Analysing a single placement

The Question is most important.

There are just these 9 planets/graha, the 12 houses and the 12 signs, these in all their infinite permutations and combinations will answer anything and everything about life, death and beyond. So always ask what you really want to know. If you have clear questions you will get precise answers. Sometimes I get clients who just want to know ‘what the horoscope says’, there is no real answer to this sort of question.Analysing a single placementFor example, here is just this one placement – Libra ascendant, Venus in 5th house/Aquarius with Ketu. (Just with this, not considering their house owners and not considering Rahu) What all can you deduce from this one line? See if you can get some of these following answers! With this placement there is a potential for,

  • a highly balanced personality, disciplined, intellectual and fair nature, lucky!
  • Inferiority complex, shy, uncertain in public
  • oval face, fair or light colored hair, shorter than average stature
  • Backache always
  • problems in normal vision
  • can see ‘extra’ things with the eyes, psychic abilities, can be a tantric with significant occult abilities
  • significant access to past life experiences, will have relationships with people known from the past lives, will live in places/situations with karmic connections to the past lives and know it!
  • has no sense of personal self, detached from the personality and the environment.
  • first half of the life will go in a haze, second half (after 48yrs) will be more aware of himself
  • has no personal ‘self-love’, as cannot relate to himself in any way whatsoever, unaware of self, ‘hazed-out’.
  • Odd sense of dress and makeup. At least one thing will be out of place in the dressing style. e.g. maybe mismatched socks always.
  • life is characterised by ‘change’, there is something changing continuously, rate of change is very high
  • can engage in several marriages or affairs, will indifferent to relationships, these will be karmic in nature
  • few real friends, but will be known as a public figure by several
  • education /knowledge /wisdom will be quite impressive but the person is not bothered about his educational qualifications. Will not boast about this. Will have knowledge of the occult.
  • will have gains from various sources, several routes of wealth.
  • is capable of making connections with large numbers of people belonging to like-minded groups
  • Can get into spirituality and practice and can progress quite a lot. If this happens will worship the Devi, the feminine personified Divinity.
  • Marriage to someone significantly older or to someone who is away from home a lot
  • problems in child-birth if female chart. Even if it is a male chart, his wife will suffer during pregnancy and childbirth, surgery or something will occur.
  • Child will also have psychic abilities.
  • Will have few children and will be attached to the child. Child too will be attached to him.

This was briefly, a cursory look at one placement and you have now so much potential information about the person. All these things will happen at some point of the life. But when? And ‘how much’? You will also need to evaluate the intensity of the events. E.g will the person just wear spectacles for his life time or will he be affected by an undiagnosable medical problem to the eyes? Without this targeted reading this all will be too much and perhaps irrelevant.

  1. So the next step would be to look up the Dasha. With the Vimshottari Dasha there will be one peculiarity. Ketu Mahadasha of 7yrs is sequentially followed by Venus Mahadasha of 20yrs. So a combined seamless 27yrs of Ketu-Venus dominated period. A significant chunk of life where these results will be expressed. If the person is in this 27yrs period these above observations will be accentuated.
  2. To fine tune the timing and intensity of the readings look up the transits of Ketu and Venus. How their in-transit position is influencing their original position in the birth chart.

Now if you have the complete birth chart/ physical aspects, the birth moon chart/ psychological context and the navamsha chart D-9/ complete potential, the entire life story is open before you. So you need a definite question!

There is no good or bad placement of the planets/ houses/ signs, they just exist. In the above example, the person would have several problems but then there are so many things which are really good too. The chart is a tool, each planet/ house/ sign is a bundle of energy resonating with you. These do not control you nor do they influence you, They Are You. Unless you understand this you cannot make use of the horoscope.

The other methods of divination, like cards or runes are question oriented. The client will ask a question and you will give a definite answer. I have had clients who didn’t have questions, just a vague sense of unease. For this too, cards/ runes have a solution, there is a way you can access their subconscious mind. But it is only in astrology that you will get ‘just tell me about my chart’ type of clients. To get them to open up, you can look at the current in-transit chart and their birth chart and tell them one interesting thing about their relationship, wealth, profession or health (most clients are quite similar in this respect). And do encourage the client to ask. Help him frame a question which you can then answer. Only then will the session be fruitful for both of you.

For your self-analysis too, ask yourself questions and look for patterns in your chart which indicate the answer. Analysis requires time, a sense of intuition and a habit of reading patterns. So practice.

Retrograde planets, Saturn

Saturn is the planet most likely to be retrograde in a chart. Approx 26% of the charts you get will have Saturn in his apparent backward motion.

Retrograde planets are teachers with a different agenda. They teach you by rewinding events in your conscious life. You review and re-analyse, again and yet again. The conscious event is never directly in sharp focus, your feelings, instincts and indirect impressions add more dimensions to the experience. You may not be able to clearly express yourself in the matters ruled by the retrograde planets. A jumble of feelings, you may not be sure about what you ‘feel’ and what you should be ‘doing’. On these matters your conscious and sub-conscious are in conflict.

If you have more than one planet retrograde in your chart you will need to find out the relative strengths of each to know their relative influence on you. As a starting point you can consider the planet which has advanced most into its sign, i.e. with the highest degrees, to give more results.Retrograde planets, Saturn.jpegSaturn teaches you to maintain the society and helps you maintain your public/visible role in it. Saturn is the owner of the 10th and 11th house of the natural zodiac. Thus he is the natural agent of your work, profession, your birth father, your luck, gains from every aspect of your life, like-minded groups etc. (The father in the spiritual sense, the Guru, is the 9th house). Most importantly on the spiritual context, Saturn gives you the work-plan which helps rebalance your karma systematically. He keeps a tally of how much work has been done and how much more is required to balance your this life’s karma target. The strength to persevere. All of us hope and are optimistic, but the next step towards success is to work steadily without faltering, this is Saturn. On the emotional front, Saturn is often dour, forbidding, causing restrictions, constrictions and not-happiness.

On the inner levels, Saturn’s job is to reduce ‘self-ego’, the inflated sense of personal self.

A retrograde Saturn will often start with a complicated relationship with the father or people in authority who discipline you. This begins in the childhood itself so has implications throughout life. We are required to live our life with self-discipline and responsibility. Often it is the father who teaches the child the value of discipline and corrects his behaviour if required. But a child with retrograde Saturn may subconsciously resent his father and all that he teaches. He might perceive his father to be distant, not-loving, emotionally unavailable or absent.

In life, resources are limited and you need to plan and be systematic about using them. As you grow, the ability to organise life and its resources becomes even more vital. You live in a society and its norms and legal/social behaviour is important. A retrograde Saturn is sometimes a balancing act. You have to think of positive goals which support Saturn’s natural role and also his role in your personal chart. Saturn signifies society in all ways, so retrograde or not, he will find ways to make you work for the society. So over time, especially after Saturn matures at the age of 36yrs, you might find your own ways of contributing. You tend to choose an external apparent freedom which is strictly regulated by your internal self-discipline. A retrograde Saturn allows you to use your talents differently, you may work in a profession considered ‘odd’ by the society. If the chart supports, you may be an eccentric professor who thinks differently, a brilliant artist who creates unusual works, or even an astrologer! All forms of jobs and professions are Saturn.Retrograde planets, SaturnSaturn’s energies are turned inwards, so the conscience is always hyper-alert. This internal voice reviews every step you take and every word you speak, always, non-stop, to an extent that you might feel an underlying fear of everything you do. ‘Are you doing things the way you are you are supposed to do?’, The internal self is hyper-strict, always finding faults. This over time can lead to low self-esteem, lack of self-confidence and an inability for self-love. The solution here is to direct the energies. Try to develop your own frame of reference, Saturn will allow this. You can develop your own internal sense of self-discipline so that you are more comfortable with what you do. Try to intuitively feel what is really important to you than what you were taught is important in life. You are required to be more subjective than objective. Look for patterns not separate events.

Retrograde Saturn will work with and through the planets he is associated /conjunct /aspected by /aspecting /house owner etc with. So e.g. if he is with a direct Mercury, try to find Saturn’s subjective influence on the Mercury-linked actions you do. You might think on what society needs, a thought, an intellectual reform, you might initiate a ‘process’ for the welfare of the society, speaking out, communicating, writing! Several social reformers had a retrograde Saturn who powered their thoughts and actions. These individuals were highly convinced of the correctness of their thoughts and were considered radical by the society of that time. Retrograde Saturn does provide the internal energy to work hard, the person knows he is right and unaware of the odds, perseveres and brings about fundamental changes.

If you want to come to terms with the power of retrograde planets, you have to go through a highly introspective process. Self-reflection is key. This however happens over a life-time. As you contemplate, your powers of intuition also increase, this will lead to increased trust in your own feelings. You will be able you love yourself, ‘self-love’. Only then will the subjective, seemingly irrational influences on your psyche be gradually accepted and integrated. However odd these subconscious feelings may seem, they are a pattern which will gradually synthesise and make sense. Retrograde Saturn is a great power-house, if you can use it in the sub-conscious levels, it will manifest in your physical reality too. Try to be comfortable with these inner dialogues and self-doubts, as they will make sense eventually.

Retrograde planets, Saturn

Virgo – Pisces the most sensitive axis, Part 1

Pisces, the 12th sign of the Zodiac, belongs Jupiter, the agent of expansion. Pisces represents the feet of the Kalapurush (The human archetype linked with Space – Time). It is the foundation on which the entire system rests. This sign represents movement in every which way. You walk with your feet! If you have your birth Moon in Pisces, or Ascendant in Pisces, or a significant number of planets placed in Pisces in your birth chart, this is what you would be on the internal subconscious level.pisces.jpgYou are deeply spiritual and like places and things of religious/spiritual significance. You are drawn to everything that ‘flows’ on all levels the physical, astral and spiritual. e.g. water, time, space, emotions, experiences etc. You are attracted to the other states, the other dimensions, the dream states , the spirit worlds/Pitru-lok, etc and can link with them easily. You can act as a bridge and help these others. You are restless, very deep and mysterious. You are interested in history, mythology and reflection. You like spending time with yourself, ‘feeling’. You create ‘imaginary’ worlds to ‘escape’ from physical reality. And you might be surprised to know that these ‘imaginary’ worlds are actually a reflection of some other reality of which you are subconsciously aware. You always need that other-dimensional touch to be happy. A life purely on the physical levels does not appeal to you.

You are generally quite fair and aware of your internal conscience, you will not be involved in moral wrongs. You might come across as eternally confused and dreamy, but that is just on the surface. You have unfathomable depths, unknown to yourself in the ‘wake state’. You ‘feel’ your way through situations and are one of the best decision-makers of the zodiac after Capricorn. You think and analyse very differently from other signs, you are more intuitive. And you know that you are right, so can be quite stubborn at times. You are quite responsible and are often burdened with several responsibilities. You may be a home-maker or an executive, but you feel satisfied when you provide for others. You are quite capable of sacrificing yourself, your comforts and pleasures so that others, people, ideas, traditions etc can benefit. You are very loving and large-hearted but at the same time you often suffer for no fault of yours. When in trouble, you refuse for advice and help from others. You do not like to put others to trouble because of you. You internally welcome the change which comes out of the hardship/trauma and are quite adaptable.

Internally the Pisces knows that it has to end, only then will its new existence begin. Thus you often carry around yourself a sense of undefined sorrow. This is the last sign of the zodiac so naturally has to provide the foundation for the next cycle, which will begin as it ends. It is a responsible position and  in a way it is the summary of the entire zodiac belt. It is completion in every way. It is two fishes in perfect harmony, in the fathomless ocean, moving, balanced, in opposite directions, indicating a balance which is ever evolving.piscesThe biggest assets that a Pisces has are the agents represented by Cancer and Scorpio. The 9th from and 5th from axis works here too. The astral body, the subconscious mind, the movement of pran in your energy body etc add power to the Pisces (Also the Sukshma and the Karan sharir, represented by the 4 higher layers of your complex energy body.). These 3 signs are the creative intelligence and thus the subsequent foundation of each other in a cycle. One intelligently builds the support for the other and likewise in a cyclic manner. A Pisces can effortlessly plumb the depths, survive catastrophic changes of identity and recover useful information/experiences which it again uses as a foundation to delve ever deeper. Its dreaminess is only external, internally this sign is ever in motion, highly focussed, searching for internal spiritual treasures.

You can be quite successful in material life too, may gain as a result of your activities, power and position in social life. But material gains do not satisfy and often cause problems for you. But the thing is that you don’t mind working for others without any material reward in return! You know that material gains, which the world sees as real, are ultimately not real. Your concept of gain is the sense of completion when karma has been balanced. And you are willing to work tirelessly for it, in all possible dimensions, in all possible ways.

Challenges for Pisces are presented by the agents of Taurus, Libra, Sagittarius and Aquarius. Here are some of the things which have the potential to make you really miserable. First is the desire to hoard material treasures for your own self. Gaining for your own self will make you miserable. Then for whatever reason, ‘limiting yourself’. If you limit yourself and your actions to the small groups of spouse, partnerships, legal bindings, family, neighbourhood, philosophy, peer group, humanity etc you will be miserable. You are kind-hearted and you have a karmic load to re-balance which crosses all these defined narrow limits. You also have untold sources of energy which you can tap into, if need be. So follow your internal self and set your thoughts and feelings free, you will be happier. This does not mean that you just break all rules of material life and behave irresponsibly. Instead, recognise that your existence is much more than what is visible on the physical levels. Doing some spiritual practice will help immensely by diverting all this where it belongs, in the spiritual realm.

But, understand that these these signs and their agents ultimately help you in your spiritual progress. Now Libra demands that you work, serve and give selflessly of yourself to rebalance, it demands perfection here. Taurus wants you use all the resources at your disposal for good of the society at large, that you work and benefit everyone, in the broadest sense. Sagittarius will force you to change your perceptions and philosophies and will transform your sense of understanding, knowledge and wisdom. Aquarius will make you lose your limited sense of self and grant you the widest possible understanding of your most expansive Self. These lessons can be harsh, hard, fast, insistent and even terrifying. But these processes will be on the internal subconscious levels and on the material levels will be accompanied with pain and distress. If you accept these processes with a sense of learning it will be easier to cope on the material realm too.

The perfect partner, the mirror for Pisces is Virgo ruled by Mercury. This is a karmic partnership where each completes the other’s missing bits, thus both achieve completion.

The gist of Pisces is “Yadno yadnena kalpetaam” from the Rudra Chamakam. “May evolution be perfected by evolution”. Completion is not stagnant, it is ever changing and ever moving, evolving yet perhaps still remains the same. A Paradox!

pisces.jpg(This and the next posts will be on the Virgo-Pisces axis, which I have mentioned in my pervious post, Effectiveness of the Signs to be the most sensitive. I hope they will be of some use to the kind soul who had put the question in the contact form.)

Of Evil eyes and Children

All of us have auras which are extensions of our personalities. Auras do a lot of things including protecting us. Aura is the biological energy of the body. Similarly our thoughts also have energy. All such energies generated by a conscious living being is something like a ‘bio-energy’.

When someone looks at a sweet-looking child with wishful eyes it is said to be an ‘evil eye’ on the child, and the child might actually suffer. That person may be childless so might be longing for a child herself, or may just be watching the child very intently, or may be just casually watching with a penetrating gaze, no ill will for the child as such. Her subconscious mind thinks, ‘I wish I had such a lovely child’, ‘Such a sweet child, I wish he were my child’, etc. These subtle thoughts are not deliberate or malignant, they are just subconscious ‘longing’.

What is ‘evil eye’ really? It is basically a minor version of a psychic attack. Now a child is small with very little defence mechanisms in his aura and the energy link created by the adult’s gaze is so strong that it is a shock for his energy body. A large chunk of energy gets pulled out of his aura and he feels the energy shock followed by a physical illness.evil eyeStaring with intense longing attracts the person who is being looked at, irrespective of age. If your husband is going away for a few days and you bid him bye with penetrating wishful eyes, he is also going to feel uncomfortable for a while as he travels.

In India, small children are intentionally protected from the ‘evil eye’. The mother puts a dot of her kajal/kohl behind the child’s left ear, or left side of the forehead. She thus creates an energy-link supporting her child. Tying black threads or amulets around the child’s neck is also a common way of protection. Children are kept presentable, not heavily dressed up so that random people stare. Small children are not taken out on days when there is thunder and lightening in the sky, on such days the atmosphere is charged with electricity and the body can lose some of its bio-energy. Babies, until the ritual of Annaprashan (eating the first food other than milk), are cuddled only by their parents and close relatives. Children less than 1yr of age are generally not taken out in public gatherings etc where random strangers can see or touch them. Most adults here do not kiss or cuddle babies from other families as a matter of tradition.

Here we also do not let our young children sleep alone. Sleep is not ‘shut-down’, it a state of existence where there exist different energies and dangers. The child always sleeps next to his mother so that while sleeping her bio-energy supports him. She is the only one who gives to her child, even subconsciously she will only give, never take. In some modern Indian houses, I have observed the parents send the child to sleep with the grandparents rather than keeping him with them at night. This causes a very different problem for the child, it is strange and rather difficult to understand but this happens. The older person has a very strong bioenergy field and subconsciously drains the vitality of the child. The grandparents love the child dearly, but the subconscious reality while sleeping is different. Children have very weak defences and a thinner bio-energy shield so are very vulnerable, so might even fall ill. It is something like a tree, an older tree has greater capacity to draw nourishment compared to a young sapling. And if you have observed, small saplings do not grow in the shade of older trees.

Where I live now, the local tradition is that the husband is generally 10yr or so older than the wife. I have attended a few local weddings where the rosy cheeked young women looking so very pretty and within a year of the marriage they age, often with some illness. Conversely, the husbands seem to glow with health after the marriage. The reason is the same. After marriage when these women engage in physical activity and also sleep next to their much older husbands, their bio-vitality is being drawn off by them. So marry someone around your own age, too much of an age gap is not advisable. In some cultures there is a system where a man marries several women younger to him. If you are observant you might see that the man is glowing with health while his wives seem weak and ill. The bio-energy reason is the same. evil eyeBack to children. We do not allow children near places of negative energy. Places like hospitals, sites of tragedy, ancient wars, or violence, or a house where someone has died, cemeteries etc. The imprint of these negative events in these places is enough to cause a bio-shock to the energy of the child. A small child is neither completely aware nor unaware of things. He still carries with him the impressions of his immediate past life as these have not yet been wiped off and neither has he gained sufficient new experiences of this life. He is also willing to learn in every way. He does not have the will to resist impressions from people and environments yet. So his personality will be moulded as per the environment he lives in and the people he interacts with. So protect your small children.

Another problem is that parents think that their baby is unable to understand things, so often get physical with each other with the small child sleeping near them. But the child has fully functional ‘extra-senses’, and his aura shield is also weak and thin. So the energy of the physical act is pulled deeply into the subconscious of the child which causes great damage and will affect his behaviour as he gets older.

When two people meet, who will influence the other? It is like a fight at the bio-energy level. The one who has the greater bio-energy wins. We are electromagnetic beings and we all interact at levels much deeper than what can be sensed by our limited 5 senses. We all love our children, and it is our responsibility to protect them while they are young and vulnerable to ‘evil eye’.

The energy of thought

If you have been reading my previous posts, I have always emphasised your Intention, your Will and your Thoughts. Whatever you keep thinking of you will become. Whatever you want to know about you will Experience. If you focus on a book you will learn it, if you concentrate on yourself, you will become Yourself. (But where is the real you!)think1There are several ancient and modern age Gurus, humans being publicised and pushed into the society. These marketeers (sorry, but no other way to describe them), aggressively require their disciples to keep photos/paintings of ‘Gurus’ (dead/alive) and pray to these photos. This is very damaging for real spiritual growth. If you have faith in some human Guru (I do!) keep his photograph as a reminder of his teachings and the philosophy you learnt from him. It is important to be grateful, gratitude is the one real feeling which starts you on your spiritual path. But your spiritual practice is your Dhyan. It is only when you concentrate at your third eye and breathe in a specific pattern with an associated mantra, will your mind and thoughts still. So that you can glimpse the Truth that you really are.

Thoughts have energy. And if you have learnt seeing auras and learnt to see sounds, now try seeing the energy of your thoughts. The object you think of has energy, Look and see if this energy is pleasing to you. If it is desirable continue thinking about it, if not then change your thoughts.

In every mantra/stotra in Sanskrit, the last line is something like this “—-. स्तोत्रं यः पठेच्छिवसंनिधौशिवलोकमवाप्नोति शिवेन सह मोदते” , ‘whoever reads this —- stotra with the intention of being with the Pure One, will ultimately reside in the Pure Truth and find Bliss in the Truth’. This is what is needed, you have to remind yourselves that every action you do, may this action lead you to the Ultimate experience of the Pure Truth Itself.

So what are you thinking of?

The seeds of karma are within your thoughts. Your thoughts mirror your sub-conscious expectations. And your expectations are the energies which require rebalancing. But while rebalancing energies, you often go through traumatic experiences. Would you rather avoid trauma or at least reduce its intensity? This is the basis of astrological remedies. You basically think yourself out of the trauma.

If you think deeply, You are the Ultimate compressed into this human body with karmic baggage in your hands. Experiencing the vast You and keeping aside this baggage would be a relief wouldn’t it?

What do you want to know about?

You cannot let your thoughts lead you. You have to consciously direct them. Wanting to learn more about essential spiritual practices, Dhyan, Kundalini, Devi, Parmeshwar is all an excellent indication that you want to know about Yourself. Want to know yourself! with all the intensity you can muster. Your thoughts invite energies. Control the energies that you are opening yourself to. Control your thoughts. There are several types of energies. Satvik energies pull you towards Your Light. Rajasic energies towards the objects of this manifested Universe. And tamasic energies are dull, out-of-sync, dangerous, odd and damage your energy vibrational states. Try to increase your Satvik energies.

think3.jpgSuch a long introduction, you might say! But I cannot stop stressing on the direction of thoughts. You manifest with your thoughts. Your thoughts are your power of creation, use them very carefully, these are double edged swords!

I have written about spirits in previous posts, Goetic spirits, and haunted houses. After I wrote about the haunted houses, a few negative beings decided to pay my house a visit. I must have felt it deeply just writing the post, so subconsciously opened my own house to them. However they were ‘house-guests’ for a very brief period as all it took was to impress on them very clearly that it was my house and they were not welcome! But till I could clear out the house all of us suffered for a couple of days. These were tamasic energies, dissonant.

I never advise communications with departed loved ones or any form of spirits. Never. For normal people it is not needed and often creates more problems than solutions. Thinking about them opens doorways, just recently my Dad was thinking of my Mom (he suddenly missed her!), and she was in the house. When one spirit enters, the door is left open for the others too. As she was not too interested in staying, she went as soon as Dad apologised to her for thinking about her. But then for the rest of the spirit-trash who had followed her, Dad had to throw them out himself, wasting his energy.

There are conscious energies everywhere. The beings from parallel dimensions are always around us. We call them Yaksha, Rakshasa, Vetal, Pishachya, Gandharva, Kinnar, Siddha, Dakini, Shakini, Naag etc. If you cannot see them or interact with them normally, there is a reason for it. Stay away from them.

Such malignant energies are most easily accessible in places where traumatic events have taken place in the past. I once visited Andamans when I was much younger and not very aware of things. I went to the ‘light and sound show’ which was played in the Central Jail there. If you are aware of Indian history, several of our freedom fighters were sentenced to jail here, tortured and killed by the Britishers. Now this place is of historical importance and open to tourists. And densely populated by negative energy and trapped spirits. I couldn’t sleep for the one week I stayed in Andamans. Dreams, visions, voices and seeing their astral selves was just too much. I feel sorry for them, their experiences have turned them mad. ‘Earthbound’ spirits of the departed are always around cemeteries where they bury bodies. These will be more than willing to interact and need very little encouragement to create problems in other’s lives. The only way out for them is if their descendants offer them tarpan at Brahmakapal in Badrinath, Uttarakhand.

There is a misconception that the spirits are benign, they are not. They are able to disguise themselves as per the target’s wishes. A child sees them as his favourite cartoon character. A man may see them as a young pretty woman. But they are not of this dimension, they are discordant energies, they look bad, they feel slimy, they are out of place in this world of ours. It is not that their vibrational states are ‘low or high’, it is just that they are dissonant. When they touch you or your aura you feel cold, shiver and your hair stand up. It puts your astral body in a state of shock. Some people often use them for manifesting small things, often to cause distress to other people. It is bad karma.

There is a class of beings like Gandharva, Kinnar, Nag, etc. They are not overtly malignant and depending on their mood can be of help. These are found in high places, clean mountains like Himalaya, near rivers of high energy like the Ganga. They ask for something in return, like sweets, milk, gold/silver etc, there is always a bargain and exchange of energy. If you know how to find them they are accessible. think2.jpgMy experience with these beings has been mostly clearing up after them or sending them off. Sometimes the less problematic beings have offered bargains. But I will not actively call them for working with me. I, and even you, can do more with personal energy than they can ever offer. Even thinking about them and wishing that they come and work for you consumes significant energy. Then their bargains are always not what they seem to be. A  better use of creative energy would be for personal spiritual progress.

Manifesting things is using your own powers of creation. You have unlimited power, you just need to think it into being.

This post was in response to this comment I received in the Contact form, “Lovely blog! I discovered via the astrology group. Can you write something about angels and other high/low vibrational entities and earthbound souls?” I hope this post has been of some help.

To navigate the Astral Worlds

I see so many people on Facebook and ‘spiritual’ websites claiming that they visit the astral realms or that they will teach you how to access the astral worlds. If they were genuinely visiting the astral and other dimensions they would never do this!raspberries and blueberriesSo what is the “astral” realm and why do we go there? Sleep/Nidra in Sanskrit, is a very complicated phenomenon. When you sleep quite a few things happen, for one the flow of pran/vital energy of the body changes its movement. When you are awake (Jagrit awastha) the pran energy is first brought at the ajnya chakra and distributed around the body, it is used by the organs of action and the organs of senses. But when you are asleep, this pran is consumed at the third eye chakra itself in a rather mysterious way, and used in repairing and rejuvenating the body.

One part of this pran, during sleep, is used to access the dream state (Swapna awastha). This dream state is where you partly access your own personal sub-conscious. You might get very vivid dreams, remember them, or you may not, but your Self stays within your energy bodies. You do not travel astrally or visit the other dimensions or access the collective-sub-conscious state. There is no need to do so as your own sub-conscious is competent enough to deal with matters related to your limited needs. Most of those who get excited about ‘astral travel’ are just experiencing vivid dreams and guidance from their own sub-conscious, a very normal and regular activity.

But then for some of you there is a need, a requirement to travel out of your energy bodies. Then you will be travelling in the ‘astral’ or the other dimensions. This is now quite serious. The 12thhouse is the most important for this analysis. You will see combinations like the following in the chart.

  1. Combination which grant the necessary dissociation of the bodies so that the astral body can separate from the physical. Eg ascendant sign /lord with Ketu.
  2. Combinations which allows a link to the astral planes, so that you will find the routes. Also the planes need to become stable enough for you to enter them. And the astral body also to have the necessary ‘fluidity’ to slip out of the other energy bodies. Eg Moon in the 8thor 12thhouses or in the Scorpio or Pisces signs.
  3. Combinations to ensure that you have the wisdom to travel the astral responsibly and remain safe there. E.g Jupiter and/or Venus, conjunct/aspecting the moon and/or the ascendant lord or the 12th.
  4. You do not enter the astral for entertainment, you travel there to work off your karmas and to serve. E.g. Saturn or the 6thhouse, connected to the Ascendant Lord/sign or the moon

pexels-photo-221070.jpegTravelling to the astral is a burden. You sacrifice the rest and rejuvenation of your sleep state and go to work in the other dimensions. You do not sleep when your astral self is out. When your astral self separates from the rest of the body layers, the entire body gets disturbed. You wake up with a pressure band around your head and somehow the center of your head ‘pains’. This ‘headache’ can go on for days. It is not a migraine. Your astral had separated while you slept and in the morning when you wake up it had not integrated back properly. If this goes on for a prolonged period of time, this imbalance manifests as a disease which has no physical reason and no physical solution.

I had a client who was continuously travelling out of her body for years. Not sleeping for years too. It was her karma to go and work every night. Seeing her photos from before this astral stuff started happening and her present self was disturbing. It was like she had aged 15yrs in a span of 3-4 yrs. This client had developed spots and black patches in her vision, the doctors could not see anything wrong with her. ‘Seeing’ the energies of the astral was destroying her eyes in the physical world.

Now a few points for those who are required by Karma to travel astrally. The astral is generally not a friendly place so this is what you should be aware of.

  • The astral movements always destroy the physical body. You will wake up tired and drained, with a strange ‘headache’, nausea and dizziness to some extent. When you ‘see’ your energy bodies after you get back it will be like they are overlapping but not completely integrated. You should always consciously fix the bodies back into their places using the full form of the Gayatri mantra. I had written about it in this post here. Any damage to the astral body can take upto 6 months to manifest in your physical body. So better safe than sorry, use the Gayatri and fix them back intheir places immediately after every travel.
  • You will be working in the astral, so you will have your enemies there too. So now when you are unaware of the astral (when awake), you will be attacked. These entities are often called Vetal or Pishachya in Sanskrit. I had this experience once, a Vetal had from his own dimension inserted small ‘injections’ so cleverly into my aura that it took a couple of days of queasiness for my brother to figure out what was happening. So be alert, make your protection amulets, or clean yourself everyday with peacock feathers.
  • Any interaction with any entity/spirit in the astral leads to exchange of energy. A client was a tantrik in his several past lives. He had deep love for Shivshankar and thus in a life he changed and started his Self-discovery. His enemies still in that path of dark energies are now high level Pishachyas. They still visit him every night and challenge him to fight. He would fight them thus lose his energy to them. His aura was like cold ice. My aura touched his when we met and he instantly drained my energies, I got so dizzy and nauseated that had to drink a couple of lemon sodas (sea salt and lemon) to rebalance. So while moving in the other realms focus on what you have come for and shield yourself always. Do not interact needlessly with the denizens there.
  • Then your work in the astral will bring you in contact with entities you owe energy to. As long as they take what they are entitled to it is ok. But more often they will insert tiny ‘hooks’ into your aura and use you continuously like a energy battery. This will cause tiny chronic health problems for you. So again shield yourself always.
  • And then as you are now aware of these secret energies, you will become the ‘energy protector’ of your family. If anyone curses or ill-wishes any of your family members living in your house, that negative energy will attack you first. So be aware.

red raspberry in clear drinking glassNow with this note of caution, there are several good things also in the astral. But you will be called to get them only if it is your Karma. If you are to receive positive energy from the astral it will be given to you in a gentler way. E.g. one client often sees her ‘higher self’, ‘healing’ her current self when asleep. Your astral body looks exactly like you, height/weight everything. But your ‘higher self’ looks different, it may look like you, but more likely it will look like the person you were when you had reached your highest level of spiritual development. My client sees hers as an aged, thin but very brilliant old sanyasi man.

(There is someting called sleep paralysis which is misconstrued as astral travel. Have written about it in this post here. )

You are now a resident of the physical manifested world, not the astral. When your body dies you will return to the astral, not now. While residing in the physical body, if you work too long in the astral, your physical body will deteriorate and you will return to the astral earlier. You should have been in Nidra/sleeping, using your pran energy to rejuvenate your physical bodies, but you were using up the pran in travelling and working there. So you have to make extra efforts to restore your physical health and maintain your manifested form. There is no other way, you have to do Dhyan. You can do reiki healing and other ways of manipulating energies but the best and most deep way is Dhyan. Reiki etc is healing energy from the universe. Dhyan is you yourself actively working with your own pran. It is a difference like heaven and earth!

Always remember that the astral and other dimensions are just like foreign places. They are unknown and more likely dangerous. You do not travel even upto the grocer’s shop unless you have something to buy. So why would you be travelling into the other realms unless you have a clear and pressing reason? It takes significant energy! If you have work, go there and do it, but always take adequate precautions. And steer clear of the online sites where someone offers to teach you ‘astral projection’ in 300dollar online class. It is not a ‘projection’, your astral body, you yourself, leave and go elsewhere. ‘You’ come back before you wake up. This is a burden and is not for everyone.

Kama Trikon of the horoscope

The 12 houses of the horoscope are divided into the Dharma Trikon, houses 1, 5 and 9. The Arth Trikon 2, 6 and 10. The Kama Trikon 3, 7 and 11 and the Moksh Trikon 4, 8 and 12.

The root of this Universe is ‘Desire’, Kama. This word can mean the superficial sexual desire which also leads to creation of new life and can also mean the deep Desire of the Ultimate Consciousness to play a Game/Leela called Creation. This Sanskrit word ‘Kama’, is longing, love, will, purpose, deliberation, intention, desire, passion, wish, agreeableness, enjoyment etc, so many layers and layers of meanings depending on the intention of its use. The Nasadiya Sukta of the Rig Ved, (129th Sukta of the 10th Mandala) describes the creation of the universe as the desire of the ‘Unfathomable Intelligence’.

However coming back to the horoscope, the Kama trikon, Desire Triangle, is the houses, 3rd, 7th and 11th. The houses of Desire and everything to do with it. Now lets see how these three houses would mean ‘kama’. What makes up your Universe? At its foundation is the interactions between humans. Our Universe is not us alone, when we interact with others like us, we create and populate our Universe. Thus Kama is this, the desire to be connected to others in one way or the other. From this desire for interconnections the following expectations arise,

  • being financially well-off
  • having a personal source of income through personal job/trade/profession
  • being with siblings, cousins and enjoying a feeling of brotherhood
  • being with a spouse and sexual satisfaction
  • income sources through individual partnerships and network of communities.

The Third House

The 3rd house from the ascendant is the house of extended family, neighbourhood and conversations. Our interactions in these limited intimate groups and our first step in the bargains of life is the domain of the 3rd. Our entire life is a series of bargains which lead to cooperation. I tell my son, ‘If you finish your dinner, I will tell you a story tonight’. This is a very agreeable bargain for both of us! Then as we get older we progress to making agreements with our friends, cousins and neighbours. If we make mistakes here they are forgiven and a second chance given to make-up and learn. The style of interaction in this House is one to relatively many, here we learn how to interact with the outer world as per our society’s customs and traditions.

Bhratru-Bhava, the house of brothers is ruled by Mercury. Mercury is the communicator, he is the adolescent who loves to be with his siblings and peer group. He is also the one who intelligently analyses data and classifies and learns from this. Here is where we learn how to deliberate, communicate, trade, cooperate and be bold. This house is also called the Parakrama, the house of boldness.

As we grow up the lessons from this house become the foundations of our self-earned wealth. And we desire our wealth because it makes our lives more comfortable. This house is the 2nd from the 2nd, the second is the house of family treasures. So the 3rd house uses the all resources you have available in the form of family good-will, treasures and reserves and uses them in trade and cooperation. You gain profits from the 3rd. You get an experience in trade, commerce and communication and you also learn how to be bold and courageous going about it. In this house you just don’t desire the money, you also look forward to the regular meeting of associates, the close friends and brothers. Desire is both human company and profit!

The 3rd from the ascendant tells you about how your interactions from these groups is going to be on the external social levels. eg If you have Saturn placed here, naturally it will be restricted, if Jupiter it will be extensive. However to know how these interactions are going to affect you emotionally you will have to check out the 3rd from the birth moon sign. Moon is the significator of the mind and in my opinion is sometimes more important. Eg If you have Jupiter in 3rd from ascendant but Ketu/South node at 3rd from moon sign in the chart, you will have extensive interactions with your large extended family but you will always feel detached/apathetic/dissociated from them.

The Seventh House

This house is quite easy to analyse, partnerships in every which way. These partnerships are ruled by Venus, the master negotiator. Venus also replays the same ‘human company and profit’ motif! Here however the human company is more limited to one-on-one and has to be legal. The 7th is also one of the four major foundations of the chart (the other 3 being the 1st, 4th and 10th).

The 7th is the house of all the relationships and interactions that are ruled by law of the land. Thus the legal marriage, matters of the law, court cases, business partnerships, interactions with government agencies, contracts in trade and all human interactions rising from these are the domain of the 7th. This house also governs the relationships with first legal husband/wife, children from second legal wife, maternal grandmother, paternal grandfather etc. Here as the house of marriage, our sub-conscious expects a balanced partnership based on our personal cultural legal environments. This is the house of agreements, contracts, negotiations, fairness and balance. This house desires human interaction through partnerships.

As the 7th has been hyped as the house of sexual pleasure so just a small note. Not all adults have sexual partners but all of us have one significant partnership. This can even be with a deity or an ideology. The 7th is the mirror of the self. It shows you the opposite that attracts you, fills your blanks. Seen in this context the 7th is an exchange of energy one-one between two who desire this as a karmic agreement.

The 7th counted from the ascendant, the planets located here, the position of the 7th house owner and the aspects of other planets, will determine how all these interactions play out on the external, conscious or social level. For determining the sub-conscious impact of the interactions of the 7th you will have to consider the 7th house from the birth moon sign. The 7th from the moon will determine the level of emotional satisfaction and comfort that is received in these extremely personal one-to-one interactions. eg. If you have Saturn placed here you will never feel fulfilment as Saturn constricts and restricts, on the other hand if you have Venus in the 7th house counted from your moon sign, you will always feel the harmony and beauty in all the human interactions governed by the 7th house.

The 11th House

This is the house of gain, profits and luck ruled by Saturn! Luck and Saturn, surprised? Saturn is the strictest karmic teacher of them all but he is the fairest. He will give you exactly how much you have worked for. This house of Saturn gives you all that you have worked for throughout the 1st to 10th houses of the horoscope so far. Thus the 11th is the melting pot of all the human interactions, cooperations, luck and gains in your horoscope. In the 11th you desire the entire network of energy interactions that you have invested in.

Here the interactions are not just limited to your extended family, or legal partnerships! This is like a tradesmen’s fair or a marketplace. You interact with diverse individuals, foreigners, risk-takers, travellers and everyone who shares your interests. Like-minded individuals together make up the 11th. So there is a gradual evolution, from customs-society regulated, to partnerships-legally regulated to common-interests which are now intellectually regulated. This is the real house of fulfilled desire as after the experience of the 3rd and the 7th you are now free to interact with and gain from associates you have chosen purely for their inclinations which match your own. You are not limited by traditions or what is legally approved. This is your house of karmic interactions with every energy in the Universe you have an affinity for!

The 11th from the moon should also be considered, as it stands for all you long for. If your moon is in the 6th house in Pisces, you will always yearn for emotional security, the mother, the homeland, familiar customs, the residence and mental comforts (keyword of the 11th from 6th i.e. the 4th house). Also you will want the father, the profession, the reputation, recognition in the society, and to reach the top of the organisation by working hard for it (keyword of the 11th sign from Pisces i.e. Capricorn). Whether you get it or not depends on the aspects and planets situated here.

This post is about the kama, the desires and the attractions which is in the domain of the mind. The Moon is the mind, and the most important placement in the horoscope is the sign/house of the birth moon as here is where you emotionally perceive what is happenings around you. You could be a king and sad if your ascendant is powerful and moon weak, or you could be a beggar but happy if your ascendant is weak but your moon is strong! So when you analyse the desires of your life as expressed in these 3 houses, 3rd, 7th and 11th do look at the emotional components too. Longings denied and frustrated can have very deep impacts on your psyche. Analyse yourself, try to come to terms with what is allotted to you so that you can find ways to make it better.
