Criminal tendencies from the horoscope

One placement does not make a reading, always look for repeating patterns. Judging someone’s nature from the horoscope is a very personal thing. You cannot make sweeping statements from one single placement ever.

In your practice you will generally not get criminals as clients. And this post is not a study on criminals. This is to help you work with your clients. You might notice some charts with tendencies for criminal behaviour. If you get such charts especially for marriage matching you should delve deeper. If a person has violent tendencies, the marriage matching should be rejected as they can later find an outlet on the spouse/children and result in marital abuse. These tendencies in the birth chart will be triggered in the appropriate Dasha periods and typical transits. Or when deep events like marriage occur where two persons karma merge. Till then these tendencies may remain silent under the surface so the role of an astrologer is important. (In some castes, the boy’s family does not give his birth details to the girl’s family. Only the boys’ family matches the charts. This in my opinion is very dangerous for the girls. Girls are more vulnerable after marriage and an arranged match without checking his horoscope is very risky, you never know what you are marrying into! Both girl’s and boy’s families should get the matching done with their own astrologers.)

And if you have such patterns in your own chart then do self-introspect. How do you behave with others? How do others feel about you? Are you needlessly cruel? Jyotish is primarily a route to self-discovery, so use it in full. (And if you are a victim to some such person, do not endure this abuse, find help.)

  • Check the Birth chart D-1 for the actual physical personality and the environment, the actual physical stuff which can occur in life.
  • Check the Moon chart for the emotional and psychological context.
  • If you have the exact birth time available, check the Navamsha D-9 chart. This gives the philosophy and the foundation of a person’s life, mind and body. The D-9 is the complete potential and the D-1 is the actually expressed part of it. The D-1 and the D-9 both will show the tendencies.
    • The D-9 is considered strong if, the first house is occupied by the same sign in both D-1 and D-9. The planets from the D-1 occupy the same signs in the D-9. Planets get exalted in the D-9. Planets occupy the Pushkar navamsha. Planets occupy their own signs in the D-9 or their friends signs. The D-1 signs of the 6th, 8th 12th houses should ideally remain vacant in the D-9 etc.
    • Eg a beautifully exalted Sun/Aries in the 10th house/dig-bala if becomes debilitated/Libra and in the 12th house/maran-karak sthan in the Navamsha, this person will have an inner high sense of deep selfishness/ cruelty and outer sense of regal superiority. So a superficial beautiful placement in the D-1 is essentially quite bad at the D-9 core.

Criminal tendencies from the horoscope

The Sun defines the self-ego. And self-ego leads to intentions and actions. For criminal tendencies to exist there has to be some problem with the birth Sun. Sun is a malefic in the first place. A sense of mania, a confidence that one can get away with crime requires the Sun be active in his malefic role. This can mean the Sun is debilitated or aspected by other malefics or in a watery signs. A false sense of superiority and entitlement can lead to behaviour which can be considered criminal. Look for patterns. There should be at least 3 or more strong corroborating placements for coming to conclusions about ‘criminality’. In fact the quality of the entire chart as a whole will be very low. The two luminaries, Sun and the Moon are the ‘eyes’ of the chart. If these both are unable to give auspicious results, the quality of the horoscope is lowered substantially.

Study the Moon, his position in the chart. What kind of a mentality does he indicate, the environment of his early life, the role of the mother in shaping the mind, the early life? Culture, customs and the environment in which the Mind developed are very important indicators. So if your client is from a culture where wives are beaten routinely he will not consider this to be criminal activity. If the Moon is in the 6th, 8th or 12th, the regular houses of turmoil and with/ aspected by malefics there will be some deviations in the mental frame. The 3rd house is strange, it signifies courage, but if afflicted by malefics can give the worst mentality/ actions. If the Moon is in the 3rd house analyse him properly. Moon in a bad place indicates a damaged mind and a strange sense of emotional expectations. The power of the internal conscience is also indicated by the Moon. He is also impulses and the reaction to impulses. Check the influences on the Moon.

The birth Moon chart. How do you know if someone is enjoying what he is doing? If someone enjoys being cruel, no amount of psychological counselling is going to help the situation. Look in to the houses counted 3rd, 6th, 8th  and 12th from the birth Moon, there should not be any malefic planets placed here. If these houses are occupied by Rahu, Saturn, Sun, Ketu, Mars then this person has typical mindset which will not stop at being cruel, aggressive and unfeeling of others. You cannot counsel this person to be kind. The mind is not kind, gentle, loving, caring etc, finer feelings are low. This does not necessarily mean that it is a criminal Mind, this is just one pattern. There should be some auspicious planet aspecting or in conjunction with the Moon, giving him emotional support. An isolated Moon or a Moon in inimical patterns is very vulnerable. It is very easy to incite such person into violence. (Or conversely he might be a victim of emotional abuse). He can hit out if emotionally under stress and he will feel justified in doing so. Jupiter with Moon is generally considered to be a blanket auspicious thing, but do check out if Jupiter is a functional malefic for that ascendant sign first.

Criminal tendencies from the horoscope

Mercury is the thought process, the analytical mind. If Mercury is influenced by malefics then there may be illogical thought processes which may indicate criminal thought patterns. Most commonly Mercury is seen with Sun as it is closest to it. We all need a healthy bit of self-obsession to carry on in life. Self-focus allows us to protect our self-interests and avoid being cheated by others. But excessive self-obsession can lead to other problems, where you do not consider the other’s view point at all. Eg if a Mercury is influenced by a spoilt Sun (my example in the Navamsha above) then such a person refuses to consider other’s view points and believes his own perceptions and mental processes to be always correct. A Mercury afflicted by other malefics can also indicate this tendency. He is combust and retrograde more often than the others planets which can indicate a different way of thinking etc.

Venus is generally not associated with criminal mindsets. But if he is influenced by malefics or debilitated or with a powerfully self-centred Sun then he will not grant enjoyable one-one partnerships. There will be no fairness, no pleasure and no equality in your marriage, business (or spiritual practice). If you consistently dominate and suppress your spouse, children, etc this is not a good thing for them. You will be perceived as an aggressor or an abuser by people who are close to you. However an auspicious aspect of Venus, where Venus himself is not affected by malefics can help the situation.

Criminals are known to be cruel and disconnected from finer emotions. They remain unmoved at the plight and pain of others. A person who again and again hurts an animal or a human who is clearly feeling/ expressing pain would be a ‘criminal’ mind-set. The victims do plead with the aggressor to stop but the still person continues his hurtful actions. This sort of nature would indicate Mars to be in his fully malefic role. Mars is both physical and psychological domination. His outgoing physical sign is Aries. And he dominates psychologically through his inward moving Scorpio sign. Scorpio especially can be quite strange. It is represented by the scorpion, who not only stings others but is said to sting its own self too. Mars if debilitated, in watery signs or in any way connected to Saturn or Rahu is a pattern which can predispose towards violence. (ie Saturn aspected by Mars, Mars in the same trikon as Rahu etc. Always look for patterns.)

Manglik combination is considered dangerous for this very reason. The passionate, vengeful, intense, drilling, fiery Martian energy needs to be directed away from the spouse/children, but this often does not happen in real life and the aggression rips into the family life causing turmoil. We cannot call this behaviour outrightly ‘criminal’ but if there are more patterns and the person starts enjoying his aggression then yes it will be a criminal mindset. (I know someone with a debilitated Mars in ascendant, 8th house Saturn, ie Saturn aspected by Mars. I have seen him tearing apart others auras with his energy/words! He knows what he is doing and does not feel bad about it)

Rahu is the North node of the Moon. He is the power of temptation, illusion, deception, desires, cheating, hiding, risk-taking, cruelty, rage, crimes, anti-social disruptive actions, immoral activities etc. He makes one unafraid of any type of repercussions, ie physical, emotional, spiritual. In your ‘suspect’ charts, analyse Rahu in depth. Any connection of Rahu with Mars needs to be examined. This person can literally be a ball of fire! But rage or deception by itself is not criminal, the other patterns should also exist where the person enjoys the act and also tends to repeat it again. If Rahu has some connection with Saturn then examine this too as this person can cleverly break the social, moral, etc boundaries.

Saturn is the planet of restrictions and lawful karmic action. But if such a Saturn is incapable of giving auspicious results he will make you immune to all reasonable controls on behaviour. This can be seen as actual violence, or you make others afraid of you, or you make them feel guilty and thus exploit them. You will derive strange satisfaction when you restrict others! This is a very typical nature of Saturn in his malefic form. If associated in any way with the 7th house he can suffocate all one-one relationships. The other person is driven away by the coldness and the forbidding nature of the Saturn. Saturn in Scorpio or in the 8th house or linked with Mars is not good.

Jupiter can help the situation if it is not too bad. But before putting too much reliance on Jupiter’s aspects check how much power does he have to give auspicious results. Is he a functional benefic or a functional malefic for that chart?

The lord of the 3rd house and the power of the 3rd house. This is a very important point that should be seen in detail. This is the way you choose to think and act. The 6th 8th and 12th house lords are functional malefics and can cause inauspicious results. Look into the power of these houses for more pointers. 6th is action, 8th is trauma and catastrophic changes and 12th is all hidden things including isolation and incarceration.

However if the Ascendant lord, the Sun and the Moon in the birth chart are free of malefic influences, are auspicious and capable of giving favourable results then even if there are evil tendencies indicated by other patterns, these generally will not expressed in real life. Strong and auspicious Kendra houses, 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th houses in the birth chart are also very important as they grant stability and the ability to review, reconsider and revaluate actions. Note the power of the sign occupying the first house of the Navamsha chart, the planets placed in it and its owner planet, if these are auspicious then the personality is further strengthened. (But if there are malefics in this 1st house in the Navamsha, the core of the personality is not very good)

So to say that someone is a criminal is not so easy. Intention and action both have to exist. Mind and Body both have to inflict the hurt on the other person, again and again. The aggressor’s Will is affected, the moral courage to take the right stand is missing, faulty logic exists, selfishness is paramount, desire to gain at any cost is strong, a wish to dominate over others exists, possible harm to others is irrelevant and there is the physical or psychological power and courage to commit such acts repeatedly. The victim can be anyone, girlfriend/ boyfriend, sister, brother, husband/ wife, parents, children, friends, pets, animals. And the abuse can be emotional or physical or in any other form.

Finally, the tendencies of the birth Moon chart and the Navamsha chart should percolate and be evident in the birth chart D-1. And the triggers will be, as always, the current Dasha/transits.

Transits and their power over you

I have seen so many people who scoff at the horoscopes. My own husband for some time after my marriage did not believe that the horoscopes could be this accurate! A Sun-dominated personality so cannot believe the horoscope can completely over-ride free will (typical nature of strong Suns!). You too will get such family members or friends who completely diss astrology or superficially say that they believe in it.

Always remember that your horoscope shows the choice of your birth. You chose the horoscope patterns. The way your current incarnation works ie your current body and mind is described by the horoscope. Not your soul, your soul is the Parabrahma, the Advaita itself, it is undefinable, unalterable. But your this current incarnation, the body/ mind created to go through karma and its repercussions is exactly as per the horoscope. If you tell me that you have such typical nature or you are going through such a situation at present or if you felt some typical emotion when you were a child, I can point out the exact combination in your horoscope which indicates this. We are all quite predictable and the horoscope does this by examining your own energy. Your body/mind and actions are clearly seen in your horoscope, it is undeniable. And if the horoscope shows some patterns for the future that too will happen. The reason is very simple, you yourself chose this at your own birth. You exercised your will at the point of birth, there are some options for course correction during the life, but the choice of birth has to be by and large honoured.

Transits are very important. These give the timing of the events indicated in the birth horoscope. An example, at this current moment, 29th Feb-2020, Mercury is combust and retrograde. You will be seeing juvenile arguments, pointless misunderstandings, faulty analytical processes all on an over-drive. And because he is combust too, there is a very high component of self-ego, selfishness, inability to see the other’s view point, the Sun has taken over the power of Mercury. They were exactly conjunct on 26th Feb, 2020, so a couple of days around this date would have been exceptionally ‘misunderstood’. People with a powerful Sun in their birth charts will seem even more domineering to others. (one person I know has an exalted Sun, 10th house, the strongest graha in his chart. Met him at a social function yesterday, his behaviour! but astrology can explain everything). On the other hand if your Sun is weak in your birth chart, then this period can be difficult on you, as you are more on the receiving end and nobody bothers to listen to your point of view. Mercury is combust and retrograde remember, its a double whammy. Then as usual, Mercury’s own guys, people with Virgo or Gemini especially as their Moon sign will be emotionally disturbed themselves and create mental disturbance to the others around them. It is unavoidable. Even if you know that this will happen the only option is to endure through. You can take measures to reduce the intensity or do something to recover faster but no remedy can completely avoid the unpleasant events.

Another interesting thing occurred 2 days ago, I was busy else would have written more about it. Sun was exactly conjunct Mercury in Aquarius and Mars in transit was exactly over Ketu in transit in Sagittarius. These Mars-Ketu conjunctions in transit have the potential to permanently sever connections both on the objective and subjective levels. Jupiter is with Mars/Ketu in Sagittarius, so he has lent his expansive energy to their fiery cut. This can indicate a highly karmic event and cause attendant severe trauma. I had written about the natures of Mars and Ketu in an earlier post. Ketu is said to be like Mars but he works on the subjective and astral planes and Mars on the objective and physical. Open your birth chart and see where house Sagittarius occupies from the ascendant sign.

  • Eg you are Libra ascendant, Sagittarius would be in the 3rd house. Go back 2-3 days and think back on the interactions with your siblings, brothers, neighbours, team-mates, co-workers etc. There would have been at least one really intense fight/argument which would have the potential to snap ties forever. You might continue loving your sibling but you cannot endure his/her company anymore!
  • Eg if you are Pisces ascendant, Sagittarius would be your 10th house, so one really intense event in the workplace or with the father etc, keywords of the 10th house, would have occurred 2-3 days ago. A good astrologer should always be aware of the current transits.

Transits and their power over you

In addition, the background energy of the biggest event, Saturn in Capricorn after 30yrs. I have repeatedly written in my several posts that this 5yrs transit of Saturn in Capricorn/ Aquarius is very critical especially for Cancer/ Leo ascendants. Aries, Libra and Capricorn ascendants too can expect karmic events unfolding. The tip here is to focus on just 1-2 high potential activities, not spread out your energies haphazardly. eg If you have one sure-shot business deal, focus on this with all your intensity, do not go chasing after possibilities. Saturn always prefers sure-shot pragmatic ventures rather than romantic possibilities. And work, work hard.

  • Cancer ascendants must have already started seeing the effect of Saturn transiting their 7th house, as one-one relationships start constricting, your life-time loves, spiritual practice, business deals show the strain. Cancer ascendants are possibly going through a very intense period where they need to make every move sensibly. Whatever you do now will be converted to karma, so be very careful (7th house’s hidden dangers). Behave sensibly, do not hurt, cheat, abuse others with whom you have one-one connects. Do your spiritual practice with serious discipline, it is a subject of the 7th house.
  • For Leo ascendants Capricorn is the 6th house, so you will be forced to work, karmic demands for work will consume all your time. You will not be able to rest, or spend time with your children/spouse. Your business partnerships may suffer as you are unable to give personal attention. All your one-one relationships will literally vanish, as you are going to work and only work. Do Soham jaap consciously as you travel or have a few minutes free in your day. This will help you regain your internal energy.

Now we know that Saturn is in Capricorn for quite some time so we should analyse the transits of the faster planets with respect to his position too.

  • Sun and Mercury are in Aquarius owned by Saturn. And Mercury combust and retrograde. This is the second sign counted from Capricorn. And Capricorn is twelfth counted from Aquarius. So events triggered by the energies of Sun+Mercury have Saturn’s energy as an undercurrent. Family times, family connections, dreams, sleep and the rest of the keywords of the second and twelfth houses are interlinked here. See for yourself how this has translated in your own chart.
  • The current Mars/Ketu are doing their thing in Sagittarius, it is counted twelfth from the Saturn in transit. So their dissociative energies are capable of cleanly slicing off whatever Capricorn sign stands for in your life. Check it out.
  • Mars will enter Capricorn in March to be with Saturn. He will be exalted here. So you will want to take risks with the Capricorn stuff in your life. Saturn does not like risks whatsoever. So internal conflicts can disturb you. If you have Saturn-Mars aspecting or in conjunction in your birth horoscope, be careful while Mars transits Capricorn. Accidents, heat-related issues can occur. If you are a Manglik, avoid risky behaviour. This is important, do not pick fights or hurt others by your aggression.
  • And then 31st Mar, Jupiter enters Capricorn and on the same day Saturn and Mars are exactly conjunct. Keep a look-out on what happens around this date.
  • Kaal-sarpa keeps popping in and out, partial for 15days and then full for 15days alternating till June, adding its own energy to the mix.

All this was a very generic discussion on how the horoscopes work. The individual results will depend on your personal horoscopes. So if you want to analyse transits first sit down when you have time, it is going to take one hour. Open your birth horoscope for the physical stuff. Open your birth Moon horoscope for the emotional stuff. Draw these two charts on a paper, analyse them a bit again. Open your software and the current transits, see how the planets are interacting with each other in the present moment in the skies. Now use a different colored pen and write the current transits on your birth and Moon charts. Now use your knowledge of the planets basic natures, their ways of working, their aspects etc. Try to see patterns being created between the birth positions and the current positions. Try to tally with what is going on a your life. It takes some practice but it is worth it because it helps make sense of what is happening to you. If good events are around then enjoy yourself. If adverse events surround you, know that they are there for a short while, as the transits change, eventually the situation will also change. This gives the mind courage to face up to what is happening. Mind needs hope to support it and Jyotish with its Light, gives just this Hope.

Matching Charts for marriage

Families go to astrologers for matching charts of their children before getting them married. It is very important to match the charts before marriage rather than facing problems later. Even if the young man and woman are in ‘love‘ and do not want to base their decision on the charts, it is important that they go to an astrologer and at least hear to what the charts are saying. They can consider it as additional information to base their decision on. In Sanskrit, Sanatan Dharma (Hinduism) and Vedic philosophy there is no word for ‘divorce’.

Matching Charts for marriage

You will get the charts only after the families have matched their gotra, social and financial conditions. So this is how you go about matching them. Each of these points are to be seen individually for each person. Also because marriage links the persons very deeply their charts also influence each other, so these factors are also to be seen as overlaid one chart over the other.

Longevity and physical health – this is perhaps the most important parameter which has to be gauged at the start itself. The life span of both should be reasonably beyond 50yrs at least. If either of the prospective partners have indications of premature death the matching should always be rejected. Early death is always traumatic and results in great pain and unhappiness to the surviving partner and also to the children if any. You are not required to calculate the exact life expectancy of the charts, but it should reasonably cross about 50yrs of age, as most activities related to the householder’s life are complete by this age.

For the individual readings check out the following.

  • Longevity will depend on the Ascendant sign, the planets placed in the ascendant sign, the position and placement of the ascendant lord and the planets conjoint and aspecting him.
  • Also the 8th house and its lord should be similarly examined for longevity.
  • The 6th house and its lord will give indications on the possibility of physical diseases so give them a once-over.
  • And the 12th house and its lord represent the loss of the manifested, physical and visible attributes so in a way linked to health. So a quick look on this house too.

For a combined effect of one over the other check out this one important house.

  • The placement of the 7th house, the planets present and aspecting.
  • The placement of the 7th lord and the planets who are conjunct/aspecting him.
  • eg. a 7th lord placed in the 12th will indicate that the person who marries this chart will have to suffer the diseases that are in the karma of this chart’s partner, in addition to his own placements.

Matching Charts for marriage

Mental and emotional health – This is very important that both partners enjoy emotional and intellectual company with each other and also that the mind and the emotions of both remain comfortable and secure. Else it is quite possible that one person ruins the happiness of the marital home with his/her faulty mental processes. For this you will need to analyse these 2 planets.

  • Moon – This is not only the agent of the mind and emotional stability but also if afflicted can reduce the longevity of the person. Outwardly normal seeming persons can suddenly change overnight into nut-cases fit for the psychiatrists.
    • Check out in the individual horoscopes the birth moon sign
    • The house that this moon get placed into
    • The planets is is conjoint or aspecting him
    • And to check out how this person will interact emotionally with his spouse? Will he derive satisfaction/emotional security/comfort etc from his spouse? Check out the 7th house from his birth moon.
  • Mercury – He represents the mental processes, what kind of conclusions (negative/positive) do you draw from the life-events you go through. Also the ability to communicate clearly, thus there are no doubts, misunderstandings, miscommunications and suspicions between the couple.
    • Check out in the individual horoscopes the birth mercury, the sign he is placed in
    • The house that this mercury gets placed into
    • Which planets are conjoint or aspecting him
    • And to check out how this person will interact on the intellectual level with his spouse, will their thinking processes match, do check out the 7th house from his birth mercury.

Matching Charts for marriage

Possibility of multiple spouses – Since this is a marriage between 2 individuals and our society and legal systems by and large allow one spouse only, it is important to check out if there is a possibility of multiple spouses in either of the charts.

Benefic and malefic influences in the overall horoscope – Look at the overall placements in the horoscope, especially strengths of the ‘good houses’ 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 11th, the placements of benefics and the malefics. The dushamsthana 6th, 8th, 12th houses of turmoil should be vacant or not have benefic planets as far as possible. (a short explanation in this post)

The position of Mars has become quite the deciding factor in marriage matching. If someone is labelled ‘Manglik‘ then his/her marriage prospects suffer drastically. But if the above points are found to be satisfactory then this becomes more of a psychological issue about channelising the energies of Mars and with proper counselling and understanding is quite manageable.

And then we come to the last factor, the Ashtakoot matching – Here we give complete importance to the birth Moon nakshatra of the two. There are 8/Ashta groups/koot in this matching. There are a maximum of 36points and 18+ points is generally considered ok. There are several websites which can give you your score directly but have put the theory here so that you can appreciate the thought process behind this matching.

  1. Varna (1 point) – is the outward appearance/quality/strength, thinking ability and work and spiritual development.
  2. Vashya (2 points) – this indicates the interdependence between the two and whether the two will listen to each other’s opinions, i.e. the degree to which both will influence each other.
  3. Tara (3 points) – Mutual understanding, sensibility and destiny between the two is indicated from this.
  4. Yoni (4 points) –  Mutual sexual and physical compatibility between the two is given importance.
  5. Grahamaitri (5 points) – the rulers of the birth Moon sign are considered here. If both are friends, enemies or neutral to each other. The mental compatibility, mutual interests and desires, also the genuine friendship and affection that develops between the two can be analysed from here.
  6. Gana (6 points) – The 27 nakshatras are divided into 3 categories depending on their essential natures, peaceful-spiritual, materialistic-fair and aggressive-demanding. The match has to consider these essential natures else there will be discord. This indicates temperament and the emotional response to a situation (also potential for violence).
  7. Rashi Bhakoot (7 points) – The moon sign of the boy is counted from the girl’s moon rashi. This defines the daily behaviour between the two, is their daily life with each other going to be peaceful or tense.
  8. Nadi (8 points) – The 27 nakshatras are again divided into 3 categories (Vaat, Pitta, Sleshma) depending on their physical health. The Nadi koot has been given the maximum points in this system because the health of the couple after they get married and the health of the children they will have depends on this. If their Nakshatras belong to different Nadis the score is outrightly 8, if belonging to the same Nadi it becomes 0.

Of course in the present times, ‘arranged marriages’ are being phased out slowly, even ‘love marriages’ are on the way out perhaps. Live-in relationships or flings are more fashionable now. But do remember that Marraige/Vivah is a Sanskar, not just a religious/legal/social ceremony. It is the foundation of our society as it provides care and protection to small children, to the aged parents and is the thread which binds us all in relationships, mom, dad, child, brother, sister, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, grandmom, grandad and the in-laws. Our lives are more richer because of these relationships of mutual love and all these are based on the foundation of marriage/vivah.

Matching Charts for marriage

So you are a Manglik?

I have seen so many young men and women traumatized by the bogey of this “Mangal dosha” so I had to put this post. If your Mars at birth is the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th and 12th houses counted from your ascendent or even your birth lunar horoscope the “astrologer next door” will declare you to be Manglik.  And once labeled, getting a good arranged match will be so utterly difficult. So just see this, in your horoscope, birth Mars in 5 out of 12 houses is considered Manglik and if you escape this then the astrologers will count these 5 houses from your birth moon sign also. If still your Mars is clear he may even open your 9th divisional chart/ navamsha chart to further check. So now everyone will turn out to be a Manglik!

So you are a Manglik?

At the outset, the Manglik tag for a woman is more severe than for a man. For a man, Mangal Dosha is not really a dosha. It in fact is an advantage if you can direct the energies. But there are some important things which must be highlighted. If you are such a “Manglik” man remember,

  1. You are a highly masculine man, and your energies of high competitiveness, vitality and drive should be directed away from your marriage and house. Go to the gym, train for marathons, learn physical contact games, football, boxing/karate etc. On your spare evenings go driving or any other physical activity to take the edge off your aggression. Create opportunities in your life outside the house where you can be aggressive and channelize your competitive spirit responsibly not rashly.
  2. Take vacations like trekking and camping outdoorsy vigorous things.
  3. Marry a feminine woman. You wont think of her as a competitor rather you will want to protect her. Preferably one who is a homemaker, likes dressing up and girly things and would prefer having lots children and take care of them too. Give her total freedom in the house and let her be creative about it. Let her make your house beautiful and harmonious. The house is her domain, do not compete with her here.
  4. Or if you marry the same Manglik type of woman then both of you should remember that you are not competitors against each other, but are a united One against everyone else. Your aggressive energies will at least be directed outside your home and your marriage.
  5. You cannot take out your aggression on your wife/children or family members.
  6. Avoid alcohol. Substitute for lemon sodas and grape juice but avoid alcohol and other addictions.
  7. Take up some spiritual practice or meditative exercise for just 5 mins a day.

Mars, the Red Planet, is the Expression of your Ego. How you express your internal energies, your boldness, dynamism, competitiveness, vitality is the domain of Mars. He grants us the energy, independence, will and self-confidence to carry out our endeavours. He is the active brave warrior who can be noble and dynamic but also rash and ruthless. A low Mars energy will mean a droopy frail person with little energy, no real interest, passion or motivation. If unchecked, a wild Mars can lead to accidents, aggression, domination, violence, injury, unnecessary risky behaviour and untimely death. As too much or too less of anything causes problems, similarly too much or too little Mars energy will be a problem. A correct balance of Mars is quite rare. Mars does not share, he competes and wins. In a partnership his ideal partner is Venus whose karmic responsibility is to teach him to harmony, beauty and to share fairly. I have written a post on the deep motivations and inner psychology of Mars and the signs he rules, Aries and Scorpio here.

Mars influences 4 aspects of your life, 4 houses of the horosope directly. The house he is in, the house 4th from it, the house 7th from it and the house 8th from it. Eg, If your Mars is in Aries, it will influence Aries, Cancer, Libra and Scorpio directly.

Mars is exalted in Capricorn. Saturn teaches Mars discipline and restricts his energies to just the what is required and useable. He also provides him a goal of working for the general welfare and society. And Mars is debilitated in Cancer. Moon drowns the vitality and fire of Mars in dreaminess, vagueness, emotions and confusion.

The traditional mind-set in India is still that the bride must not be aggressive, not work professionally, stay at home, not break up the house etc. A manglik woman finds it more difficult in the marriage arena rather than a manglik man. But in today’s life the man himself wants a wife who works outside and the houses are so small that the parents themselves buy a separate flat for their son after his marriage. So while checking out the horoscope matching do keep the realities of today’s lifestyle in perspective.

So you are a Manglik?

If you are such a Manglik woman remember the following.

  1. Work professionally in a regular job, or start a home business or try to find a job where some physical activity is indicated. Or a job like a lawyer maybe where you can be aggressive. You need to find a channel for your aggression. Go to a gym if you have the time.
  2. Take vacations like trekking and camping outdoorsy vigorous things.
  3. Try to get on with your father/mother or mother/father-in-law. Request them to live near you, maybe a flat in the same building and help look after the children. This is something you have to do, no options.
  4. In India at least your marriage options will be limited to similar Manglik men. Then both of you should remember that you are not competitors against each other, but are a united One against everyone else. Your aggressive energies will at least be directed outside your home and your marriage.
  5. Do not take your aggression out on your family members, husband and children.
  6. Take up some spiritual practice or meditative exercise for just 5 mins a day.

Lets briefly see how Mars’s Mangal dosha in the 5 houses will perform in real life. These descriptions are the extreme cases, the aspects of benefic planets will make it better and the aspects of malefic planets will make it worse. So if you or your prospective partner has such combinations take remedial action.

1st house/Ascendent – Mars will influence, 1st, 4th, 7th and 8th houses. Mars is the natural owner of the first house as his rashi Mesha is the natural 1st sign. If Mars himself occupies the first house, you are highly active, energetic, super-competitive individual and your anger is of a typical animal nature. You must always be on the move and need targets to achieve, cant sit still. You might expect friction and competition with your maternal relatives, mother, concerning landed properties, partnerships, wife/husband and occasional accidents.

4th house – Mars will influence 4th, 7th, 10th, 11th houses. You might expect friction and competition with your maternal relatives, mother, father, profession, concerning landed properties, partnerships, wife/husband, in social situations and sources of income. Mars aspects the 10th house, thus you might be better off directing your energies in your career.

7th house – Mars will influence the 7th, 10th, 1st, and 2nd houses. You might expect friction and competition with your partnerships, husband/wife, father, profession, family assets, lineage, concerning personal ego and role in society. Mars aspects the 10th house, thus you might be better off directing your energies in your career.

8th house – Mars influences the 8th, 11th, 2nd and 3rd houses. Mars is the natural owner of the 8th house. His scorpio is the natural 8th rashi. If in the 8th house himself, he may be an agent of major surgery, deep therapeutic healing, emergence from catastrophic change, tantrik magic, accidents and death too. You might expect friction and competition in social situations, networks, sources of income, family assets, lineage, extended family, brothers/cousins, neighbours. Reproductive organs may be weak or the diseases you may suffer will have hidden beginnings and then suddenly flare up.

12th house – He will influence 12th, 3rd, 6th and 7th houses. His energies will be directed to the subconscious, astral, spirit worlds. Essentially drowned fire. May manifest as over-stimulation of imagination, disturbance to emotions and intuition and even insanity in presence of malefic aspects. You might expect friction and competition in family assets, lineage, extended family, brothers/cousins, neighbours, your partnerships, husband/wife, may suffer from poisoning type of diseases eg food poisoning, septicemia. Overly anxious personality may develop and express as verbal criticism and resentment.

And most importantly do not marry unless you have matched the horoscope properly. Matching horoscopes is a rather longish process (post here). If you marry someone with matching energies both of you will live a happier life together. Manglik is considered a serious impediment to marriage, so I have seen people hiding their charts or giving wrong birth data to the prospective match. This is sheer cheating and is bad karma.

And at the last the remedy,  to keep your Mars energies positive, every Tuesday morning, light a small copper lamp with sesame oil and cotton wick with this mantra, “Om kraang kreeng kraung sah mangalaya namah, om”, repeat it once, thrice or 108 times as you wish. Request for help from your Mars and intend that you will live a happy healthy life with your wife/husband, children and family.
