Agnihotra Homa to harness the Sun’s power

I do the Agnihotra homa everyday at every sun-rise and sun-set. The most important thing is the timing. The exact time of sunrise and sunset is critical. If you miss this time, then this is not an Agnihotra Homa. And it is the easiest way in which you can gain energy for yourself and your house/ surroundings. The simplest Homa possible.

A very brief post on how you do it.

Things you will need,

  • Copper pyramidal homa kund – it has to be copper as copper is linked to heat and can transmit the energies most effectively. The pyramidal shape amplified the energies produced in the Agnihotra.

  • A small copper bowl to keep the ghee (clarified butter). A copper spoon of this specific shape below.

This above is the correct shape of the spoon but if you cannot get it in this shape then you can use this one below as a second option. But it should be made of copper.

  • Rice grains –  unpolished, whole, raw, white colored rice grains. Rice grains have a very nigh ability to absorb energy. So raw rice is called ‘Akshata’ which means unbroken or indestructible.
  • Ghee made of desi cow milk (post here) (The desi cow has a prominent hump, a prominent Surya-Ketu nadi, a prominent fold of skin under its neck, a oily skin, tail touching till the ground etc. They give A2 milk which is a medicine in its own right. We Indians used to breed only A2 cows or desi cows until the ‘white revolution’ created the half-breed cows whose milk is not fit for consumption.)
  • Cow dung cakes again only from the desi cow.
  • An Asan for you to sit on. The asan is all important, the foundation of all your spiritual activity. As you keep on using it again and again it also starts working like your energy battery. (post here)
  • A time table which shows you the exact time to the second of the sun-rise and sun-set at your location. This would be the time when the mid-point of the Sun’s disk is at the horizon.
  • An accurate watch with the seconds display to see the time for your location.

The Homa procedure

To begin with, clean yourself up, wash your hands/ feet/ face or have a bath if you have time. And dress in a loose fitting cotton dress.

Sit on your Asan, face east or north. Try to sit in Padmasan, Ardha-Padmasan or the Siddhasan yogic poses. If you cannot sit in these yogic poses, then sit cross legged. (If you cannot sit down, then sit in a chair but then arrange your Homa set-up on a table so that the fire is above your navel’s height.) Pray to your favourite deity or source of faith. If you have water from the Ganga, sprinkle it all around. If you have a conch, Shankh, blow on it thrice. Or try to visualise a cocoon of pure silvery-gold energy around you. Take a minute for all this so that you relax your mind.

Now to set up the Homa kund. Keep the pyramidal kund on a brick or a fire-proof tile else you might spoil the flooring.

Take 3 pieces of the cowdung cake and dip them in the ghee. Arrange these three pieces in the pyramidal kund in a sort of triangular arrangement with a small space between them. Take a smaller piece of cowdung cake, dip it in ghee and set it alight. Put this small burning piece in the small space you had left, so that the 3 main pieces also catch fire. If you can recite the Agni Gayatri, ‘Om saptajivhaya vidmahe, havvya-bhadraya dhimahi, tanno Agnih prachodayat Om’ while you light the fires it will help. Else at least recite ‘Om’. Agni is not just fire, it is the conscious intelligence of the fire. It is aware and has power. You are invoking it and requesting its help for performing the Homa.

Add some ghee on the burning cow-dung cakes using the spoon so that the fire starts blazing properly.

Do all this and get ready for the actual Homa at least 2-3 mins before the exact time of sunrise/ sunset.

Then while you are waiting for the exact time, you can recite the Gayatri mantra or any other Sanskrit mantra/ sukta/ shlok/ stotra as per your choice. Or recite Soham with your breath mentally, manasik jaap. Try to get your mind in a calm and peaceful state so that you can make the most of the Homa which you will be performing soon.

Then take about two pinches of the rice grains on your left palm.

Keep an eye on the exact time. At the exact time of the sunset/ sunrise you have to recite these following mantras and with each ‘Swaha’ drop one pinch of rice grains into the Homa Agni.

Use the ‘gras mudra’ for offering the pinch of rice to Agni.

Sunrise agnihotra mantra

  • Suryaya swaha, sooryaya idam na mama
    • (Offer one pinch of rice to the Agni with the word ‘swaha’)
  • Prajapataye swaha, prajapataye idam na mama
    • (Offer one pinch of rice to the Agni with the word ‘swaha’)

Sunset agnihotra mantra

  • Agnaye swaha, agnaye idam na mama
    • (Offer one pinch of rice to the Agni with the word ‘swaha’)
  • Prajapataye swaha, prajapataye idam na mama
    • (Offer one pinch of rice to the Agni with the word ‘swaha’)

That is it. These two mantras recited at sunrise/ sunset is the complete Agnihotra Homa.

Now sit in silence in front of the Agni till it extinguishes. You can do your Gayatri puja or your Dhyan (post here) during this period. Let the energy of the  Agnihotra Homa enter your body and mind. You can get up after the fire extinguishes.

Now the ash generated is not just ash, it is ‘vibhuti‘. The power of the mantra,  intention, time and energy generated by the Homa has entered the ash / Vibhuti. It is a ‘spiritual medicine’ now. Put some on your forehead, you can eat some of it. (My son eats it all as soon as it cools down. And if my mind was distracted during the Homa, he points it out as the taste of the Vibhuti changes, he says it becomes sour in taste.) You can store this vibhuti in a glass bowl for about 15days. Some uses for this vibhuti,

  • Put a pinch on the forehead as a tilak.
  • Use it to remove evil eye. Mix one pinch of this Vibhuti in a fistful of raw rice and use it to get rid of negative energy adhering to you (post here)
  • Eat it
  • Mix a pinch in the bath water.
  • Sprinkle it at the four corners of your house, it will act as a shield around the house.
  • Put a small pinch under the chair in your office
  • If you wish you can make an amulet using this
  • If you do not believe in its power, try this small experiment. Put this vibhuti in the potted plants you have in your house and see how they grow and also glow with energy. I give the extra vibhuti to the Tulsi plant (post here) in my house.

Agnihotra is the duty of every householder. The burst of energy at the exact instant of sunrise/sunset is channelised into you, your house and your surroundings through this Homa. If you have learnt to see auras or can see into the astral you will be able to see a literal explosion of energy bursting from the Agni as soon as the rice grains fall into it with the sound of the mantra. The energy of the smoke is also very high and wherever it goes, it will cleanse the atmosphere of all negative energy. If there are entities in your house or an evil eye on you or your family members then it will be blown away by the force of this energy explosion. Try it once and then evaluate the difference for yourself.

A personal experience. Some time ago, I was required by karma to travel astrally every single night for a few months. It was so tiring that I could not get up in the morning at sun-rise. It would take so long to reanimate the physical body and I was very drained. And there was additional work in office so I was missing the evening sun-set too. So for a few months there was no Agnihotra Homa performed in my house. (My son was small so could not do it alone. And my husband was even more busy than I was) The result was that the house was full of spirits and other trashy beings roaming around all the time. The house was in a bad shape. Only my pujs room was shiny and sparkling. Astral travel, though sounds romantic, is very bad for the physical body. It drains the pran-mai-kosh, and I was doing this every night. Also when you go to the other dimensions in your sooskhma sharir, you leave open ‘doors’ for the other beings to come in here. Even if you are careful to quickly shut the ‘doors’ these do get the opportunity to come to our world. And you are so focussed on the work that often you forget to shield the sookshma sharir and you get attacked a lot. A lot. The Agnihotra was not possible during these few months and I and my husband were both too tired to ‘clean up’, things went down-hill. When I restarted the Homa, things were driven out of my house on the first day itself. And with each succeeding day the shields re-formed got stronger and the house came back to its beautiful neat and clean, high-energy self.

So if you have the resources available do perform this simplest and easiest Agnihotra Homa. If you cannot do it at both sunrise and sunset do it at least once a day. It will bring a lot of positivity to you, your house and all the people living in your house.

 

Leo ascendant Integration

Ketu conjunct Lord of the Ascendant sign

I have written about Ketu conjunct the other planets. Ketu the headless graha internalises the planet he is with and changes his behaviour. This effect is quite significant if he is with your birth Moon (in about 8% charts). But the most challenging combination would be Ketu conjunct your ascendant lord. The probability that a planet is ascendant lord and conjunct Ketu in a chart is mathematically extremely low. Very few people have chosen this, as these energies are very unique and rather traumatic. If you are an evolved soul, this combination can gift you with immense spiritual progress after Ketu matures at the age of 48yrs. But before this happens life goes by in a strange daze.

The ascendant lord is the most important planet of your chart. The ascendant sign defines the personality and your environment. The exact rising degree is practically a graha/force in Jyotish (when you read the divisional charts). And its lord controls how your personality and your environment interact with each other. Eg if you have a powerful ascendant sign, both your personality, your environment will be equally beautiful. But the ascendant lord is in a bad position, you will not be comfortable with yourself nor be able to make full use of what is available to you in your environment.

If Rahu is desire, indulgence then Ketu is rehabilitation, revenge, rebalance, regeneration, renunciation. Ketu is primarily a malefic, related to catastrophes, karmic retribution, destruction of the material, inimical to Life. His results are not pleasing or satisfying to the body/mind, though they may be good for your soul’s spiritual progress. He is piercing, weird, eccentric, indifferent, separative, scorching. So the closer your ascendant is to Ketu, especially if both are in the same Nakshatra, you face a strange disconnect in every aspect of your life. Ketu brings in material adversities in any aspect of life he touches and obstructs the auspiciousness of the planet he touches. Ketu matures at the age of 48yrs, so he will hold back the maturity of the ascendant lord also till this age. There will be two very distinct and extreme phases in your life, before your 40s and after your 50s, with your 40s being the transition period.

Till you reach your 40s, you will be rather unpredictable, immature, prone to extremes of behaviour as Ketu’s intense impulses controls your interactions between your personality and your environment. Your mindset will be rather dark, you might prefer being alone, might get attracted to negative thoughts and behaviour. You are not very active, somewhat inert as you are not interested in anything much. You are more into your ‘Past Everything’ as you are determined to extract the last bit of information from your past lives, past interactions, past experiences etc. This might make you seem hazed out or vague. Thought processes can seem irrational as Ketu does not follow conventional logic. Ketu is instinctive and gets his information from very deep sources which are beyond comprehension to others. You might seem odd to others, your understanding is different, very deep. Clairvoyance, ‘clair-sentience’  exists. You can make that leap of intuition mixed with fiery intellect, a very unique and incisive logic which is always right. Your thought processes are subtle, sublime and your ideas are often so high up that you are often misunderstood by average people. You are not of this material world. Others might think that you imagine or make-up things but you are always proved right in the end.

Innocence is an overriding trait as ego does not exist, no action is motivated by selfishness as the sense of self itself is absent. You are shy, self-conscious, you do not have any sense of your own abilities and are highly impressionable. You always role-acting (can be a very good spy or professional actor) as you are not really interested in anything around you. You are an innocent and believe others to be innocent too but you can detect lies and fakes very easily. You want to know the truth of everything and you will work hard albeit in a disinterested manner to uncover it. Lies and falsehood will not be tolerated and if you have friends/family who lie to you, you will snap ties with them in an instant. You need fairness and justice in life. You like solving puzzles of every type, the mind likes finding solutions. If you get an idea, you stick to it, and it is generally correct, and you cannot be reasoned with. You have very strong likes and dislikes somtimes erratic and unpredictable. You might seem to be short-tempered, cruel and insensitive to others, but this is Ketu’s typical disinterest at work, you are not interested in them. Impulsiveness and intensity exists which comes from deep within your psyche and it is linked to the activities from your past lives. You are capable of staying alone in solitude for ages.

You are not religious in the conventional sense, occult is what you are. Occult is all those things which are mysterious and dangerous to others. You wander in areas which are very scary to others. Astrology, divination, tantra, telepathy, telekinesis, magic, hypnotism, astral stuff comes easily to you. In fact if others stare in your eyes for too long, you can actually mesmerise them. You are hypnotic, people find you mysterious and fascinating. You like travelling, physically/astrally and to places linked to secrets, mystery and occult. Research, searching for hidden things, secrets of the mind, studying the past eg archeology, inventing stuff, exploring underground treasures from minerals to the Kundalini are all possible. Obviously you are very sensitive to the astral dimensions, energy, ghosts, spirits etc. You know all secret things but you do not really care about all this. And you will face damage from these things, you are most vulnerable to damage from these ‘other things’ as you are apathetic to the things Ketu is linked to. You might be ill, hurt or simply overtired but you are not aware, you push your body (both physical and astral) beyond limits after which it can just snap. You should get yearly medical check-ups and also shield yourself from psychic damage. You will be prone to heat related diseases linked to problems of pran flow in your nadi-s. Take care of your physical eyes and nadis..

You are required to assimilate the lessons you have learnt from your past into your present, only then can you move ahead into the future. If Ketu can attach you to these past things then he himself is the force who can detach you from them in one sharp clean cut. He is the fog himself and will make you cut through his haze. Ketu is your deepest learnings from your past lives often associated with painful lessons. You will want to extract the least bit of information from these, and this process gives you tremendous pain on the emotional/ inner levels. But you are essentially indifferent to your self, so you go through this pain without any issue.

Ketu is illusion for those who operate on lower levels of consciousness but grants clarity and discerning insight to the evolved souls, as he can penetrate through all veils. If the chart shows an evolved soul then this weird influence of Ketu makes sense in the late 40s as the spiritual path becomes more obvious. A Seer, Sat-Guru can be produced with a strong Ketu+ascendant combination.

Spiritual practice or using your intelligence in a higher way can best channelise this Ketu+ascendant lord. Then you can come up with path breaking analysis which requires out of the box thinking. Any field linked to secrets, research, exploration, law, medicine, detection, crime, poisons, drugs, mind etc which requires incisive thinking is yours. Or you can also attain Moksh, as Moksh is essentially a paradox in the terms of this created worlds, a challenge well suited to your typical intelligence.

The placement, house/ sign in which this combination occurs will also matter. Also look into the houses placed in the 5/9 axis from this house. The ascendant lord in any house of the chart generally will give auspicious results or at least does not damage things too much. Whichever sign/ house the ascendant lord occupies gets more focus in the lifetime. However Ketu in the different houses requires analysis. One placement of Ketu+ascendant lord is especially powerful, if in Leo or the 5th house. This gives an independent spirit, an ability to transcend external influences, very deep perceptions and can dissolve the self-ego and grant you Moksh in this life itself.

But if this is not an evolved soul, then this combination affects longevity, mental balance, physical health and in fact every aspect of life, adversely. Whatever Ketu is capable of granting on the higher side as above will be affected by haze if he is functioning through his lower energy version. Then you become a ‘victim of circumstance’, your impulses and instinct get you into trouble. All the above positive attributes will be affected and there is more suffering in life. Ketu alone has the power to drastically reverse things and take things to extremes. So will it be a dramatic fall or rise in fortune, will depend on the power of the ascendant lord and the rest of the horoscope.

Ketu with the ascendant lord will, at some point of time, turn you into an ascetic, either visibly or internally. I have written about Ketu conjunct the individual other planets in my post here. Do go through it. Ketu with Jupiter takes away your luck and restricts auspiciousness in your life unless Jupiter has sufficient power to use Ketu’s abilities. If the ascendant lord Mars or Saturn is with Ketu, life will be intense and overall unhappy, even if they are relatively powerful in the chart. If Ketu is with a powerful Sun or Mercury as ascendant lord, then life can be manageable. Ketu with Moon as the ascendant lord can give high psychic abilities but will take you into the occult so living a normal life will not be very easy. Ketu with a powerful Venus ascendant lord will grant material dissatisfaction but can grant Moksh later in life.

You are the Nirvishesh Brahma, all our souls are the same Non-dual. And unless you realise your Reality, no other experience can really satisfy the soul. So Ketu in his real sense is the learning that there is no satisfaction in the things of this manifested universe. This learning is not made apparent till you experience the fun-fair of Creation and realise that it indeed does not satisfy. Thus the nameless longing to know real happiness, experience Moksh, intensifies. Ketu+Venus is the best possible Moksh-karak combination, in my opinion, for the spiritual aspirant. Ketu is the only force who can cut off all bonds and attachments to this manifested creation so completely that Moksh becomes possible. This is the real reason he is the most powerful of all the nava-graha.

(Someone in my family has a Ketu+Venus ascendant lord combination in D1 and Ketu+Moon in the D9. An interesting case study. Small things in her life also show this influence, dress sense is odd, got her nostril pierced and it got infected, eye vision went bad in childhood, debris in her 3rd eye chakra, highly intelligent but does not know where to use it, highly perceptive, not connected to her family, prefers being alone, highly educated, widowhood and remarriage, suffers routine injuries due to the occult, deeply into spiritual stuff, has occult abilities but is erratic etc.) Do keep a collection of sample charts of your family/friend circle, as you learn a lot from observing them on a regular basis.

Pisces the Paradoxical ascendent

There are three watery signs. Moveable Cancer, Fixed Scorpio and Dual-natured Pisces. When any of these signs gets placed in the ascendant, it creates a powerful personality with typical attributes. The depth of the fathomless sea, intuition, power to manipulate the astral body, access to the other dimensions etc. They are more in tune with their astral selves rather than their material selves and they all face very typical problems, which perhaps are the hardest of the lot. I have written a lot about the Cancer and Scorpio ascendants earlier, this post is about Pisces as the rising house. Pisces is an auspicious sign, but like the other two watery signs it has its own deep challenges. I have written about Moon in Pisces rashi here. Jupiter owns Pisces. The Teacher of Knowledge, the one who always supports, does not let you fall, allows you gather resources for your next jump up, the resourceful, benevolent, hopeful, expansive force rules Pisces.

Then the Teacher of the Esoteric, Venus, is exalted in Pisces. This is a very important bit of information. Venus is the real Moksh-karak, the one who guides you to your deepest one-one relationship with your higher self. Venus in Pisces guides the Soul to the divine and Jupiter provides the resources which will be burnt to gain that eternal experience.

And finally Mercury is debilitated in Pisces, another significant point. Mercury represents duality, the actions which lead to creation of karma and also the karmic conditions where you choose to serve or suffer in order to rebalance this karma. He is debilitated in Pisces, ie the energy of this rashi’s environment is completely unsuited to Mercury’s typical nature and activities. In Pisces, you are required to search for the universal, the one common thread linking all. Here you understand that you work not for personal gains but for the benefit of the universal good. This last sign of the zodiac is a paradox of combining completely opposite concepts which are perfectly united, fertility/ loss, movement/ stillness, duality/ nonduality, regeneration/decay, completion/start of a new cycle. The choice is yours how you use the potential energy of these attributes of Pisces, your ascendant rashi.

Pisces in the 1st house is again a bridge, you connect. You link people, situations, dimensions, consciousness, impossible odds, anything and everything can be connected by you. You are happiest and feel fulfilled when you act as the link between. Try to incorporate this concept in some way in your life, you will feel more satisfied with yourself. Pisces contains 3 lunar mansions, Poorva-bhadrapada, Uttara-bhadrapada and Revati. Pisces rising gives you a soft, quiet and gentle personality. You are religious-minded and spiritual by nature and you are respected for this. You are irresistible, shy and generally very charming, cute? Your appearance and behaviour is attractive, you are kind, others are compelled to approach you, you are very attractive. Actually your astral self, as projected through your aura is very attractive, people are pulled to you because of your genuinely loving, benevolent, non-judgemental aura. They feel peace when they are close to you. You will find people confiding in you, you know secrets about everyone you know! And you never take advantage of anyone else, though others can at times take advantage of your gentle all-accepting nature.

Pisces the Paradoxical ascendent

You are generally well-off, good-natured, sympathetic, empathetic, a good listener and a good companion. Your perspective is generally original, you look at things very differently. You are very clear about family, friends, social relations and if you feel that you are required to do something for others you do it willingly. You are generally content by nature, generous, always willing to share or give.  Basically an honest, religious helpful person, your intentions are good, you wish to do good by others and you try to help others as possible. Aware of society and social behaviour, you like interacting with the large groups around you. But if you stay in large groups for long, you get uneasy as your aura gets over whelmed by so many people around you. You are not active, no hustle bustle to you. Relatively passive, you accept the situations as they come. You are rather clueless about strategising and creating conditions to for your personal advantage, rather innocent in the ways of life.

You are restless, you search, but for what?, this only you know. You are dreamy, not practical, absent minded, you forget all those things which don’t make you ‘feel’. You can seem impressionable, vague and directionless. An open mind which accepts influences, opinions and ideas like a sponge. You are changeable in your manner and behaviour. You are not objective in life but subjective. Less logic, less numbers, less hard reality and more feelings, more intuition more love. You require freedom, you like to explore, but this is more an internal freedom to ‘feel’ as you desire. You ‘feel’ your way through life. You like touching your loved one too, hugs, kisses and cuddles satisfy you. If your loved one puts restrictions on your feelings/ behaviour or disregards your intuition, this will cause problems between you two.

But one interesting thing about Pisces is this, you, after Capricorn, are the best decision-maker of the zodiac. Surprised? You are connected to your astral sum and  have intuitive sources of information which other signs cannot even fathom. You are the repository of the learnings of the entire zodiac so have a tremendous resource within you. If you are ever required to take a decision about something which touches you, you can take the best possible decision at that time, very practical and fair. But if you are not emotionally linked to the topic, if it means nothing to you, you will be vague, indecisive and your usual dreamy self. The Paradox of the Pisces!

You avoid conflict. One reason is that harsh words tear into your aura, so you get psychic attacked by the person who is arguing with you. You cannot defend yourself from astral attacks, especially if it is your loved one attacking you. In case you do not know how to repair your tattered aura, there are spirits around who dig hooks into your torn aura and suck up your energy. This aura damage causes real harm to you on all levels. Second reason is your very high emotional sensitivity. You get into an argument and the same argument comes up again later. Now you not only remember the initial argument but you remember how you felt, it is so intense that it feels like that same argument is happening again with double the associated emotions. You remember emotions! So you cannot bear intensely negative emotions or situations especially if they happen again and again.

You want an easy-going life and you enjoy whatever you have. You generally have a good house, cars etc, life is reasonably comfortable. You are quite attached to your family, siblings, spouse and children. Girlfriends/ boyfriends are quite possible and you should beware of getting into undesirable relationships before/ outside marriage. You are quite romantic in marriage and like spending time with your spouse, having close emotional bonds feels good. You like giving and receiving gifts, visible expressions of love are important to you. Married life is generally stable and happy. The spouse is generally reliable, intelligent, adaptable and practical. You are rather dreamy and impractical so your loved one is required to do all the practical stuff, like money budgeting, bank balance, major life plans etc. You follow him without question or hesitation. So marry only after matching the horoscopes and marry someone who values your love and complete trust.

Your father has an important role in your life, maybe you are attached more to him than your mother. Or you may have a spiritual father, a Sat-Guru, to whom you look up to for spiritual support. The friend-circle is good, there are intelligent and positive people here. You derive emotional comfort from these people around you. You have very deep sense of emotions. Highly aware of your and others emotions, emotional pleasure or pain touches your soul deeply. This sensitivity is the source of your creative inclinations. You generally keep your personal desires secret and channelise them through your work, you write or paint etc, express yourself in some creative way. Your creative works will have a touch of mystery and can showcase your hidden depths. You can be a professional artist if you want to. Your professional life, social mobility and social status is generally quite satisfactory.

Generally healthy, but not very robust, you tire easily. This tiredness is linked to your sensitive aura again. Best go for annual check-ups once a year after mid-life. You do not like taking medicines, there might be some drug sensitivity or allergic reactions. Your aura is weak around the feet so you can lose your energy from here. Your aura is very susceptible so follow a schedule of cleansing, grounding and shielding. This will prevent evil eye and psychic attacks, you are more prone to these than any other sign of the zodiac. You cannot resist anything which attacks or makes demands from you on any level.

During your childhood and in the young age there are typical difficulties mostly because of your sensitivity to auras and the astral planes. Children are more sensitive as it is when they are young, so this double sensitivity can cause you problems. But this is the reason why Pisces is so different. You have experienced life in all its hues through others in such a young age. These childhood issues ease out as your planets mature one after the others. So she vicariously lived through so many traumas, divorces, deaths, murders, cheating, etc absorbing the energies of these twisted legal issues connected to all these people on a daily basis. She suffered alone and intensely in her childhood, but today she is truly one of the gentlest and kindest souls I know. This rather traumatic childhood experience has with time created genuine compassion in her soul.)

Now with this ascendant, there are some typical hardships which can occur suddenly without warning. One advice is to ever gamble in life. Or never take up risky ventures as you might lose your money. Another inner divide you face is your powerful belief in individuality but still you deeply believe in the unified whole. This statement can make sense to only a Pisces! This leads to a dual mindset as you are unable to choose between the material or the spiritual. On one side you want to experience the highest spiritual and on the other hand the sensory and material gratification beckons. The extent of this duality will depend on the individual horoscope, but it will exist (this existential schism is a common features of all watery sign ascendants). You might get bad advice from your siblings and friends. So before acting on such advice do ask your inner conscience. Selfishness, cruelty, immoral activities etc are bad karma, avoid them assiduously, you, Pisces, will suffer more than anyone else. You are a bit dreamy by nature, very hopeful, looking for the good in everyone else, you are too innocent to realise obvious dangers. So if you have someone genuine you trust, do take his opinion on saving money, investments etc material stuff. Be careful about giving your trust or love to anyone.

These two fish swim continuously but do not go apart. This indicates your very deep struggle to hold on to your sense of self. You are hard at work to remain still, a paradox. Your duality is controlled in such a way that the Non-dual emerges. This is a very high precision thing that Pisces does. Outwardly dreamy, passive, you are hard at work within to remain absolutely still. This is the reason why this rashi is connected to Moksh. If you desire to and work hard to achieve that perfect stillness, this sign will provide you the necessary environment to attain the Eternal. I found this image on the internet and whoever has made this, has done a lovely job. A Pisces dominated personality is Love, very loveable and eager to love, hearts sprinkled all over. I have seen that Pisces is the most non-judgemental one, he accepts anything from his loved one, without question or hesitation. And look at his mirror, Virgo with his broken heart. Virgos are so anxious about everything that they worry about love, expressions of love, falling in love, their loved one, worry so much that cannot see what their mirror Pisces is offering them, always. Thus the Virgo broken heart, a heart in such anxiety that it does not know to love, doesn’t recognise love if it is offered to him on a platter. And only a Pisces can love such a mirror, Pisces has so many extra hearts in him that he can easily make up for his loved Virgo’s broken one. But then having so many hearts can be an issue too, if a Pisces deeply loves someone with all his hearts, and then gets his hearts broken, all those hearts on his body break, this then results in unending pain for the Pisces. I had thought of doing a series on the ascendant signs. Not the regular stuff which you can read anywhere, something that will make you think about yourself and help you grow. The ascendant sign and its ruler are the most important forces in your life. I have written about the Cancer ascendant and Leo ascendants in depth and a bit on the Libra ascendant and its compulsion to balance.

Most of us are students of astrology, so we should not limit ourselves to the birth chart D-1. If you have the exact birth time, you should also open your Navamsha chart, D-9 and see how your potential D-9 translates into the manifested D1. Eg your ascendant sign in D1 is Cancer and in the D-9 the first house becomes Scorpio, you will be outwardly Cancer but your inner core expectations will be of Scorpio. Your overall personality/ environment will be a blend of these two signs. This is real self-discovery, delving into the layers of your personality till you reach your real self.

Highly ambitious, you desire a prominent and comfortable status in life. You expect so much from your materialistic life that you can delude yourself into believing you can attain the impossible. In this material pursuit you can get into shady, secret, criminal activities. You do not believe yourself to be under any other’s rule. It is said that the Scorpion stings others but also stings itself. You quarrel with, dominate and hurt others, it is evident. But your own nature is essentially self-destructive and in the long run, metaphorically, you do sting your self. Short term achievements mixed with long term frustration. You are often your own worst enemy.

Health is generally average. But you suffer in secret. Mental and emotional upheavals are a routine part of your life. You are always alert thus under stress. You are intelligent, logical, you micro-analyse everything. This takes its toll on your emotional and physical health. Blood related diseases, haemorrhages, surgeries, psychic attacks, harm by the occult etc are possible. Diseases or abnormalities in the sexual organs are possible. In addition if there are other combinations, secret drug addiction can happen. You engage in risky behaviour, so accidents of different types also cannot be ruled out.

Marriage does not satisfy. Marriage is a compromise, a fair and equitable relationship where both partners mutually adjust to each other. But you can never adjust to your spouse’s wishes, you will always dominate. You generally marry into a good family but you are not satisfied with your spouse. You indulge in physical intimacy, affairs before and even during marriage are possible. You are concerned only about your own personal pleasure, your own satisfaction and your own needs. There may be some secret intimacy issue. You might not be faithful to your spouse. If your spouse sacrifices his entire existence and remains fully subservient to you, then this marriage can work. But no spouse will continue in this situation for long, there will be tension. Being continually repressed is practically domestic abuse for the spouse. This causes general unhappiness in marriage. Death of spouse, divorce, separation and multiple marriages are possible, conflict in marriage always exists in some form or the other.

Children are few and you cannot deeply connect with them either. Unless you have some planets supporting your 5th house, children can be a source of problems and frustration. (I have observed such children carry deep impressions of their early life marked by arguments and issues between the parents, which is a baggage in itself.)

In the professional field, you prefer jobs where secrecy, arguments, lawlessness, indiscipline, occult, trauma, etc predominate. So you might get into illegal activities, perhaps a smuggler?, become a lawyer, surgeon, astrologer, tantrik, shaman, etc. You will associate with a variety of people, unexpected alliances and relationships are quite possible. You will have occultists, philosophers, the odd-balls of society, negative people, immoral people also in your contact. Cruelty is an attribute of this sign and it will find its expression in your actions. You earn money by your efforts and are generally well-off. You do not like to waste money but will not hesitate to splurge when your sensual desires are to be satisfied.

You have an understanding of the other dimensions and the occult. You know that there is more to life than the material. Helping others, as a concept, appeals to you though you do not act on it. You do desire realization of the Eternal and you understand the importance of spirituality also. Maybe you practice something on this path too. But, and this is your Achilles heel, you are very passionate, stimulated by the sensual, sexual, highly materialistic and quite interested in gratification of the body. Your greatest challenge is on the sexual desire front, understand that this is actually an imbalance, the more you feed it energy/ desire, the more you pay attention to it, the more it will pull you down.

Torn between opposites is a very typical feature of Scorpio. You know what is the correct path, you know which action is the correct one, but your highly passionate nature frustrates you. You are unable to fully commit to the altruistic or spiritual path, the higher energy route, because you cannot control your Mind’s passions. And if you choose the lower materialistic path, you cannot be happy here as your spiritual ideals do not allow you to enjoy this sensual gratification either. This can lead to intense psychological frustration, which pours out in your typical hurtful behaviour with others.

Finally Scorpio at the very last stages of life annihilates material attachments. This is strangely sad that you, who for a life-time desired sensual gratification and chased after short-term desires, at the very last phase of life realise that all this was a waste. You are taught the lesson thoroughly, the tempting apple was rotten at the core.

Scorpio is mysterious for another deep reason. You are buffeted by the impulses connected to your past karmic actions. You have undefined fears, secret fears linked to these past karma. You cannot control them as you are consciously unaware of them. These impulses are kept secret from your conscious control. Your sub-conscious is highly motivated by these mysterious impulses. Life events and circumstances are most directly the fruits of past karmas. If you sink into the material then this can be thought of as karmic retribution, this results in immense suffering for you and the others around you. Or if you rise to meet your spiritual vision, this is a blessing from your previous auspicious karma, you gain the Eternal, there are obviously trials and frustrations, but your greatest ability to control the pran/vital energy and the Kundalini comes to the fore. Scorpio is the most occult of the signs just for this reason.

This choice of material/ spiritual will be offered to you only once in this life. Choose well. Once you commit your energy to the sensual slippery slope, getting back to the spiritual will not be possible in this life.

As you vacillate between hope and despair, you face your existential challenge. Your challenge is not to control your conscious actions, this is just a very small part of it. The real challenge is to understand and control your sub-conscious. A challenge worthy of your typical abilities. You will be torn by conflicting ideas, desires and possibilities. You know your motivation for the material is selfish, egoistic, short-sighted and your desires for sensory gratification are shallow. You have the gift of seeing your own naked self, but you somehow cannot bring yourself to look upon yourself. You are a secret to yourself! But your own unusual intelligence and abilities will show you your own incredible depth, with time. The trick is to not get enmeshed in tangles created by your materialistic actions in the meanwhile.

This was the very basic analysis on the psychological levels, the details and modifications will depend on your individual horoscope and the placement of the planets. I have always thought Scorpio to be a very typical ascendant. Dangerous if you do not handle your energies with intention and firmness. I have seen for people with Scorpio as their D1 birth chart’s ascendant, married life is always problematic. Death of the spouse, divorce, affairs, separations, multiple marriages, general incompatibility are a common trend. But Scorpio as the D1 visible energy, is evident on the face of it. Someone marrying this person will know what kind of a person he/she is marrying so perhaps can adjust to the Scorpio nature or come to some sort of terms with it. And you also know how your nature is, maybe you read posts like these and realise things about yourself.

But most strange are those people who have their D-9 chart’s 1st house with the Scorpio sign. Most of us are not aware of the Navamsha charts. So one never knows, in so many words, what their core expectations and potential is. Their outward nature is something else, eg Cancer ascendant in birth chart. But their core expectations are as per the underlying Scorpio nature! This transforms them more completely after marriage. So this person will show his Scorpio core with the spouse/ children. Which can be quite a shock for all concerned.

Scorpio sign is not a good or a bad ascendant, no sign is good/bad, all just exist. It just means that you have chosen a specific route to balance your karma. The sign is a collection of attributes, some are very base, some are very highly elevated. Choose the attributes which help you reach your highest goal in the best possible way. You always have a choice. One or the other.

If you are such a Scorpio, choose long-term goals, engage your energies in finding inner peace, this will mean mediation of some sort. Try to gain control over your pran/ vital energy. Try to think on what good you can do for the society, follow some sort of enabling positive philosophy in life. Surround yourself with people who wish you well, acknowledge their love and support. Control over your mind and its base desires is essential for you. There will be intermittent periods emotion/ passion which will put you severely off-balance.

There are two distinct types of Scorpio’s, the Highest Spiritual and the Worst Material, nothing in between. So Choose how you decide to lead your life. If you choose the Spiritual you will suffer karmic pain but the end result will be worth it. If you choose the Material your life will be complicated, frustrated, bitter and nothing to show for it as you express the worst traits of the self-destructive Scorpio. So your fire must be directed towards the Highest Spiritual to best make use of these high voltage Scorpio energies. Analyse yourself in depth and listen to your conscience always before you act. You alone are responsible for what happens to you in life.

Exorcisms and releasing spirits

I got this question, someone was being asked to remove spirits trapped in a plot of land. And a spirit was asking this of him.

Land or homes can be affected by negative energy. It is quite common. This negative energy can be actual spirits, a shadow ‘chhaya’, or just generic ill-wishing. I have written about this in my posts on hauntings, how to remove the spirits etc. If you believe your personal house or land is haunted by negative spirits then you should get rid of them. You can do it yourself or get a professional to do it as per your wish. But if you are being asked by another spirit to go to a plot of land and clean it out of the negative bindings and to release the other trapped spirits there, you must think first on what you really want to do. Does your higher self agree with what this spirit is asking? If so, and you are confident about your capabilities then go ahead but with adequate precautions. If not then stay away.

This ‘cleaning up the land thingie’, has happened to me several times. The most recent was this, I was to go to Moscow and I was specifically told to carry a small bottle of Ganga-jal with me. Water from the river Ganga has the highest pran/ vital energy on this planet. Then I was told to sprinkle some of this water on one specific place there, this place was shown to me in a vision and also described in words. I was to put some of it into the Moskva river because apparently it meets the Volga river later. I did ask before doing all this, why? and why me?. The answer was that I would be completing a significant chunk of my own karmic work by doing so and some very specific reasons were also given. It was a very clear-cut direction. So I did all of this and it worked well, I saw the energy of the land and the waters changing before my eyes in a blast of explosive gold-silver glitter. I had several dreams about some people and past lives in ancient Russia. Overall a very satisfactory experience.

Then there was another episode, very long ago, when I set free a very large number of spirits trapped somewhere. (The how and the whys of this incident would be too much for this blog). All these spirits which I had released, had latched on to me and were absorbing my energy, so many tiny hooks embedded in my aura. So if you intend to release spirits trapped somewhere, remember that they will be down on energy and after you release them they will want to possibly drink up some of your own clean, pure, positive energy. All spirits are not benign, some are actively bad and will take a chance for free energy and attack. So shield yourself carefully. Create multiple layers of energy around yourself and protect yourself from the psychic attacks which will come. After you finish your work, cleanse your own energy adequately. Boost your own energy. I have written posts on these topics too earlier, do re-read them before attempting this task.

Exorcisms and releasing spirits

And finally decide for yourself if these spirits really need to be released? And are you supposed to release them yourself? In that same Moscow tour, I saw some more spirits who wanted me to release their bindings, but their time was not done yet. They were souls of people who had committed grave crimes against their own people and were going through their due karmic rebalance in spirit form while tied in that place. It was their karma to continue for some more time like that and it was not my karma to free them. So I did not do anything despite having that small Ganga-jal bottle with me.

Cleaning a plot of land can be as simple as putting Ganga-jal on it or putting some curd/rice in it or lighting an incense stick or reciting a mantra on it. But do it only if you are really have to. If your conscience agrees that it is your karma.

And entities attach to us through the weak chinks in our aura. These cracks are most commonly seen around body parts linked to the ascendant sign, the moon sign and the sign occupied by Ketu in your birth chart. So when you seal your aura or make your shields pay more attention to your these areas. eg If Pisces Moon – around the feet. Or if Libra -Ketu then around the back the aura will be weak etc.

There are a few people who can see the astral and other realms more easily and this is because they have to work there. Or they face dangers from these places and their denizens. So this additional ability has been given to them. It is not wonderful or charismatic. It can be tiring at times and sometimes outrightly dangerous. So if you are required by karma to work in these other places, do your spiritual practices, increase your own energy and always shield, first protect yourself.
