  

The Pujas for welcoming the new Samvatsar are similar all over Bharat. There are obviously several local and cultural variations but the basic concept is the same.

Briefly. Everyone wakes up before sunrise, gets fresh, wears new clothes and all. Rangoli Kolam etc is drawn outside the front door of the home. Then Torans, garlands of marigold flowers, ripened wheat stalks, mango leaves etc are tied to the front door. Then the head of the household performs the daily Agnihotra at the exact sunrise time. Everyone then offers Arghya to the newly risen Sun. And regular pujas of the household deities are performed as per routine. 

Then the head of the family reads the Varsha phal, ‘fruits of the new Vedic year’ from the new Panchangam and the entire family hears it. This is compulsory and is the most important part of the new year morning’s puja. 

And the second compulsory thing is the naivedyam offered to the household deities. The special naivedyam for this day is – a mixture of neem flowers/new neem leaves (1 tablespoon), coriander seeds  (1 tablespoon), jaggery (1 tablespoon), tamarind (1 teaspoon of the fruit pulp), asafoetida (one pinch) and sea salt (one pinch) coarsely crushed together. This mixture is first offered to the household deity after the pujas and then everyone in the family must eat one small spoon of this as a prasad. This is the first item that we will eat on the new year morning.

Then everyone must go to the local temple, do puja of the local deity, give Daan and intend for a happy new year.

On the new year day, Yugadi, do take some time to reflect on what has happened to you in this past year Shri Krodhi and think on how you will use the opportunities that the new Shri Vishvaavasu will bring for you in the coming year.

These were the predictions as per Jyotish. But what will actually happen is known only to Bhagwan Mahakaal and Devi Mahakali. 

As followers of Sanatan Dharma and as students of Jyotish we can only pray that the negative predictions do not happen, that the positive predictions do happen and that there is happiness and prosperity in everyone’s lives.
