Rahu Ketu energy dynamics

Rahu Ketu energy dynamics

Last Updated on August 12, 2024 by Tejaswini

You understand how Rahu Ketu energy operates in your life more clearly in your late 40s. It is only after a graha becomes mature, that its role becomes easier to understand and accept. Rahu and Ketu are both Chhaya graha and their impact is more on the subtle body. They are the pull and push of desires and apathy which shape life experiences.

Ketu is the sum of your past experience, ie the deepest learnings that you have got in all your past lives. He is transcendence, the infinite. He is the oldest of all the graha and represents pure Instinct. Ketu is the true Moksh karak as he makes you leave things which obstruct true understanding of the Self. Rahu is the desires which lead to you to experience several things in this current lifetime. You strive to gain these things, experience them, learn from them and then they lose their charm. Thus in your next life these Rahu-things are converted to the Ketu-things. So the cycle continues till your desire to experience everything is complete and then you transcend it all.

Now open your chart. Check the position of Rahu and Ketu. I have written several posts on these, (index page) so by now you should be having a good understanding of how they work in your life.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

If you critically observe the things represented by Rahu you will see the following pattern. These things pull you. You are entranced by their possibilities so you act. You work in this direction and as you work you do get returns. Investing your mental and physical energy in Rahu gives you several things, these can be emotional, physical, material, etc. If he is powerful then you will be wealthy, well-known etc, but on some level all this will feel not give complete satisfaction. So you keep on striving.

To begin with the house and sign which Rahu occupies is generally low on energy/ resources/ options. This is because the energy associated with the Rahu things is limited to only to what you yourself will generate by your own actions in this lifetime. You have to strive for the Rahu things and he too will make you work in this direction. . (eg – if you have Rahu in your 2nd house, you will have not got food to eat at least once in your early life, maybe you forgot your tiffin at home and went to school. And this experience of intense hunger would have made a disproportionate impact on your mind.)

But Rahu also desires to project more than he really has, a show off. He always wishes to be seen to be more than what he really is – bigger than life, entrancing, magnetic, hypnotic. So you get over-active in these Rahu areas of your life. Also being sensible in these areas of life is difficult as you are drawn by Rahu’s superlative promises. (Eg if you have your Rahu in the 11th you will try to project that you had more friends or had more good times with your friends than you really had.)

So with time, as you work for your desires despite continual dissatisfaction, eventually you get exhausted. Chasing after these things will become more than you can handle and at some point of time you just stop believing Rahu’s projections. This will happen in your late 40s but only if your chart has a good level of spiritual potential. If your chart is a basic average chart then you will not be able to understand what Rahu is doing and you will chase after him for a lifetime. In any case, if you are beyond your mid-40s then some self introspection on the Rahu matters of your chart/ life will be useful.

  • Eg if your Rahu is in the 5th house then list out your ‘true loves’, people whom you thought you loved when you were younger. Note how your interactions never really satisfied you. How they initially seemed fascinating, intellectual etc but eventually you saw that these people were very shallow. Or if you have children, note how often these dearly desired children have broken your expectations. Or if mantra siddhi fascinates you, note the underlying realisation that these experiences are a barrier to transcendence. Or if you have students/ disciples think on how teaching/ blessing them has drained you of your own resources.
  • Eg if your Rahu is in the 3rd house then list out your office teammates or siblings or cousins who have consistently disappointed you. See how these Rahu agents have come in your life, used up your resources and vanished into thin air. Or how much you really wanted to have good times with these people but it never really happened. The 3rd house will be limited to what you generate by your active efforts and it will always be less than what you really need to satisfy your desires.

F_SWYRJXQAE0pfvwww.psychologicallyastrology.com

Rahu teaches a somewhat bitter lesson and it takes this age, late 40s to understand this (without going into depression.) And we never understand his lesson in just one life, it takes several lives to accept that Rahu’s real purpose is to disenchant us from the material world. Once you realise this, it is a complete shift in perception. You still work hard in the direction shown by Rahu, there is no option, your chart is designed in this manner. But now there is maturity. Your motivations are different. eg Rahu in 10th – If you strive in your profession, it is now for yourself, for personal self-satisfaction and not for the ‘best manager’ award. This change is what grants you real success in Rahu things. And once you are satisfied internally the external awards and social recognition too will start coming in.

On the other hand with Ketu, it is all effortless. Things seem to flow in and out in a haze. In the Ketu matters you act with instinctive confidence and power but you are unaware of your own actions. Ketu grants you limitless energy, but you are not attracted by the idea of wielding Ketu’s power. You do not know what you are doing in the matters governed by Ketu. However this life time lesson become more obvious in your late 40s. At this age you will realise that your life path activities in the Rahu direction were actually by utilising Ketu’s resources.

  • Eg Ketu in the 5th house – You will be surrounded by students, children, opportunities to bask into the limelight and you interact with all these instinctively. The actions you perform here are genius level and they do not register to your mind. You do not bother about Ketu you just use him instinctively. You have access to unlimited information, energy resources etc. You give this to your children, students, disciples etc and it does not matter to you in the least. eg A Brahmin with an auspicious Ketu in the 5th house can give genuine blessings to so many and this will never drain him.
  • Eg if your Ketu is well placed in your 9th house, try to list out the pilgrimages you have made, the pujas you have been doing in your life, or the level of respect you offer your elders, or the luck that pushes you onwards, you will be surprised how much Ketu power you have unconsciously been using in your life. Being neither attracted nor repelled to the Ketu things has in fact given you so much in these aspects of life. You will not recognise this but the others around you will do so.

Once all this sinks into you are already in your late 40s or early 50s. Now if you have a powerful and auspicious Rahu and Ketu you will suddenly gain immense power, position or influence. This status will generally last till your physical death.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

I do not suggest reading charts of famous/infamous people as there is no guarantee that their birth data is accurate. Fame is a result of powerfully auspicious Rahu Ketu and if they are powerfully inauspicious then they create an infamous personality. So if you observe, there are two types of these people.

  • Those who bloom and fade away within a specific time frame, these are connected to the auspicious power of Rahu Ketu but in specific dasha/transits.
  • And those who are a bit different in their younger age but emerge strongly after their 40s and remain powerful till their physical deaths, this is the result of a strongly  auspicious birth Rahu Ketu.

Try to apply these energy concepts to your own chart and see how Ketu’s limitless power and Rahu’s desire for power work in your life. If you can understand them you will gain more control over yourself and your environment and live a more settled life.

Hello. Right now my Ketu is over Ketu and Rahu is over rahu. Natal chart – ketu in lagna. VIRGO ASCENDENT. 0 DEGREES. Rahu in Pisces in 7th house. O degrees. Rahu Mahadasha. Jupiter and Venus in 8th and Jupiter also transiting 8th. I experienced a very painful and extremely bitter break up and separation that I wasn’t expecting. It was so sudden and out of the blue.
My only refuge now is Divine.
Pain is too much to bear. What more can I expect from this transit ? And any suggestions on how to navigate the most unexpected separation. Will he come back again or should I just accept its permanent

      Hi there
feeling bad is normal but there has to be a limit for how long.
even when someone leaves for pitrulok the time frame allowed is only 13days.

so feel bad, let out the emotions for a few days.
and focus on your Soham, put your mind on this one good habit/sanskar. and with its help let go of the excessive emotion. regain your equilibrium. do not let your emotional well-being be dependent on someone else.
you have to take efforts for your own good. no one else is going to do it for you.

    Hi Tejaswini Ji,

A very powerful post, and so crucial. It was exactly what I was needing really as my interest and aptitude in this Vidya deepens. I was actually ‘all about Rahu’!

Mahadasha, 12th house that draws me a lot – and it is true but this for some reason made me feel Ketu a lot more for what ever reason. I ended up going through your earlier posts and somehow now am thinking how I can start to do charity and give black blankets to the homeless as this seems to address several issues! Wouldn’t Only have taken this seriously since it’s coming from you.

Please help me with this though. I have Ketu in 6th with Mars. In fact this axis has bearing on half the grahas in my chart. It vitally important I believe.

“Try to apply these energy concepts to your own chart and see how Ketu’s limitless power and Rahu’s desire for power work in your life.”

I’m not asking for a reading! Just please tell me HOW I can study for myself and obtain, understand then apply the insights practically to my own life.

Because I am ready and really want to make this radical change so that then I can take the further steps, with that Rahu engine, but of course…

“Ketu will be there with the Devguru Jupiter and the Daityaguru Venus to show you the way.”

    Mam ,

How does the energy of Ketu work when it’s conjunct different lords ?

For example : Ketu conjunct 9th Lord & 2nd Lord – Can it imply that birth family & religion , luck , dharma , work in a certain dissociative manner . Like in these areas of life , a certain jolt of reality destroys the illusion of how the person thought these people to be or the philosophies that the person lived by.
A complete ending of ” what was perceived” and the birth of detachment , or just the way things are ?

And that these aspects of houses too have been well experienced ?

Is there any indication in chart shows that the person should be a healer? Like rahu or ketu in aswini nakshathra? Logic is its gone through the whole round and now they should be doing service to the needed people? And How we intepret if a person have constructive or destructive energy?

I noticed people who dont hav any compassion , or harsh speaking people generally hav constructive energy like if they plant seeds it wil yield results and if they start something it wil be prosperous…but usually seemingly harmless people wreck havoc in their life…just a thought..may its because of sun placement…and missed the comment section a lot…only when something gone from our life we realise its worth…🙏🙏

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there
Construction and destruction go together. it depends on what you think.
eg. if a self realised Guru blesses you saying that ‘may your satva gun also be destroyed’ then what will you think?

I do not want people getting addicted to asking questions.

and as Shri Krishna says – not longing for the things which have disappeared from your life is the truest indication that your consciousness has risen above the trigun.

    Hello :))
Many thanks for your time and efforts publishing this abundance of practical knowledge online! I am so grateful for finding your page a few months ago.

I wonder how people with charts heavy with nodal influence can work with these energies and strengthen involved planets at a younger age, before reaching the maturing age of 48?

In my chart Leo is Lagna, Time Lord Sun exactly with Ketu in 4H with Jupiter ruler of 5th, Moon and Mercury in 5H. Ketu practically Yogkarak as conditions described in your earlier article apply. Nodal movement is direct, birth occurred shortly after total solar eclipse but moon had already switched to next sign.

Spiritual and artistic practice has been my chosen focus since childhood. Despite all efforts, years of meditation and energetic training I still cannot perform the necessary and unavoidable interactions with society as indicated by Rahu and his house etc in full balance.
Perception of auras, astral and otherworldy stuff was open since early age. Astral work, space clearings and resetting spoiled energies of land has also been eating much energy of my first 3 decades of life. It didn’t feel as if this incarnation had much of a choice or agency about how to give away energy, most of it simply went into healing collective issues without personal inclination.
Nothing about society or its obliged normalities motivates me truly. Even though my inner worlds are blessed I’ve been feeling like a resident alien amongst most humans.

Are there any practices for Lagna Lord with Ketu or Ketu Sun Jupiter issues you would kindly recommend or any thoughts on handling such energetic combinations with skill at a younger age you might chose to express?
I’ve worked through about a third of your articles yet with focus on the basics first and read everything on nodal impact in charts in particular.

    Thank you!

if you do not follow sanatan dharma then choose a practice from your native culture /traditions which is focused on the sun and the breath.
becoming aware of the breath helps in so many ways.

…..fantastic to read that there are others with very similar combinations….
for me the best remedy is to learn systematically all the themes that is part of those planets than touches Ketu – with special focus on awareness – this can satisfy the planet, and the work on consciousness can help Ketu-issues as well…..
e g when he is conjunct Lagna lord it is important to become aware of your body and ambient, a systematic study of asana/ body consciousness/ dance could help…
…and the entire blog of Tejaswini gives the needed basics to do so 🙂

    Namaskara Tejaswini ji,

Thank you for your wonderful posts. I have read them again and again and brought changes in my life, starting the journey to self discovery.

I am from Madhava brahmin sect, having grown up with Dvaita philosophy and Sri Madhvacharya’s teachings. I was reading Srimad Bhagavatam the other day.
I noticed that the interpretations given by Gita press translations vastly differ from ISKCON’s translations. I find ISKCON’s translations to be incorrect, as they superimpose their views on written text.

My question is, I am becoming more aware of energy patterns as I do my daily sadhana. I feel the vibrations when I go to any temple older than 600 yrs, for example, or in places where prana pratishtha is done correctly. I feel the energy of the particular moorthi quite strongly, you could call it vibes of the place. I never find any such energy patterns in ISKCON temples, all I feel is emptiness. My feeling of the ‘vibes’ is totally not present in their temples or moorthies, but this is just my experience. How can I accept any of their teachings, interpretations or viewpoint when my basic experience of their sacred temples is a big void? I am asking this as there are a few people in my close circle who are very much devoted to ISKCON, and I can only avoid conflict for a short time before they don’t accept me. I understand it doesn’t matter in the long run, but day-to-day living becomes more difficult each day.

So if the energy patterns in their temples itself do not manifest, does any of their teaching hold any water? I understand Srimad Bhagavatam is the essence of Shri Krishna’s life, but I cannot hold it higher than the basic tenets of established authority of our sacred shastras (Vedas and upanishads). I cannot believe that sacred Gayatri mantra or MahaMrutyunjaya mantra is subservient, or lesser than Hare Krishna mantra as claimed by them. Sri Madhwacharya, Sri Sankaracharya and other eminent gurus have not denigrated our shastras like these people claim. I need guidance in this matter. Am I wrong? If I’m wrong, how do I convince myself my experiences are wrong? I don’t even have a guru to ask help on this matter, others will take offence. If you can clear up, I will be eternally grateful.

Thank you again for your wisdom on various matters in your blog, they are helping me and countless others who are on our path for self discovery.
    Warm regards,
    Sumana

      Hi there

There are so many cults, religions, philosophies which are adharmic. 95% of the humans follow Adharma.

With time and some Purva punya trigger, adharmic people start following Dharma.
They do Karmakand, Upasanadkand Jnyankand and Tantra and finally realise the Atma.

The sequence is Dvaita, Vishishta-advaita and Avaita.
Beyond the Advaita is the Anirvachaniya.

Moortis and temples have to be made as per Shilpashastra. It is a Vidya – both apara and para.
Modern temples and moortis are not made as per shastra so are not inherently powerful.
You can do namaskar as the Eternal is everywhere, but they are not capable of pulling up the energy of the devotees to that extent.
Look at the images of deities made with AI, they are look beautiful but feel lifeless.
      Wrote a post on moortis.

      Books to be followed are
      Topmost – Ved
Then Itihas – Ramayan and Mahabharat
Then Puran – these add to the main history given in the Ramayan and Mahabharat, record side stories, additional events around the main events in the Itihas and other dynasties not mentioned in the Itihas.
If any Puran contradicts the Mahabharat or Itihas or Tantra or the Ved, then it should not be followed to that extent.

Krishna Puran popularly called ‘shrimad bhagvatam’ – contradicts the Mahabharat in several ways. You will have to read both to appreciate the deviations. Do read.
      Just a few deviations –
Shuka Muni is the son of Vyas Muni. Shuka Muni realises the Self at the very start of the Mahabharat. (The description of his self realisation and Videha Mukti are so inspiring! I have held this description to my heart for several years as my main motivation.) Shuka muni dies before Vichitraveerya is born. Vichitraveerya to Pandu to Arjun to Abhimanyu to Parikshit to Janmejaya. So as per history, Shuka muni died at least 150yrs before Parikshit was even born.
      Another one –
Read what Mahabharat describes reg Parikshit’s activities before his death. He does not listen to any puran before he is killed by Takshak.
      Another –
They say that Vyasmuni felt sad coz he had not written much about Shri Krishna so he wrote the Krishna puran. But Vyasmuni has written a full exclusive massive appendix, over 16000 shloks in the Mahabharat, called Harivamsha, detailing his life history. And it is Vyasmuni, Mahakavi himself we are talking about. Do you think that after writing the Mahabharat, the 5th Ved, he would forget what he had written and write contradictory stories in the Krishna puran?

I could write so much more but the point is this. Krishna puran has several inherent contradictions. Read it and come to your own conclusions.

If 95% of humanity does not follow Dharma then those who are reading the Gita for whatever reason should be appreciated. At least they are taking the name of Shri Krishna.
One can only hope that the power of Self, the Anirvachaniya in it will drag them to ItSelf. It may take them a million lives, but there is no problem, time for them is infinite.

If your friends follow ISKCON, or any other life philosophy, it is their life, their choice why should you bother?
      Their choice is their karma.
It takes great courage to look in the eyes of your adored deity and say with 100% conviction that there is no difference between me and you, we are both the same indescribable.
Not everyone has that level of courage and conviction.
Most followers of Dharma prefer to remain as Daasoham.

One concept if you can understand – ‘everything is sweekar, but not everything is grahya’. –
Everything can be received but not everything is to be followed/agreed to.

If you both can continue your friendship without bringing in philosophy then fine.
But if you both want to argue then the interactions will become a burden.
      The Nirnay /decision is yours.
