Anger and astrology

Last Updated on August 12, 2024 by Tejaswini

There was a question on rage and anger related issues, thus this short post.

All emotions are essential, it is necessary to feel happy, sad, angry, upset, afraid etc from time to time. This is a normal response to situations in life which we as average human beings, must go through. But the excessive emotion should end after some time. Eg if my brother and I argue, we both cannot continue raging forever. Emotional turbulence has to subside within a reasonable timeframe. Else it will get converted into a physical imbalance and eventually an actual illness will manifest in the body. Too much of anger, misdirected anger, repressed anger, confused anger, anger in any form will cause pain to you and to your loved ones.

Physical conflict, mental turbulence and illness are all interconnected and are generally a product of the 6th house – enemies, debts, stress, servitude and sufferings. And anger is a combination of the fiery planets in the chart. If you have fiery planets influencing your birth Moon, ascendant lord, ascendant sign, 6th house from ascendant sign/lord or birth Moon, there is a good chance that you have a fiery temper. But a fiery temper does not always mean that it will always create anger related issues. Anger becomes a problem when you cannot respond to a situation in a balanced way, ie – when you lash out and cannot recover your balance in a reasonable time frame.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

The fiery planets are Mars, Sun and Ketu. Depending on your ascendant sign Mars and Sun can be benefic or malefic. Ketu is generally malefic for everyone but he can be a Yogkarak for some charts.

If you have Sun or Mars as benefics, and they are well placed in your chart, then you will have a hot temper but your energy will be directed to specific objectives. You will use it in ways which are not hurtful for you or your loved ones. You will be able to use your temper for productive activities. We all need a healthy level of aggression, self ego, competitiveness, passion, etc to survive and thrive in this world. Such powerful combinations are useful for people who are required to work responsibly in high-risk situations, eg soldiers, doctors, firefighters and similar personnel who work in emergency situations,  officers in the higher positions in the government, people who have to take pragmatic decisions for the greater good etc.

But if these two are damaged, especially by the influence of Saturn or Ketu or Rahu, or debilitated or in the 6th house from the ascendant sign/ lord or birth Moon etc then there will be misdirected fire which can cause damage. If you have such combinations then you should be careful in specific transits/ dashas of these planets as then the tendency to flare up will be more.

Especially retrograde Mars, denies you the ability to express your emotions outwards in a healthy manner. eg if you are arguing with someone you cannot phrase your words properly, you cannot give a logical counter-argument at that time but you remember it later, you stammer, or burst into angry tears, or you get so overwhelmed that you run away, etc. Combust Mars on the other hand makes you take wrong decisions or get into misdirected arguments because of a misplaced sense of entitlement. You genuinely believe yourself to be worthy of some things which when denied because of some rule or something you cannot hold back your anger. You then become very cutting in your words and actions which often causes permanent damage. Debilitated Mars causes intense internal heat, you are constantly burning on the inside. Given the slightest provocation you explode like an underwater volcano. You will always suffer from some issue of the digestive system. “Digesting’ things, adapting to situations, tolerating others is always difficult. Also some problem in the reproductive system is possible. Such a Mars makes you burn on the inside, you are unable to let out your emotions and thus you burn on the inside hurting your own mind /body.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

Ketu is a fiery planet and is generally malefic ie he gives unpleasant results. But not everyone has his Ketu powerful enough to manifest strongly at the physical level. But if you suffer from skin diseases, allergies, discolourations, etc then do analyse Ketu in your chart in depth. As he has shown that he has power to manifest in the physical level, so you should be aware of what else he is doing in your life. For others, Ketu will act only at the subtle / astral levels and chances of you becoming aware of his activities or directing them consciously is lesser.

If you have Ketu associated with your birth Moon, ascendant lord, ascendant sign or 6th house, your rage is different, impersonal. Or if you are a higher level of spiritual evolution then Ketu is the strange aggression of a strange egoless personality. Slow to anger, but once you reach the boiling point you systematically rip others open without feeling anything for them or for yourself. You are not cruel by nature, you are just instinctively ruthless. You can get intensely angry but in an ‘emotionless’ manner, a cold sort of a rage. This instinctive anger will be triggered by the planets who are connected to Ketu or the house/ sign he is in. Eg if you have a Venus Ketu conjunction you might get this emotion if you see someone being helpless in an unfairness situation. Or if you have Ketu in your 2nd house then any issues in your family will make you instinctively react. But this sort of Ketu-anger is generally rare in charts. Mostly Ketu pushes towards anger by associating with Sun, Mars, Saturn, fire and air together in a uncontrolled manner.

Uncontrolled and misdirected emotions eventually lead to problems. As my Guru, the Swami says, Manah sayyam, the mind/manas should be properly regulated. And this is the first step to every achievement in life. Even for material achievements you need to be conscious of your mind/ Manomaykosh. Only then will you develop the intelligence / Vijnyanmaykosh necessary for achieving success in life. And you can regulate your Manas with the power of ‘routine’. So make it a point to cultivate proper auspicious habits which with time will cut off all the negative habits which are causing inauspiciousness in your life. (index page)

    Dearest Tejaswiniji

    You are amazing!
Your last post, and your sentence:
“being tatastah while being talleen – is the soham vichar, it is the final 5th state. it is the anirvanchaniya” just hit me in the centre….. I am always amazed how you arrive to bring into words realities, that seems to indescribable ….
Also your description of ketu-like anger – its amazing-….
And as the only remedies for ketu is awareness, you give the precious donation to get awareness and healing for all ketu issues!

I don’t know how to thank you, but reading your posts, trying to absorb all and adapt it in my life, it really changed my life…. Thank you !

It is already a moment I have a question, it is not related to this post, but to the vimshottari dasha: Do you use Savana, Nakshatra, Lunar or Saura for fine tuning?

    Wishing you always only bliss

    Hello Tejaswini Ji,

And thank for such a timely post as I was actually just getting annoyed about some stuff I was watching!

You’re right, I’m actually quite compassionate and happily share and want to help given the opportunity. But it takes a small comment about a large, abstract concept such as say World Religion to find myself immersed in imaginary reckonings and thinking of what ‘righteous punishment’ those who deserve it should get.

Really though I need to be getting on with vital things, because this strong energy can really have me mentally taken for a while.

    * My Mars and Ketu are actually in the 6th house – Opposite Moon, in Martian sign

And this forms that most Troublesome Triangle with my Lagna lord Venus burnt by the Sun in another fire sign in 8th!

Phew! Can I actually do anything about this???

I don’t even know if it was a good thing I got this sudden enthusiasm about Jyotish or whether it would have been better to stay ignorant. Or whether these years of accumulated overall religious spiritual knowledge is of any use apart from conversation and whether it’s all actually of no benefit.

I hope you don’t mind, as I’ve noticed people call you Ma’am, but that’s very strange for me since I was born and raised in the UK.

And Ji seems more apt for some someone with the depth of knowledge, and beyond, that you have. But you might chastise me if I refer to you as Gyani lol.

I’m actually a very enthusiastic person overall, but this anger thing is true as well as my kinda deflated sense of learning about these forces working against me.

Is there any potent actions I can take for this Tejaswini Ji?

      Hi there
Try to understand the energy and use it productively.

I am from Maharashtra so both maam and ji are alien to my mind.
Only thing I dislike is if someone types my name wrong.

I am not a Jnyani. and I do not know anything at all.

Manah sayyam. Choose one correct habit, follow it regularly and use it to get rid of the wrong habits.

    Namaste Tejaswiniji,
Thank you for this post 🙏
If Rahu is practically Yogyakarak for an ascendant, can ketu be malefic if he has shown that his effects can be manifest physically (both exalted)?

    Thank you 🙏

      Hi there
Yogkarak Rahu or Ketu will drag you towards the spiritual riches. No option here.
If your moon / mercury are capable of understanding this, then it will be easier for the mind /intellect. Else you will feel conflicted.

    Dear Tejaswini Ma’m,

Thanks a ton for this post. Especially the thought around the power of routine and channelising it is very insightful ! In connection with this and the earlier article I have the following queries :

    1. Sometimes I feel anger about the situation around and also a feeling of dislike for people around for their petty, sometimes ugly and unethical ways. But then a feeling of remorse follows , because the other mind says – you are no better…who are you to sit on high horse and take a judgmental stand ! How to handle this sea-saw?

    2. With reference to the earlier article, most of the worship places have triangular shape / pointed shape at the pinnacle (Shikhar) signifying top driven triangle. Since this signifies samhara energy (Shiva), what would be the significance of having only pointed triangle in the architecture ? Why don’t we have inverted triangle in this vaastu, because 99 percent people pray to “create” things in their life – like positivism, progeny, wealth, vidya, success etc. ?

    3. In the earlier posts, you have mentioned that Rahu spoils Dharma Trikon. In the chart of our country, Rahu occupies lagna. Despite being deva-occupied land, or Aryavarta, it is intriguing as to how is Rahu posited in our Ascendant ? (Ideally ,should it not be Saturn/Jupiter signifying adherence to traditional wisdom?).

    4. When I intend, intention or sankalpa keeping a deity in mind or infront of us is easier to do than keeping a geometry or fire in mind (like swastik, shree yantra or a flame/homa). Is there any specific reason for sankalpa on abstract getting difficult to achieve?

    5. I came across a gaadi of Shri Halasiddhanath Maharaj here near my house which is open for darshan only on Thursdays. I had not read much about Naths and their parampara before, but felt the pull to go there on Thursdays, and also searched on net, and found some information. IS there any authentic old book available on nath mantras? I read that much of these are full on add-ons and purity is lost. Currently I just recite “Om Chaitanya ****Nathay Namah ” for all Naths once a day just because I like to do it and feel peace. But would like to have your views on this, especially their mantras.

    6. While reading more on Daityaguru Shukracharya, it is said that he dislikes Shree Vishnu because according to him Vishnu insulted his mother. But, at the same time he was fine to impart Sanjeevani Vidya to Kacha – son of Brihaspati– and also he makes sure that his disciples get moksh through Vishnu only. How do we explain this contradiction ?

Thank you for all the wisdom you have given so far.

    With Gratitude,
    Hema

      Hi there

      1. Manah sayyam

      2. Wrong inference.

Every jivatma ardently and incessantly desires Moksh. Most do not have the courage to accept this fact.
We all desire to know ourselves. This is the only possible desire.
Why are you reading this blog? – You are reading this blog trying to know your self through the lens of jyotish.

      Examine yourself and your motives.

I cannot write much on shilpashastra. You will have to talk to a genuine Shilpashastri for this. And as per my knowledge there is only one family who practices this, lives in TN.

      3. How is the average Indian person perceived outside India? How does the average Indian tourist behave outside India? How do we behave with each other in this nation? This is the lower nature of Rahu.

But for rare the evolved spiritual aspirant, Rahu sits at the Ajnya chakra. and Ketu at the sahasrar.

Jyotish is both a para Vidya and apara Vidya.
Depends on the eligibility /yogyata of the student what he can learn from it.

      4. Eligibility of the student’s mind/intelligence.

      5. All saints from Maharashtra are from the Naath sampraday.
My own lineage is from Shri Revannath maharaj, he is the Shri Mool Kadsiddheshwar.
All the sant parivar of Maharashtra is the Nath sampraday. All of them.
Eg Shri Gahininath was the Guru of Shri Nivrutti Nath who was the Guru of Shri Jnyaneshwar.
In Maharashtra we all worship Shri Dattaguru, ie Nath sampraday.
Nath sampraday is very strongly followed in Gujarat, MP, HP, UP, etc.

I will not write about Nath mantras in this blog. they are very potent and only a Guru can give these.

There are several books in Marathi on the Naths and their stories carry hidden power. If you understand Marathi then you can read these.

      6. How can I explain what Daityaguru feels or is motivated by? Ask him. Light a deepak with this intention.

    Hi maam,

You had noted in the comments in the previous post about the 9th house being associated with humiliation. I cant seem to find any posts on this or any remedies associated with this in the index. Can you please direct me to where this can be found?

    Many thanks!

      Hi there
I have written over 15 lakh words.
      You will have to search.
And if you have been following this blog, work it out for yourself – why the 9th house.

      1. Hayls Avatar
        Hayls

I was also had the same line of thinking as S. Thank you for clarifying, maaam.

Its interesting because from the isolated incidences of humiliation that I wrote about under the previous post’s comments, it would appear that the individual’s 9th house is damaged ( retrograde jupiter in the 9th house for a libra asc). But the girl gets very good guidance and has significant occult abilities. She is also very religious. But these may be attributed to her strong lagna lord venus. In the cases of the humiliation, she was aware that it was all happening ahead of time and was able to mentally prepare herself, but couldn’t do anything to stop it.

I think sometimes when I look at complicated charts where there are many different yogs ( in this particular one, there is a partial kaal sarp, eclipse birth, shataka yog, parivartana yog between jupiter and mercury, the venus is Vargottama over numerous divisional charts, ) It is very difficult to pinpoint the problem because there are so many and it appears they are all contributing in one way or another. In these cases, how do you narrow down the remedies? It doesnt seem realistic to ask people to do numerous mantras, poojas, etc?

      2. astrologerbydefault Avatar

        Hi there
all problems are interlinked and there is only one way of destroying the root of it all. Manah sayyam.

        so
        1. stick to a daily routine, you can choose what to do at least 5 mins in the morning and 5 mins in evening, but once you decide, follow this routine to your last day. do not miss it even for one day. if you are travelling, then do it by visualising it in your mind.
        2. do all the activities on all the festival days as per the festival.
        3. do some puja / shanti etc on birthdays and anniversaries.
        4. if you know your kuldevata then remember him/her on their specific days.

that much is enough for normal people.

do try to understand that Sanatan dharma is a lifestyle.
if you do not want to change your life style to a dharmic one then you will suffer. no option.

in case of typical issues refer to your astrologer for specific remedies, but these remedies to be done for limited time only. eg some typical anushthan, paath etc.

Taking a guess from whatever I learned here.

10th house is connected to fame among other things. 12th from any house is loss of that keyword. 9th is 12th from 10th – so maybe loss of fame? I understand loss of fame doesn’t alway mean humiliation but in most cases loss of fame comes along with humiliation. This is the only connection I’m able to make.

If I’m wrong Ma’m can just let us both know.

      1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

        Hi there
        no

every house is how you are perceived by the agents of that house.

9th is how you are perceived by your seniors in your culture, peers, teachers, family gurus, your Kul, pitrs, dharmapati/dharmapatni etc.
to lose face in front of this group means that the 9th has to show a potential for inauspicious results.

Hi Mam, actually had a doubt about what you wrote… You mentioned that a person needs to understand that collecting and hoarding resources is important. Basically understanding 11th house things are important… He needs to understand himself as an individual first keeping aside his need for maternal security and comfort. But Ketu placed in the 11th also makes one apathetic to these things and would want to turn you towards Rahu… So should one try to work on Rahu’s energies? Or should one consciously work on 11th house energies?
    Thanks

I always feel blissful when I’m reading your posts. I understand most of them intellectually however still working on applying them in their entirety in my everyday life. Saturn periods make it especially difficult since there is a gradual but considerable increase in responsibilities, mundane & arduous tasks and new goals.

    Dear Tejaswini Ma’m,

Much gratitude for this timely article as I was reflecting on how to control and channelise destructive emotions. I have some queries :

    1. My Mars MD and thereafter Rahu MD is coinciding with our country Bharat’s Mars Mahadasha (starting 2025) and further Rahu MD. Will it give more adverse effects ? (My Asc Lord is Saturn and Mars in 10th house). When individual’s and land tract’s dashas start together, will it increase intensity of individual’s dashas?

    2. When Mars is capable in our charts to give anger issues, like in 1st or 10th house, conjunct with Rahu etc. ..will wearing a Mars stone aggravate it further?

Thank you for all the help and guidance you are providing to us !
