The Almost Kaal Sarpa

I have written about Kaal Sarpa in my post here. Kaal Sarpa Yoga is when the 7 graha, Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are hemmed in between Rahuand Ketu (the planets will be moving such that they will be exiting from the Rahu side of the axis, eg the planetary configuration on 15th Aug 2004).

Kaal Amrita Yoga is the other variant when the 7 graha, Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are hemmed between Ketu and Rahu. (the planets will be moving in a direction so that they will get out of the hemming from the Ketu side. eg check the configuration on 25th Apr 2020) This is just a technical distinction as I have not seen much of a difference in both these types of kaal-sarpa yog.

A complete kaal sarpa yog, which gives the most intense results, is when there are no graha in the houses containing Rahu/ Ketu and the ascendant sign is also hemmed in between them. ie Rahu and Ketu will be alone in the houses/ rashi that they occupy. ie No other planet will be modulating their energies by closely conjucting with them. The rest of the planets, including the ascendant will be on one side of this axis. This gives them full scope to give their full results.

If there are any planets in close conjunction with Rahu/ Ketu then they will modulate the nature of these astral planets and the intensity of the kaal sarpa combination is reduced.

The Almost Kaal Sarpa

However there is still something called partial Kaal Sarpa. In this there will be one graha or the ascendant sign itself outside the Rahu/ Ketu hemming.

The current times are more conducive to the formation of Kaal Sarpa as the slowest moving planets, Jupiter and Saturn are close together and on the same side of the Rahu/ Ketu axis. Rahu/ Ketu axis is exactly 180 degrees apart. Thus when, during the year, the rest of the faster moving planets join up on this same side of this axis, expect a pure/ partial Kaal Sarpa in the charts of children born then.

A partial Kaal Sarpa confers a lot of advantages, but your astrologer can make you do remedies for this too! So just understand more about how this works before blindly going and spending money on the remedies. Doing remedies, pujas etc is never wasted. Any action performed with intention will give its results. But it is better to know why you are doing this remedy rather than doing it blindly.

In a partial Kaal Sarpa combination, all the planets except a single one is hemmed in between the Rahu/ Ketu axis. All except one are on one side of the axis. This one outside graha has an extra effect on you. If the other planets are placed in good houses/ signs and support the horoscope as a whole, you can even be a world leader. Your personal sufferings in the process are reduced or are manageable. But if these others are weakly placed, you will be the oppressor yourself using the same energies to adversely affect other people. Also you suffer more.

In such a horoscope pay special attention to the position of Rahu. He is the direction of ambition and indicates the direction in which your desires lie. Revise the keywords of the chart here. The owner of Rahu’s sign, his conjunct planets and planets which aspect him will be caught up in his drive for ambitions too. Find your target groups here. Eg. If Rahu in the 4th, you will deeply desire emotional comforts and security. Thus you can be the agent who gives emotional security to others or you can be a parasite on others using their energies to support your need for emotional comfort. You will decide on being a ‘giver’ or a ‘taker’ depending on the placement of other planets and your own Conscious decision.

If your horoscope has such a ‘partial’ Kaal sarpa combination check out your potential depending on the one planet which is outside the Rahu/ Ketu hemming. These descriptions below are the best possible positive use of your potential.

Ascendant sign alone outside the axis – here the Kaal sarpa is considered to be completely nullified. This is because the personality itself as defined by the first house is outside the axis. I have seen that these individuals perform better because of the combined synergistic effect of the other 7 planets from the other side of the axis. The Ascendant house outside the axis somehow acts as a focus point for the planets. This is a good placement for leadership and prominent roles in the society.

Sun alone outside the axis – gives a strong foundation of intelligence, leadership and creativity. You can channel the sources of divine information and are capable of passing it on to your target audience. You will be creative and confident about presenting yourself too. The position of Rahu, his sign/house and house owner will indicate your target. You can be a morally grounded celebrity, political or religious. Such a Sun can increase your ability to take decisions which will help your target group. You can lead with ambition.

Moon alone outside the axis and acting as a focal point for the other grahas, will allow you to link up on an emotional and compassionate way to your targets. This will make you want more experiences on the emotional level. You desire to give protection and stability to your target group. You will have the patience to listen and help. If you have the supporting planets, you can be a care-giver to the emotionally tortured, a psychologist, a counsellor, maybe an astrologer!

The Almost Kaal Sarpa

Mercury alone outside the axis gives super analytical skills and qualities of database management. You can calculate almost anything from the data provided to you. If other aspects permit you can be a mastermind for planning and and accounting, it will be your drive, your ambition. Maybe a banking sector, or in large organisations, or in the government or the military. Large scale resource management and planning will be child’s play to you. You have critical thinking skills and excel in communications you can be a famous reporter/journalist. You can use these talents to be a speaker to the masses, helping them with your sharp incisive perceptions.

Mars alone outside the axis will amplify your presence, your social status and how society perceives you. Your physical and vital bodies will be strong enough for you to lead others. People will follow you, thus you can fight for good causes and justice. You can motivate your target groups to do extraordinary work for the public good. You can be a good politician, army-man, government official or an athlete.

Jupiter alone outside the axis grants a deep understanding of the human life and philosophy. You can be a religious leader or a renown humanist, a philosopher. You know why people are in trouble and you know how to pull them out of their miseries. And you care enough to use your energies for them. You can use your wisdom and knowledge to understand and heal depending on the position of Rahu and the other planets.

Venus alone outside the axis gives allows you a sense of beauty and balance. Depending on your target ambition you can be a really good lawyer, musician, singer, or any of the creative arts. You also are a good homemaker, a good partner and if planets permit it a teacher of the esoteric too. Venus is a very deceptive planet, he is the tantrik, gives you all the pleasures of life till you are saturated and if you can understand that you have had enough he can offer you the privilege of the Ultimate relation with your own Self, Moksh!

Saturn alone outside the axis This will ensure endurance and the capacity to work, however you will be quite careful about your physical body and the societal norms. You will be aware of oppressions and restrictions on your own self and on the society and will work towards freeing yourself and others. You can be a good social worker, legal activist, working with non-governmental organizations etc. Revolutions are not your way, you will work patiently and steadily allowing stability and logn-term gains for everyone.

So Kaal Sarpa or even partial Kaal Sarpa can be a very good thing, very empowering if you know what the energies are saying to you. The horoscope charts out the energies you chose for yourself at the time of birth. It is up to you to use these energies in the best possible manner. While using these energies always remember your inner Conscience/Antaratma is always judging you. Always do things which being you satisfaction, that deep inner satisfaction when you know that by your actions your own Karma is being balanced beautifully!

Forgive yourself to Heal yourself

We all chose our fate for this one life at the moment of our birth, this is seen as the horoscope chart which we read. Now there are always some ups and downs. It is so strange that we never question the ‘ups’ but rue the ‘downs’ of life. We blame the Universe our mom/dad, the husband/wife, our teachers and even our children for our problems. But it is time we realise that, the problems and their solutions are both within our own self.

Forgiveness is such a hot item in the market, that I felt like writing my very practical take on it. I think a bit differently, as always. So here it is.

The feeling of forgiveness is an energy. Energy can never be destroyed, but can be transmuted or transferred. Forgiveness arises only after experiencing intense emotional pain. The pain is so intense that you have no other ‘real’ way of resolving it, so you forgive. Forgiveness is about you and never about the other person. When you forgive, you return energy to the one who gave you that pain. This ensures your freedom. This really happens very rarely in a life-time because you cling on to negative energies and never think of freeing yourself through forgiveness.

Most of us turn forgiveness into a show of magnanimity, displaying the largeness of our hearts, turn it into a public spectacle, try to impress others with our nobility of spirit. When you ‘turn the other cheek’, follow a society rule-book, or try to gain socially by ‘forgiving’, you basically feed your ego and get attached to being on the high moral ground. ‘I am better than you because I forgive your heinous behaviour!’, simply does not work.

If you really want to forgive, the motive should be, to do the right thing by your own Conscience/Antar-atma. Forgiveness is no strings attached, you give it away. You cannot consciously plan self-gain when forgiving. True forgiveness happens only as a last resort. This is when you have tried all ways of resolving, re-balancing, healing and everything has failed. When the ego fails, you forgive. This happens only when you go through deep emotional pain. Such pain cannot be resolved by holding on to it. It has to be released and it will leave you only when you forgive yourself for choosing it in the first place. Forgiveness is always an intensely private affair, between you and yourself.

Forgive yourself to Heal yourself

Choices! You chose your emotional problem. Now you will choose the solution. Whatever you choose, the first step out is to forgive yourself for choosing the pain in the first place.

Example. Your wife died tragically young, leaving you with a baby to raise. You feel hurt, lost, resentful and in emotional pain. This is an injustice, you shout out at your Gods, at the Universe! Can the legal system help redress? Can any one else even do anything? No! You have to do this for yourself. You have to let go of this pain by forgiving yourself for choosing this experience. Release that painful energy to the Universe in this case. This is a bitter karmic lesson, learn it now in this life, forgive yourself, so that you don’t face the same situation in your next life.

Example. You buy a extra flat for investment and your brother asks to stay there. You agree but then he never vacates and you have lost possession of the flat. You try talking to him. Your parents also take his side. You can of course go to the courts to get him evicted but it is not worth the trouble. You have enough income and the flat was extra. Your brother’s behaviour has hurt your trust. You are reconciled to the loss of the flat, but you are hurt, deeply resentful and in emotional pain. How do you recover? There are no social or legal ways now. So, Forgive? The last resort. It is like an emotional surgery. A sample how-to-do.

  1. First think about what was the problem really?
    • Your trusting him? Or his betraying you?
    • Generally all normal persons trust their family members. So you definitely were not the problem. Betraying a family member’s trust was the problem. The problem was created by him.
  2. Identify the source of the toxic energy which is creating negative energy in you.
    • In our example this is not you. It has come from your brother.
  3. Acknowledge that Events occur as scripted in the horoscope. This was your choice at birth. So acknowledge that this event was to happen at this point of time.
    • You were to attract these energies of betrayal from your brother. The timing and the conditions were such that this foreign energy came in to you and got stuck on you. Temporarily, you attracted it from your brother!
  4. Now to remove this toxic energy. Emotional pain always burrows deep into the sub-conscious and astral bodies. It needs to be removed by its roots, else it can continue on to the future lives too. (Doing guided meditation also helps.)
    • This will take a bit of intention and conscious will.
    • Do a bit of grounding and cleansing with sea-salt water before and after this conscious act of ‘forgiveness’.
    • Relax and try to settle your mind. Think of your source of faith /universe /reiki /favourite deity etc.
    • Speak the sentences out loud. It should be from your heart in the language you are comfortable in. Something like this. ‘This energy of betrayal which had come to me from my brother, it does not belong to me, I have no use for it, I return it to its source where it properly belongs.’ and visualise it leaving you.
  5. After this removal (forgiveness), feel your light filled self. Visualise yourself covered by pearly silver-gold energy. Visualise the Universal source of light and love. Connect your pearly shield with this Source. Feel yourself enveloped by its comforting love. Relax.
  6. If the emotional context was too severe you may need to repeat this process a few times. This will ensure freedom from the toxicity and you will be secure in your own clear emotions.

Forgiveness ends the emotional hurt for the one who forgives.

Forgive yourself to Heal yourself

For the one being forgiven, this does not mean that he is released from the burden of pain he gave. Far from it. One who consciously decides to emotionally or physically harm others, creates quite a bit of great deal of karmic pain for himself in some future life. The internal conscience is always judging, always! Your brother will face the consequences of his actions without a doubt. Karma cannot be escaped. It will ensure balance.

Forgiveness is not cowardice. And it is neither denial or suppression of emotions. It is neither reconciling to the pain. It is trusting the higher forces of Karma and putting yourself out of the picture.

Forgiveness releases you from the burden of this thought, “I have to ensure that this person who has hurt me gets punished. This is my responsibility”. In the personal context, there are several hurts which always remain deeply private. Social or legal justice has its limits. If you tie the one who hurt you to yourself like this, you will need to power this thought. This drains energy which could have been put to better use. You use precious soul-energy to hold on to resentment, pain, loss, torment, defeat, negativity, why? Let it go away from you. Know that karma exists and trust it to do its job. By forgiving yourself, you get free from the burden of grief. Concentrate on your well-being.

When someone hurts you on the emotional level, this should be your response, “You hurt me, I did nothing to deserve it. I will not keep this act within me. I am returning this energy back to you. I will not keep this energy and neither this emotional hurt within me.” Intend this consciously, forgive and be free.

Never cling to memories of injustice, it is exhausting, it drains you of your potential to be happy. And tell yourself, “my Self, my Lovely Self, always be Happy, it is your Real Nature!”.

Forgive yourself to Heal yourself

Depression, what does the horoscope say?

Am getting more questions related to mental problems like depression, suicidal thoughts, not fitting into the society and wanting to remain apart. It is rather worrying to see young men and women getting such emotional lows for no good reason. I have written on addictions and on psychiatric issues.

There are cycles in human society. During one ancient period, invasions were a regular feature, so I guess Mars was more important then, being alert, going with an army to kill, or being able to defend one’s home and village were important life skills. But in this cycle, my and your lives are dominated by communication, you wake up to a Whatsapp msg and sleep with your Facebook. If you don’t get enough likes on your posts, you feel uneasy and if someone writes something critical about the post, the whole day goes in depression! You read other’s thoughts, people whom you have never even met, and these posts affect you more than they logically should. You pore over every comma, full-stop and try to find meanings in every tiny word.

But then if your mom scolds you for eating junk food, you don’t even look at her. If your teachers ask you to switch off your mobiles in class, you allege ‘freedom of expression’ and get that teacher scolded from the principal. You do not value real in-depth knowledge, much less wisdom. The social structure has changed, your home has become the like-minded group of your Internet, not the physical solidity of the 4-walls. You now derive your emotional security and happiness from the virtual world. You let your these virtual groups define your personality. You find pleasure in the ephemeral, get bored and then search for new topics to pleasure you, till you feel jaded. And you value this virtual temporary stuff more than the real solid long-lasting stuff that was once the foundation of the society.

Depression, what does the horoscope say?

So you see, from the paragraph above, if you have paid attention to the keywords baby-steps for the horoscope, there is a lot you can analyse. In our world today the following have gained more importance,

Mercury – He is the agent of all sorts of communications, databases, number-crunching, juvenile chit-chat, nit-picking and details. He is a superficial adolescent spending time with same-age groups chattering, gossiping. Now attention spans even getting shorter, maturity getting lower and nervous excitement higher.

He is rapidly becoming the foremost planet of our times, so let us see what is his take on the matters of mental health. Examine just this one all-important placement, the 3rd house from the birth mercury sign. This is the place where your thoughts tangle and complicate and play with themselves till they cause mental stress. Thoughts here repeat in never-ending loops, which is not good for normal analytical reasoning. The sign, house and planet in this 3rd from mercury demand mental attention and energy. Distracted, depressed and compulsive thinking is seen from here.

Any planet placed in this 3rd from Mercury causes mental chatter. So pay special attention to this mental-energy draining location when evaluating mental stress. These planets, house, sign give their other effects in life as always, and some of these may be excellent but as far as mental processes are concerned they disrupt. Eg Saturn placed here, will give mental oppression, hard mental work, bitterness, negativity, oppression and depression. eg. Moon placed here will color every thought looping into your brain with emotion, creating anxiety, worry, fear of emotional loneliness, of losing mental/emotional stability and loss of comfort.

If this house is vacant, it is better as the mind functions without pre-conceived bias. This problem of ‘sticky’ feelings/opinions is less severe. This house has the past karma of faulty mental processes from past lives which has to be experienced and completed.

Back to analysing our current time-cycle.

Saturn – the solid hierarchical social structure as defined by Capricorn is moving more to the quick-changing similar-minded group structure as defined by Aquarius. The more exotic is good, the more rules flouted the better, everyone making profits even better. You are at your ambitious best, wanting to jump upwards, till you over-reache and fall on your face.

Moon – the mind, which loves to flit from subject to subject. With the Internet, there is no dearth of subjects, the mind is in a whirlpool, of messages, likes, pings and hashtags, that it is getting dizzy not quite knowing where to look. Mind needs comfort and emotional security/stability, but here it gets nothing of that sort. Nothing to anchor itself in these shifting sands of the virtual world. There was a time when a mother or father meant security and love, but now these relations have stopped existing. The mind has lost its roots.

Mars – He is the vitality of the personality, but he seems to be failing in a strange way. You rarely see a person being a vital male or a female brimming with the force of his/her personality. Misshapen, fat, ill and worse, mentally weak, is what this current population is moving onto. Reproduction is also being affected, with assisted reproductive technologies and overall weaker children being born.

Jupiter – No one really bothers with his gift of deep wisdom and knowledge. Very few genuine teachers and equally few deserving students. Jupiter finds himself trumped by Mercury for the time being.

Sun – He is the source of divine intelligence and the creativity associated with it. But now creativity also seems to have been warped. From the elegance of Elvis’s songs in the past to Miley screeching in recent times, just for a comparison.

Venus – He is capable of giving you Moksh, the final esoteric wisdom if you can transcend his pleasure-able tests. But in this world of instant gratification and zero patience, you fall in his traps of girl/ boy-friends, addictions, make-up, fad-diets and superficial beauty.

Rahu – the world is abound with risky ambitions, the scale of which has gone global. Rahu’s nature is to over-extend and eventually fail. If in the past your business failed, only your close groups would know about it and you would get over it quite quickly too. Now the entire world knows about this, never forgets it and your past failures will be online forever haunting you.

Ketu – Now we all are dissociated from the real world. I guess this says it all. A bit more about Ketu, the embodiment of dissociation, the agent of separation, detachment, and despair. These are the ‘pure’ results which will be of course modified as per other factors, planets, aspects, sign and house.

  • Ketu in Aries or Scorpio – generally lethargic but intermittent spurts of unpredictable, aggressive or violent activity. Typically passive-aggressive behaviour.
  • Ketu in Taurus or Libra – is an escapist by nature. Quite active and gets into several aimless relationships with weird persons. Destruction of money, wealth and relations is often a result.
  • Ketu in Gemini or Virgo – mental confusion, anxious and aimless chatter, wrong illogical analysis, querulous arguments. Will interfere into the lives of others, basically cannot be trusted.
  • Ketu in Cancer – psychic, nervous, painfully insecure, over-sensitive, terrified of abandonment, dependant. Prefers to remain in isolation and is scared of life overall.
  • Ketu in Leo – Is a nutcase who thinks himself to be the emperor. Meaningless self-righteous self-promotion. Is sometimes wildly excited and then easily offended.
  • Ketu in Capricorn or Aquarius – extremely detached from everything represented by society. No motivation and zero interest in life. Wears depressing colors drab looking is generally disinterested.
  • Ketu in Sagittarius or Pisces – carries the load of global human despair. Wants to ‘help’ humans, takes to travelling to ‘help’ large scale humanitarian problems. Ineffectual and an escapist.

Depression, what does the horoscope say?

This time-cycle is replete with challenges and at the foremost are the challenges posed by Mercury, the agent of thought and analysis. So if you feel despondent and depressed, open your horoscope and analyse everything to do with Mercury. Try to analyse how Mercury links up with Ketu/ South node and the rest of the planetary forces.

Think yourself back to yourself. You can do it, just give it a try.

We can analyse everything if we can learn to break it down to components. Astrology, Tarot, Runes, any divination tool is about this. These tools empower, they tell you what you have sub-consciously chosen, and then give you the option to change your wish again this time by conscious efforts. These conscious efforts mean consciously working with energy, with your Self. You yourself are conscious energy.

Remember you are never helpless, you always have a choice. Your conscious Will can and does intervene. You just have to intend the Change.

Psychiatric problems, an astrological perspective

“I hate my birthday, and I wish I was never born!”, this is something quite familiar in today’s over-stressed young men and women. If some boyfriend says this we either scoff it off and drag him to a pub to cheer him up. Or we say, our this girlfriend is always the drama queen and this is so just being her (rolling our eyes!). But sometimes this intensity of feeling has its source in the charts and then things can be very different. Its important to be able to differenciate when it is just drama and when it is, in fact, deep seated trauma.

We will be discussing mental health so we will be analysing the normal basic horoscope with the ascendant as the first house, this is called the D-1. But we will also focus on the Moon Chart. It is the same as the birth horoscope but just the houses are shifted so the birth moon sign is counted as the first house. If you analyse such horoscopes of mentally unstable persons you will find certain common themes.

Psychiatric problems, an astrological perspective

Now the birth moon is the main indicator of mental and emotional strength. The house that he is posted in, the owner of the moon sign, the planets he is with and aspected by all contribute to the mental health. A moon placed in the 6th, 8th or 12th automatically puts him under pressure. The 6th is the house of details, arguments, debts, enemies, over-analysis, servitude, diseases. The 8th is forceful transformative changes to the identity, trauma, accidents, death, surgeries, fiery energies and secrets. And the 12th is the increase of the astral at the expense of the material, depths of the sub-conscious, sleep, dreams, imagination, insanity. Thus the moon here is pre-disposed to nervousness. If he is associated with any planet here the damage is more. The energies of these houses generally never give positive results, so in a chart with these moon placements do be very careful in analysis. eg. Jupiter and Moon in 12th in a clients chart caused her to have delusions, vivid imaginations bordering on insanity and finally led to her death by internal haemorrhage. Moon (liquid blood), Jupiter (expansion) 12th house (unknowable spaces).

When you analyse the moon chart, do look out for the 6th from moon and the 8th from moon. These houses and their results can severely cripple the mind. The 6th house will create matters which will be felt as emotionally unbalanced, unfair, mismatched and exploitative. The agents of this house will always been seen as adversaries, criticisers, betrayers and accusers. This 6th house is always difficult because Mercury (natural 6th in the zodiac is Virgo ruled by Mercury) behaves like a typical adolescent, habitually arguing, nit-picking, playing the victim, blaming others and having unbalanced relationships creating deep emotional conflict. See the emotional issues related to breaking of promises and disappointed expectations from the 6th from the moon.

Now the 8th from Moon covers all the events of catastrophic emotional changes. The triggers are from the 6th and the timing is seen from the lords of 2nd and 7th. These will include hidden threats to emotional security which will suddenly become active. Depending on the other aspects the actual event may vary, eg. Rahu will induce very visible volatile unpredictable self-destructive behaviour accompanied by a feeling of internal terror.

(If you have the exact birth time available, you can calculate the Divisional Navamsha D-9 chart, and analyse just the moon sign from here. The D-9 has been discussed in detail here. It is a valuable indicator of the astral you which is eventually reflected as the physical you of the D-1. But if the birth time is off by even 1 minute do not use the divisional charts they will mislead.)

Psychiatric problems, an astrological perspective

Next indicator, Cancer ruled by the Moon is the natural 4th house of the Zodiac and linked to emotional security and comfort. Thus do check out the position of Cancer, this sign has a subtle effect on mental health where-ever it may be placed in the chart. So always analyse its placement, the planets in and aspecting it. I know a chart where Cancer ascendant with Mars, the individual has typical ‘Mars fire drowned in Cancer‘ mood swings, can be quite maternal at times but also tends to control his friends and family relations using emotions as a weapon.

The 4th house also contributes to mental security and emotional comforts. But do be careful when analysing planetary influences. If you have a Saturn placed here it will restrict all emotional expressions, you wont ever get emotional soothing but you wont trip off the other end of depression, because Saturn will constrict it all. So keep in mind the essential nature of the planets when you analyse.

Even more, mental instability and attachment to self-destructive thought patterns is a form of addiction. I have written a full post on addiction hereAddiction is another step down the slippery slope to depression. A person can get addicted to toxic self-sadistic thought patterns and in a twisted way start to enjoy them and even find them comforting. A Moon in 6th house client loves being the ‘victim’, he is psychologically addicted to his experience of abandonment by the mother, he loves to rehearse and reiterate his grief. It is difficult to disconnect from this thought pattern because he himself is not aware of it. Ultimately help was in the form of Classical homeopathy and Bach Flower Remedies.

Now the 3rd house always determines the general mental health. Matters of emotional firmness, stability, boldness, communication and clarity of mind is seen from here, especially the emotional attitude and the emotional context of all communication. Courage to Communicate! Your personal courage (3rd house) to fight your own internal secret destructive forces (8th from the 8th house) is again the 3rd. In most mentally disturbed individuals things start going downhill when he cannot speak out on what is bothering him. And he often has no one who he trusts (friends/cousins/brothers) to tell his worries to either. Both these are in the domain of the 3rd house counted from the ascendant for the physical environment and also the 3rd from the moon sign for the emotional context.

Psychiatric problems, an astrological perspective

Do check out the position of Mercury also. A harsh Saturn will shut him up, a magnanimous Jupiter will let him expand, both might trigger mental issues depending on the placement. Mercury is your thought processes, style of analysis, expectations from interactions, daily relations with family, work-mates etc and their responses. No communication (Saturn), anxiety, non-stop chatter (Moon), dominate by talk (Mars) and loops of talking to yourself in your head are all dysfunctional Mercury.

The 6th from Mercury can give insights on what will be those events which will trigger the Mercury into losing his balance and the 8th from, will be the effect of this event on the personality. Again Mercury is the analytical brain and the ability to think coherently.

So to determine the emotional stability of a chart these are the main indicators

  1. Birth Moon sign and house – overall emotional state
  2. The birth Mercury – the ability to think coherently
  3. The 6th from birth moon – sources of challenges to the emotional stability
  4. The 8th from the birth moon – the result of these emotional challenges
  5. The 3rd from the birth moon and ascendant too – the mental strength and the physical environment to deal with these challenges

A remedy for your sleepless nights

Sleep is the precious time when we rest and rejuvenate ourselves, our minds and our bodies. For some of us sleep is like a second nature and for some sleep is a rare luxury.

A remedy for your sleepless nights

In this post I will list out a few combinations which determine the nature of sleep and then for the insomniacs some very easy and doable remedies that will help you rest and recover in your sleep everyday.

The 4th and the 12th house from the ascendant in your horoscope. The 4th house signifies the “security” of our lives. For a baby this is obviously the mother, then the residence, the vehicles, landed property, the homeland and even the familiar customs of your people is “security”. For being able to sleep, you need to feel secure, thus check out this 4th from ascendant. So you see these “security” things go as a group, if you have had a good mother, you must have been able to sleep weel too, must feel rather patriotic and have a comfortable residence. Now an example, I have had a very curious client who was hyper alert always, it was like he was always on guard duty. It became so bad that I had him do a guided meditation to find out what was going on. So we found out that he had been a high ranking Mongol warrior in his past life and always battle ready. Once he knew the reason he was willing and able to work on it and eventually learned to relax.

Now to the 12th house, it is the house of the sub-conscious, the unconscious, the dreams and the unknowns. This house is the path or the bridge between the four different states of existence. Thus this house also deeply impacts ‘sleep’ and the energy workings related to sleep.

Then you should check see the positions of cancer and pisces signs in the horoscope and their occupant planets and the aspects on them. These 2 are the natural 4th and 12th thus their function corresponds to that of the 4th and 12th houses.

And then at last, for determining the emotional response to sleep and the comfort level of the sleep experience check out the 4th and 12th houses from your birth moon sign, their signs occupants and aspects.

Benefic planets like Jupiter influencing these above will guarantee you a deep restful sleep but presence of malefics like the rahu-ketu nodes will make the situation worse and affect your rest.

One more example, one of my clients had her Moon in Pisces in the 6th house (house of worry) and Saturn in the 12th. Saturn here was the owner of the 4th also. She was not very good at sleeping, waking up at the slightest noise/needing pitch dark to sleep, and on top of it was travelling astrally every night. So no sleep in the real sense for years.

And I have always noticed that people who suffer from sleeplessness due to astrological reasons always have badly cracked feet soles. 12th house and pisces also indicate ‘feet’. So a fun remedy could be going for regular pedicures. But on a serious note these persons often have ‘leaky’ feet chakras and auras ‘leak’ at the feet. I cannot describe it better than ‘leaky’. Energy drains from the feet. So take care of the energy of the feet.

A remedy for your sleepless nights

So what can you do if you are an insomniac for astrological reasons? Try any of these if you feel like..

  1. Check out your chart and determine if your sleeplessness really has an astrological basis.
  2. Light a sesame oil, cotton wick, small copper lamp on a monday morning thinking of the moon, reciting the moon beej mantra, “Om shraang shreeng shroung sah chandraya namah Om”, either once, thrice or 108 times.
  3. If you know reiki, before you sleep, draw all the symbols you know, on the soles of your feet and the back of your neck with the intention that you sleep and rest. Cup the soles of your feet in both your palms for a few minutes. Then cup both your hands at the back of your neck. Lock in your intention of being able to sleep at these places.
  4. Or if you do not know reiki. You can still do this, think of your favourite deity/god and ask him to power your intention of being able to sleep. Lock in this intention and power at the soles of your feet and the back of your neck as above.
  5. You can try Bach flower remedies and these work really really well. They are not medicines, not addictive and somehow work with your subconscious. Mix 2 drops of white chestnut in a glass of water and drink before bedtime.
  6. Do cleanse yourself with lemons, peacock feathers, sea salt etc and ground yourself regularly, walk bare-footed on a grass lawn or beach sea sand or moist ground at least for 1 hour at least once a week.

Sleep is extremely important and it needs to be natural in order to be effective. Sleep induced by sleeping tablets is not sleep, you are harming your body’s rejuvenation cycle by consuming those. So sleep, rest and rejuvenate!
