Analysing harsh combinations in Navamsha

I have written a few posts on planetary combinations which cause turmoil in life. If two planets interact in the horoscope, they enhance each other’s similar qualities and create harshness where they differ from each other. Some of these typical combinations are,

If you have these combinations in your birth chart then you will clearly see these results on the material plane in your physical life and the environment around you. You can easily identify the problem, so can also act to resolve it. But if you get these uncomfortable combinations in your D9 chart, ie the Navamsha chart then you may remain unaware of the situation which will continue as you generally are unaware of the subtle things of the Navamsha chart.

The Navamsha D9 chart is considered to be the expansion of the 9th house, ie your foundations in all ways. It is where you analyse your potential, your expectations and your ability to feel satisfied about something in life. If something is uncomfortable here then it subtly affects your life in every way. The Navamsha chart is next in importance to the birth chart. you draw from its potential energy to actualise your material life. There are three ways to analyse the Navamsha (post here). The third way listed here is the Navamsha tulya Rashi, ie the navamsha chart is interpreted in the same way as the birth chart.

So open your birth and navamsha chart together.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

1. If you have a harsh planetary combination conjoint in your birth chart and this conjunction repeats in your Navamsha chart.

This means that the energy springs from deep within the psyche, strongly pervades into your material life and exponentially increases the effect of the combination. You will express its full energy and also feel internally comfortable when you do so. Rectifying these negative traits will not be easy as you do not feel them to be negative as per your perception.

Analyse the two signs and the Nakshatra pad/quarter involved to get more information.

Eg Suppose you have your Jupiter at 7deg Leo and Rahu at 8deg Leo. Both are in the Magha nakshatra 3rd quarter. It is a very close Guru Chandal yog in the birth chart. In the Navamsha chart too, both are allocated to the same Gemini Navamsha. The Guru Chandal is present in both the potential D9 and the manifested D1. The environment of Gemini will be in the background and will be expressed though the lens of Leo. ie you will be very logical, intelligent, able to think quickly through options, choose the right one and act very boldly and confidently. You can get more information when you add the qualities of Magha 3rd pad, ie highly individualistic, capable, fiery, ambitious, rebellious, intelligent, always wanting to learn new things etc to your analysis. But the typical nature of the Guru chandal will exist, the foundation of the personality is linked to its energy and at some point of time you will betray those people who have supported you and also feel satisfied about this act of yours.

Navamsha analysis for beginners

2. The planets are not together in the birth chart but are allocated to Navamshas ruled by the same sign.

Eg suppose you have your Saturn at 8deg Cancer and Mars at 28deg Taurus. As per the navamsha allocation table above, both are located in a navamsha ruled by Virgo. Suppose Virgo sign falls in the 4th house of your Navamsha chart. So you will analyse the effect of the Saturn Mars conjunction in Virgo sign and 4th house as per this post. These two together will have their typical combined effect on the keywords of the 4th and the opposite 10th house, creating an undercurrent of frustration and dissatisfaction. You will not be able to create or stick to schedules. You will have several genius level ideas, but you will not be able to structure them in a practical manner. Strangely this will not cause you much stress as you have so very many ideas that just thinking about them or briefly following them satisfies you. You will not be acknowledged for any specific thing but will be respected as a useful and powerful person to have around. The underlying energy of the personality in the home and office will be Saturn + Mars. Even if the 4th and 10th houses in the birth chart are exceptionally powerful, aspected by benefics etc, still this background Navamsha energy will affect these parts of your personality till you finally become aware of your inner discomfort and take active steps to address it. The trigger dasha when you will understand this, will be a combination of Saturn Mars and Mercury. And the trigger transit will be most likely a Mars or Saturn transit in Virgo. After this realization you might be able to take corrective action if the rest of the chart allows this.

3. The planets are not conjunct in the birth chart but are aspecting in the Navamsha chart.

Eg You have your Saturn in 5deg Aquarius, allotted to Scorpio navamsha. Your Moon is in 23deg Virgo allocated to Leo navamsha. So Saturn will aspect Moon with his 10th aspect in the Navamsha chart. (I wrote a post here on Saturn and Moon.) This position means that the mother, people from your maternal side etc 4th house things will subconsciously be a source of betrayal, you will feel emotionally disconnected from your traditions, feel anxious if you are required to look after your home, landed property or even drive a car. These are subconscious expectations so even if your birth chart’s Moon is strong etc these Navamsha influences will always be at the back of your mind creating discomfort.

4. The harsh combination present in the the birth chart does not exist in the navamsha chart.

Eg suppose you have your Mars aspecting Saturn in the birth chart but there is no connection between the two in the D9. This means that the uncomfortable energy very much exists in your material life, you will feel all the frustrations that this will give in the life that you are living. But on the inner levels you will perceive differently,

  • If the D9 offers a better position for both of them eg Saturn moves to a Capricorn navamsha and Mars to an Aries navamsha then both are separated in the D9. Each is in its own sign’s Navamsha so more comfortable and potentially capable of better results. If you are aware of their more balanced potential from the D9, you can actively use their energies from here to reduce your stress in the physical life.
  • But pay attention if the same harshness repeats in the D9 but in a different ‘flavour’. Eg if Saturn is allocated to Scorpio navamsha. Here Mars will continue to subtly affect the potential power of Saturn in your life from your D9 too, giving you no respite.

Let’s take a look at our standard example chart, Aleister Crowley, 12th Oct 1875, 11: 42pm, Leamington Spa, Britain. A reasonably accurately recorded life, happening events and dead, so a good case study.

Birth chart Aleister Crowley

Navamsha Aleister Crowley
Navamsha Aleister Crowley

This birth chart has several harsh combinations. If you analyse this person, his material life had several typical characteristics of these dissonant combinations.

  • Venus Jupiter are within 15deg, influencing 4th 10th.
  • Rahu Moon conjunct but just about 15deg apart, both influence the 9th house.
  • Mars Saturn are not typically conjunct but both influence 7th and 1st house.

In the Navamsha chart, it is incredible that all these 3 typical pairs, Venus – Jupiter, Mars – Saturn, Moon – Rahu get positioned in the 5/9 axis. ie In the mutually cooperative 5/9 axis of genius and creativity feeding each other as an evolving energy spiral. Planets in the 5/9 axis are very comfortable as each uses the power of the other in his own way to give his typical gains. These navamsha positions have removed much of the negativity of these combinations of the birth chart. On the inner levels, Crowley was not very concerned with the havoc these planets were playing in his material life, he was evolving with their support on the inside. However Rahu Moon continue in the Shakti yog in the navamsha too, affecting its Dharma trikon, so he was quite satisfied with his actions of attacking the dogma of the religion that he was born in and in developing the Thoth tarot etc.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

Other Divisional Charts. The Navamsha chart is critical, do analyse it for all questions that you get, just ensure that you have the correct birth time. The other divisional charts are used depending on the question that you ask. The logic of analysing these harsh combinations will remain the same in the divisional charts too.

  • Eg if you have been asked a question on professional success, you will open the D10. If you see a Mars Saturn combination in the 1st house of this divisional chart, Dashamsha, then you cannot predict a very successful professional life for this person. If you can, counsel him about the effects of this combination and if he addresses the issue he may improve to some extent.

Finally, I often get this question often on how to find out if the remedies will work or not? Here are a few tips for you to evaluate this.

  1. Prashna – if the client has come to you at an auspicious time then the remedies you prescribe will work well. Use Prashna techniques liberally at every reading, even if your client does not ask you a specific ‘Prashna’ in the astrological sense of this word. This means to always be aware of the current position of the planets in the skies, the current ascendant sign etc. To note the movement of your own nadi, ie Ida, Pingala and Sushumna, your own state of mind is connected to this. And finally to remain aware of the surroundings ie Shakun /omens, all this will help you give more accurate predictions.
  2. The client’s Dharma trikon – it has to be strong in the birth chart or at least in transit when he has come to consult you. Especially his 9th house has to be strong.
  3. Your own Dharma trikon – A person becomes an astrologer or has the ability to divine only if he has a strong Dharma trikon, especially the 5th house has to have power. You can analyse this for yourself, whenever your 5th house gets strength in transit your readings will be more accurate.
  4. The D 60 of the client is used to get a summary of the planet in life. The Shashtyamsha is the final say on the auspiciousness of the planet. If you have the precisely accurate birth time, then you can check the D60, you will need to do a seconds level birth time rectification for this. Any remedy done for a planet auspicious in the D 60 will 100% work. For the other planets placed in the malefic/ inauspicious Shashtyamsha, you will have to predict average results even after doing the remedies. But as remedies reduce the intensity of the negativity, it is always advisable to do them, ie do Daan and Mantra as per Rishi Parashar.

(I was getting too many questions of this sort, so use this post to analyse your birth and navamsha chart for yourself.)

Saturn and Mars conjunct or aspecting

Saturn and Mars are both naturally kroor graha, ie they will always give their results in their characteristic harsh, unfeeling, cruel, turbulent etc fashion. However their results are not always as horrible as it is made out. Saturn is auspicious for the ascendant signs, Taurus, Libra, Capricorn and Aquarius. Mars is auspicious for the ascendant signs Aries, Cancer, Leo and Scorpio. Also if you have your birth Moon is any of these signs even then Saturn/Mars will support on the emotional levels. So for a small percentage of the population Saturn and Mars individually are generally auspicious. It is when they are functional malefics for your ascendant sign that they can really cause problems. And when they get together in some way then the results that they give are turbulent as they spoil the significations of the house sign involved.

Saturn is restriction, constriction, stress, fear, deprivation etc. Practical, systematic, patient, solid, realistic. He does not take any action unless he has thoroughly thought it over and come to a conclusion that this is the right way. Hierarchy, structure, organisation, discipline, long term planning, rules, schedules, hard work, slow movement etc are his keywords. He is mature, pragmatic, a dull personality, burdened by the karmic load he has to work through. He is linked to the lowest, most grounded Muladhar chakra. He is aware of the implications, especially the karmic repercussions, of every action taken. Saturn is the material frame of your body, the skeleton. The solidest part of your body, the bones are linked to Saturn. He hits you with his precisely timed karmic bombs until you learn his lessons. And then he gives you his gains, all profits from the hard work that you have done till then are given to you in full. He is a more spread out sort of energy which maintains structures and resists change.

Mars is a warrior on the war path. He wants to challenge, compete, attack, invade, rage, fight and conquer. He is anger, sexual desire, passion, the urge to live, the drive within you. He is the vital structure of your body, Nadi and also the vital energy, Pran powering it. Mars is the fastest and lightest part of your astral self. He is located at the fiery Manipur chakra. He is also the muscle and the blood, the fast moving and reactive elements of your physical body. He wants to take advantage of every weakness, every opportunity, every chance without much thought to the consequences. Mars is the Will, the impulsive blast of focussed power. He is the the energy of birth and death, catastrophic transformation of the entire identity. He does not allow something to sustain for long as he desires and initiates change.

So it is obvious that both have diametrically opposite natures with no evident common ground, which is the cause of conflict. If two planets are together they enhance their common qualities and generate tension where they are of dissimilar views.

For eg, Jupiter and Venus together or aspecting, (post here). Both are uncomfortable together, give dissatisfying results, but ultimately both are Gurus. This is the common ground where they can cooperate. If you can understand this then you can make better use of their synergy. Eg if you can take up some activity related to philosophy or spiritual practice etc the Gurus will be satisfied and help, albeit in their diametrically opposite ways. But help they will as the final goal is acceptable to both.

So if you have Mars and Saturn together in your chart, you have to find a common acceptable goal that satisfies both their energies.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

Saturn and Mars can influence each other basically in two ways.

Scenario 1 – If both are together in the same house, ie conjunct or both are opposite each other, ie they mutually aspect via the 7th aspect. Its an uncomfortable situation, sort of a mutually assured destruction if they do not cooperate. If they cooperate then it can give good results.

Scenario 2 – If Saturn aspects Mars via his extra 3rd 10th aspect or if Mars aspects Saturn via his extra 4th 8th aspects. These extra aspects are more intense than the regular 7th aspect. Here only one of them has an effect on the other, it is not a mutual influence.  The recipient has no option to bear and endure under this aspect. This, in my opinion, is more disturbing in life than the scenario 1 above. The recipient planet will be irritated, frustrated and unable to perform. If you have charts with this combination do analyse carefully.

  • If Saturn is aspecting Mars like this then all that your Mars signifies will initially seem very promising but not work out as Saturn will not allow Mars to work freely. The keywords of the house that Mars is in, the houses that he owns and aspects. The overall functioning of Mars in your life will be affected, ie taking the right decision will be difficult, you will not have the right confidence, will feel insecure if you are to show off your passion, feel scared if you have to take an initiative. You will just keep on planning and planning waiting for the right time which will never come. You might get scared to be intimate with your spouse. Relationships with the siblings will be affected.
  • And the other way round, if Mars aspects Saturn, you will not be allowed to systematically go through the activities of that house as Mars will force his impatience on Saturn. Houses owned and aspected by Saturn will also suffer to some extent. You will never be able to plan things well, you might make schedules but Mars will force you to put them into action before you are ready. Premature actions and unwonted aggression will damage the things that Saturn stands for in your life.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

Scenario 1 – In this case, they mutually influence each other. The extent of influence will depend on their individual power, Shadbala, Vimshopak bala, Ashtakvarga scores, etc techniques of astrology. The stronger one will naturally exert more influence over the other.

Mars will try to push ahead regardless of everything and Saturn will caution, demand that you plan first. Its just like you press the accelerator full on and then immediately stamp on the brakes. Or the other way round, you have the brake on and still you push the accelerator to the floor. This is going to damage the car and cause an accident. Similarly the keywords of the connected sign/ house suffer from indecisiveness, confusion, internally divided mindset, delayed or denied results etc. This inability to use the energy properly will spill over to the overall personality causing several issues, from behaviour to health. But here they both are mutually aspecting, thus there is still some scope of working with them and coming to an mutually acceptable understanding. The common ground is the signs and houses they are in and mutually aspecting.

eg. Suppose they are together in the 10th house.

If only one of them was here then it would have been an excellent placement. But you are now required to live your professional life with these opposing energies together. Mars will want you to jump into every opportunity with full force, commit your 100% energy immediately. Saturn will want you to plan, schedule, take permissions, think on the long term. You are required to blend these energies in a sensible manner. If you have a strong ascendant sign/ lord and birth Moon then this will be easier. You can use the following pointers to find out the best way to use them together.

  • Analyse the strengths of Saturn and Mars in the birth horoscope. Of these whichever is stronger, reinforce his qualities. But also remain conscious of the other one. If Mars is stronger you will be inclined to immediately jump into new projects. So train your mind to wait for a day, so that you can think over before commit yourself. If Saturn is stronger then you will want to wait, but Mars will chafe if you keep delaying. So the strategy is the same, give yourself reasonable time frame, eg a day to think over but then do take a decision.
  • Check the current transits. If in transit one of the two is more powerful than the other, then use his energy as the predominant one in your work life.
  • Behavioural changes are always a good solution. Eg you can go to the gym with your office mates. Play some games with them, this can be as simple as cross and noughts. You have to find some activities where you can combine the keywords of the 10th house, Mars and Saturn in a way which makes sense to you.
  • Note the houses owned by them and try to use their energies from there. Suppose Mars rules your 8th and is in the 10th then try to involve yourself in your in laws’ social activities. Or if your Saturn owns 6th and is the 10th then always take the side of your subordinates and lower staff, or involve yourself in some welfare programmes for them. This will satisfy the planets, ie their energies are being given an outlet so they will interfere less in each other’s way of working. And you will also feel more adjusted.
  • Further analyse their extra aspects, in our example Saturn will aspect the 12th 7th house and Mars will aspect the 1st 5th houses. Pay attention to these houses and their keywords, there is a higher possibility of causing real damage here, these parts of your life are aspected by a very uncomfortable planet.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

Similarly you can work out the energy dynamics of the mutually opposing Saturn and Mars. The thing with the 7th house from anywhere is that it drains the energy of that house in a mysterious way.

eg Suppose you have Mars in the 4th and Saturn in the 10th.

  • Here the Mars related things will cause a drain on the 10th house activities. And Saturn will drain the 4th house energies.
  • If you act in a way which expresses the Mars in your 4th house, ie take up a cause for your mother this will cause a problem for your profession in some way by increasing your aggression in the office.
  • Or the other way round, if you get very systematic in the office or get very focussed on your social image this will affect your initiative, passion, drive etc with regards to your home, landed property, vehicle, mother etc.
  • Again the solution is to think and find a balance between these two opposing planets.

Saturn and Mars are both intense forces. Both are focussed, tenacious, won’t let go of their target once they are fixed on them. While using their combined energy, always keep your final purpose in mind. Think of them as your staff who are helping you attain a goal. Eg in our example, both in the 10th house, suppose you are trying for a promotion. Use the energy of Saturn to plan out your strategy, to write your proposal, systemically lay out your achievements, get your subordinates to create a positive undercurrent, etc. And then use the energy of Mars when you go to meet your boss, display your confidence, energy and passion. Use Mars to highlight the work that Saturn has done. Or use Mars to power the plans that Saturn has laid out. In short, keep your Mind very clear on your purpose. Remember that your Mind is the boss of both Mars and Saturn. Use them to fix problems in whichever house they are in, ie use Saturn to systematically analyse and find the problem. Later use Mars to decisively fix it with his direct action.

With this combination you cannot be very impulsive and neither can you be very systematic. You cannot openly express your outgoing passion and neither can you express your need for structure. It always feels like being torn between two extremes. So here you have to find a balance between these two ways of expressing yourself. Else this churning frustration can cause problems on several fronts including health. A spilt personality type of behaviour is possible. Saturn and Mars will fight each other in the house/sign they are in and destroy it. Another thing is that you are prone to anger. The intense flash of volcanic rage that Mars signifies and also the slow burning one, the simmering resentment which turns inwards which is linked to Saturn. You must be careful about the way you allow your temper an outlet. Eg in our example, the 10th house things can be irreversibly damaged if you lose your temper in office or you let the resentment related to the office enter your heart. You will also find yourself in legal problems in the house/sign they signify. eg if this 10th house sign is Gemini then you will face legal issues in your workplace also get into legal wrangles with your siblings, the landed property or houses you own (4th house) will be stolen from you, avoid buying your own car, use public transport. The people signified by this house/sign in life should not be trusted unnecessarily. If there are any legal documents connected to these houses keep them safely. Physical injuries are possible, fractures, ligament tears, problems with the teeth, blood pressure, muscle tears etc. I have noticed that these people suffer from kidney stones. (For kidney stones to occur, Mars, Saturn and 8th house will be connected).

Mars and Saturn together if used in the positive sense can grant you maturity, sense, seriousness, discipline, responsibility, endurance, energy, ability to work and persist till the gains are achieved etc. If you can do some pioneering work which will benefit the society it will help you attain inner balance.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

The effect will be reduced if you have benefics aspecting Saturn Mars. Of if you have a strong ascendant lord/sign and a strong birth Moon. The effects will be reduced in favourable Dasha periods and aggravated during the Dasha periods of Mars and Saturn. Be especially careful during Saturn Mahadasha – Mars antardasha. Also the Mars Mahadasha – Saturn antardasha, as these two sub-periods will be intense.

Even if you do not have this sort of Mars and Saturn interaction in your birth chart, you can also observe yourself and the people around you when Saturn and Mars interact during transits. eg 22nd Oct to 5th Dec 2021 Mars will be aspecting Saturn with his 4th extra aspect. So all of us will feel a strain as our individual the Mars/Libra things will try to aggressively influence the Saturn/Capricorn things in our lives as per our birth chart.

(Someone in my close family has Mars, Saturn and Rahu together, but aspected by Jupiter a major benefic for him. So if you seriously want to learn astrology you must collect the charts of your close family/friends and observe them. That is how you will really learn.)

Sadness and 12th from the Moon

Turmoil, in the real sense, is when felt on the emotional level. So when you analyse the dusham sthan, also analyse these three positions from the birth Moon too. ie In the birth Moon chart, check out which planets and signs are located in the 6th house, the 8th house and the 12th house from him. These energies will hit you on the astral, emotional, instinctive, intuitive etc levels. This sort of pain cannot be expressed openly and neither can be addressed adequately and is generalised into a generic sadness.

Having too many planets in these three houses from the Moon will create a personality which is detached from the inside. Emotional turmoil in life comes from all these connected planets. Their dashas or significant transits are the triggers and because there are so many of them, life is a continuous series of emotional hits. Eventually this will push you into serious psychological issues or turn you into an ascetic. You want to leave on the emotional levels.

Generally we are aware of the planets placed in the 6/8 axis from the birth Moon. We factor in the Shad Ashtak axis influence on the personality as these two planets are unable to interact meaningfully and often give traumatic results. Eg the 6/8 axis between the Moon and Jupiter is the Shakata yog. These two planets are caught in the turbulent cycle of serve or suffer / catastrophic changes and significantly affect the personality and the surrounding environment. It is wise to be careful during every time period where such planets are in charge of your life, ie their Dasha periods or significant transits.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

But we always miss the 12th from birth Moon as it is disguised as the Anapha or the Durdhara yog which is considered auspicious. Anapha means that there are one or more planets, except the Sun, in the 12th house from the birth Moon. Durdhara means that there are one or more planets in the 12th house from and 2nd house from the  birth Moon.

In my personal observations I have seen that the Anapha or the Duradhara yog give several physical achievements, this is as per the standard books. But the planets in the 12th from the birth Moon are also a source of undefinable pain and sadness which takes its toll on the astral self.

Eg. Suppose your ascendant is Aries. Birth Moon in Cancer, 4th house. And Jupiter and Saturn in Gemini sign, 3rd house. So,

Jupiter and Saturn are 12th from the Moon, so people and things connected to these two will create emotional strain all the time. This would be,

  • the keywords of the 3rd house and Gemini sign things.
  • The keywords of the 9th 10th 11th and 12th houses, ie Sagittarius Capricorn Aquarius Pisces signs.
  • Jupiter is the natural karak of higher learning, Dharmapati/ patni ie spouse, children etc.
  • Saturn is the natural agent of profession, the father who teaches how to live in a society, the social image, gains of every sort of activity etc.

All these things will cause you emotional and mental disturbances. Especially the Dasha periods, ie  Jupiter Mahadasha 16yrs and Saturn Mahadasha 19yrs, will be a seamless influence spanning 35yrs. This time will carry the power of the Anapha as well as the subtle energies of emotional loss. If both Jupiter and Saturn are strong, capable of favourable results etc, then these 35yrs will give you all the material results promised by the Anapaha, ie fame, money, social recognition, progress, expansion etc, it will be a good time on the material front. But the underlying theme will be an inexpressible stress on your mind. So as you get all these and other individual chart specific things connected to them, eg get married, get a job, have a child, are recognised socially etc, you will also feel all this to be a loss on the emotional levels. There will be no sense of satisfaction, a subtle strain will pervade each one of these things even as you gain them.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

I have written several posts on the 12th house energies (Index page). When you are analysing the 12th from the Moon you have to remember that all these typical 12th energies of dissolution will operate but now through the lens of the Moon. And the Moon is your existence, past, present future and parallel.

Another thing that we miss analysing is the attributes of the signs, especially so if they are empty. Any sign which is placed 6th 8th or 12th from the Moon, vacant or occupied, should be given the same importance as the planets placed here. In our example, the 12th house from the birth Moon is the sign Gemini. So you will face emotional turmoil from the agents of Gemini sign, ie siblings, people younger than you, teammates, people with the same skills as you, neighbours, extended family etc. You will also feel conflicted when you take decisions or try to create options for yourself or try to walk on a path where personal courage is necessary. If you calculate the Dasha using any Rashi based system, eg the Kaalchakra Dasha, the time periods ruled by Gemini will give you significant material achievements and also the linked typical emotional confusion which is the energy of the 12th house from the Moon.

Next, analyse the ruler of this 12th from the birth Moon sign as he too has a similar effect on the mind. In our example, Dasha periods or significant transits of Mercury will have the same theme of emotional losses and high material gains. He is the primary incharge of the emotional memories from your past lives and also the memories of your ancestors that you carry in your DNA. We connect more with others if we ‘feel’, so this 12th ruler can grant access to a lot of wisdom, if you can become consciously aware of what he is upto in your life. But this is inherently difficult as he does not allow any conscious individualistic control over him. You cannot rationally analyse him. Another point is to observe people born in Dasha periods of such 12th from the Moon planets. These will be very successful individuals, but in some way separate from their achievements, isolated, self-contained, apart, ie not fully there.

So in our example, if you were born in the Dasha of Jupiter, Saturn or Mercury, you will have this all pervading sense of unbelonging, a ‘sadness’ right from your birth and which will possibly continue till the physical death. But you will be a successful individual in the eyes of the world. (I know a chart born in Saturn Mahadasha, Pisces Moon. And Saturn placed 12th from his ascendant sign, double dose of 12th energies.)

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

The 12th house is quite mysterious, more so from the birth Moon. Here the planets are capable of giving you significant power over your subconscious mind. But only if you can manage to overcome the psychic disturbance that they cause to your astral self. If the personality is strong enough, these planets in the 12th from the Moon can grant a deeper understanding of the astral, the occult, past lives, other dimensions, ancestors in Pitrulok, decipher messages from entities, etc. You can simply ask for information, energy or guidance and it will be readily given to you.

But in typical Dasha/ transits, the negative effect of the planets will be seen on the birth Moon. As the 12th house increases its influence over the mind, it pulls towards its unfathomable depths. Your soul’s past life emotional memories are linked to this house so impressions from several lives impinge on the mind. Your current life may seem insubstantial or you may actually feel confused as to which life you are actually in. Such disturbances may manifest as lack of emotional control, emotionally inappropriate behaviour, mood swings, inability to cope with the emotional aspects of the situations you are in etc.

Enormous information will be channeled into your mind, so you might haze out as your mind takes time to process it. You might want to isolate yourself on the emotional level to be able to deal with what is happening to you. These times periods will be busy on the astral levels, so you will dream more vividly, have more flashes of intuition etc, a sense of non-realness will exist. If these planets are strong then you will be able to use these astral experiences in a more productive manner, ie assimilate them more easily into your life. You might take up meditation, travel to natural/ remote areas, even sleep more etc, this will help. You will feel an emotional separation from the material things represented by these planets even as they give you more and more physical gains.

Several planets placed 12th from the Moon, will give more intense effects. I have written about planets in the 12th from the ascendant sign, so try to think of the emotional ramifications of these planets when you are analysing in context of the Moon. Especially if the ascendant lord or Ketu is placed 12th from the Moon there will be more intense effects on the Mind.

  • The ascendant lord is 12th from the Moon, will deny emotional satisfaction in everything. Ability to meaningfully emotionally connect with someone or something else will be lacking. You will be emotionally contained within your own mind, not really aware of your deepest emotions. Sharing your feelings will be difficult and only with those rare people with whom you are very closely intimate. Really trusting others may not be easy, as you subconsciously expect everything to cause you emotional loss. You are emotionally disconnected with your personality itself, this happens because you cannot recognise the emotional boundaries of your own self/ environment which is the domain of the ascendant lord.
  • Ketu placed 12th from the birth Moon should always be evaluated carefully. The astral realms will be very busy as in addition to your past life emotional imporessions, your ancestral spirits are very much there. You might have no deep emotional relationships in the waking life. Messages from the ancestors or spirit guides are strongly shown to you. All this can get very confusing, as you seem to ‘hear’ their voices in your mind. Your Mind has no defences. ie Ketu is the nebulous undefinable and in the 12th house from the Moon he does not allow you to be aware of what all causes losses to your astral, emotional, intuitive, subconscious self. This can put you in dangerous situations where your mind can crack due to the strong unstoppable flow of astral energies. Your mind can be overloaded for no apparent reasons and this can lead to emotional collapses and later physical problems.

As usual, if your birth Moon, ascendant sign and its lord is strong, ie has good shadbala, ashtakvarga score etc then you will be more able to navigate through. If not then you should be aware of what is possible and take corrective actions in time to reduce the impact.

If you have any planet in the 12th from the Moon, check the power of the 9th house from the Moon. If the 9th is strong, ie has powerful planets, is capable of auspicious results, is aspected by benefics etc then you will be able to better use the energies of the 12th. The pure astral nature of the results will change as you will be able to in some way translate them into the current life that you are living.

If there are significant or several planets here, make it a point to remain in solitude or with nature once in a while, it will help. Also do things which will fortify your Moon, ie the mind.

Finally again, these undefinable intense feelings are not going to affect the physical achievements. Generally the material things in life will be quite good as promised by the Anapha or the Durdhara yog. But the feeling of not completely being there will persist. Genuine enjoyment in those achievements will not be possible. You might desire things which you do not consciously understand. Most of us will classify this indescribable feeling as a deep sadness, a loss on the emotional levels and the rare few will use this feeling to push onwards on their path to Moksh.

(In my life, am going through a combined Mahadasha of 2 very strong planets in the Anapha yog. 20+yrs of a lot of material achievements, with the concurrent effect on the Moon.)
