Spirits and hauntings explained

When someone dies, i.e. leaves the physical body, his soul/Jivatma exists in the Pirtulok/spirit world, till it is time for the next birth. But in case the soul is still deeply attached to things related to that life, environment, relations, deep and especially negative emotions, or even its physical body (if it is buried, and not given in the fire then water properly);  then it becomes difficult for it to progress into its new existence. It cannot ‘sleep’. The first step into the pitrulok, is a period of rest. The soul is extremely tired with the efforts of the life it has lived, and recovers as it ‘sleeps’. During this ‘sleep’, its attractions to its previous life are dissolved as far as possible. After some time it wakes up, gets used to its astral existence, takes stock of its karmic balance and chooses its new place of birth.

Spirits and hauntings explained

But if it is still deeply attached to its previous life’s stuff, highly materialistic, emotionally attached, has deep cravings, addictions, etc, it refuses to enter the pitrulok and remains attached to some physical object in the Martyalok/physical world, a house, a tree, a person anything. It then becomes a ghost/pretatma. This is very inauspicious phase (paap yoni) and a step backwards as the soul tries to return to the environment of its previous life rather than moving onwards. Thus is gets stuck. It is already very tired after its ‘living’ phase, so its higher self tries to get it to move forward into the Pitrulok, but its misplaced desires is a barrier. It is quite confused, oppressed, frustrated, angry and sad.

These ghost souls are very rare but they are. An example, saw this on one of my clients. e.g. assume that someone was addicted to gambling and frequents a specific place where gamblers meet. After the soul left the body, it cannot not shake off its desire to gamble thus gets attached to this gambling place. Now it cannot participate in the gambling, so it watches the other living people and gets even more frustrated. So it then temporarily possess the bodies of the living and gets its thrills. The living person is not aware of this temporary possession, but he does realise that whenever he enters the gambling place now, he suddenly feels more excited and his desire to gamble is heightened, etc this is the effect of the ghost’s temporary possession. So places of low level desires, e.g. gambling, bars, red-light areas etc, have these ghosts mingling among the living.

When someone is possessed, however temporarily, the ghost uses his pran/vital energy. Thus you will see that such people lose weight, fall sick, become listless physically, emotionally unresponsive, skin becomes cold/clammy etc. The person’s electrical body goes into a shock and the burden of the parasite/ghost drains it. This drain is dangerous. I have written about haunted houses earlier, where my body’s interaction with a house at the electromagnetic levels told me that something was wrong. All our interactions are electromagnetic in nature.

This above phenomenon is thankfully quite rare. But living people often say they are being ‘haunted’ or ‘possessed’. There are a few other reasons for this. Most commonly, someone who is afraid, with a weak mind or with a hyper-active imagination, can imagine a ghost in every shadow. This imagination can get quite vivid and he is quite convinced. This is a sort of a self-hypnosis where the person for whatever reason projects ‘ghosts’ around him! The power of thought. To ‘cure’ this faulty thought process, there will have to be a equally vivid counter-idea put to him. Generally educated/rational people do not suffer like this, but this is quite common in backward areas. Now what to do if you think someone is ‘possessed’ or thinks he is possessed. If the person has created an auto-suggestion of being possessed, asking him what he wants, is a useful counter-suggestion. Most of the times it is as simple as alcohol or a cigarette or some food item. It is given with the strong instruction that he stops being possessed. And the person stops the self-hypnosis of his ‘possession’. Ensure that he gets a good diet, head/body massage with ayurvedic oils, plenty of sunlight and if possible a small vacation to refresh his mind. (Cleaning out the house and environment of negative energies also helps immensely.)

As always, small children must be protected from interactions with negative energies, thus they are not taken to places of where there is trauma, or morally wrong things happening, or graveyards/cemeteries, never take them at twilight or in the dark under trees or near water or near ruins etc. Children can see too much and also have limited strength of mind and body thus can be affected quite easily by ghosts draining their pran.

Spirits and hauntings explained

If the person has actually been possessed, (most likely temporarily possessed) by low level ghosts. he too will ask for something small related to the senses which can be given to him with the strict instructions that it will leave now. Generally these are souls of people who had a death-bed wish of eating something, travelling somewhere or meeting someone. Not actively malignant, just dejected and frustrated.

Then there are the benevolent ghosts, aged people from the family who are stuck because of their tremendous love for someone in the family. In such cases they may help by providing guidance in danger etc. It would be ideal if you can show them the way onward and push them on it, by performing a Tarpan/energy ritual for the deceased. Then there are the malevolent ghosts, people who died young, young mothers/expecting women, people addicted to bad habits etc. These have very strong and selfish desires and may want to drag their favourite person/person with similar tastes down with them to the pret yoni/ghost phase. Possession by these can be actually dangerous. Best engage a shaman/tantrik to deal with them.

Writing a bit on how tantriks work. The easiest is to catch a ghost soul, turn it into a slave which will do whatever is being asked. These are always unwilling and always ready to turn against their captor. Most tantriks, as their powers of control fail, come to a bad end as their slaves turn against them.

The second type of tantrik uses his own powers to create a ‘shadow’/chhaya from his own energy which goes away from him and does his work. This is like a robot, no separate consciousness of its own, but if the tantrik dies before he can dissolve his shadow, this shadow can continue existing especially in uninhabited places and seem to be ghost. This ‘ghost’ is something like a bio-particle. In my earlier post on haunted houses, I have written on the bio-particles of deceased persons adhering to stuff in empty houses, which when occupied by living persons again, become reanimated and appear as hauntings. It is easy to remove such residual bio-electricity. In these cases, a ghost soul is not involved.

The rarest things are when the person is possessed by a higher level entity (pishachya, vetal etc). This almost never happens, but then a tantrik/shaman will be needed if you ever come across this.

So the gist is, if you ever feel that you are being haunted or your client is being possessed, 90% of the time it will not be because of a real ghost soul. Of the remaining 10%, also 9% will be the low level spirits whom you can easily deal with either by giving it the small thing it desires and/or family doing the tarpan ritual. Strength physical, mental and emotional is essential if you are to resist these forces and help them move out into the Pitrulok where they now belong.

Goetic spirits and witchcraft

Something off-beat today. A look into the darker side, taboos perhaps. Someone on Facebook was inviting me to discuss ‘witchcraft’ with him, thus this post.

Recently I came across a very interesting book, “Aleister Crowley’s Illustrated Goetica” by Lon Milo DuQuette. I use Thoth Tarot designed by Crowley so was looking forward to reading this book. To my surprise this book described Spirits, “Goetic spirits” and was about how you can call them and use them to do your work. Something like a genie. Each spirit had its own sign/sigil which could be used to reach it, summon it and bind it. And each spirit has its own speciality, the work it could perform. The description and everything reminded me of the spirits used for witchcraft/black-magic in India.

Goetic spirits and witchcraft

There are several forms that Consciousness takes, we humans are just one form among these. I believe humans are the most creative of all these forms. There are so many stotras and mantras where it is mentioned that these give results specifically for humans. Humans have extraordinary powers to Create. Only in the human form we have a Will which we use to create our own Universe.

When you conjure spirits i.e. call them from their dimension to yours, you are allowing them entry into your Universe and this access is very valuable for them. Everyone strives for recognition and rewards even the spirits. I quite liked this book because there were very simple ways to call them. Someone has done quite a bit of work on describing the ritual stuff, defining the work they perform and especially for beginners provides quite a reasonable amount of protection too. And also the rewards they desire are quite simple, like marking out their sigils on a piece of metal and keeping them somewhere safe in your Universe. This grants them existence in your Universe. If someone wants to experiment with ‘witch-craft’ this book will definitely help. But it is my karma to counsel so here it goes.

Witchcraft is quite common. Using conscious energies to do your work is also common. And calling spirits from other dimensions is also very common. Some people and societies however have this idea that spirits and magic is evil, a taboo. It is not. Nothing is good or bad, energy is energy. How you use it matters. if you do not understand something you respond with fear. Then your Intention matters and colors the Action as good/evil. If your Conscience/Antaratma is ok with what you are upto it is all good, as ultimately you answer only to Yourself. If you cheat your own self, well then you have to rebalance the Karma in your future lives.

Back to calling spirits. If your Will is strong enough it can be as simple as focussing on the sigil of the spirit, thinking about it, calling it to answer, summoning it. And quite often the Will is strong. “This is my world and I have invited someone here so I have the power to kick it back to his dimension too”. This confidence is necessary. But again just confidence is not enough, you need to have the strength too. I have seen the best way to increase your strength in these aspects is to use the mantras from the Devi Mahatmya/Durga Saptashati. But then as always be very careful with these energies because they are very huge, terrible and quick-acting. The spirits you call,

  • The spirits who answer your summons/invitation are conscious entities. They have their own agenda. Your books on ritualistic magics can define them endlessly but still there are still some things which will not be clearly mentioned. And each summoning is different. In a one-off chance you might call on more than you anticipate.
  • The spirit you call on is now your ‘business partner’. You provide it energy and permission to remain in your world and it will work for you. So be very clear and conscious about what you are offering into the bargain. Someone I know did this when he was a teenager, got a minor spirit into a mirror for scrying. The bargain was one drop of blood. But then as the part is also the whole, he realised that that tiny drop of blood connected him even more deeply than he had anticipated. So he promptly released the spirit and consciously purged himself of its energies by falling ill.
  • Now the spirit is a resident of the astral worlds and other dimensions so its action will be through the astral and other indescribable energies which will be manifested in your physical Universe. The bargain you make will always have an astral component, you may not even be fully aware of what you contract. eg when you draw its sigil on a piece of metal you will be doing it with your fingers and your energy. Thus tying yourself to it on the astral level, as you access it so can it can access you.
  • Meddling with these energies can have effects beyond this one life. The astral and other dimensions, past parallel and future lives are a sort of continuous flowing ‘now’. So the actions you perform will reflect throughout your entire existence. (I know a chart where the person in his past life, used spirits to wreck havoc in other persons lives. In this life his astral self represented by the Moon and the 12th house is suffering, will resolve after he turns 36yrs but till then Karma is rebalancing.)
  • And finally actively protect yourself, intend protection at all levels at all times. You cannot rest even when you sleep as that is the time you sub-conscious self is active. Your past ‘business partners’ may still access you without your conscious knowledge and steal energy from you.

Astrologically these interactions are in the domain of the 8th house, where you actively use these secret energies to transform yourself. Interacting with these entities changes you for ever, your aura changes, your confidence changes, you change irrevocably. The ‘normal’ people of the society seem more plain and one-dimensional, their views and opinions irrelevant. Thus most active witches and tantriks live a secret life away from the common society. Also the vibrations that your aura will give out create fear as normal people cannot even comprehend of dimensions beyond the 5 senses and here you routinely move and work in them.

It is quite interesting and instructive, but I do not recommend anyone getting into tantra and magics without a real genuine teacher/Guru but yes, for those who can and do it, it can be very liberating. But getting into these things just on the basis of what you read or chat about on facebook, is quite dangerous. So overall ‘Goetic spirits’ was an interesting read and it felt good that the East and West do meet on this shadowy, secret and dangerous side of energy.

Goetic spirits and witchcraft

Of a yogi and a tantrik

These two words have become a fashion statement these days, Every aspirant on a spiritual path calls himself or herself a yogi or a yogini. And a student of the “black magic” calls himself a tantric, because it seems like a cool thing to do! So who is a Yogi and who is a Tantrik? Do you do not have to leave your house or indulge in weird stuff or dress up crazy? No, both these terms in their essence are a way of thinking. Read on.

Our soul carries with it a huge chunk of karmic load which needs to be worked through and balanced out. This is a weight on our soul and prevents us from knowing our real self truly. So we work our way through it slowly but surely in every life we take. The trick is to not create new stuff for us to carry while we are on it.

When we were born all of us decided on how much of this karmic load we are going to deal with in this life. Now there are 2 ways of dealing with this load, either you go through the actual process of repayment or you burn the “I owe you” slips. Eg. If you have hurt a lot of people physically in your past lives, you may have to become a doctor in this life to treat and heal them as patients and balance the energy. But as always, you have a choice, you can do this actually or return their energies by doing deep pujas/ dhyan/ spiritual activities targeted for the greater good. Both these ways are acceptable.

Now a tantrik is the one who does everything, but with awareness, immersing himself in the experience with complete awareness. Seeing everything that can be seen, but all through being very aware of what is the reality of the event, how is the experience affecting him, his mind and his consciousness. And once he has reached the maximum depth of the experience he recognises that he has seen everything that can be shown to him and now it hold no attraction of him. He will never ever be drawn to it again. This is a tremendous intellectual process where intention, awareness, intelligence, analytical ability, and conscience all play a role. Self control is also of the highest degree. The consciousness is so highly aware that it allows the mind to experience but also control the mind so effectively that after the experience is complete it does not allow the mind to again seek that same as a repeat performance. The path of the tantrik is called the left handed path or Vamachara in Sanatan Dharm.

Of a yogi and a tantrik

A yogi follows the right handed path, Dakshinchara. He refuses to even taste of the experiences available, thus avoiding getting caught in the net of temptations. He withdraws from the society, becomes a Sanyasi. He does intense puja, yagnyas, mantra sadhana, ultimately Dhyan. He prefers to burn out the karmic “I owe you’s” with the intense fire of his sadhana/tapa. This path of the yogi is also very difficult path. It is a complete  test of intention, intelligence, Shraddha/faith, awareness and firmness. The yogi has to control his mind and body so intensely that he does not feel even the slightest attracted to the desires of the world. You can see such Yogis often bind themselves with very severe rules. They follow the basic rules of a Sanyasi, but do more, not allow anyone to touch them, cover themselves with the Vibhutis of their yagnyas, wear minimal clothes, matted hair, be very particular about the food they eat, speak very less or remain silent always etc. These rules represent their cut off from the realm of the Mahamaya, the world of desires.

For me, I think I am trying the tantrik way! I got married, had a child and have my professional work, take care of my home and do my work, counsel my clients. Immerse myself in being a wife, daughter, mother, professional everything, experiencing the joy and the hurts completely. But I try, in all this to remain aware of my real purpose that is to experience my true self. These experiences are just stepping stones on that path.

One of my clients was insistent on taking Sanyas. He is from a very rich family and the family was not willing to let him go like this as the life of a Sanyasi is very difficult. When you leave the society like this, it is possible that you may fall in the hands of rouges who might kill you for your organs or fake gurus who may tap you for your spiritual energy. And looking at the young man’s horoscope I wanted to help him but also keep him safe. My client’s brother was married and had a son himself so the next generation had also arrived. My client was thus free. So his parents agreed with my counsel. They added one new storey to their house for him, and built him a completely new home with a dedicated puja room. He now lives there separately and does his sadhana, last I heard he was doing Dhyan for over 4 hours daily. He is on his way to being a Yogi.

A small astrology tidbit. If you have your ascendent in Cancer/ Karka, you have the potential to be great in spirituality or waste your life energies in worldly activities. Ascendent in Karka is one of the most challenging positions as worldly satisfaction is almost non-existent for them. But if by chance, these persons can bring their minds in control of their consciousness, they can achieve greatness in the spiritual realm.

My client, the young man, after going through his struggles and tapa will eventually be a Guru, a Satguru. When I saw his chart for the first time, I felt the pressure of his disciples both born and as yet unborn intensely waiting for him. And I too look forward to seeing him in that form soon. Reading horoscopes sometimes brings very deep joy.

Mirror mirror, use it for Scrying

Reflections are energies. Most commonly we see our reflections in the mirror, in water, or in someone’s eyes.

Mirror mirror, use it for Scrying

You can use mirrors or the still surface of water for divination.

Easier is the water surface. For this you need to prepare your scrying bowl. Buy an earthen bowl like in this picture below. Paint the inner surface evenly black with oil paint. Let it dry out completely. Then on a full-moon, Purnima night, take clean water and keep it in a copper kumbh/pot for an hour or so (If you really do not have this kumbh then you can skip this step, but most Indian houses will have this copper pot). Then fill your scrying bowl with water, also pour this copper pot water too in it. Keep it in a place where it will be exposed to the moon and the night sky. Put your hands around it, close your eyes, focus on the bowl and intend strongly that it will be used as a tool for energy work and scrying. Leave it overnight under the moon and the sky. In the morning you can pour off the water under a tree or somewhere. Store the the bowl after covering it with a cloth.

Then 15days later on the next no moon night, Amavasya repeat this process so that the bowl absorbs the energies of the dark night too. The next morning onwards you can use your scrying bowl. Whenever you want to scry, carefully take your bowl out, remove the covering, fill it with clean water (with copper kumbh/pot water too if you can), and in a room which has very low lighting or at night, scry. Place your both hands around the outside of the bowl, do not shake it. Think of the person or whatever question that you want to know about, relax your mind, keep just that one question in your mind. You will see the images on the water. When you are done you should dispose the water under a tree and cover the bowl again and store it. You can recharge it on Amayasya and Pournima nights again as above if you want to.

Mirror mirror, use it for Scrying

People whose ketu and moon are conjunct or opposite or any of them in 12th, 8th, 6th, houses, or the Ascendent sign or lord conjunct or opposite ketu are rather good at divination. Have a go at it!

And though looking directly into someones eyes is considered to be a honest and confident thing to do it may also be dangerous. Like if you are doing your spiritual practice regularly, you will have definitely gained positive energies. If you stare too long into the eyes of someone on lower energy levels than you, you may end up hypnotising him or sharing a part of your energy with him without even realising it.

So with my family members I still look into their eyes, but with others I have trained myself to look at the mouth of the person whom I am talking to rather than look into his eyes. And if looking into the eyes is unavoidable I try to break eye contact every few seconds rather than stare continuously.

There are so many stories where “godmen” sort of hypnotize women into leaving everything and going to live with them. This is a perfect example of unwilling hypnosis. However you women can protect yourself by wearing a diamond nose pin in your right nostril. It looks really pretty winking away and distracting whoever is looking into your eyes trying to get their hooks into you.

Someone I knew was quite into experimenting when he was younger, once he requested a simple spirit to help him and kept it trapped in a mirror. He would get it to do small-small energy works, but in return it would demand a tiny drop of his blood. It was a short phase he had, playing mirrors and spirits. Later he had enough and broke the mirror to release the spirit. But even though brief, this energy exchange had to be purged from his system which he promptly did by immediately falling ill.

There are unscrupulous persons, “tantriks”, practitioners of “black magic” who on purpose trap spirits in mirrors or even better keep them in gemstones. Everything pretty has a pretty black side too!

Remember anything you do in terms of energy is an exchange. If you try to become aware of something, remember that thing is also becoming aware of you!

So if you are on the road to spirituality, try to see the Ultimate in your ajnya chakra, so that the Ultimate also looks back at you, in a flash of silver/gold lightening!

Like your magic black anyone?

This post is just for information. Please do not practice such stuff either by yourself or visit practitioners who take money for doing these things for you or do it at your own risk.

So here we go. Suppose you owe someone money. How do you get out of this debt? You could work hard, earn the money and repay. This would be nice, you have managed to get a job, learned to save, and repaid. And guy would be willing to help you in the future too. But then you decide to go the “black magic” way, get a goon to break the legs of the guy you owe money too and force him to write off the loan. So you got free of the loan, but that guy will never help you again, curse you instead and the goon whom you hired now has a permanent tab on you. What route you choose to pay off your debt depends majorly on your past life experiences and thus your moral compass.

In using black magic, the “goon” is a force of negative energy.

  1. Charging a lemon with negative intentions, and giving your victim a lemon soda of that lemon to drink. Kneading flour with negative intentions and giving the bread/chapati to the victim
  2. Making such negatively charged food and under the pretext of offering “prasadam” giving it to the victim. This is a very easy means of attack as we Indians are gullible and willing to eat “prasadams” without thinking twice.
  3. And then it can go to as far as the practitioner catching himself a ghost/pretatma and using it to wreak havoc in your victims life. And how do they get hold of a pretatma? Its actually quite easy. Women who died giving birth or pregnant, and buried, not cremated after that are the easiest victims. Such pretatmas are under severe trauma at the moment of death with a large store of wishes/regrets and can be easily trapped with a few mantras and kept imprisoned in mirrors or something and then forced to be a “goon”. This vulnerable pretatma is also a victim of the highest degree. Not allowed to move on in its path for a new birth, but forced to inflict torment on other humans. These can be further transferred to newer masters and by the time they get free (if they ever do) they are most probably insane.
  4. But there are higher level negative entities, pishachyas and such like who actually enjoy being a “goon” and inflicting negativity on the victims. These are willing accomplices of their masters activities and often leech out large amounts of energy from the victims for themselves.

This is the darker side of the energy game. And I am using this word “victim” on purpose as no one deserves such attacks of negative energies on their lives.

But the reason I penned this post was that so many of us are under such subtle malicious attacks of negative energies that we need to be aware. How do you detect if you are such a victim?

  1. For those who can see auras there will be a very thin layer of black color overlying the entire aura, or black/grey patches may be seen.
  2. For those who know how to use pendulums, (or check out my post on pendulums) the pendulum will swing in agitation when brought in the aura field of the victim.
  3. You can use a egg, and roll it against the persons neck, behind the knees and in the crook of the elbow for a few minutes. Crack it open after 30 mins, if negative energies exist the egg will be spoilt
  4. And most commonly there will be a sensation of hair standing on end, feeling of a shadow around, nightmares and the whole stuff.

If you feel that you are being a victim you can use your intentionspeacock featherschi ballssea salt,or lemons. But if you feel that this is not simple ill-wishing but more targeted attack then you will have to go to a professional to get rid of the negativity.

Do realise that as you can benefit by working with energies, you can also be harmed by others using negative energies on you. Take measures to protect yourself always. Start a regular spiritual practice.
