Every graha (except Rahu and Ketu) fully aspects the house placed 7^th to it. Only the three outer planets, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn have additional aspects.

• Saturn fully aspects the houses placed 3^rd and 10^th from him in addition to the 7^th
• Jupiter fully aspects the houses placed 5^th and 9^th from him in addition to the 7^th.
• Mars fully aspects the houses placed 4^th and 8^th from him in addition to the 7^th.

In my practice, I have seen that the additional aspects are more intense than the regular 7^th aspect. And the reason is quite simple. The 7^th aspect is a mutual aspect where both the planets influence each other. Eg, if in your chart, Saturn is aspecting the Sun with his 7^th aspect, then the Sun too is aspecting him back with his own 7^th aspect. So both Saturn and Sun have to come to some sort of an understanding on how to behave with each other and this eventually allows the personality to cope with both. As you age, you will intelligently harmonise the qualities of Saturn and Sun so that you remain in balance between these two. And if your horoscope has a strong ascendant lord/sign and Moon then this equilibrium is achieved early in life.

But with Saturn’s extra 3^rd or 10^th aspect, the aspected planet has no option but to endure Saturn staring down at him, without influencing him in return. This makes the other planet extremely uncomfortable and often spoils his significations. Eg, if in your chart, Saturn is aspecting the Moon with his 3^rd or the 10^th aspect then the Moon has no option but to endure Saturn’s constrictive influence on his significations. You do know that something is not right with your Moon but you do not have the right tools to manage the issue and thus continue to suffer in the aspects of life signified by this Moon.

Saturn is discipline, responsibility, hard work, perseverance, restriction, delay, endurance, structure, authority, rules, system, process, practicality, obstacles, frustrations, pragmatism, maturity, society, profession, father, age, karma etc. He is Time in all its grandness, grinding down the petty ego. With Saturn, no excuses are possible.

So let’s analyse what happens when Saturn aspects other planets with his additional 3^rd or 10^th aspects.

• If this aspect is in your birth chart then it will be a lifetime energy for you. Eg if your birth Saturn is aspecting your birth Mercury with his 3^rd aspect, then you carry this energy for lifetime.
• If this is an in transit Saturn aspecting one of your birth planets then it will be a testing time at the individual level. Eg a transiting Saturn in Aquarius aspecting a birth Mars in Aries, then energy will last as long as Saturn is in transit in Aquarius.
• If this is a transit Saturn aspecting another in transit planet then it will be a testing time on the collective level, for all of us together. Eg currently the transiting Saturn in  Aquarius is aspecting the transiting Rahu and Jupiter both in Aries, this is happening now in the skies, which is affecting all of us.

If Saturn is influencing Rahu without being influenced in return means that you will be required to streamline your Rahu. You will be asked to walk the ‘Rahu’ talk, fulfill that all the promises you make under his influence. Prove that you are serious about the rosy dreams you have shown your self/your family/ your boss etc. You will be required to work hard to realise all the ‘Rahu’ ambitions that you harbour in your secret heart. If you really desire something, Saturn will force you prove yourself by making you work hard for it. Else you will have to accept that your dream was just an illusion and not practical in real life. We believe that we are capable of so much, or that we can get away with a lot. Also we all have an image of ourselves in our minds, and this is often an inflated version of the real us. Saturn will tear away these rosy self – illusions and we will have to accept our new diminished, flawed and very human self image. This is what is happening right now with Saturn in Aquarius aspecting Rahu in Aries and will continue till Nov 2023 (post here).

Eg if your birth Rahu is in the 11^th house, then this current Saturn aspecting Rahu will ensure that you see the real face of your friends, your extended like minded social groups and your older siblings. If you earlier had rosy pictures or high expectations of happiness/profit from these things then you will be shown their reality. You must have gone through sudden breakups with friends or must have been weirdly cut off from your regular society or must have faced a sudden loss in income.

Saturn aspecting Jupiter with his additional aspects, causes issues in mental/physical health, obstacles in spiritual growth, legal problems, issues with education, trouble with the spouse, stress from elders etc. And the root cause for these problems is because you have become too dependant on Jupiter’s significations. You wait for your luck to help you, you hope your seniors will support you, you pray for divine intervention. You hope that your Guru or your deity will help you break or at least bend the rules. Hope, generally, is not a bad thing, the problem is with misdirected hope. You know internally that what you want is not good for you, but still you hope that that you would get it in some way or the other, thus you act in illogical and impractical ways.

When Saturn aspects Jupiter with his extra aspects, you will be forced to revaluate the sources of support in your life. Were you depending on someone without good reason? Were you were hoping for support/help from someone who was not worth it? Did you think that some person in your life was wise, knowledgeable, pious, religious, auspicious for you etc but in reality he was not? Or were you following a faulty life philosophy? Then these facts will be brought to your notice by Saturn.

More importantly, Jupiter is the natural agent for marriage, Dharmapati/ Dharmapatni. So in this time frame, you might be required to accept and digest certain bitter truths about your marriage/ spouse. Some things which you were trying to ignore about your marriage will have to be addressed. Saturn will bring them out in the open, you will be required to come out of your Jupiterian dreamland and accept reality. You will have to accept that misplaced hope also leads to heartbreak. And when hope shatters, you have to be strong enough to work hard and get yourself out of the mess you have got into because of Jupiter. In case you fight this energy, things will get traumatic for you.

So generally when Saturn aspects any other planet in transit or at birth etc, he forces that planet to ground itself. You are made to get practical about the things that the other planet signifies. Material stuff, hard work, karmic obligations, reality, pragmatism are all the typical keywords forced on that other planet.

In some cases, where Saturn is auspicious for the chart, he will help you systematise the significations of the planet he is aspecting. This is possible for the ascendants signs, Taurus, Libra, Capricorn and Aquarius. Saturn started aspecting Rahu and Jupiter since Apr 2023 and some of you must have seen this happen in your life.

But for most of us this complex energy has led to overwork, frustrations, breaking of dreams, unfulfilled ambitions etc. Overall an intense grounding as we are being shown that we are not capable of attaining what we thought we could. Or that others are not what we hoped they were.

In rare charts, if both Saturn and the planet being aspected are capable of auspicious results, then this can grant the capacity to work hard, systematically pursue your realistic goals and an eventual grand and lasting success.
