An eclipse is an intense combination of light and shadows where the kings of illusions Rahu Ketu and the luminaries of the zodiac Sun Moon briefly merge their powers. Eclipses are trigger events releasing significant karma in a short period of time. Most of us get swept away in their power, but for spiritual aspirants these are eagerly awaited events.

There was a massive total lunar eclipse on the night of 7 – 8 Sept 2025 and now a partial solar eclipse is expected on 21^st Sept 2025. This is the Bhadrapad Amavasya, the Sarvapitri Amavasya, it is the Mahalaya, the last day of the fortnight of the departed ancestors and it is an intense energy. On this night, the routes between the dimension of the departed ancestors and us living on this earth close and remain closed for 1 year.

The time frame of the eclipse is as follows –

This eclipse is visible earth for about 4.5 hrs, so its global level effects will gradually fade over the next 4.5yrs. This Khandagras Surya Grahan will be seen in New Zealand, Antarctica and the islands in this area. People who live in these areas, where the eclipse is visible, have to perform the pujas – daana, mantra etc to safely channelise the eclipse energies. If you live in an area where the eclipse is not visible then it will give only indirect effects in your life.

Leo sign which has Moon and Ketu in it. Virgo has Mercury and Sun. On the opposite side, Aquarius has Rahu. Then Saturn is in Pisces, within 15 deg of Rahu, so he is involved to some extent. Note whatever these planets – Sun, Moon, Mercury, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu signify in your chart. They might trigger a sudden release of karma in these areas of your life, these may be opportunities or challenges as per your individual horoscope. The remaining planets are not involved in this eclipse.

Sun is in Uttaraphalguni nakshatra. This lunar mansion is owned by the Nakshatra Devata Aryamaan and it is linked to Sun himself. Ketu is eclipsing the combined Sun and Moon. Mercury is combust as he is close to the Sun. The combined eclipse energy will be channeled through the Uttaraphalguni filter. 

Subtle effects are connected to the nakshatra and this eclipse in Uttaraphalguni will affect all of us on the subconscious levels. For most of us, we will not be able to understand what is really happening around us. It will be like a fog on the intelligence. ‘Herd mentality’ will become more prominent as people will not be able to think for themselves. Those of us in positions of power will become harsher, political leaders may seem to be more selfish, pompous, megalomanic. Conflicts in this time will be more mass riots remote controlled by shadowy leaders. I expect some nations / large corporations etc, to ‘gamble’, ie take unbelievable risks in this time as leaders use the combined eclipse energy in devious ways.

Ketu is the most powerful graha of Jyotish. He is the ‘Dark Light’, the flash of pure intelligence which shines in the 3rd eye. Sun is the ‘Visible Light’. And Moon is the ‘Reflected Light’. Mercury with them means that he can grant us the ability to really analyse and think on what is really happening. Those of us who can absorb this eclipse energy in a useful manner will see a drastic change in perspective. I expect new leaders to be ‘born’ in this time. Individuals who will be great leaders in the future, will have their seeds in the events in the 1 month before and after the eclipse. Solar eclipses are more powerful than lunar eclipses. This eclipse is more visible in uninhabited areas so its effects on people as such will be lesser. But it will fall over over major water bodies, Southern parts of the Pacific and the Southern seas are going to witness the eclipse. And this energy release is going to affect the weather patterns which will originate from these parts of the oceans. There will be cyclones, heavy rains, winds and extreme weather especially in the areas which will witness this eclipse. Weather patterns will be significantly affected for the next 1-2 months, there will be excessive rain, wind, cyclones, flooding etc. An undersea earthquake or tsunami like situation is very likely. These oceans may see conflicts and war like situations in the near future. Accidents related to water and in water bodies can happen. People with susceptible horoscopes should avoid going swimming in unfamiliar water bodies as drowning type of deaths are possible. And this effect on the climate will trigger a generally colder winter this year. 

Solar eclipses are connected to political events. This time the eclipse will be visible only in a few nations, so the political turmoil on the global level will be comparatively lesser. This is actually a relief as we have just seen a tremendous lunar eclipse just 2 weeks ago and we could not have sustained through another massive solar eclipse. New Zealand should be prepared for some political uncertainty. Also nations who have typical combinations in their ‘birth chart’, will see political turmoil. In fact most nations will feel some political changes as Leo is ruled by the Sun.

Sun represents political power, the ‘royal’ people, government leaders. Anyone who leads at any level in life does so by the power of Sun and Leo. Thus this eclipse will have some impact on the leaders on this earth, direct or indirect, positive or negative.

For the individual nations and personal charts you have to see the power and position of Leo sign in your chart. If you have any birth planets in Leo or even in Aquarius signs, then be careful of their significations. You might get a sudden opportunity or an unexpected setback.

If you have a Yogkarak level Ketu or even Rahu in your birth chart then some rare opportunities can open up for you in this time. You will be able to make use of this energy for constructive and beneficial purposes. So keep your eyes open.

Transit results are always seen as per the the birth Moon signs. For Leo and Aquarius birth Moon signs, this eclipse will be associated with life time changes. If you have your Birth Moon or Ascendant degree in Uttaraphalguni or Krutika or Uttarashadha nakshatras then you should be careful in this time frame. Also if you have any birth planets in Leo, Virgo or Aquarius signs, then be careful of their significations.

For everyone else, the following results will be strongly seen for about 1 month after the eclipse. Briefly for the signs of the zodiac.

Aries birth Moons – might get some breathing space in this time. Make use of this power to settle any pending issues. Do some creative work or spend some quality time with your kids.

Taurus birth Moons – will feel restless in your profession and home life too will be a bit unsettled. Find some ways to utilise the excess energy instead of just randomly moving here and there.

Gemini birth Moons – will get some unexpected good luck so make use of the time to rest. Plan some good times with friends and family. You might get some unexpected profits in trade.

Cancer birth Moons – may need to spend some money suddenly but for some good purpose. But keep track of your finances, do not loan your money to others.
