The New Vedic Samvatsar 2026- 27 is called the Shri पराभव Parabhaava Naam samvatsar. The year 2025-26, was named Shri Vishvaavasu and it will end on the Phalgun Amavasya. The Sun and Moon are together in Pisces on this day and that is why this Amavasya marks the end of one Samvatsar, the Vedic year.
The Vedic new year, Shri Parabhaava starts with the sunrise of the Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, from 19th March 2025. This day is called the Yugadi युगादि. Shri पराभव is the 40th year in the 60yr Vedic year sequence. Parabhav पराभव a Sanskrit word which means – defeat, vanishing, separation, ruin, overthrow, injury, humiliation, disappearance, dissolution, contempt, destruction. And all these themes will be active in this year. Most of us will face issues connected to this energy in this year. Some of us will also get to enjoy the opposing themes, ie to win over others, to destroy others, to harm others etc, these few should be ready for the karmic returns of their such negative actions. For the rarest few who are inclined towards internal spirituality, this year can allow you to defeat your individual ego to gain the universal ego, but the process will not be easy.
It is a difficult year.
Major planetary events in the New Vedic Year
The background energy of a time is dependant on the 4 slow moving graha, Saturn Rahu Ketu and Jupiter. In Shri Parabhava,
- Jupiter will change his sign thrice – He enters Cancer on 2nd June. Then he enters Leo on 31st Oct. Then re-enters Cancer on 25th Jan 2027. Jupiter is exalted in Cancer.
- Rahu enters Capricorn on 25th Nov 2026.
- Ketu enters Cancer on 25th Nov 2026.
- Saturn remains in Pisces throughout this Samvatsar.
The major planets, Jupiter and Saturn go retrograde and this change in apparent direction also affects the results they give. In Shri Parabhava,
- Saturn will be going retrograde from 27th Jul to 11th Dec 2026. He remains in Pisces during this time.
- And Jupiter will be going retrograde from 13th Dec 2026 to 13th Apr 2027.
The 4 eclipses in this Vedic year will influence us, two solar and two lunar. Eclipses trigger karmic overload and trigger intense events in the nations where they are visible. In this Vedic year,
- Solar eclipses – total on 12th Aug 2026 and annular on 6th Feb 2027
- Lunar eclipses – a umbral eclipse on 27th Aug 2026 and a insignificant penumbral one on 20th Feb 2027
Also the Kaal sarpa combination will form intermittently for alternating 15 days in the months – March to July. The combination will be broken for 15 days as the fast moving Moon moves out of the hemming. In any case this is another negative as it will trigger pending karma of focussed obsession and mindless destruction. It will break when Venus crosses Ketu on 10th July. The intermittent 15-days periods for the Kaal sarpa combination are
- 16 Mar – 31 Mar
- 14 Apr – 27Apr
- 11 May – 24 May
- 7 Jun – 20 Jun
- 4 Jul – 10 Jul

Planetary government for 2026 – 27
The Nav Nayak system of planetary governance is used to predict the possible events. For Shri Parabhava naam samvatsar, the Nav Nayak, the 9 portfolios and their rulers are as follows –
- Raja King – Jupiter Guru
- Mantri Minister – Mars Mangal
- Senadhipati Commander of the Armies – Moon Chandra
- Argyhadhipati – Moon Chandra
- Meghadhipati – Moon Chandra
- Sasyadhipati – Jupiter Guru
- Dhanyadhipati – Mercury Budha
- Rasadhipati – Saturn Shani
- Neerasadhipati – Jupiter Guru
In this year the naturally gentle planets, Jupiter and Moon, have 6 out of the 9 portfolios. Jupiter is in Gemini. This year, he is able to act independently of the others so there may be some positives for those nations who have a strong ‘birth Jupiter’. He will be exalted briefly when he is in Cancer so these nations/ people must make the best of these windows of opportunities. Then the Moon on Yugadi day is as always with the Sun in Pisces. But this time he is also conjunct Saturn and Venus, and that is not comfortable. Both Saturn and Venus consider the Moon as their enemy. The new year, Yugadi day has Sun Moon Venus and Saturn in Pisces. All 4 are not comfortable with each other and they are also disturbing the energy of the most sensitive sign Pisces. Pisces is the most sensitive sign so any problems in it spill over to the rest of the zodiac.
The naturally cruel planets, Mars and Saturn have one post each this year. Mercury is an impressionable planet, he behaves like the influences on him. This year he is more influenced by the cruel planets so will behave like them. So cruel planets have 3 out of the 9 posts. Rahu Mars and Mercury are in Aquarius, the sign of the ‘collective’. Rahu and Mars together indicates violence and Mercury will support them with his now cruel logic. The Shri Parabhava starts with Mars combust. He went combust from 1st Nov 2025 and will remain burnt out till 2nd May 2026. Additionally Saturn is also combust on Yugadi day.
The most important roles are the King, Mantri and Senaadhipati. This year we have a generally uncomfortable situation where King and Senaadhipati are gentle planets and the Mantri is a very aggressive planet. This means that the governments and armies will be forced to act and often against their better sense by aggressive war hawk advisors.
This Vedic year’s government has another problem. Sun and Venus do not have any portfolio in the government. This means that their keywords will not be prominent in this year’s energy. Things indicated by Sun and Venus are not going to be important in the public’s or the government’s perspective.
Surya, Sun is the real king. And this year, he is absent from the scene. Thus there will be confusion, misdirection and a general headlessness all around. This ‘lack of genuine leader like qualities’ will affect all governments, all politicians, bureaucrats, anyone who is in a ‘leadership’ role. The true royal not being involved in active governance is not good. Governments will not be able to take effective action. Leaders will not be able to take appropriate actions. And in the present global situation this can lead to dangerous events. Additionally on Yugadi, the Sun is combusting Mantri Mars and Rasadhipati Saturn. Thus he will be exerting an invisible and problematic influence over these two.
Venus is also missing in this Shri Parabhav’s government. Luxuries, material goods, enjoyable one-one relationships, spiritual practice, good times spent with friends/family, entertainment venues, etc all will take a back-seat. Refinement, elegance, grace, love in all its forms, will not be important. Also partnerships, diplomacy, trade contracts, legality of things, fairness etc will not be given due importance. Venus is the stored treasuries and the regular income you get out of trade/ contracts. These both types of money will be affected. And all this has dangerous implications for todays’s world.

The detailed yearly prediction for each of the planets
Now the detailed Varshaphal, ‘fruits of the vedic year’ for each graha in the planetary governance. The positions of the planets on the Yugadi day determines their results and the auspiciousness of their results in the year. Only possible trends can be indicated by Jyotish. What will actually happen is completely in the hands of Bhagwan Mahakaal and Devi Mahakali. They control the flow of Time and the unfolding of the karmic fruits.
Varshaphal Jupiter – Raja, Sasyadhipati and Neerasadhipati –
Jupiter, Guru will express his power through three different ministries. He is the force of philosophy, kindness, help, truth, learning and teaching etc. He will not be very effective as a King. Then ‘Sasya’ means all things which are derived from the earth. And everything that is further manufactured using these primary materials. As Sasyadhipati Jupiter can manage some good results. But this year the King/ Sasyadhipati, in charge of the ‘essences which do not nourish’, is not a good sign.
This year the governments/ politicians/ leaders will show off their ‘religious intensity’. People will show off their spirituality, do big rituals, engage in open display of faith in one way or the other. Especially young men/ women will be aggressively religious and also fight for their religions. Some unpleasant truths, secrets connected to governments, nations, history, religion, philosophy/ etc will come out into the open. This can be a good/bad thing depending on the context. Mostly all this will lead to even more conflicts. As groups try to assert their own life philosophies, whatever they may be, and also try to force others to follow them.
All over the world there will be misuse of religious positions for personal power. One point of concern is that mismanagement/ stampedes etc are possible at pilgrimage places of various religions. If you donate money for your religion, first make sure that the religious organisation is spending the money properly. This applies to all Abhramic religions and also for Vedic dharma, and even to athiests.
People will claim to follow ‘Sanatan dharma’ and yet they will continue to insult the Dev /Devi. Dharma is not big fancy rituals but everyone will do just this drama without understanding the core. Real understanding of Dharma will go down even further. In India, prominent leaders will be shown to be actually ‘religious businessmen’. And foreigners who claim to be followers of Sanatan dharma, yoga gurus etc, will also be exposed as major frauds.
Then everyone’s health will be affected in some way or the other. Age and lifestyle related diseases will be more common. Obesity and diabetes will increase. New diseases will be seen and new medicines/ vaccines etc will also come in the market. Natural disasters will claim more lives.
Deaths of important political and significant religious leaders are expected, by age or illness. World over, the ‘old guard’ will be replaced by new people. Some of these new people in power will be very confused and some will be extraordinary. Good intentions are not enough if you do not have the capacity to rule. There will be new ideas in governance, of which some will be very good and some really bad.
Then unfortunately humans will continue destroying their own intelligence. Artificial Intelligence has become the most dangerous hazard to Real Intelligence. Humans are actively lowering their own intelligence as they consume the general trash content online. 30yrs ago, when we were children, we would actually learn, train our minds, actually physically play, use our hands, learn to use tools, meet with real people, learn skills etc and retain that information/ skills. Today we have no real learning, the kids of today are ‘screen controlled’ and this is a very slippery slope.
In India, the system does not really reward true intelligence/ invention / innovation. So these really intelligent men/ women have to face double challenges. They need to find an opportunity, grab it and then showcase their genius. Those who manage to do so, when the odds are against them are the most determined people alive. They must keep their senses intact and rise to the challenges which are coming up. If they do so they will gain tremendous recognition.
Jupiter is going to change his sign thrice in this year. He will be exalted in Cancer but the retrograde back to Gemini means that his results will not be sustained. He will give financial shocks to several nations. Recession, inflation etc is already on and will continue.
Varshaphal for Mars – Mantri –
Mars is the Minister for the Vedic New Year Shri Parabhava. He is the force of conquest, aggression, invasions, competition etc. Mantri, Prime Minister is the closest advisor to the King. The King confers with him before taking any actions. As Minister, Mars will advise the King towards violence and all his keywords. There will be less coordination between people, societies, nations and governments. A general breakdown in governance is expected.
Expect more disputes, disagreements, wars, civil issues as Mars affects all human minds. The government policies may favour some groups and then there may be splits in the society. War like situations will exist throughout the world, in your office and home.
The army, soldiers, arms and ammunition manufacturers etc anyone dealing with the military, law enforcement, arms supply, research etc will benefit in this year.
Women will be more on the receiving end as no one will listen to their genuine problems. Men will ignore problems at home and be more interested in the wars and issues out of the house. Divorce rates will increase. And when a home breaks, the real losers are the children. So for your children’s sake, avoid petty fights at home. Learn to be patient. Also encourage your children to take up martial arts and sports, they can excel in physical activities in this year.
This year be alert when interacting with your siblings and cousins as there may be some unpleasant moments.
Nations who do not have the capacity will engage in over-confidence, bravado and stupid actions which will hurt their citizens. All the known flash points, border issues, civil issues will be triggered. There may be some attempts to restore normalcy but the war hawks will be more dominant. Peace, if possible will be uneasy and short lived.
Most typical reading is that religious leaders will become aggressive and almost militant. Every religion will see an major upheaval in this year. Even followers of the Vedic Dharma will go through this phase. Some of us will become atheists and trigger even more havoc.
All red colored materials, red crops, fiery spices, red metals, all electronic goods, gold, ayurvedic medicines, herbs, etc will become more expensive this year. Exporters can gain more money if they choose their business tactics properly.
Mars is the son of the Earth, Devi Pruthvi, so he can trigger events like earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides etc. People living in active / earthquake risk areas should be alert. Land prices will go up again and construction activity will also pick up.
Mars can trigger accidents connected to human error and sabotage. Accidents connected to public transport, aircraft, railways etc are possible. Industries connected to fuel must remain alert.
Finally Mars will also increase the number of people dying this year. If you work in high risk sectors, have medical issues etc then be alert.

Varshaphal for the Moon – Senadhipati, Meghadhipati, Arghyadhipati .
This Vedic year the Moon controls three portfolios. As the Commander of the Armies his way of fighting will be very torturous. This year expect fights connected to emotions. Nations will fight for resources. Family members will fight with each other. Family secrets, state secrets will come out in the open. Spies will have a great time and honey trapping type of clandestine activities will be on a high. Expect scandals connected to celebrities and leaders to spoil their careers. There will be a lot of turbulence in war. Sudden changes, unexpected moves, different strategies will make things difficult to predict. Moon is a fast moving graha. So every nation will randomly fight with each other. Small issues will escalate unexpectedly. Wars will be fought more on the seas and under the seas.
Almost all nations will face a sort of ‘collective emotional insanity’ from their citizens. Governments will fall prey to emotional ‘blackmail’ from their citizens and pressure from external agents. This will result in vote bank appeasement and wasting money on emotional issues which are irrelevant for the nation’s wellbeing’s and growth. The real issues of national security will not be given much importance. Society can split on issues like religion, language, culture etc. Every nation must be prepared for internal civil riots.
I expect weather manipulation, rain/droughts to be used as a weapon of war. Summer will be hot. Later I expect strong winds and heavy rains. Thunderstorms, hailstorms etc are possible which may also destroy crops. Accidents connected to water will be more in this year.
Prices of all items connected to the Moon, milk, pearls, silver, rice, flowers, white colored items etc will fluctuate but will be on a rising trend. The stock market will fluctuate wildly.
One thing that young people must be alert about is addictions. A general lack of internal stability can push several people towards drugs.
The society will be more money minded. Real warmth in relations will be reduced. Avoid being kind or generous towards undeserving people. Budgeting and smart financial planning is necessary this year. People may lose jobs as industries are temporarily affected/ closed down permanently.
USA especially will continue to turn on its friendly nations. Its actions this year can put the rest of the world in great danger. Currently it is actively attacking Iran. This will continue for a few months. And after this ends with an uneasy peace, another war will begin. No place on earth will see continued peace and security in this year.
Varshaphal for Mercury – Dhanyadhipati –
Dhanya generally means all the food items that we eat. But in broader terms, this year Mercury controls everything that is ‘produced’.
So this year Mercury will increase the prices of all the crop derived food items. All cereals grains, oil, meats, condiments etc will see a price rise. Milk and milk products will also see a price rise. Food production of all crops will be adequate and trade in food items will increase. Investing in these will give good profits. Imported fruits/ foods will be in demand. Seasonal fruits will see less production, so losses for farmers but good profits for traders.
Be careful when eating out, as food adulteration is more likely this year. People will prefer processed food, or home deliveries as less time/inclination to cook at home. There will more ‘variety’ in these ready to eat foods, but they will neither satisfy nor nourish.
New methods of ore extraction will be used. All metals including precious metals will be profitable. Chemical manufacturing and chemicals will also be expensive and profitable.
Pay special attention to your children and teenagers. Their overall health may be affected this year. Especially skin related, nerve related issues are possible. Make sure they eat proper food. And keep an eye on who they ‘follow’. Try to install a sense of purpose and ambition in your kids, do not let them waste their time.
Varshaphal for Saturn -Rasadhipati –
Saturn is the karmic enforcer he is a dry, dour ‘aged’ planet. And rasa is all the essences which nourish you in all ways. Eg the tasty food you eat may satisfy your hunger but actually its ‘essence’ really nourishes you, like junk food is tasty but it has no nutritional value. And the Rasadhipati 2026-27 Saturn is a desiccated force, who is not really suited to this role.
On Yugadi day he is with Sun, Moon and Venus in Pisces. He does not get along with Sun or Moon. He is also combust. He is friends with Venus but they do not give good results when together. Plus point is that he is in Uttarabhadrapada which suits his energy.
So this Vedic year, no one will not be satisfied with what they get. Life will seem dry, uninspiring. Aging, greying hair etc will be more common. People will use more make up and cosmetic surgeries. Men and women both will waste money in beauty salons.
This year oily materials will be in demand. This includes crops which give oil – eg coconuts, groundnuts etc. All juicy fruit crops will give less production and may fail. Fragrant flower crops which are used for perfumes can also fail. All tasty crop items will be produced less. Also more chances of adulteration in milk, honey, juices, sweets etc. Medicines will be adulterated and will not give the desired positive effects.
People will engage in unproductive actions. They will waste their energies in doing things which do not really serve any purpose. Mental health issues, loneliness will be more common. It is important to maintain good diet, rest and ensure good health in this time. Even if you do not feel motivated, do exercise, meet people, try to read good books etc in this year.

On the new year day, do take some time to reflect on what has happened to you in this past year Shri Vishvavasu and think on how you will use the opportunities that the new Shri Parabhava will bring for you.
The overall results for individuals will depend on the power of the personal horoscope. If you have a strong birth horoscope, ie a strong ascendant sign/ lord or a strong birth Moon or a strong Ashtakvarga table or your D1 D9 dynamics is strong or if several of your planets are Vargottam etc then you are better equipped to deal with whatever comes up in life. If the basic personality is strong, then you will be able to easily tide over issues in life.
If you are undergoing Dasha periods of benefic planets, you will get their help in overcoming any possible negatives now.
And if you have helpful planetary transits over your birth chart positions, then these graha too can create opportunities for you. Even if you feel that things are going adverse you will be able to make something positive for yourself.
Pujas for the new year Day.
Pujas for welcoming the new Samvatsar are similar all over the nation. Obviously there will be local and cultural variations but the basic concept remains the same. Briefly,
- Everyone should wake up before sunrise, get fresh etc.
- Rangoli, Kolam etc is to be drawn outside the front door. Torans, garlands of marigold flowers, ripened wheat stalks, mango leaves etc should be tied to the front door.
- The daily Agnihotra is to be performed at the exact sunrise time.
- Next is to offer Arghya to the newly risen Sun.
- Regular pujas of the household deities are to be performed.
- The head of the family should read the Varsha phal from the new year’s Panchangam so that the entire family hears it. This is most important.
- A naivedyam is offered to the deity and distributed as prasadam. This is a specific mixture of of neem flowers/new neem leaves, coriander seeds, jaggery, tamarind and sea-salt. These are all coarsely crushed together and this is the first thing you will eat on the new year morning.
- Then the family should go to a local temple, do puja, give Daan and intend for a Happy and Auspicious New Year.

Dr. Tejaswini Arvind Patil.
