Organ donation, to do or not to do

We inhabit our bodies for a limited period of time and then we leave it. After we leave the body, the antim sanskar, Anteyshti is performed, it is disposed by cremating it, offering it to Agni and then whatever remains after that, the Asti, are offered to a flowing river or the sea. Then we do the pindadaan and the chapter is closed.

In recent times, organ donation is being promoted as a kind thing to do. Most hospitals have trained personnel whose job is to secure organ donors. And in certain nations, the driving licence is issued with a “organ donor” tick mark. Overall organ donation is a rather touchy topic with emotional overtones, but this post needs to be written. (There were several questions.)

Organ donation while you are still alive, eg a kidney donated to a family member or anonymously to anyone else is your conscious choice with your living body. You keep on living with the implications of your choice to donate the organ. You needed this organ yourself but still you gave it away, this can be considered to be a ‘charity’ in some sense. This is between you and your conscience. It is your choice.

Organ donation, to do or not to do

But the organ harvesting after the individual soul leaves the body, ie after death, is different. ‘Death’ means the organs of senses and action have finally shut down and the individual soul does not maintain contact with the body or through it with the material world. The individual soul has completed the activities it had planned before it took birth and now it wants to go to the dimensions of the ancestral spirits, Pitrulok, rest and prepare for its new birth. A body deliberately kept on life support is not a living conscious person in the energy sense. Keeping a highly damaged body on life support, when the soul has decided to leave it, causes stress to the soul. In short, ‘death’ is when the sookshma sharir with the linga sharir and the jivatma leaves the sthool sharir.

The body ‘dies’, when the individual soul/ jivatma leaves it. Always remember that you are the soul and not the body. You do not need the body anymore thus you have discarded it. ‘Deh Tyag’ in Sanskrit. ‘Deh’ means the body or the manifestation. ‘Tyag’ means to withdraw, renunciate, resign, divorce, abandon, leave sacrifice, quit or forsake. Now this abandoned body is the responsibility of the heirs, your sons, brothers, father or husband. If these relations are not available then the nearest male blood relative is responsible. If no male relative exists then the female relatives have do it but with the help of the attendants in the Shmashan. And it is the responsibility of these heirs to dispose off the body left to them, as it is, as per the rules of Dharma. As per Dharma, the heirs do not have the authority to damage the body, cut it open or remove the organs or anything like that.

As per Dharma this body, in whatever shape has been left, has to be offered as a sacrifice to Agni, Anteyshti. Agni is not just fire, it is the conscious energy which we see as the fire. This Anteyshti is the last of the sixteen Sanskars for a Dharmic person, an energy evolution. The Agni has to consume the body and as the body gets consumed the blast of energy propels the individual soul to the dimension where it will reside till it get born again in this world.

Even if you have signed a donor card, the moment you leave the body, the body stops being yours, it belongs to your heirs. You have done ‘deh tyag’, definitively discarded the body, it does not belong to you anymore. And you cannot give away what does not belong to you. You cannot sign a donor card to force your heirs away from their Dharmic course of action. (Giving away the organs while still alive and continuing to live in that body is different. This action is between you and your conscience.)

Now an example. Recently one of my friend’s grandfather died. He had signed up for his corneas to be removed from the body after death. His heirs did this and then did the cremation etc. And then the trauma began, the youngest child in the family started seeing his great-grandfather around the house crying out that he has gone blind and what did you do to my eyes! As I have mentioned in my earlier posts also, babies and young children can see energies of other dimensions. They had to cleanse the house, offer the final tarpan at the Brahmakapaal, in Badrinath, Uttarakhand. In that they also offered a special offering with some mantras for making up the loss of the eyes. And another to atone for going against their Dharma and mutilating the body left to them. After these final tarpans the small child stopped seeing the departed soul around the house. However there is no way of determining if the tarpan has restored the energy of the eyes of the departed person or if it has helped him get resigned to his fate of being born blind in his next life. The energies of the organ removed will show its effects in the next life, so it is possible that you may be required to live out a future life without the organ which was removed from the discarded dead body.

Either way, this was a final confirmation for me that organ harvesting from a dead body affects the soul associated with it and is also a negative karma for the heirs. So the final on organ donation is, you can donate while you are living and continue to live after the donation. But organ harvesting after physical death or from a brain dead body is not a good idea.

Lessons from a baby

Why do we go to an astrologer? Reading horoscopes, cards, tarot, tea leaves, crystal balls is all superstition right? In this age of science, rationalism, feminism, –isms where does the Reader even find a place?

What I have seen is that people come to me for Hope. When all the rational stuff has failed the person searches for hope even in the seemingly irrational. When all efforts fail, the person turns to prayer, and thus to the Reader. There are so many things beyond our limited human senses and understanding. And we are so attracted to what we can easily see that we do not make efforts to “see” more. The Readers are those individuals who have tried to “see” more. When material explanations fail, we move towards the realm of energy and intentions. And the Reader is the one who helps us understand what is going on here.

Do you know that whatever is going to happen in your physical body can be “seen” in the aura, 6months in advance. If a body part is going to get diseased the aura of that specific organ goes grey 6 months in advance. A good aura Reader can point out problems in the aura even before the physical body shows any signs of it. And with reading the aura, you can know when someone is going to die, 6 months in advance, even for accidental deaths. The aura changes dramatically going thinner and less substantial and of course dead bodies have no aura.

Lessons from a baby

Back to what I wanted to write about.

I believe we are pure Intention. This body, is like the clothes which I change from time to time. But the Soul that we really are is Pure Intention/ Sankalp. The Ultimate Consciousness/ Parabrahma created my Soul/ Jeevatma for a Game/ Lila. This creation is the original Intention/ Sankalp. And because the part is also the whole, I am the Ultimate Myself. But I have limited myself, limited my Consciousness to this human consciousness/ Jeevatma and my power of my power of Creation to human limited creation. As a human I have limited myself to visualizing and creating materialistic things like my homework or my office projects. I never think about all the stuff that I can create with my power of intention using the energies that are available to me.

Do you remember when you were born? You could not move your arms, could not walk, could not feed yourself, could not communicate, could not understand. But you had faith that there is someone higher who is guiding you, taking care of you (your parents) and you waited and waited and had patience and waited some more. It took years, but then you could do all those things expertly and then whatever you learned as a baby you passed it on your own baby.

In this adult age, can you even understand how slowly time passes for a baby? Let’s learn a bit of maths to understand perception, differentials and the “rate of change”. Example, For a 80year old person the passage of 1 more year is 1/80 (0.0125) or 1.25% of his life lived till then. Thus times flies and birthdays become meaningless as you grow older. For a 2 year old the passage of 1 more year is 1/2 (0.5) or 50% of his life lived till then. Then for a one day old baby, the passage of one more day must seem like an absolute eternity. But the baby waits out this infinite time interval patiently.

We are all one day old babies in terms of understanding of energy. We have still a lot to learn before we learn to talk/ walk/ speak energy and only when we become experts at it, then will we pass it on. So be a baby, be patient, trust that someone who knows is looking after you. Wait patiently and you will also learn. But try to move yourself, see babies are always moving their arms, making unintelligible sounds and stuff, they just experiment with what they have, move, do it again and again, fall, cry, someone soothes them, but they keep on moving keep on trying.

And we all have to learn energy, there is simply no option, you can dilly dally or shilly shally, but ultimately you have to learn how to see energy, to feel energy, use energy and ultimately be Energy.

So practice something with Energy everyday for a few minutes, exercise your Intention, Create something new every time. Throughout my blog I have detailed so many baby steps that you can take, something must have appealed?

And I must say this now, this blog is my way of Creating lesser clients, my Intention is that everyone starts understanding their own energies and Reading for themselves, giving themselves Hope and hearing their own Prayers.

Lessons from a baby

Speak out!

We are always under so much pressure to conform, our parents, our teachers, our friends, the husband/wife, the children, the boss everyone has expectations from you. So you are the good little boy, a quiet student, the best buddy, the ideal man, the perfect worker, the best dad.. thats is a lot of work you have put in. But then in all this, who are you really? All these definitions are words stuck on you by others, thus hiding your own identity.

Another problem with others expectations is that, though you may feel overwhelmed but still you labour on because you are scared to hurt their feelings. Or in some self sadist way you think, “I will ruin my health doing work for him, then he will understand how much I have given up for him”. Else you feel that you are stronger and can afford to overwork yourself for those others. And the others keep on taking advantage of you.

Also it may be possible that the others may care about you really, but do not realise how tired you are working non stop. Just because you are so perfect at hiding yourself. You never speak out, never say that you are tired, just work like a robot. This is a problem then. You have to learn to speak up.

Speak out!

One of my clients is a woman, a PhD, a highly paid professional she works 6 days a week but also cooks food, takes care of her children and the parents. Is a dedicated wife and does her pujas etc too regularly. Even as a child she was an obedient child, good at studies and also arts/crafts. An ideal personality on the outside, but on the inside she was stressed out to the point of breaking but unable to express herself. Her horoscope analysis showed, ascendent libra, with saturn, mars, jupiter retrograde, mercury caizimi (within 1 degree of the sun) and true nodes in direct motion. Added to all this her ascendent venus was conjunct with ketu in the 5th house.

  1. Libra ascendent is a very typical person. Outwardly very balanced, likes beauty, polite, very good company, fair just etc but internally in a free fall and the back aches almost continually. They provide support to almost everyone they are in contact with, are extremely understanding and sensible. Thus when they are in need of support themselves, no one really believes them. Thus they do not get the support they desperately need so the physical support of the body, the back, aches.
  2. Retrograde planets, everyone has 1-2 planets retrograde, 3 is a bit rare but added to it the true node direct (they are usually retrograde) made for some very interesting observations.
  3. Saturn retrograde will make the person work and work and work, despite being very well off she was doing office and house work both.
  4. Retrograde Jupiter may make a person religious but will not give the results of the pujas, will be directionless spiritually or a follower of off-beat philosophies. Her pujas were certainly not being very fruitful.
  5. Mars retrograde is the saddest possible combination, as the expression of the will is nil, such a person cannot say “no”, is the silent worker without recognition.
  6. Mercury kaizmi, the powers of mercury were completely burnt out as it was less than 1degree from the sun. She could not communicate especially when talking about herself. Would develop a slight stammer and not find the words. It was painful to see someone like that.
  7. True nodes in direct motion. Her subconscious energies were of very high potential but blocked by heavy karmic factors.
  8. And the worst for the last, Venus ascendent with ketu. Internally disengaged from all relationships. Zero understanding of her own self and her emotional and physical hurts. Ketu is a “pretender” able to take up the personality the “other” wants. Anyone expecting something from her would get it. The Ketu would change her personality to suit what was being demanded of her. So she was superficially the ideal mother, student, wife etc but she was unaware of her own self. She had no “self identity”.

It was a long process of counselling her and her husband too and doing a series of mantras for ketu, mercury, sun and then finally saturn. She did deep healing with Vishnu Sahastranama and Srisukta. In this process she also learnt reiki and to do cards, Lenormand and Thoth. She was guided and helped but she did her self healing herself and used the tools given to her. And today at least she can speak up for herself and express what she feels and what she wants. She does a bit less housework and gives herself time. Her back aches less.

So speak up, express what ever is in your hearts. Do not wait till the emotional stress reaches such a point that the physical body starts getting damaged. If you are unaware of what you want, or cannot express it in words (it happens, I know) put this simple intention in the universe, “I will receive what I need to live my life health and happy on all levels”. Repeat this affirmation once a day for 21 days at least.

You have to take care of yourself first. Keep yourself mentally, emotionally and physically healthy so that you can move on and focus on to your spiritual health.

How deep is your love, 5th / 7th houses

As deep as your horoscope, I think!

The word “Love” has fired the minds of generations of poets, artists, singers, painters, dancers. We have songs and dramas set on the theme of undying love, love at first sight, star crossed lovers, love ending in tragedy, passionate love, platonic love and so on.

Astrologically love though is very different. There are two houses in the horoscope, the 5th and the 7th which play an important role in deciding our “love life”.

Today there is a fashion for young men and women fall in and out of love in a snap. This is in the domain of the 5th house of the horoscope. This emotion is not love, but more properly infatuation, a crush. The 5th house is the house of expressing creativity. The most creative emotion for a particular age group is then “falling in love. And we have our TV shows and popular culture to blame in part. Going out for a movie and a dinner then engaging in physical relations is now considered to be love, where it could in fact be lust. It is your 5th house working. This is more self-centered and both concentrate on their personal satisfaction.

Then we have the 7th house of the horoscope which determines the partnerships in your life. The most important one is obviously that of the life partner. So 7th house is also the house of marriage. The instant you and your husband/wife go around the marriage homam fire seven times with the intention of marriage this house gets operational. Now you and your husband/wife are bound deeply with each others karma. Both your 7th house placements and the placements of Venus, Jupiter and Mars now start affecting each other. If in his horoscope the 7th house lord is placed in his 12th house, the health of the woman who has married him will suffer irrespective of how strong her own horoscope is. If her own horoscope is well balanced the diseases will be mild but still she cannot escape the influence of his horoscope. On the other hand if some woman’s 7th house lord is placed in her 11th house, whoever marries her will be a very lucky man. His luck and fortunes will start rising spectacularly after the marriage.

How deep is your love, 5th / 7th houses

We Indians call the wife “Dharmapatni” and the husband “Dharmapati”. It means the wife/husband who helps us in carrying out our actions as per the Dharma. Now Dharma means a lot of things but basically it is about completing our karmic debts in a manner acceptable to our own conscience/antaratma.

The shift of karma after marriage can be so intense that sometimes the the 9th divisional chart can get more important than the main birth chart, completely changing the individual. Sometimes you get to see this, after marriage some persons change 180degrees, get more serious, completely wrapped up in the husbands family, etc it is rare now but yes if you observe there are examples.

So it is very important to remember that your girlfriend/boyfriend is your 5th house and your wife/husband is the 7th house of the horoscope. For example, suppose your 5th house is in a very good shape and you get the girlfriend of your dreams, so you date for a bit then get married but then everything collapses! Why? You blame each other and everyone around you, but the real reason is in the horoscope. The 7th house was afflicted with malefic influences. You blame her that she changed after marriage! She did not, the relationship and the factors controlling that relationship changed from a well placed 5th house to a 7th house under malefic influence.

Another curious thing, suppose he has a nicely balanced 7th house but she has a 7th affected by malefic influences. So now both have different perceptions regarding their marriage. He feels that his wife is the best thing that ever happened to him and she utterly dislikes her married life and if extreme may get into extramarital affairs or file for divorce. And he is all unknowing and happy with her. You do see such examples around you. These are all the horoscope combinations at work.

So now, If your 7th house has problems, not get married forever? No, not marrying is not acceptable, as you miss having a life partner who can actively help you complete your karma. And you too help her. Or then there are situations, after getting married you both cannot adapt to the changes. So for such cases, there are astrological remedies prescribed. The easiest one is to recite the Srisukta. (the first 16 verses are the srisukta)

But there is one category of individual for whom not getting married is allowed. Those horoscopes with very potent interactions of Ketu, Shukra, Bruhaspati, where negligible pending karma is indicated. These individuals get ‘married’ to their deity/philosophy/spiritual practice. These individuals from a very young age display signs of being indifferent to worldly attachments and may even take sanyas or live their lives in deep solitude and active meditation/dhyan. These horoscopes have the possibility of moksha in them.

For all the rest of us, we have to go through the highs and lows of the 7th house with our life partner. And your regular practice of Srisukta. May Shri Laxmi bless your marriage.

And finally as Doctor Who says, “Love”, Love is not an emotion, Love is a promise!”

How deep is your love, 5th / 7th houses

Devguru, conventional wisdom

Now lets discuss Jupiter/Bruhaspati for a bit, the biggest planet in the solar system and in the horoscope too it is quite the heavy weight. A really important planet and his placement can bring up the quality of the horoscope. A nicely placed Jupiter in the 1st, 5th, 7th, 9th houses covers the other important houses with its 5th, 7th and 9th aspects thus can balance your horoscope beautifully.

Jupiter just expands. If placed in the 2st house, you may belong to a large and well off family. In the 5th he will expand love affairs, formal education, children and expressions of creativity. If in the 6th house he will expand your enemies/debts/diseases. And if let loose, unsupervised in the 7th he will expand your partnerships and may even give you several husbands/wives. “Expansion” is his trait and this is modified by presence and aspects of other planets which interact with him in the horoscope. His second important trait is that he does not actively stop harm, but is quite good at “kissing and making an injury better”, and reduces the recovery time after you have got hurt. If he is quite well placed in your horoscope he might just mildly point out that there is a danger ahead but that is about it. But at bandaging and dressing up your hurts he is the best.

So if you want to be able to hear his mild warnings clearly or you you want to shorten your recovery times after the accident do light a desi cow milk ghee lamp on thursdays with the mantra,ॐ  देवानां च ऋषीणां च गुरुं काञ्जनसंनिभं बुद्धिभूतं त्रीलोकेशं तं नमामि बृहस्पतिं ॐ . If you so feel inspired you can chant the bruhaspati beej mantra ॐ ग्रां ग्रीं ग्रौं सः गुरूवे नमः 108 times, If you are chanting for yourselves it is pronounced as Om grang gring graung sah gurave namah. If you are chanting it for you loved one it is to be pronounced as Om gram grim graum sah gurave namah. If you are even more inspired you can do a homam using this same beej mantra replacing the namah by a swaha.

The stone which resonates with jupiter’s energy is yellow sapphire. In India, this stone is quite popular as Jupiter is supposed to be quite benign and wearing his stone is considered safe. But again compared to gemstones the mantras are more effective as the mantras represent your personal effort, repeated weekly mindfully and with intention. And I repeat, intention and repeated sincere efforts is everything.

One interesting observation is when you have your Jupiter return. Meaning when Jupiter makes one full round of the zodiac and comes back to the same position as in your birth horoscope. As Jupiter takes 12 years to complete one cycle he returns every 12 years. So if you are 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 84 etc yrs old this one year of Jupiter return will increase your maturity levels in unexpected ways. This year will actually make you older and wiser. So watch out and mindfully make use of this opportunity. Jupiter is ultimately a wise teacher so teaches responsibility and maturity in a relatively gentler manner.

On the other hand a Jupiter transit over your 1st house/ascendent can expand your body, you might actually get fatter, but also your role in society. And his transit over your birth moon sign can help you grow emotionally wiser and understanding.

Jupiter, Venus and Ketu/South node are the major planets in determining spirituality and the progress on this road to moksha. If they are all together or in beneficial mutual aspects then the native can achieve a lot if he takes up some spiritual practice.

And now, you might feel all this to be rather silly, I mean really what can a large gaseous planet actually do?

So lets do this to understand. We all live in cities and what with the light pollution and the smog we really have forgotten how the night sky looks like. And it is such a loss! So in the night today go out and look out of the window and remember how the smoggy skies look like. Then for your next vacation choose a location where “star gazing” is an activity. Then during your vacation, lie down under the night sky and look at the stars and the planets. If your mind is still enough you might sense the energy that this starry night has. Even if you cant sense the energy, I am sure you will feel refreshed on a very deep level.

This is the energy from the stars that we try to map out on a horoscope and every star and planet is different.
