This Mahakumbh, we had already done Snan in the Triveni sangam on Paush Purnima and also on Makar Sankranti. But randomly we decided to go to Shri Kshetra Prayagraj on Mauni Amavasya again for the second Shahi snan.
It must have been a very strong direction from the Devi, that unbelievably we were back in her presence, standing in the Triveni teerth on 29th January 2025. Our third Snan in this Mahakumbh. This was a completely unplanned visit. We drove the whole night. It was 14hrs drive and we reached Prayagraj in the morning of 29th Jan. Surprisingly, and unbelievably we were able to enter the city and park the car.
Our first choice was to try to go to the Arail ghat as we were so impressed with the arrangements there. But this time we did not have this option. So it was Sangam Ghat on the Ganga river side for us.
We parked our car in a parking spot. Then we got an electric rickshaw from the parking place till the nearest point possible near the Ghat. Then we walked for 1km or so. We were then lucky to get a cycle rickshaw, this took us for another 3-4km. And then we walked the last 3km or so till the rivers edge.
The riverfront of the Sangam Ghat was extremely crowded. It was the Mauni Amavasya after all and standing on the river bank was a task in itself. We were part of 10 crore people, teerthyatris of Sanatan Dharma in that city at that time. And it was a massively powerful feeling.
We all may be diverse, look different, speak different languages but we are all the same. We give our children the same names, Pratham, Priya, Padma, Suraj, Laxmi, Shubham, all are the same from Arunachal Pradesh to Gujarat, Tamil nadu to Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh. On the roads we saw cars with registered in JK, MP, RJ, CH, CG, MH, HP, UP, UK, DL, HR, DD…. Our Bharat is ours… and it is such a magnificent feeling!
We did the Snan at the riverfront itself. The temperatures had increased in these past 15days and it was a sunny day. So the water was not as so cold as compared to 13th and 14th Jan 2025. We all the Arghya with our respective manasik mantras as we stood in the river. Imagine the mantra mixed water flowing out from our cupped palms, falling into the river. She amplifying the mantra infinitely and saturating us with Her power . But the power of the area ‘felt’ different. Despite the crores of people, the area felt ‘alone’ in a way. Amavasya is the power of Devi Kali, the Devi of the Sahasrar, the Merger of all Duality. It is Her Face, the Mirror in which the Eternal Shiva sees His Reflection. The utterly magnificent Devi Kali, the Supreme Devi of Sanatan Dharma.
Then we all came out of the river, found a suitable spot, changed, wore fresh clothes. Threw the wet clothes away. Wore the tilak on our foreheads, it is our own proclamation of our Dharma. Did our namaskars to the Triveni and started walking back. Walked for 2-3 km. Then found a cycle rickshaw to take us for 3-4 km. Then walked for another 1-2km. Then found a few bikers willing to take us on double seat till the parking lot. Got in the car, found a ‘Bhandara’ ate some food as Her prasad. Thanked Her for her Infinite kindness. Again drove back 14hrs in the night, reached our place in the early morning. And back to the office the next day.
So, repeating myself, if you are capable of travelling, do go and have an auspicious bath/Snan at the Triveni Sangam during this Mahakumbh 2025. It is an incredible indescribable experience. You have time till Maha Shivratri.
