How to heal yourself with intention and visualisation

There was a question on “energy healing” and how it works.

The basic concept is this, you are pure energy, the Advaita, the Eternal Non-dual. You take on this 5-layered body to enjoy this game of creation, Lila. This body is also pure energy. Depending on the level of your perception you can observe your body layers.  If you use your physical sense organs, you can see the physical body/ Sthool sharir. If you have trained yourself to sense auras you are seeing some parts of your Sookshma sharir. If you are an advanced spiritual aspirant you will see your causal body/karan sharir. And finally when you attain Realisation/Moksh you will observe the Soul, your real Self too.

Now back to the body. The various prarabdha karma which you have chosen to enjoy/endure in this life put their imprints on this body. (These karma do not affect the Soul. Nothing can touch your Soul.) When these ‘imprints’ get stuck on your body, (this happens at the moment of your birth), you suffer through various ailments, troubles etc or enjoy the various joys etc. These imprints are triggered at various time/space as per the script of your birth horoscope and transit/Dasha.

Both pain and pleasure are karmic imprints on the body, they are not a part of your body and neither are they a part of your Soul. Some karma adhere strongly and some weakly, that’s about it. Always remember that these karma are adhering to your bodies, they are not a part of ‘you’.

  • Your body has 5-layers and these layer are arranged into the 3 bodies. If you have trained your sub-conscious or are doing your spiritual practice, you can perceive these karmic imprints on your sookshma-sharir in color as red, grey, black stains. Or as burn marks, cuts, welts, injuries etc. Or as hooks, ropes, weird tattoos, cords bound around your subtle body etc. or bas broken limbs and torn body parts. Or as twists in the nadis or irregular pran flow, pran moving in a jerky manner and if the pran flow has stopped the nadi will seem gray/black etc.  There will be something on this body which will stand out. This imprint will feel distasteful, painful, burning, slimy, irritating, uncomfortable etc.

Another typical thing, as you get more used to seeing your astral self, or do more Dhyan you will see into more layers of yourself. The outermost physical body is solid, everyone can see it. Some of you might have trained yourself to see your aura which is a reflection of your sookshma-sharir/subtle body, this will have some color depending on your emotional, physical and mental state at that moment. As you go deeper you will also sense your causal body/karan sharir. Whenever I see my this inner most body it is always a pure white layer. So if you see such layers of colors, do not get confused, you are just seeing yourself more deeply.

Now to healing your bodies.

Most of you will be modifying the energies of your subtle body, sookshma sharir when you do ‘healing’ on yourself. (Rarely will someone need to go deep into the causal body to heal at such inner depths.) There are basically two ways in which you can “heal” these karmic imprints using your intention.

The first one is to literally remove the hooks etc. If you can ‘see’ them, you can just grab and pluck them out. These are extra things inserted into your body which are damaging to you, so just pull them out. eg if you see cords into tied on your body just remove them, pluck them out. This visualisation may seem a bit difficult if you are not used to working in the psychic realms but is quite easy. Simply pull out the foreign looking object which is on your subtle body and it will come off.

The second way is to just ‘peel off’ the unnatural energies adhering to your subtle body, just as you would peel off a sticker from a sticker book. These hooks, wounds, burns, cords etc are not a part of you, so you can easily ‘peel’ them off. Use either of these two visualisations as you feel comfortable with.

Now if the ‘injury’ is very deep or the imprint is stuck on very intensely then it will appear again in your astral body. Some karmic impressions are carried on for several lives so are stuck on rather firmly. So you may have to repeat this exercise several times to finally get rid of them. Best would be to give yourself a healing session every day. It takes only 5 mins of your time if you do it regularly. Once your mind gets used to this process, and can hold on the visualisations etc (say after about 21days or so) you can do the healing part anywhere and at any time of the day.

If you have Ketu in a prominent position in your birth chart then you must take care of your astral body. If he is with your ascendant lord or the birth Moon or influencing several planets then your sookshma-sharir is more your ‘real body’ than your physical body. The physical ailments and discomforts which you will undergo will have their real roots in the astral body. So healing the inner bodies should be an essential part of your daily routine.

How to heal yourself with intention and visualisation

Energy work is all about intention and visualisation. For this you need to have your mind under control and able to strongly visualise. This is how you would go step-wise about the process.

First prepare your room. You can cleanse it using by waving your favourite incense or peacock feathers or by spraying water of the Ganga or do a thorough cleansing using sea salt packets or lemons if you so wish. (Do refer to these earlier posts, use the index page to locate them). Keep the lights dim. Sit on your asan or in any pose where you feel comfortable. Take a few breaths, close your eyes, relax. This helps train your mind. (You are teaching your mind that now you are going to do healing on yourself. So a few sessions later your mind will start getting into the healing mode itself as soon as you do this preliminary clean-up and all.)

Then prepare yourself. You can think of your favourite deity or source of faith or the Universal source of energy. Intend that you are going to heal yourself, request blessings and power from these higher self. If you know Reiki you can ‘draw’ the Reiki symbols and make a cocoon around yourself. If you do not know Reiki then you can make a chi-ball to create an energy cocoon around yourself. (You are fortifying yourself with extra energy consciously.)

And heal yourself.

  • With your eyes closed, try to ‘see’ yourself. All your body parts, do you ‘feel’ anything odd about any of them? Are they all feeling bright and active? Observe critically.
  • If you know your horoscope, (Vedic astrology), ‘look’ carefully at the body parts linked to the ascendant sign, the birth moon sign and the sign occupied by Ketu in the chart, there is a greater possibility that something is going wrong here.
  • If you see anything, hooks, burns, cords etc, you have to now ‘remove’ them. You can either ‘peel’ them off or ‘pull’ them out as you feel convenient.
  • Visualise the removed hooks, stickers etc burning in a very deep bright fire and floating away from you.
  • Then visualise a ‘bandage’ of energy, a soothing pearly shimmery layer of energy setting over the affected parts of the astral body. Hold this visualisation for a minute or so.
  • Then finally visualise a soothing healing shimmery pearly cocoon around you. Visualise that your source of faith is energising this cocoon.
  • Take a few deep breaths and then it is done.

So this is how you do a simple healing on yourself. (I have written several posts on healing and energy. Do use the Index page or the search bar to locate them if you wish to read.)

How to heal yourself with intention and visualisation

Chakra Healing, stepwise

Since I wrote on the possible risks involved in getting initiated in energy-healing modalities like Reiki, there was a question on how to safely self-heal. Your energy is a part of yourself. You can easily sense your chakras or manipulate your energies even without initiation of any sort. Self healing is generally intuitive but for newbies it can seem a bit confusing so here is a very simple step-wise process you can perform on yourself once a week or once a month or as you feel like.

Your mind is your most powerful tool. If you can do three things at once using the infinite ability of your mind, try healing yourself with your mind? Watching TV while eating dinner and simultaneously texting your bff is very routine. Challenge your mind! Ask it to become aware of your personal energy, the flow of your inner energy and if there is something doing wrong to fix it.

Chakra healing

This is how you clean and energize your every individual chakra. You can use this as a basic guide, as a framework structure, but ultimately do as you feel intuitively. Go with the flow!

In your darkened room, preferably on your asan, in a yogic posture with your hands in the gnyan mudra (just as you would do to sit for doing Dhyan). Or if this is too much, sit as you feel comfortable. Just keep your head, neck and back aligned, do not slouch. (If you are a woman in your 5 days cycle or if pregnant, do not sit on your asan, sit somewhere else.)

Close your eyes. Call on your source of faith. Focus at the third eye chakra/ ajnya chakra, tell your mind to still itself.

Then ‘look’ internally at the lowest Muladhar chakra at the lowest tip of your spine where your legs join your body. You will see a reddish color here. With time you will see a reddish lotus like figure with four petals. Visualise pouring brilliant red light and flooding this region with its red energy. A light, transparent, rich, beautiful red color. As beautiful as you can visualise it. Visualise the ‘petals’ of the lotus getting longer, bigger, stronger, more vibrant as the red light washes over it. If you see any dirt, murkiness, brown/black stuff sticking here, clean it out. ‘Wash’ out this lotus in the red light. Spend some time admiring the beauty of this lotus, feel happy about everything here. With time you will also feel the whirring of the energy vertex here, it will be in the clockwise direction for men and women always. (Only in women, just for the 5-days of the cycle it will be anti-clockwise. Your chakras going anti-clockwise indicate physical destruction occurring in the body.) As you increase your focus, you will also sense the nadi-s from the chakra moving out from the chakra to the concerned organs. As this chakra controls the sense of smell you might briefly experience the ‘essence’ of smell-sense while you are focussed here. You might briefly sense a ‘solidity’ here. Take about 2 mins over this chakra. infuse joy in every action you  perform in your energy work.

Now I have used words like ‘wash’, ‘clean-up’ etc. You can visualise your hands covered with shimmery energy, touching the chakra-petals. Visualise your hands washing this lotus under a flowing light. Or visualise brushing off the murky stuff using an actual brush. Do your visualisations as you feel comfortable.

Next bring your focus to the Swadhisthan chakra, 4 fingers below your navel. Here you will do the same thing as you did at the Muladhar, except you will wash this lotus-chakra with a beautiful orange color. It has 6 petals. I always see this lotus ‘underwater’. As your mind ripples with emotions, you will actually see these ripples moving over this area. Here there is a sense of coolness and also of strength.

The Manipur is at your solar plexus a golden yellow colored lotus with 10 petals. Do the same healing here. Pour golden yellow color over this lotus and make it radiant. This is the seat of fire so you might feel a warmth enveloping you as you do its energy-clean-up.

Focus at the Anahata and do its similar healing. It is exactly at the center of the line joining the nipples. It has 12 loops/petals and emerald green colored. Visualise this lotus petals taking in the energy of the Vayu/air. You might even sense a gust of air moving around you at this chakra.

Then the Vishuddhi chakra at your voice box, it is sky-blue in color, very attractive pleasing. This lotus has 16 petals looping around it. The petals are like transparent overlays, soft glowy light and very ethereal. They move with a very gentle swaying motion, its very beautiful soothing. This chakra is also to be healed same as the rest. As you expand its energies you might feel ligher, more subtle, more vast like the Akash/ ether.

And back to Ajnya chakra, the middle of the eyebrows, a dark violet lotus with only 2 petals. Heal this too. As you clean and refresh your chakras, all their associated nadi/ vital energy channels will feel the positive effects. Thus your energy body as a whole will be rejuvenated.

If in this state of mental relaxation coupled with deep focus, if you look upwards at the top of your head, you will see your Sahasrara chakra too. Do not attempt to ‘heal’ this. If you are doing spiritual practice you will see this as a lovely ethereal flower with infinite, long ‘petals’, curling and curving around as if in a gentle water current. They are pearly shimmery utterly beautiful. If you ‘look’ at this especially after doing your Dhyan, they stretch forever, they are then infinite in length and number.

Colors of the Aura

Specific organ healing

Now part 2 of the healing process. If you are suffering from some medical condition, you can direct a flow of silvery-golden light to this body part. Even if you are quite healthy, there must be some small injury to your body or you might be wearing spectacles? Try this. Visualise your eyes covered with a golden-silvery healing cocoon. ‘Wash’ your eyes with this shimmery light. You might see specks of darkness/greyness in your eyes. Here is a very easy visualisation you can try. Imagine two glowing magnetic orbs on either side of your head. These orbs will now work and attract the grey/black negativity. Their magnetic pull will pull the grey specks out of the eyes into themselves. Now send these orbs as far away from you as you can and visualise a beautiful golden fire consuming them. If you do this regularly, just for 2 mins, your eye-sight will improve with time.

Then if you ever get caught in an emergency situation, eg an accident or surgery etc, and you are in intense pain. You cannot focus your mind. So first visualise an envelope of a beautiful transparent emerald green light covering your entire body. This will reduce the pain faster, so that your mind will soon be able to recover and focus on the healing. Then focus your mind on the damaged body part and intend healing as above.

The washing cycle!

Clean out your entire body with the power of your mind and intention. Literally wash it out. This is how you do it. Visualise half a glass of pure water in your hand. (eg Ganga water or any other pure spring water). Now top up the glass with silvery-gold shimmery energy. Mix the water and the energy in the glass. Visualise the water and the energy mixing completely and you have a glass full of highly pure water charged with a high level of shimmery energy. Visualise yourself drinking this water/energy. See it entering your stomach, intestines, liver, entering your blood, the organs in your abdomen, ovary/testes, pancreas, adrenals, your chest, your lungs, your neck, thyroid, head, hands, feet etc. Visualise it entering the important endocrine glands etc. Visualise that it cleans out the organs and removes all the negative material, toxic influences, foreign stuff etc. When it finishes this clean-up intend that the energy-water moves out through the kidneys and the bowel.

Be prepared for rather intensive bowel and urine movements over the next few hours. Drink a lot of water during these few hours and eat simple light food, no non-veg, no alcohol, no stimulants. Plan this energy-water washing-out on your holiday. This is quite an intense experience so you should do this once in 3-6 months.

Everything you do is powered by your focussed intention. So if you do some spiritual practice you will see faster and more visible results. Spiritual practice is anything that stills your chattering mind and allows you to focus. This focus point is your third eye chakra if you keep your eyes closed or the central dot of the Shri yantra if you prefer keeping your eyes open while you do your spiritual practice. Even Silence can be a very effective focussing tool. Follow whichever practice which appeals to you for 21 days and see the difference in your ability to focus and intend.

Your mind is your most powerful tool, and a tool needs to be used. If you don’t, it will rust and spoil. Then later re-activating it will require more effort. We have let our minds rust for too long. So a tiny regular practice is essential, slowly you will hone your mind and then use it, for restoring your health and energy.

Kundalini and the Shatchakra

Magnified healing tweaked with Reiki

Reiki is a type of energy available from the Universe discovered by Mikao Usui in the last century. He linked the various aspects of this Reiki energy to different symbols. So when you get initiated into Reiki the teacher ‘puts’ these symbols into your sub-conscious. You then use these symbols to trigger their associated energies in your work. Reiki can be used for anything that requires a positive Intention and focus.

And even if you are not initiated to Reiki you can use the energy from the Universe. I have written about it in my earlier post here on trying to sense your Chakras. Reiki is rather a short-cut! Later there came up variants of Reiki, which add more symbols, like Karuna, Kundalini etc.

Magnified healing tweaked with Reiki

Today will write on ‘Magnified healing’, it is a registered energy process developed by Gisele King. There are all sorts of angels which are invoked and some summoning phrases, a mix of essential oils, and a tiny ritual which is required to be learnt by rote. She has classes and levels and payment structures (My brother has got himself initiated so I know about it). It is quite powerful but I get the same results using Reiki. You can ‘replace’ the energies of diseased organs of the body with the energies of fully functional normal organs using Reiki like Magnified healing. I once changed the energies of my mother-in-law’s food pipe (it was seriously damaged and she was ready to die!). This is how you do it.

  • Always remember your energy work will be more effective if you are Grateful. There should be some energy which inspires your faith, your favourite deity/the universe/your higher self/your Guru/reiki/anything. There should be something that you know Loves you and you take comfort in and are grateful to. This Gratefulness is the source of all your energy. (You can set up a small altar too, if there is image/moorthi/geometry that inspires your faith. You can also keep your energy tools on your altar).
  • There should be preferably a place which you call your own, actually your Asan. At its simplest, it is a piece of 1mX1m pure silk piece on which you will sit. It helps insulate you and all the energies you invoke will be directed into your work not grounded to the earth. No one else should put their feet on this silk, so store it carefully after you are done. Sit facing north or east as always. (If you cannot sit cross legged then sit on a stool, put a piece of silk on your stool and a piece of silk under your feet. You should be preferably insulated from the earth., If you don’t have silk, use pure wool.)
  • Keep a glass bowl of sea-salt or 1 lemon in a glass bowl in front of you.
  • I have found Tuesday and Saturday twilights good for these things, but of course everyone can have their own preferences.
  • Now close your eyes, focus on your third eye, breathe deeply and relax. Say ‘Om’ a few times, drag out the last ‘mmm’ part. Breathe some more, remember your abdomen should move in and out with your breathing not just your chest.
  • Fold your hands in the namaskar position, feel the energy of your palm chakras. If you know Reiki draw all the symbols you have been taught on your both palms first. (Drawing the symbols, means using the index and middle fingers of the right hand and draw the symbol with these 2 fingers on your left hand and vice versa).
  • When your palms get whirring/warm/hot/surging with energy, intend that you will be now removing the abnormal energy of the diseased organ, eg the food-pipe, and replacing it with the correct normal energy of that body part.
  • Request the Universe to help you and provide you the proper energy of that body part. Visualise that part, eg the new food-pipe, floating in front of you, filled with gold/silver energy. Feel its positive healthy energies.
  • Now, with your both hands visualise the sick body part and remove its energy, it will look/feel, red/black/grey/slimy/sticky/greasy/bad. Firmly grab it with your charged palms and pull it out, release this unhealthy energy immediately into the sea-salt bowl or the lemon in front of you.
  • Then pick up the floating new energy and set it into place in your body. Cup both your palms over it and charge it with energy for a few minutes. Visualise gold/silver energy from the Universe settling over it and it joining it to your body’s energy. Draw reiki symbols over this new part also.
  • Finish by visualising a pearl like silver/gold shield of energy all around you. Visualise this shield to be connected to the source of the Universal energy continuously and adding a layer of healing around you throughout the day. Relax for a few minutes and open your eyes.
  • When you finish, dispose the sea-salt carefully without touching it, wash it down the drain. If using a lemon, cut it carefully on a paper. Do not touch it or spread the juice everywhere. Dispose it carefully in a trash can outside your house. You can wash the knife and bowl carefully, no need to throw them too!

Now this new energy is a part of your astral body so will take a maximum 6 months for it to manifest in the physical body. So to make the healing faster you can do basic healing over this part for 5 minutes every day. You simply rub your palms a few times, draw reiki symbols on them and then cup them over the body part. Draw the reiki symbols on the part too. You can if you want make a healing crystal grid and leave it undisturbed for a few days to help the new energy heal.

This energy replacement will work 100% depending on the strength of your intention and the visualisation. I know because it has worked for me and my MIL and my MIL was a couple of thousand kilometres away from me.

Energy work is all about Intention! Not fancy invocations and and complicated rituals, though they might help sometimes. So power your intention by doing some spiritual practice for at least 5mins everyday. When your conscious mind stops thinking your sub-conscious becomes active and you get connected to the energies of the Universe. Energy work is a complete life-style where you try to increase the vibrational level of everything around you, your food, the water you drink, the thoughts you think, the words you speak, everything you do!
