The early morning when you wake up is a very valuable time and should be used very wisely. This is a very brief period when you wake up, those few minutes when you are half awake and till you get fully awake. Most important is to wake up naturally or if you need to use an alarm use the gentlest and most soothing tone you can, ‘drops of water’ type of tone. A screeching loud alarm jerks you awake causing trauma on the sub-conscious levels.

Simple energy practices to increase pran

1.You can increase the flow of pran/vital energy in your body in this half awake/asleep state. Our body is electromagnetic and we live in a an ocean of this pran energy called Hiranyagarbha or Samashthi pran. You can easily increase your energy levels by this simple exercise as you wake up in the morning or as you lie in bed in the night.

  • Lie flat on your back, spine and neck straight.
  • Put both palms on your navel.
  • Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.
  • Visualise yourself floating in an ocean of sparkly gold silver light. Breathe in this light through your nose.
  • As you exhale through your mouth visualise the negative stuff leaving your body as wisps of blackness.
  • Do at least 12 breaths, slow abdominal breathing. Do not force yourself. This will take you 2-3 minutes.
  • Wake up completely and get up to a new day.

2. You can power an intention. This will help your intention to manifest more quickly and easily as you are powering it with the energies of the awake and astral selves as well as tapping into the unknown depths of the universal energies found at the boundary of awakeness and sleep.

  • Think of your intention. You can intend health/happiness. You can ask for answers for something that is deeply troubling you. The ‘Why’ of something you deeply want to know. etc
  • Lie flat on your back, spine and neck straight. Put both palms on your heart.
  • In that half awake/asleep state focus gently on your third eye.
  • Think of your intention as gently yet deeply as possible. Do not force yourself, be as gentle as possible.
  • Breathe slowly/deeply, abdominal breathing for 12 breaths.
  • Wake up and get up from the bed.

3. You can do a small awareness exercise. I have written about it here. This helps the movement of pran/vital energy to every part of your body. As you become more aware of your own physical self you use all the energies available in these 2-3 minutes to consciously heal and energise every part of your body.

4. Or you can do this very minor routine. You can try this in the morning just as you open your eyes. This helps you energise your hands/your activities that you will do in the day, your mind/the thoughts you will think during the day and the support you will get from your environment and your inner self.

5. You can also do a small chakra healing on yourself if you have 10 minutes to yourself as you wake up. Lie flat on your back, spine and neck straight.

  • You keep your left hand on your third eye and your right hand, first on the muladhar (the joint of your legs), the swadhisthana (below your navel), the manipur (the navel), the anahata (the heart) and the vishuddhi (the throat) chakras for 12 breaths each.
  • While you do this just focus on your breathing, breathe deeply and slowly. Visualise silver-gold light entering in with each inhalation and blackness moving out with every exhalation.

6. Balance your naadis. The body has its energy channels/naadis through which pran/vital energy moves powered by the energy vertices/chakras. Doing a basic pranayam (which is very easy), for only 12 breaths as you wake up (or sleep) balances the two main naadis Ida and Pingala. This helps your energy body to regain balance. Sit up in bed, neck and back straight. Right hand dominant people to breathe in first through the left nostril and left handed persons should breathe in first through the right nostril. 12 breaths will take you 2-3 minutes.

The part is also the whole. As you consciously plant your seed of intention and energy you are starting on something new and reinforcing it every day. In this in-between state, the mind is silent, you do not have self-doubts, no self-criticism and you are leaving things in the care of your higher self. Trust yourself and it will manifest.

You get these few minutes of half awake/asleep state right before you drop off to sleep too so you can do one of these exercises again as you sleep. It will give you more energy overall and help you in several ways, tiny ways which will aggregate and manifest in your physical life. You can easily give yourself these few minutes, in a whole day of 24hrs. These are your own few minutes which you are investing in your own health and happiness. Still not convinced? Manifestation is such a catch word these days! Everyone wants to manifest true love, health, wealth, vacations, new dresses, anything  under the Sun. And it is all hyped up too. Apparently you need to be a lightworker, energy manipulator and what-not to be able to manifest your desires. And there are a load of classes and astrologers who will ‘help’ you manifest your desires after charging a hefty fee of course!

Am penning this fun post for you to try manifesting stuff at home yourself, and have some fun in the process, with Lego! Surprised? Don’t be, manifestation is your will and your intention channelized to get what you desire. You can power your intention using various ways, mantras, reiki, chi-balls, prayers, meditation or Faith.

So let’s start. On a day when you have some free time, get your favourite Lego set out. Get your most appealing glitter pen set and a paper. Face east or north. Keep all this in front of you, get comfortable. Think of your favourite deity/Reiki/Universe/the source of your Faith. If you feel like singing a hymn or a mantra or doing any ritual or not, it is all upto you. Then write out your desire in simple words on the paper and focus on it. Be happy, admire the ink and your handwriting. Be in an uplifted mood when you do this. Now open the box and touch the Lego pieces. Feel your intention enter the pieces. Feel the joy that you will feel as your desire manifests. Talk to the Lego pieces, soak them in your intention and your confidence to create. Then slowly with all focus set the lego pieces and get to creating, enjoy yourself. As you make your lego model, visualise your desires also manifesting in the physical world. After you finish keep this model somewhere where you can see it for a minimum 21 days. (You can then dismantle your set if you want to and reuse it to manifest a new desire.)

If you are into art and crafts, if you can create, i.e. paint, knit, crochet, carpentry, you can associate your intention and desires with any of the pieces you can easily create. If you cook, intend your desire while you are cooking and eat what you have made! Healthy soups were made on these same theory. Cooking soup for a loved one required a lot of stirring, and the woman cooking it would intend love and health all the while stirring it, energising it. You are the Creator, use any of the tools at your disposal. Act, your tiniest action powered with your entire Will, has Power!

You are in control of yourself, never forget that. You have immense powers to manifest your own desires. You are the Creator yourself.

There is another hot word doing the rounds, ‘manifestation’. In every website on energy and consciousness there is a section on how to manifest your desires in 10-steps! Well, here is one really easy step for you. Plant a seed! Literally..

First think about what type of desire you want to manifest, logically human desires can be of the following categories, no more than these.

  1. Finances
  2. Health
  3. Profession
  4. Relationships
  5. Spirituality

Then choose your seed. Actually! Choose a robust plant, which you can plant from a seed, suited to the place and season you are in! You will now charge this seed with your intention and plant it in a pot. Water it and care for it. Add intention. As it grows so will your desires manifest. This is a secret of the Universe!

In India, women have been doing this seed/ plant/ manifestation thingie for ages and ages. Women are traditionally home-makers, it is the most difficult thing to do, ‘make a home’. They are in-charge of maintaining the house, ensuring a balanced diet, balancing the household-accounts, maintaining relationships within the social hierarchy, raising children as responsible citizens, and then finding a daughter/son-in-law, and even more, that is a lot of work. So the Indian woman uses the energies of the Universe channelized through a Tulasi plant. She plants a Tulasi in her house. Tulsi is botanically Ocimum tenuiflorum and an indispensable plant in Indian spiritual traditions. The plant is charged with her energies and her request for help. She prays to the Tulasi, considers it as an aspect of Devi Laxmi, the Goddess of Prosperity, everyday. She intends prosperity, health and happiness and gets it too, for every member of her home. This is the magic of nature channelized through intention!

So now let’s do it. If you have chosen the desire and the seed whose growing energies will fuel your desires, this is how you go about it..

  1. Plan to plant your seed on the day which resonates with your desire.
    • Sunday – children, intelligence, creativity, higher education, gambling
    • Monday – mind, emotions, home, comforts, land, vehicles, property
    • Tuesday – physical body, health, vitality, competitions
    • Wednesday – communications, early education, money from trade
    • Thursday – expansion of all positive traits you desire
    • Friday – partnerships, business, relationships, love
    • Saturday – work and energy to perform sustained work, money from work
  2. Choose something that you like, tulasi, geranium, fuschia, oh, whatever feels good to you! You can also choose a fragrant plant resonating with that planet’s energy, refer this post. Get a plant which is easy to grow in your house. Get its one seed. Keep it on a green colored cloth on your altar/puja ghar, for some time.
  3. While it is on the altar, surround it with all the objects of power that you have. Maybe a rune? Or a mantra written on a paper? Or reiki? Or call on your favourite deity or the energies of the Universe.
  4. Cup your palms around the seed and tell it your desire. Feel it listening and absorbing your emotions. Feel it growing into a healthy plant bearing flowers/fruits. You are powering it with your intention so be true.
  5. When you feel satisfied, take this seed and plant it in a pot in your house. Intend it to grow and for your desires to manifest with its growth.
  6. Water it, tend to it regularly with the same intention in mind. Reinforce it.
  7. If the plant grows properly, your desire too will manifest.
  8. If it dies or fails to germinate, then re-think on what you were trying to materialise. Maybe it was not appropriate for you or hurtful for someone else.
  9. After it has grown and your desires also manifested, it will, as per its natural life cycle, flower, fruit and eventually die naturally. This is ok as your desires will have already been satisfied by this time.
  10. If you have planted a kitchen herb or fragrant plant, you have another advantage of being able to use it also as such.

This seeding-desire thingie may sound a bit funny, but it works. It has always worked for ages. The Tulasi is proof of the power of Intention coupled with Nature. The energy of a seed is limitless, it can power its own growth and also your intention. Trust and be patient. Nature will manifest your desires!
