Marak, rulers of the 2nd and 7th

Marak/Marakesh is an important concept in Jyotish. Marak is the planet/s which decides the timing of exit from the physical body, death. The situation of death is defined by the 8th house and the conditions active at the moment of death are seen from the power of the Moksh trikon, but timing is from the Marak. The planetary lord of the 2nd house and the 7th house of the ascendant is the Marak planet for the chart.

Then there are natural marak planets i.e. Saturn, Mars and Rahu. These three can on their own cause physical death without much assistance from other planets but its quite rare. They need to be connected in some way to the 2nd or 7th houses or their lords. Physical death is an extremely significant phenomenon, it is not determined by a single placement but by a synergy of the entire chart’s energies as a whole. The Mahadasha or antardasha ruled by the Marak, or a particularly important transit of the Marak planets can serve as the final break point.optix2.jpgSo why the rulers of 2nd and 7th houses? These are auspicious houses, so why should they be used to judge the time of death. Death is not considered auspicious, or is it?

House 2 – You all know quite of astrological stuff by now, so what all does the 2nd house stand for? Think a bit and read on.

  • 2nd house is the storehouse. You, in your life gain experiences of several sorts. Also you accumulate several types of stuff. These are your assets, the treasures of your personality and your environment (defined by the 1st house). These are ‘collected’ in the 2nd house. You finish collecting all that you have decided on, your treasuries are full. Now what? You leave! The body cannot take in anything anymore, you have completed your targets. Saturation.
  • Now the natural ruler of the 2nd is Venus. He is also rules relationships at every level.  Relationship with the act of death naturally ruled by Mars of Scorpio 8th. The 2nd house here is one-half of the yoke, the other being the 8th house (it is counted seventh from 2nd). When you finish accumulating your assets in the 2nd house, the 8th house will trigger the fast terrifying transformations of your assets, take these stores and use them in a balanced manner, converting your physical identity to that of the astral. Emptying them and making them ready for the next rebirth.

House 7 – After reading this about the 2nd house, I am sure you can work out why 7th house ruler can also indicate the time to exit the physical body.

  • The 7th house rules bargains, partnerships, balance and equatable sharing. Throughout your life you are actively involved in several kinds of partnerships. Every relationship can be viewed through the lens of a ‘partnership’, where both partners gain fairly. So what happens when you reach your goals on partnerships and gains from them?
  • We take birth to re-balance karma, no other reason. Balance is the reason for this life in this body. We decide on how much of this karma-balance-target at the moment of birth. This moment of birth is the 1st house, and the 7th is the other part of the yoke.
  • Once you achieve the goals, it is time to set new targets, i.e. leave the old physical body and take on a new one.
  • The stuff you have in the 2nd house also represents the secret gains from the 7th house (it is the eighth when counted from the 7th). It represents how you have used the energy of the 7th to change the status of your karmic-balance.
  • The natural ruler here is also Venus, as he rules the 7th house of the zodiac, Libra.
  • Venus is the mokshkarak, when yoked to the vitality of Mars he can even grant you Moksh if the time is right. When all your karma is balanced by the assets you have gained in your this incarnation. This is one of the reasons Moksh is considered to be the primary function of Venus and not any other planet.

wallup.netIf in the horoscope the Moon sign is more powerful than the Ascendant then check out the 2nd and 7th house lords counted from this Moon sign, they can also act as Maraks.

Then there are those periods in life where life becomes unbearable. There are catastrophic changes and traumas which makes one want to end it all. But these are not periods where death will occur. These hard times are related to the following planets, their Mahadasha /antardasha or significant transits. The power of the planet to give positive or negative results should always be examined before arriving at a conclusion. And then as always look for patterns not single placements.

  • Lord of the 12th house from the Moon or Ascendant or Saturn – Loss of emotional support and comfort, extreme loneliness and grief. Separation from love and loved ones. A deep desire to move into the astral dimensions permanently.  This causes a desire to leave the physical body frame. The spirit wants to dissolve and separate.
  • Lord of the 8th house from the Moon or Ascendant or Saturn – Again this planet cannot confer physical death but traumatic catastrophic changes which are quite death-like. Transformations of personality in every way, positive and negative. Sudden wealth, legacies, accidents, surgery, magic, tantric stuff, divorce etc, but never actual physical death.

The length of a life is not important the intensity is. Mars rules intensity and Saturn rules endurance. Mars is always willing to change, transform and he has the capacity to generate enough resources to facilitate his fast and furious movements. Saturn is slow, he moves slowly generating his resources and the processes which he rules over linger on. Mars, the ruler of life and death is also the natural partner of Venus, the ‘natural’ ruler of 2nd and 7th, sort of the ‘natural’ marakesh. And Venus is Saturn’s best friend too.

If the chart shows the influence of Mars over this process of physical death, it will be very fast. If Saturn has links to physical death then it will be slow and often via a lingering illness. If you have Mars and Saturn both involved with your 8th house then be prepared for the long haul, a long life has been granted to you. If benefics aspect they will give a graceful and dignified transition.

Sometimes you get a case where the person is enduring a prolonged illness. You look at the chart and see that though the Maraks periods are on, the life span allotted to the chart is not yet complete. Such a typical time frame gives ‘sickness’, this sickness may manifest as extreme sadness (astral body suffers) or actual sickness (physical body suffers). The prana-link between the jivatma/soul and the body/robot is thinned down. The soul has not yet decided to leave. In such a case, prayers and healing (on spiritual, physical, emotional and mental levels) can convince the soul to stay on and continue.

Back to Venus, the morning star! Venus always fascinates me. He is beautiful, balanced, he knows the value of stuff, he grants the deepest knowledge, he decides the time when your body has exhausted itself. He tells you it is time to get a new life! He tests you, he does not grant his wisdom so easily. He defines relationships, the most important one being your relationship with your own self. He is perfection!

Exalted and debilitated, Rahu, Ketu and Saturn

About exalted/ucch and debilitated/neech planets again. I had written about Sun, Moon and Mars in my post here. Here let us talk about Saturn, Rahu/North Node and Ketu/South node. Exalted is when a planet feels at home and its energy perfectly matches the energy of the environment/sign. And conversely, when the energy of the planet is perfectly mis-matched with the energy of the rashi environment it is ‘debilitated’.

Astrology is just matching energies. Start by learning the basic keywords and see if you can you can understand the energies of the 12 houses/signs and the 9 planetary forces. If you want you can read on the combinations and yogas/doshas later but first learn these basics. Astrology is quite simple actually.

pexels-photo-175658.jpeg

Saturn, is exalted in Libra and debilitated in Aries.

Saturn is the King of Karma! He subsumes his personality for the greater good of the society. He works anonymous among the masses and does not care about acknowledgment. He works tirelessly and endures so that everyone reaps what they have sowed. He is into redressing old hurts, balancing pending Karma and restores fairness and discipline. His work is his fulfilment. Saturn needs structure, discipline, maturity, hierarchy and austerity. He serves and in his service, he Rules.

In Libra/Tula the airy, intellectual sign of his friend Venus/Shukra, he gets maximum opportunity to carry on his work. Venus happily hosts his friend Shani and honors him as the agent of social Justice. And Shani supported by the intellect and inherent fairness of Libra, does his work with aesthetics and beauty. Karma is beautifully balanced! Saturn in Libra becomes great in public related legal issues and is exceptionally materially successful. He addresses old karmas by his legal/balanced service to a large section of the society. His spiritual activity will also be regular and he will learn about constraints and restraints on his personality, which then he will be able to work through. The only fear he faces here is the fear of illegality and unbalance, and this fear is addressed in the environment of the sign itself.

In impulsive Aries however, the rigid, slow-to-move Shani finds himself at a loss. Though Mars is neutral to him, he views the aggressive youthful Mars as an enemy. In Aries/Mesha, Shani, creates fears and resistance from the physical body and the environment both. He constricts innovation, instinct and competition. He demands that in the ‘Sign of the Champions’, rules, regulations and social equality be followed. He refuses to provide energies for explorations and new ventures. The body frame wants to be visible, win and shine, but Saturn insists on anonymity and drudgery.  Saturn tries to perform his obligations but fails unless other planets placements help him. Aries’s energies are invasive and contrary to Saturn’s true nature of Social Justice.dance balley

Rahu, is exalted in Taurus and debilitated in Scorpio

Rahu is the ambitious one, always over-reaching and falling. Yet he never surrenders. He respects no boundaries and is never satisfied. He is an expert in camouflage and can pretend to be anyone or anything as long as thinks he can gain. He has the courage and daring to attempt, often over-extends.

Rahu is at his acquisitive best in Taurus/Vrushabh. The earthy energies of this sign allow him to indulge in his cravings for lineage, treasures, resources, hoards, food/drink, song and dance. The solidity of the treasure house fascinates his Serpent/Naag mind. He allows himself sensual pleasures and indulgence here. Here in Taurus he can break rules under a superficial garb of legality and earn even more wealth for himself. He can shine in the banking sector. He has gained a good family back-up for himself, and he leverages his assets to shine in the social area too. Thus Rahu’s every ambition is allowed expression in this house of Venus and he unfailingly takes advantage of it.

In Scorpio, Rahu suffers in a curious way. This watery sign is of secret thrills. The owner Mars lets Rahu use his energies, but to enter the mind and the shadows. Here Rahu becomes a successful tantric, energy-worker, an explorer, archaeologist, someone who works alone, away from the society. He delves into the past and the dark with ambitions and ideas of self-gain. He is then a knower-of-secrets, sometimes applauded in the society but generally feared. He cannot claim his social privileges and his assets of secret knowledge cannot be displayed. The society does not understand his ambitions and is wary of him. Rahu is denied social mobility here, which chafes.dance-cancan.jpg

Ketu, is exalted in Scorpio and debilitated in Taurus

Ketu is Apathetic. He does not care, one way or the other. He offers detachment and dissociation from the manifested. He is unwanted and does not want. Directionless, desireless and headless, he is the rootless wanderer. He is alone, ethereal and other-worldly.

Now this ‘Cut-off Ketu’ in the house of treasures is completely out of place. In the very physical Taurus he, the nebulous one, is not bothered with assets of the family, its money, wealth, resources, history etc, but conversely he is supposed to look after them. How can he? He has no head remember! He is not interested in sensual pleasures, partying, spending quality time with the family/friends and food/drink or song/dance. Utterly detached from social hierarchies and position of the family in the society. He has no permanent value and thus get no validation from the society. Ketu does not block the pleasures houses of Taurus, just that he does not attach to them. He might appreciate these luxuries but is not acquisitive, is rather detached. Venus’s sign Taurus fails to charm Ketu.

In Scorpio however Ketu feels better at home. Secret transformations are ok with him, place any ‘head’ on him, change his personality, it is all the same to him. He enters the terrifying forces of magic, occult, secrets, emergencies, death and rebirth with that same detachment of an observer. He can become a good doctor, surgeon, tantric, etc, it’s a pull from the past lives, but the thrill of exploration does not exist now. Been there done that! This non-attachment can actually lead to great spiritual development and then Moksh!

When analysing Rahu/Ketu placements, emphasis should be given on the house/sign owner, the planets/conjunct and aspecting both. These are nodes of great power and their power is directed and modified heavily by these other forces.

This was how exalted and debilitated Saturn, Ketu and Rahu behave. If you understand their basic natures its quite easy to analyse. Astrology is all about matching patterns and analysing them. The chart is like a palimpsest, it will reveal its secrets one layer at a time.

The Energies of Fear

I prescribe a very easy remedy for managing the energies of Saturn, lighting a sesame oil lamp on Saturdays, this even a normal average person can afford. But one client was scared of keeping the sesame oil in his house because it was ‘Shani’s item’. Apparently so scary! (I cook my food in sesame oil, it is the healthiest oil possible for the body, apart from coconut oil and ghee.)

japanese-cherry-trees-flowers-spring-japanese-flowering-cherry-54630.jpeg

So why are you scared of the horoscope, the planets and their energies? The horoscope is not outside you, it is You! Why be scared of your own self? When you light a lamp as a remedy to Saturn you are actually balancing that part of your own energy which is represented by Saturn. When you know that Saturn controls your bones, understand that the energy of your body-frame is called Shani. There are no superstitions in astrology. The energy of your body’s structure, its endurance and its eventual ageing is given a name ‘Shani’. Shani is an aspect of your own self. You cannot function without Shani or the other planetary forces or the 12 signs/rashi.

You have to understand that the horoscope defines your own energies, your own strengths and your own weaknesses. You can work on your own self to make things better for you. Jyotish, is the real name of ‘astrology’, it is the science of ‘Illumination’. You have to use it to illuminate your own real Self! It is one of the six Ved-ang (the linked parts of the Ved, the tools to use the information from the Ved). Its origin is not from the limited human intelligence but from the Universe itself. The seers of ancient times ‘saw’ this science in their meditations. We Indians know that the real source of Jyotish is Shiva Himself. This science is one of the innumerable ways to attain Moksh! It is here to help you not scare you. Use it!roses-bouquet-congratulations-arrangement-68570.jpegThe present breed of Jyotish practitioners loves keeping their clients in a fear psychosis. And on the other hand there are actually very few genuine seekers of the truth. The Ved-ang of Jyotish is rarely being used to See your own Self, but used to locate your next boyfriend. But then each to his own, Sanatan dharm has left everything at your Conscience/ Antaratma.

So let us try to use Jyotish the way it is supposed to be used and learn more about ourselves.

Each one of us knows Fear, we are all afraid of something or the other. Some of us are afraid of the dark, some of being alone, some of us have been scared of bullies and some of the bogey under the bed. Some have developed methods to manage this fear while some are still struggling with these crippling emotions. But why were we afraid of the bully in that playground? We were scared of what he ‘might do to us’. We knew we had not done anything wrong, but still this bully would unlawfully punish us, for what we did not know. When we do not know the truth or we are uncertain, we react with fear.pexels-photo-1579413.jpegThis fear has its origin in the horoscope. Understand more about it through the following.

  1. Saturn – All Fear is Shani. The fear of constriction, restriction, loss of identity, including the fear of your own past karma coming up for resolution.
  2. The 6th house from Saturn – the subtle fears that we keep hidden inside us and the agencies who haunt us in our deepest self.
  3. The 6th house from the Ascendant sign – The house of enemies, disease, debts, servitude, slavery and associated fears.
  4. The 6th house from the birth Moon sign – the enemies of the emotions and those who disrupt the stability and support system of the mind and perceptions.

So Saturn is the main agent of fear. It is quite logical if you think about it. Always remember you and me, we are all the Ultimate Intelligence ourselves. The souls are all born from the Parmeshwar to play this game of Creation. When your soul was born it lost its Omnipotence and was restricted and constricted in this frame of the body. The Ultimate used the energies of Saturn to bind parts of its consciousness, which then became you and me. If our original nature is Unbounded, then the spiritual binding in the form of Shani naturally chafes. Of course in the physical manifested realm, Saturn makes you work systematically in a disciplined way to balance your own karma. The fairest, strictest no-nonsense boss!

The second agent in the associations of fear is the 6th house. The natural ruler of the 6th house is Mercury (6th sign of the zodiac is Virgo). Mercury’s role in inflicting trauma is not appreciated, your regular astrologer will gloss over the 6th house. But if let loose, this planet can cause psychiatric problems, depressions or take someone upto suicide! In my opinion the 6th is the worst house of the horoscope. The 8th house may be seen as the house of traumatic forceful transformations, but its energies can also be used to raise the vitality of the pranic body, raise kundalini, achieve moksh. Similarly the 12th house is the loss of the manifested physical visible things but increase of the astral and sub-conscious awareness. Its energies can also be used to ultimately reach Moksh. But the 6th house has no redeeming features. You have to suffer through your negative processes or help those going through the same negativities. It is the ultimate house of negativity. Only up-side is that it helps you balance your karmas in a rather painful manner. E.g. Here you will either be a patient, or a doctor who treats the patient, but both have to live in the painful environment of the hospital.pexels-photo-589697.jpegNow that you know of ‘Fear’ from the chart, analyse these following to find out your response to such forces who seek to punish you. How do you win over this fear.

  1. The Ascendant – The vitality and strength of the physical body. The power of the birth and birth circumstances. Knowing where you stand in the society and the Universe and the sense of Self.
    • True Understanding of the self granted by the Ascendant sign.
  2. The Ascendant Lord – this planet and its position in the horoscope tells you in which environment you are most comfortable in. Which situation is most conducive for you to use your energy.
    • Knowing the purpose of life granted by the Ascendant Lord.
  3. Moon sign at birth – the confidence that you have in own emotions, in the resource of the astral experiences, and the comfort and stability of knowing your mind.
    • Experience of everything granted by the Moon.
  4. Sun sign at birth – This is the divine intelligence, genius, confidence and creativity. It is the Light which illuminates your Self and helps you reach the ultimate Knowledge.
    • Knowledge of everything granted by the Sun

Thus if you think through your horoscope you can leave fear behind. Jyotish is always empowering, use it! When you have experienced your lives through awareness and the light of your internal Sun shines bright, you know who you really are. Then there no fear, no pain, no worry, just the confidence of Knowledge and Love.

Saturn gives you, your luck and money!

Saturn is the most feared of all the grahas, with a dark forbidding and brooding image. In fact, Shani himself is the agent of fear, we are deeply scared of all the things he is connected to in our horoscopes. And it is a very specific kind of fear, it is payback coupled with responsibility and service! Our own actions from some past life are back demanding balancing. If you can identify these areas influenced by Saturn, you are one step ahead in removing your karmic fears. eg, if your Saturn is in the 12th house, you are likely to be rather uncomfortable with receiving guidance from the subconscious, ancestral spirits, your sleep will be affected etc. But if in some way you are able to affirm and convince yourself that there is nothing frightening about all these things and you trust your Saturn, you will be better able to access what is yours from this 12th house.

adult affection baby casualI have written a post on his true nature, a strict school-teacher in this post. And another post on how Saturn takes down your illusions related to each of the 12 houses one by one systematically, over his transit time of 30years. Do read them for a better insight. He grants maturity and also opportunities to work your way through your karmic backlog and balance your karmic account. And he rewards your efforts and gifts you your due, luck and money and a chance to make your name in the society. As the natural ruler of the 10th sign Capricorn and the 11th sign Aquarius, Saturn makes your work for your successes and these achievements are permanent. Whatever we see and perceive, Saturn puts his ‘legal lens’ on it, Is it as per the Law?, It is as per the Right?, and finally, is It as per the Conscience?.

Now you may wonder Mars is the ‘First Born’, Sun is also the ‘Center stage’, both give power and prestige, so whats so special about Saturn’s gifts?

So how does Saturn compare with Mars? Mars is that fiery energy which is, more often than not, unregulated over-kill! Mars is the ultimate competitor, the warrior and always desires to be first. He is the expression of the vitality of the Self-ego, the energies of the ego in motion. He has huge energy stores for any fight, but lacks the maturity and patience to work and wait for the results. Even if he wins he cannot sit down and consolidate his victories, he will be off on another conquest. He does not have the skill to administer to his victories. He will win a piece of land or a nation but then will be at a loss as to what to do with it next! This is not a long term stable success, it is the Thrill of Conquest!

man wearing armor and walking in snowy fieldSaturnine energies and the Solar fire are an interesting comparison too. Saturn is the son of the Sun. The Sun is all about entitlement, he wants it because he feels that he has the right to it. He is the King because he is! He has not worked for it and never will. The Sun dazzles his subjects with his radiance and magnificence. He has a large ego, sense of self importance and is self-righteous. Surya is the self ego and voluntary expression of the will power in action. He is uncomfortable with ideas of equality, service and fairness, and will never mingle with or think of the ‘commoner’. His placement in the chart indicates personal self-authority and self-determination. He is defined by only himself. Even if he works for someone, his attitude will be like he has done the other a favour by working for him. He works only for his self-promotion. If he ever gives it will be an attitude of a king distributing largesse among his subjects. He is, in all ways, the Radiant Ruler!

Saturn and Capricorn

Now, Saturn is obligatory or karmic action. He as the natural lord of the 10th Capricorn thus he is social prestige, class structure, responsibilities of the leader, governance, contribution to the society, recognition by the public and the rule maker. He is also the highly professional and career driven man labouring under a heavy-work load. He is the driven, determined common man who has worked hard to reach the top of the social structure by being patient, persevering and consolidating his position and power. He may not get much of an income from public service. He derives his position from the masses he serves, he has no other entitlement to his throne. He may be born into a family already recognised for its social service thus get a step-up. Saturn works in the 10th and the Mars the 1st  (4th from 10th), enjoys his self-ego, position in society etc, the intangible assets of the personality.

And Saturn being the lord of constraints and restrictions, will give out only that much resources as can be effectively used to the last drop. Only then will he release more resources. He is respected because of the quality of his work and his focus on giving back to the society. This is a very responsible position and is affected by presence of benefic and malefic influences of other planets. The exact opposite house to the 10th is the 4th, residences and comforts and in the dasha periods when the 10th is active, the family-time suffers. This is his House of Labour.

But the gift from Saturn is this, you will feel that inner satisfaction of having worked not for personal glory but for sustaining and improving the society structure. These are intangible assets. And the honor that the society bestows on you for being the efficient administrator will be genuine and permanent. Saturn here is the Servant who becomes a Popular King!

Saturn and Aquarius

Now the second sign that Saturn owns, the 11th Aquarius. Here, he regulates linkages and networked systems, the government, large corporations and even the friend-circle. Shani is into all sorts of gatherings, even fan-clubs! The achievements, gain, material goals and luck in the market ecology and the economy are his domain. The 11th ruled groups are intensely social and established on a complex and regular network of human relationships. Saturn sets up the physical structure of the network, the people and also the regulations to operate it. Everyone irrespective of class and creed is welcome here, just the interests should be common. And naturally here too, it is essential to work if something is to be Gained. Thus the 11th is Saturn’s House of Profits.

In this house of Shani, all the grahas do a good job. From the Negotiator Venus, to the Chatty Mercury, the Regal Sun, to the Pedantic Jupiter, the Comfort-seeking Moon and the Competitor Mars all have something for them in these networks. Even the nebulous Ketu is welcome here and the Rahu, the foreigner the rule breaker the opportunist, is welcome to do business here. However the mode and object of gain for each is different as per his nature. Saturn allows Rahu co-ruler-ship of the 11th to some extent, this is because these networks have controlled components of risk and foreign-ness and selfish-ness which is the domain of Rahu. So, if you understand the Rules/Shani you can take a Risk/Rahu!

In the 11th, Laabh/Gain, Shani gives the ambitious, the right to aspire, to achieve and to create tangible gains! In the 11th, Saturn earns income thorough every source possible and in the (4th from the 11th) 2nd house Venus stores his treasury as a resource!

Shani is the agent of ethics, the rules that a society lives by and thrives. Shani is the force which makes you work off your karmic debts, helps set you set up your social position, helps set up the society, helps set up the markets, assures gains, and also grants you maturity in the process. What more can you ask for!

So you see, Shani does give you your Luck and your Money, but only after making you work hard for it, so that you appreciate it all the more! A deeply-felt Namaskar of gratitude to Shani for his blessings!

Saturn, the wrecking ball of your life..

Shani is the dreaded God of Karma, please read this post to know his real nature. He rules your luck and income too. He is the son of Surya the Sun. Sun also represents our Ego. Surya has two sons, one is Shani who delivers karma while we reside in the mortal world, Martyaloka and the other is Yama who delivers karma when we reside in his domains as spirits after the body death. Both terrify because they represent our own Actions which have now come to fruition. We sowed and these two ensure that we reap.woman picking plant on fieldShani in the horoscope is the one who restricts, constricts, slows and resists. But he also ensures that you work off your debts in a strict orderly disciplined manner. He brings about the maturity earned with hard earned experience. Check out the house Saturn occupies in your birth horoscope. It is the matters of this house which will give you the most soul-changing experience and Shani will administer them.

We know of the dreaded Sade-sati when the transit Saturn moves in the sign 12th to your birth moon sign, the actual moon sign and the sign 2nd from the moon sign. This is a period of 7.5 years where you are tested on an emotional level. Your comfort zones are destroyed and their stark reality is brought out. This event happens every 22.5yrs. But with this sade-sati taking so much attention, we forget that transit Shani in each of the 12 houses can bring about catastrophic changes.

Here will describe the effects of the transit Saturn in each of the 12 houses of the chart beginning from the ascendent. These changes will occur over a period of avg 2.5 yrs, the time Saturn takes to traverse the rashi. The overlying theme of these 2.5 years will be as given below. The effects will be modified by the aspects and transits of the other planets and the strength of the original birth horoscope. Shani takes off our rose-tinted glasses and makes us see the start harsh reality for what it is. eg, if your brother really does not like you but just pretends to, the reality will come out when Saturn traverses your 3rd house. Also Saturn’s periods seem more endurable after 36yrs of age and after 60yrs they become more understandable.Merry_Go_Round_by_Aurelia24.jpgShani is Structure, Time and Reality.

Transit Saturn in ascendent will directly affect the physical body, you may age suddenly. You may fall ill more often as your vitality is compromised. You may feel tired with painful joints and muscles. Be very alert regarding any physical symptoms and consult your doctors immediately. In addition, your and your parents social standing and luck will be affected. In short, you will look and feel and get older.

Transit Saturn in the 2nd house will impact the family heritage and assets. Some worrying realities regarding the family and group may come to light. Tangible family resources will shrink. Your personal health and health of family members will cause problems for you.

Transit Saturn in the 3rd house will put a spanner in your communications and teamwork. You might get into disputes with your neighbours, cousins and brothers. Feelings and actions against you which were hidden will come to the surface.

Transit Saturn in the 4th house home will uproot the foundations of your life. Health of your mother will be affected. The house you live in, your vehicles and landed properties will be in litigations. You may even lose these objects of emotional security and even death of the mother may occur.

Transit Saturn in the 5th house will impact your creative processes, most importantly your children. Keep an eye on your children least you get unpleasant shocks from them. If studying, your education will suffer. Also never gamble or speculate during this period.

Transit Saturn in the 6th house is relatively a better position as Saturn will help you maintain your problems at their current levels. Your problems of debt, disease and enemies will not worsen. Now is a good time to undergo deep healing and resolution of long suffered illnesses or debts. Your enemies also wont be able to cause you harm.clouds engine fast ironTransit Saturn in the 7th house, all your partnerships will suddenly develop issues. All activities which require fair play, negotiation, balance will fail. You will develop problems in business partnerships, marriage, contracts and legal situations. Patience and perseverance is the key. Do not make it worse by ill considered rash acts or immature behaviour.

Transit Saturn in the 8th house is again a better position as it extends your life. Shani will put a stop to those sudden changes which may potentially cause, accidents, medical operations or death. Bad luck is put on hold as situations do not get worse. This is again a time to work on whats really bothering you and using the energies of saturn to get it set up again.

Transit Saturn in the 9th house will make you revaluate your ideology and belief structures. Your outward expresssions of faith, like going to the church, performing pujas etc will be compromised. Your dead ancestors will demand some tarpans and energies. There will be issues with father figures and paternal male relatives.

Transit Saturn in the 10th house will cause a rift between you and your father. Health of the father will be affected and he may even die. Professionally you will be in a hard place, with more demands being made on your time and volume of work. You are required to organise your work patterns now in these 2.5yrs.

Transit Saturn in the 11th house makes you luckless. Do not gamble or speculate during this period. Your sources of income will be restricted. Your friends, networks and communities will also shun you. Keep a low profile during this period.

Transit Saturn in the 12th house will ruin your spiritual peace. You will be forced to completely understand what you have before you are given access to more spiritual tools. You will not get time to rest, sleep and pray. You will deeply disturbed at the subconscious levels which can create deep seated traumas. Be very careful as these subconscious traumas will spill over and be visible in your physical body when the Saturn moves on again to your ascendent.

These above are the physical realities of Saturn transits. How it will affect you on the emotional and comfort level is to be seen from the position of the transit Saturn from the birth moon sign. For the more subtler influences also count the current transiting rashi from your Birth Saturn rashi. This will give you the complete picture.

Saturn the wrecking ball, takes out every aspect of your life systematically in his transit cycle of 30years. And then does it again. Most of us experience 2 full cycles till the age of 60yrs.

Saturn, the son of the Ego, brings harsh realities to the surface and if you are pragmatic enough to understand it is actually a good thing.

Using the Energies of Saturn.

Everyone is scared of Shani, and it is quite natural, because Shani is our past, and everyone is rather scared of ones own past. I have written two more posts on Saturn transits effects on every aspect of your life. And how he also blesses us with his gifts of Luck and Money!

In our past lives we have done a lot, and I mean a whole lot of activities tagged with, “I, am doing this” and all the energies associated with those actions have taken the form of Shani. In Sanatan Dharm this is the “karma”. (The word Karma basically means to act.)

Now these energies from your past demand to be balanced and Saturn is the taskmaster who will ensure that you balance out each one of those actions. If in your earlier life you were a hard hearted husband who made his wife sleep on the floor you just might find yourself buying a bed for someone in this life (that person was the wife of the past life who has now come for balancing the energy and the karma).

Saturn is just like that strict teacher from school who never joked in class but taught something so valuable about discipline and using your resources fully that you remember him with gratitude for the rest of your life. Saturn is just that strict, teaching discipline, first using what you have fully before taking on new stuff, organising and learning the bitterest lessons of life with calmness and steadiness. Saturn is in short “growing up”.

No one really likes to take responsibility and Saturn ensures that you do just that, face up to your past and set things right. Our past is full of things which we did right and also those things which we did wrong. Our past happinesses and regrets both have to be faced up to. Just because Shani represents our past regrets does not mean we should be scared of him. He is here to help us not punish us. His lessons are prolonged, slow and we are required to learn patience and persistence. He then rewards us with maturity.

Then the dreaded “Shani Sade sati. The seven and half years of transit of Shani over your birth moon sign and the sign before and after it.

As soon as you visit a astrologer who wants to make you his regular patient, he will sooner or later invoke “Shani sade sati” to try to put you under a fear psychosis. If not sadesati then the Shani Mahadasa or Antardasha or Pratyantar dasha, or in fact anything to do with,” Saturn is going very bad for you and you have to now shell out money for pujas etc”.

But in fact your Shani periods are the periods of “house cleaning”. You clean up your life and get rid of the energies which were of no use to you anymore. These unwanted things, things which have outlived their utility can be anything, from relations to jobs, to mindsets, to houses, anything which has outlived it use. And in some cases this can be your body too, death of the individual where he discards the body which is of no more use to him.https://psychologicallyastrology.comShani also restricts, in the sense he forces you to use whatever has been allocated to you fully, to completely consume it and only then will he allot just that much extra as much as you can realistically use. No more but no less too. Shani forces you to utilize your internal energies to stop your disordered activity patterns and move towards regulation.

If you are going through a Shani period this is the basic that you must do so that your mindset changes and you adapt to the events going on in your life more easily. If you do this with complete intention and a sense of gratitude it will work wonders.

  1. Every saturday do a Jaap of the Shani beej mantra 108 times it is this .. ॐ प्राँ प्रीं प्रौं सः शनैश्चराय नमः .. And do remember as you are saying this for your own personal self it is to be pronounced as “OM prang pring proung sah shanaischaraya namah”. In case you are doing the jaap for someone else it should be pronounced as “OM pram prim proum sah shanaischaraya namah”.
  2. If you so feel inclined and you have the materials, a copper pyramidal hawan kund, desi cow dung cakes and desi cow milk ghee, you can yourself do a small hawan with this same beej mantra replacing namah by swaha.
  3. On saturdays light a copper small lamp with cotton wick and sesame oil in your own house puja ghar saying this small mantra for Saturn. Om Nilanjana samabhasam raviputram yamagrajam. Chaya martanda sambhutam tam namami shaishcharam OM. Sanskrit is ॐ नीलांजनसमाभासं रविपुत्रं यमाग्रजम्‌ छायामार्तण्ड सम्भूतं तं नमामि शनैश्चरम्‌ ॐ
  4. And finally depending on how hectic your schedule is try to do Dhyan once in a while, once a week is quite possible I think?

And Gratitude to Shani? Yes, do try to develop a mindset where you are grateful to the Universe for all that is given to you. All the good times and all the bad times. These too will pass.

This is all a journey where we pick up experiences and thus live. How boring would it be if we had only one type of experience all the time. The hard times help us appreciate the good times more and the good times provide us with a hope that helps us overcome our bad times.

Ultimately good or bad is just the mindset. Change your mind and the universe changes for you.

Use your Shani periods wisely to balance your karmic load and try to develop a mindset which does not sway with the times.
