Siddhis occult powers and True Realization

Perhaps I am writing more on spiritual topics these days. But the influence of the planets is on me too. Sagittarius has his own ruler Jupiter back in it with Ketu. Saturn has come back to his own Capricorn and at present his father, the Sun is also with him. Mystic influences everywhere!

There was a question on occult powers and true realisation. It became too long an answer so posting it as full post and in very simple language.

When you do your spiritual practices, you access your own sub-conscious mind. These influences ‘activate’ your astral body and the inner most causal body. So the extra senses associated with them also become active. So you can do things with your mind and intention. I have written about clairvoyance, bio-energy, aura and stuff earlier. These all are not ‘super-natural powers’. These are very much natural and a part of yourself.

  • Eg suppose someone was blind from birth and with modern medical procedures he was made to see, ie his eyes were activated and now he can use them to see the world. For him, this eye-sight would be very magical, he can see colors and shapes etc. But for us this is not magic or super-natural it is just a regular sensory thing of the physical body. Similarly occult powers, ie ‘siddhi’ are all a natural part of your bodies. They will come naturally as you progress.

fedf73149d9c7e4aa02be12b240414b2

All spiritual aspirants eventually are able to do ’super-natural’ things. (I have written about this in my post on experiences in Dhyan.) And most of them get caught in the wonder of these things that they forget that there is more. This is a very real danger. As you do things with the power of your practice you may also use yourself up. If you act with intention, this can create new karmic knots for yourself ‘higher up’!

  • Eg, you break someone’s leg, this is on the purely physical levels, so the karmic balance will demand that your leg too gets broken. Ok, so it got broken, you went to a doctor who set it back. You wore a plaster and karma is done. Or you got a painful limp but the karma was done in one life.
  • Another example, you astrally attack someone and destroy his Anahata chakra. ie you extinguish the green light in the center of his heart chakra. This person will have heart problems and his ability to ‘give’ will suffer later in this life or the next. He will feel discomfort when he is asked to ‘give’ emotions, things etc. For the heart problems he will go to a doctor (if he has the means) but for the problems at the energy levels he won’t find a solution so easily, it will take a few lifetimes for him to recover. So when this karma comes knocking at your door, you too will face the same problems a few lives down the line. See, in this life you had access to the astral so you hit out, but it is possible that in that life you won’t be able to manipulate the astral. You won’t know what has happened or how to rectify it. This in itself, now can become a focal point for creation of several new karma!

So the ‘higher up’ you create karma, the worse is the entanglement. Spiritual aspirants should be very careful about acting with intention or with emotion as they progress higher. So all spiritual practices insist on taming the erratic mind first and foremost. The seeds of desire in the mind (Mano-vritta-asur) have to be faced by the mind/ individual soul (Indra) itself and annihilated. Else they will pop up in even higher levels in the spiritual route and take even more lives to rebalance.

There are some teachers who teach occult practices and how to develop siddhi. I would advise you to stay away from these teachers. These abilities are not a route to true realisation. They are the side-by, on the way type of things.

  • Eg you are on the way to a beautiful hill station (Moksh). On the route you see scenic views, lakes, etc (Siddhi) all very alluring. But do you abandon your goal of going to the hill-station and stop your journey at the lake? You might get a local guide who will try to entangle you in the beauty of the lake view, try to slow down or stop your journey but would you?

Siddhis occult powers and True Realization

I have written about Jupiter and Venus the Guru-s of the zodiac. Jupiter helps you gather your resources and expand them. Venus consumes these resources to power your jump towards your ‘desire’. This desire can be physical, intellectual/mental or spiritual, ie broadly three categories, depending on the soul’s personal evolution. Material desires require less resources and spiritual desires require the highest amount.

Just remember that the resources are limited by the power of your Jupiter. If you use all your resources to power your material desires, you may not have enough to power your intellectual etc higher desires. Or on the other hand if you hoard the resources till you get a huge amount, then you can use it all in one go to satisfy your higher ‘desires’.

  • Eg. Someone gets into physical affairs with several people. The satisfaction level naturally goes down with each successive encounter. He is using up all the resource in the material level itself. Such people cannot appreciate the higher intellectual/mental or the spiritual aspects of life.
  • Eg. Someone practices the piano the earliest years, rigorously. Denies himself rest or any other pursuits and dedicates himself solely to the piano, he becomes a Mozart! Creates great art!
  • Eg. Someone rejects the material life, becomes a Sanyasi. He hoards the resources to attain Moksh, he becomes a Jivan-mukt.

The ‘desire’ component is determined by Venus, where do you use the resources, how you use them and how far do you ‘jump’. This is the most deadly of the tests, as Venus presides over all sorts of one-one relationships from sexual partner, spouse, business, family, child, art, creative instinct, higher-Self etc. So many ‘desires’ then, which one do you choose? As always if you choose one category then you may not have resources for other categories.

  • Eg. someone is in a marriage and the spouse is unsuitable, perhaps the horoscopes do not match. But once married, esp. in traditional societies you cannot back out so easily. So he uses all his energy resource to sustain the marriage. The resources are used up maintaining the spouse. Nothing left over for other one-one relationships. This spills over into his business/ profession, into his relationships with his family/ friends and also affects his relationship with his children. He does not have the energy to appreciate the mental/ intellectual or spiritual facets of life. (Even if divorce is possible, pain does remain). Ultimately all this will result in self-castigation, regrets affecting his relationship with his own Self. Real tragedy.

So you need to choose the direction of your ‘desires’ very carefully. If you want the material, then do it with the intention that you are completely satisfied. Don’t mix things and expect higher satisfaction in a series of affairs. If you want to create great art, do so, focus, so that you are finally content with what you create. (Most superlative artists die early, as they are internally satisfied, the 2nd and 7th Marak houses show their effect). Great artists are ‘married to their art’, it is not just a phrase it is actually a marriage! If you desire to know your self spiritually do so with all your heart so that you can achieve it. Desires are meant to be satisfied, so go on satisfy your deepest desires.

But once you put yourself in a path, remember turning back or changing tracks may not be so easy. It all depends on the quantum of the resource/ Jupiter and the power of desire/ Venus and their axis in your chart.

And for the higher paths, the mental or spiritual path, you have to show your dedication by choosing that same again and again through several lives, only then do you get your desire very many lives later.

Siddhis occult powers and True Realization

I have written about Nija-Guru and Anya-Guru earlier.

Nija-guru is one single person or energy, you cannot have two or more Nija-guru. He is the Sat-Guru who directs you towards final Moksh in the most direct way possible. And Anya-Guru, who inspire and motivate you, help you gather your resources, but you know at your innermost levels that you cannot reach Moksh on their teachings, ie their teaching though may be very great, is not apt for you personally. So you are still in search for a Sat-Guru.

We should read stories of Guru-s from earlier times, it is instructive. A few examples, some of you might know these Guru-s,

  • Eg – Mata Anandmayi from Hardwar – Her Sat-guru was exclusively on the astral planes. She had no physically visible person as a Sat-Guru.
  • Eg – Shri Jnyaneshwar, author of the Jnyaneshwari a commentary on the Bhagwat Gita. He was a teenager when he wrote it. His younger sister was Mukta-devi, a small girl. One Chang-dev, a very high level siddha-yogi, challenged his authority. But it was Mukta-devi, who answered every question posed by Chang-dev, satisfied his soul. He fell at her feet and she accepted him as her disciple. He attained Moksh by her grace/ Guru-krupa.
  • Eg – Shri Raghunathpriya Maharaj was a high level siddha-yogi who would debate on spiritual matters (Shastra-arth) with others, the others would accept defeat. He challenged Shri Guruling-jangam Maharaj and lost. Then he accepted him as a Sat-guru and then by his Guru-krupa attained Moksh.
  • Eg – My own Sat-Guru was formally adopted at the age of 17yrs by the 25th pontiff of the Siddha-giri Math, Shri Virupaksh Kadsiddheshwar. He was taught all the highest and most secret levels of yog and sadhana and then made the 26th pontiff. But he did not achieve Moksh till the age of 29yrs, till he met his own Sat-guru Shri Siddharameshwar Maharaj. He too had gone to challenge his authority to speak on spiritual topics, but when he went there, he Saw and fell at his Sat-guru’s feet and achieved True realisation, Moksh at that very instant.

So meeting an Anya-Guru is one thing, he is like the Jupiter who will help you build your resources. Worthy of respect. But beyond, unless you get the spark (Venus) that a Sat-guru grants, you cannot attain Moksh. Some have been fortunate to have the most direct Sat-Guru at the very start itself and some have had to struggle to find that energy, eg above.

But the common theme is that your spiritual knowledge or siddhi, or yog, or sadhna or mantra-jaap etc are like firewood, stored and ready for use, the potential. To convert this stored potential into the infinite flames of true realization, you need the grace/guru-krupa of a Sat-Guru, the Nirvishesh Brahma itself.

Rahu Ketu analysis, if placed in the 5 /11 axis

Rahu and Ketu are completely astral graha, They do not have any existence in the physical dimension. They have no material results on their own. They influence the material only through the other planets they are linked to. Their actual results are almost completely astral in nature, they are the ‘desire to experience’ and ‘apathy to experience’ and represent the flow of experience throughout your several lives. Any placement of Rahu and Ketu will be influenced by the nature of the sign he is in, the owner of this sign and his power to give results and the other planets who conjoin/aspect Rahu/Ketu. The lunar mansion/ Nakshatra occupied by them also gives valuable insights into their effects.

There are two ways of analysing Ketu. Of these, how he will manifest his energy in your life will depend on the other planets, signs and houses.

  • One is disconnection from the individual self, detachment from the sense of self. He just experiences without any judgement. eg no children
  • And the second is no limits. This Ketu energy can increase scope as it is unimpeded by barriers. eg lots of children and child-figures like students.

The 5th and 11th axis deals with your personal intelligence and interaction with the outside world. This is perhaps the most important axis when it comes to energy, an incredible amount of energy is generated and used in this axis. So if you want to be good you can be really be the best and if you takes a bad turn you can be the worst of the lot. The karmic axis of Rahu-Ketu in this 5th/ 11th axis can create the most excellent human beings at one end of the spectrum or the worst ones, nothing in between.

Ketu in the 5th house

A strong Ketu here can confer a lot. Formal education may be in breaks or strangely disjointed with you taking random courses without a clear direction. Education is generally affected. If the 5th lord and the ascendant is well placed the education would be extensive but the use and awareness of what has been learnt formally would be limited.

This placement of Ketu drives the mind and its mental capacity inwards and you would be generally involved in esoteric stuff. Astrologers, spiritualists, occultists, tantriks are quite to be expected with this Ketu. Your intellect is enormous, Ketu is diffuse and separative, a paradoxial state. So the intellect can spread over and yet be incisive. But what exactly should you do with this intellect will be resolved only after midlife. Till then you might be considered to be a bit eccentric. You have very original and quite shocking ideas. These ideas will not materialise into reality unless Ketu is influenced by other planets.

The self-ego also is strangely fluid, you will be ego-less But at the same time know who you are exactly internally. May not express it though. Ketu in the 5th means that you have experienced these keywords of the 5th completely in your past lives and you have the deepest learnings associated with this house with you. But you will not be aware of it, if you can consciously focus it will be made available. But ‘consciously focussing’ and ‘headless Ketu’ together can get a bit difficult.

With love affairs two extreme things may happen depending on the other placements. No affairs, no relationships with humans and the search for a non-physical sort of a relationship with a deity or the higher self. Or no affairs but a formal marriage with limited physical contact. Or the other extreme, mindlessly into several relationships /marriages/affairs which are never satisfying. These relationships would be karmic in nature and you are quite passive about these.

Ketu in 5th makes you the shadow of your more outgoing husband/wife. The spouse if often from a different social/ cultural background. You don’t know how to have fun, most avenues of entertainment lose their attraction very fast. Your spouse can be a politician or someone very well-known in public, very passionate and visible. He is quite conscious about social position, recognition, gains, wealth etc. You on the other hand are not bothered about all this material stuff. You understand its importance, you move about in such environments but you are not moved by all these things. You might have to face losses because of your disinterest. You are your spouse’s shadow here, always present but never really seen. And you don’t mind it!

Children will be few, pregnancy and childbirth (if female) will be especially difficult. The children will be highly intuitive themselves. The eldest child especially may show occult talents or may have special needs. However this is rarely a ‘disability’ as far as his behaviour in society is concerned. But you might sometimes feel discomfort caused by his behaviour. You rarely punish your children/students, you observe and think very differently, your parenting style is a bit eccentric but can be genius. However this can as easily turn to negligence.

If you choose to venture into the spiritual, you will have limited real students. However you are a good teacher and can teach students with special needs, handicapped children, or students of the esoteric.

You are not bothered with expressing your creativity. There is no pride or no ego related to your creative output. (Should never gamble.)

There is one observation here, the 5th house indicates the physical heart. So there may be some medical conditions if aspected by malefics. Take care of your upper back too in such a case. (This in rare cases if there is support from the rest of the horoscope can allow the Kundalini to rise.) But as Ketu is completely astral his main effect is to create a sense of sadness, grief perhaps. You are psychically detached from divine love or perhaps the word is self-love? but you never know that you yearn for this sort of love. The essence of love? A sense of undefinable loneliness prevails over the Ketu of the 5th house.

Rahu in the 11th house

If Ketu is placed in the 5th house naturally Rahu would be in the opposite 11th house, 180degrees apart..

Rahu in the 11th house from the ascendant is a wish come true perhaps? Rahu in the 11th the house of gain, would have created ambitions in the initial life but Rahu comes to his maturity only after 48yrs of life. And the 11th is an upchaya  उपचय house, gives better results with age. The 11th is the house of gains, extended like-minded groups, markets, foreigners, luck, relationships with large groups, mostly impersonal type of relationships.

Rahu here desires social recognition, social mobility, often political power, a wide circle of friends, corporate networking, community participation, profits and gains, is very ambitious. Uses unconventional methods to rise but this rise can be sustained only if some benefic planet influences Rahu. Even if there are intermittent falls, Rahu uses them as opportunities and manages to rise again. He challenges the conventional always so in the 11th house he has infinite potential to showcase genius and also to manipulate. Rahu has the ability to merge in every group in a very fascinating manner. He accepts everyone into his circle, irrespective of class, creed or mind-sets.

But is important to remember that how-much-ever Rahu strives onwards the Ketu in the 5th house grants an unfocussed intelligence, an eccentric genius, there is detachment here. So if Ketu is more powerful than Rahu in your chart this factor can cause more falls in the material perspective than material gains. If your 5th house occupied by Ketu is not supported by other solidifying benefic aspects, you will not be able to make the most of Rahu’s capability. Rahu in the 11th makes one ruthless and grants a complete disregard for rules, conventions and regulations. Plus out-of-the-box thinking. You are actually a philosopher who also has the confidence and ruthlessness to act. You can strategise very well and also keep secrets. Can prosper in business, especially import/export related. Material earnings will be quite good in any case. There might be awards and prizes too.

If you try to gain using Rahu’s powers of illegality, breaking the rules, pretending, cheating and posing, your fortune will not last. So after a rather dissatisfied first half of life, the second half can fulfil desires. But what desires? The frustration of the first half of life and the maturation of all planets will have changed your mind-set. Spirituality would have set in and changed the type of desires which Rahu will then fulfil. This 5/11 Ketu-Rahu is considered exceptional for spiritual growth also. The personality tries to find its balance between the individual self-ego and the unlimited Consciousness. This combination can grant an outwardly simple ego-less plain personality, well-known in public life, a high social stature, is wealthy and also is involved in deep esoteric activities. (Something like a saint who is also a king, perhaps?)

The mother’s and father’s families are often a source of problems. Brothers and extended families are generally troublesome. Children display occult abilities or in rare cases can be specially abled. Spouse is a social climber, a politician or a successful businessman. Friends are also exotic, fascinating but not really life-time friends, they also are a bit odd, occultists and astrologer type, not really bff material! So there exists potential for invalidation from all relationships. ‘Validation’ is an important component of any relationship. This is always missing. Satisfaction is missing from every aspect of life, personal or the extended.

Sometimes complete destruction is necessary to rise again spectacularly. This placement sometimes reflects this as the first half of the life goes in a haze. The second half is more vivid and happy. Things will move after Rahu and Ketu attain maturity. You will see a marked change in your life during the age of 42-47yrs.

If you have Ketu placed 5th from the birth Moon and thus the Rahu 11th from Moon, the results will be as per the above except the context will be exclusively on the emotional planes.

Ketu Mahdasha and Rahu Mahadasha as per the Vimshottari system, will be quite happening periods. Especially Rahu-Ketu sub-period and Ketu-Rahu antardasha will be quite karmically heavy-duty. Their sub-periods in the other planet’s Mahadasha-s also will burn karma fast. Their transits are also quite slow with 1.5yrs in each sign, (right now they are in Capricorn /Cancer) so keep a look out here too. Periods heavy with Rahu/ Ketu energy will grant profits and gains but after their periods are complete these gains too may erode.

Doing mantra -jaap of Rahu and Ketu on Tuesdays/Saturdays and especially during eclipses is very beneficial. In fact you should aggressively use every eclipse which occurs, not let even one single event pass by.

Rahu is the engine which drives your chart and Ketu is the last guard-cabin. The desire to experience and apathy to experience. In energy-terms these are the influences which push your perfect internal energy -geometry out of shape. Life is all about experience and energy, so analyse these two astral tendencies, Rahu-Ketu carefully in your chart, they reveal your deepest motivations.

Have written about Rahu in the 5th and Ketu in the 11th house in this post.

Virgo and Pisces, the most sensitive axis – Part 2

I have written about the Pisces half of this axis part -1 here. This is now about Virgo, ruled by Mercury, the sixth sign of the zodiac. If you have your birth Moon or ascendant in Virgo or a significant bunch of planets in Virgo, this is what you will be on the internal subconscious levels.

Virgo and Pisces, the most sensitive axis - Part 2

Virgo is very typical sign, generally not happy, (absence of ‘happiness’, but is not unhappy!), perhaps ‘plain’ is the word? Virgo represents the ‘imbalance’ created by the use of the divine intelligence by the individual soul/Jivatma. We, our soul is divine, the Ultimate Reality/Parabrahma, but whenever we act with the tag ‘I did this‘, the law of karma comes into force. Self-ego hides the divinity of the soul under the tightest layer of the Anand-mai-kosh or Karan-sharir and we think of ourselves as helpless humans at the mercy of a callous fate.

Virgo/Kanya is represented by a human female figure. Mercury’s signs are represented by human figures none other, his other sign, Gemini has two human figures. Kanya also means ‘focus’. Virgo, then in this context would represent the bindings on the soul created by Desire (subtle roots of desire).

Imbalance created by personal-ego gives rise to Virgo. Usually Saturn is considered to be the ‘karmic planet’, everyone is oh-so-scared of Saturn. But you if you want to be scared of your karma, you should be scared of Mercury and his Virgo. This sign represents that part of your total karma which you have decided to balance out in your current life. Saturn is the one helping you pay this off with discipline, order and method.

As a Virgo, you are internally aware of this karma you have created and perhaps that is why you have this perpetual plain attitude of ‘not-happiness’. You know you are unbalanced, you know things are unfair and perhaps harsh. The force of your entire personality and your environment is directed to this one point agenda of converting this karmic imbalance to balance. ‘Treasure’ for you is represented by Libra, you want to accumulate balance, fairness, relationships and partnerships. But remember Libra at the spiritual level defines the ultimate in balance and partnership. What you really want is, to balance your own karma and find the only real, permanent and most valuable relationship, your relationship with your own Higher Self!

If Virgos are unable to understand this basic thing about their inner nature, this karmic imbalance and misalignment can lead to actual psychiatric problems in life.

The entire force of the Virgo personality, will and action desires to convert imbalance into balance. You are a collection of unbalance, we all are, unbalanced karma, failed promises, ruptured relationships etc spanning so very many lives. This sign represents all this and you are required to set this balance right! You have chosen for you a task of enormous magnitude, but then you do have the necessary resources from your past lives. You use your personal vitality, fire and divine intelligence in one brilliant burst of focussed energy in this lifetime to achieve the treasure of perfect balance and relationship with the self.

You may have access to all material pleasures, but you know internally that getting caught in these amusements can potentially lead to more karma. The last thing you want is to increase the imbalance you already are under. You feel the pin-pricks of karma from your past actions and you are required to suffer through them now. Virgo, owned by Mercury has all the advantages of Mercury’s brains, analytical power, databases, skill sets, database management, power to infer, logical thinking, working with others, power to act and work tirelessly. You have the capacity to make it big on the material plane but still you prefer to serve. Working off your karmic load is on priority.

Virgo and Pisces, the most sensitive axis - Part 2

You are quite passionate, but express yourself in a very low key manner. Others might think of you as a martyr or an idealist, more into planning, directing, encouraging and motivating others to act, rather than acting yourself. You are wary of acting, as you worry about creating more karma however inadvertently. Your materialistic life fails to satisfy just for this reason. You are receptive and can sense ‘other’ things too, thus you can be good at divination. You have the ability to sacrifice yourself for others and are quite sensitive, ambitious and zealous. But as your nature is defined by imbalance, you might feel like you are walking a tightrope most of the times. If you take up some regular spiritual practice you will be able to divert all these internal things to the spiritual realm and live a more adjusted material life.

You seem a bit pessimistic to others, but this too has a reason. Having a heightened awareness of karma, you are ready to give up everything that defines ‘self-ego’. You are aware that self-ego leads to this tangled net called karma and you wish to annihilate your limited sense of self.

Your assets are the agents of Capricorn and Taurus. They are the 9th from and 5th from each other, and act as the divine intelligence and foundation for each other in a cyclic manner (trikon). And the challenges that you will face will be presented by the signs and agents of Scorpio, Aquarius, Aries and Leo.

Scorpio will make you want control over secrets, you want to use secret knowledge, explore forbidden and hidden things, learn skills of the occult, work in the esoteric and the tantric. You desire control over all types of energies including the pran/kundalini in your body. And you will have the courage and boldness to work with these strange things too. Aquarius will ensure that you will be flooded by demands for service from so very many many sources. You will have to serve, counsel, help, be there for, an astoundingly large number of individuals. If you choose to not serve them, you will be forced to suffer through a surprisingly large number of events related to disease, debt, cheats, enemies and losses. If you won’t give your energy through service, these agents will take it by force. The more you give away, conversely the more you will gain in terms of your desired objective – balance. Your practice of the secret spiritual then becomes extremely important for you to replenish your energies.

Aries will create a strange mix of beginnings and endings together. Every action you perform will strangely seem to be complete as soon as you start it, and it will change you very deeply. At the lowest levels you may have to suffer through accidents or surgeries. And on the energy levels you may be targeted by entities or spirits, or you might suffer because of faulty movement of pran/kundalini in your meditative states. But challenges are to be welcomed and used as stepping stones to rise higher. You have the fire within you. You thrive on change as every change is one step forward to achieving the ego-less state. As the personal ego dissolves in the Divine Intelligence, you come to the end of your cycle. These challenges will be on the inner subconscious and spiritual levels and will ultimately benefit you. But on the physical levels these will be seen to be harsh, hard and often traumatic. If you can understand why this is happening you will be better able to cope. However be careful of over-ambition, stay away from bad influences/company, try to work without expectations and routine work even though boring is essential so be regular and consistent as far as possible.

Your mirror, the fill-in-the-blanks is Pisces. It is a karmic partnership where an outwardly dreamy Pisces mirrors a rational Virgo and equally likewise.

Virgo and Pisces, the most sensitive axis - Part 2

The Almost Kaal Sarpa

I have written about Kaal Sarpa in my post here. Kaal Sarpa Yoga is when the 7 graha, Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are hemmed in between Rahuand Ketu (the planets will be moving such that they will be exiting from the Rahu side of the axis, eg the planetary configuration on 15th Aug 2004).

Kaal Amrita Yoga is the other variant when the 7 graha, Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are hemmed between Ketu and Rahu. (the planets will be moving in a direction so that they will get out of the hemming from the Ketu side. eg check the configuration on 25th Apr 2020) This is just a technical distinction as I have not seen much of a difference in both these types of kaal-sarpa yog.

A complete kaal sarpa yog, which gives the most intense results, is when there are no graha in the houses containing Rahu/ Ketu and the ascendant sign is also hemmed in between them. ie Rahu and Ketu will be alone in the houses/ rashi that they occupy. ie No other planet will be modulating their energies by closely conjucting with them. The rest of the planets, including the ascendant will be on one side of this axis. This gives them full scope to give their full results.

If there are any planets in close conjunction with Rahu/ Ketu then they will modulate the nature of these astral planets and the intensity of the kaal sarpa combination is reduced.

The Almost Kaal Sarpa

However there is still something called partial Kaal Sarpa. In this there will be one graha or the ascendant sign itself outside the Rahu/ Ketu hemming.

The current times are more conducive to the formation of Kaal Sarpa as the slowest moving planets, Jupiter and Saturn are close together and on the same side of the Rahu/ Ketu axis. Rahu/ Ketu axis is exactly 180 degrees apart. Thus when, during the year, the rest of the faster moving planets join up on this same side of this axis, expect a pure/ partial Kaal Sarpa in the charts of children born then.

A partial Kaal Sarpa confers a lot of advantages, but your astrologer can make you do remedies for this too! So just understand more about how this works before blindly going and spending money on the remedies. Doing remedies, pujas etc is never wasted. Any action performed with intention will give its results. But it is better to know why you are doing this remedy rather than doing it blindly.

In a partial Kaal Sarpa combination, all the planets except a single one is hemmed in between the Rahu/ Ketu axis. All except one are on one side of the axis. This one outside graha has an extra effect on you. If the other planets are placed in good houses/ signs and support the horoscope as a whole, you can even be a world leader. Your personal sufferings in the process are reduced or are manageable. But if these others are weakly placed, you will be the oppressor yourself using the same energies to adversely affect other people. Also you suffer more.

In such a horoscope pay special attention to the position of Rahu. He is the direction of ambition and indicates the direction in which your desires lie. Revise the keywords of the chart here. The owner of Rahu’s sign, his conjunct planets and planets which aspect him will be caught up in his drive for ambitions too. Find your target groups here. Eg. If Rahu in the 4th, you will deeply desire emotional comforts and security. Thus you can be the agent who gives emotional security to others or you can be a parasite on others using their energies to support your need for emotional comfort. You will decide on being a ‘giver’ or a ‘taker’ depending on the placement of other planets and your own Conscious decision.

If your horoscope has such a ‘partial’ Kaal sarpa combination check out your potential depending on the one planet which is outside the Rahu/ Ketu hemming. These descriptions below are the best possible positive use of your potential.

Ascendant sign alone outside the axis – here the Kaal sarpa is considered to be completely nullified. This is because the personality itself as defined by the first house is outside the axis. I have seen that these individuals perform better because of the combined synergistic effect of the other 7 planets from the other side of the axis. The Ascendant house outside the axis somehow acts as a focus point for the planets. This is a good placement for leadership and prominent roles in the society.

Sun alone outside the axis – gives a strong foundation of intelligence, leadership and creativity. You can channel the sources of divine information and are capable of passing it on to your target audience. You will be creative and confident about presenting yourself too. The position of Rahu, his sign/house and house owner will indicate your target. You can be a morally grounded celebrity, political or religious. Such a Sun can increase your ability to take decisions which will help your target group. You can lead with ambition.

Kama Trikon of the horoscope, desires

The 12 houses of the horoscope are divided into the Dharma Trikon, houses 1, 5 and 9. The Arth Trikon 2, 6 and 10. The Kama Trikon 3, 7 and 11 and the Moksh Trikon 4, 8 and 12.

The root of this Universe is ‘Desire’, Kama. This word can mean the superficial sexual desire which also leads to creation of new life and can also mean the deep Desire of the Ultimate Consciousness to play a Game/Leela called Creation. This Sanskrit word ‘Kama’, is longing, love, will, purpose, deliberation, intention, desire, passion, wish, agreeableness, enjoyment etc, so many layers and layers of meanings depending on the intention of its use. The Nasadiya Sukta of the Rig Ved, (129th Sukta of the 10th Mandala) describes the creation of the universe as the desire of the ‘Unfathomable Intelligence’.

However coming back to the horoscope, the Kama trikon, Desire Triangle, is the houses, 3rd, 7th and 11th. The houses of Desire and everything to do with it. Now lets see how these three houses would mean ‘kama’. What makes up your Universe? At its foundation is the interactions between humans. Our Universe is not us alone, when we interact with others like us, we create and populate our Universe. Thus Kama is this, the desire to be connected to others in one way or the other. From this desire for interconnections the following expectations arise,

  • being financially well-off
  • having a personal source of income through personal job/trade/profession
  • being with siblings, cousins and enjoying a feeling of brotherhood
  • being with a spouse and sexual satisfaction
  • income sources through individual partnerships and network of communities.

Kama Trikon of the horoscope, desires

The Third House

The 3rd house from the ascendant is the house of extended family, neighbourhood and conversations. Our interactions in these limited intimate groups and our first step in the bargains of life is the domain of the 3rd. Our entire life is a series of bargains which lead to cooperation. I tell my son, ‘If you finish your dinner, I will tell you a story tonight’. This is a very agreeable bargain for both of us! Then as we get older we progress to making agreements with our friends, cousins and neighbours. If we make mistakes here they are forgiven and a second chance given to make-up and learn. The style of interaction in this House is one to relatively many, here we learn how to interact with the outer world as per our society’s customs and traditions.

Bhratru-Bhava, the house of brothers is ruled by Mercury. Mercury is the communicator, he is the adolescent who loves to be with his siblings and peer group. He is also the one who intelligently analyses data and classifies and learns from this. Here is where we learn how to deliberate, communicate, trade, cooperate and be bold. This house is also called the Parakrama, the house of boldness.

As we grow up the lessons from this house become the foundations of our self-earned wealth. And we desire our wealth because it makes our lives more comfortable. This house is the 2nd from the 2nd, the second is the house of family treasures. So the 3rd house uses the all resources you have available in the form of family good-will, treasures and reserves and uses them in trade and cooperation. You gain profits from the 3rd. You get an experience in trade, commerce and communication and you also learn how to be bold and courageous going about it. In this house you just don’t desire the money, you also look forward to the regular meeting of associates, the close friends and brothers. Desire is both human company and profit!

The 3rd from the ascendant tells you about how your interactions from these groups is going to be on the external social levels. eg If you have Saturn placed here, naturally it will be restricted, if Jupiter it will be extensive. However to know how these interactions are going to affect you emotionally you will have to check out the 3rd from the birth moon sign. Moon is the significator of the mind and in my opinion is sometimes more important. Eg If you have Jupiter in 3rd from ascendant but Ketu/South node at 3rd from moon sign in the chart, you will have extensive interactions with your large extended family but you will always feel detached/apathetic/dissociated from them.

The Seventh House

This house is quite easy to analyse, partnerships in every which way. These partnerships are ruled by Venus, the master negotiator. Venus also replays the same ‘human company and profit’ motif! Here however the human company is more limited to one-on-one and has to be legal. The 7th is also one of the four major foundations of the chart (the other 3 being the 1st, 4th and 10th).

The 7th is the house of all the relationships and interactions that are ruled by law of the land. Thus the legal marriage, matters of the law, court cases, business partnerships, interactions with government agencies, contracts in trade and all human interactions rising from these are the domain of the 7th. This house also governs the relationships with first legal husband/wife, children from second legal wife, maternal grandmother, paternal grandfather etc. Here as the house of marriage, our sub-conscious expects a balanced partnership based on our personal cultural legal environments. This is the house of agreements, contracts, negotiations, fairness and balance. This house desires human interaction through partnerships.

As the 7th has been hyped as the house of sexual pleasure so just a small note. Not all adults have sexual partners but all of us have one significant partnership. This can even be with a deity or an ideology. The 7th is the mirror of the self. It shows you the opposite that attracts you, fills your blanks. Seen in this context the 7th is an exchange of energy one-one between two who desire this as a karmic agreement.

The 7th counted from the ascendant, the planets located here, the position of the 7th house owner and the aspects of other planets, will determine how all these interactions play out on the external, conscious or social level. For determining the sub-conscious impact of the interactions of the 7th you will have to consider the 7th house from the birth moon sign. The 7th from the moon will determine the level of emotional satisfaction and comfort that is received in these extremely personal one-to-one interactions. eg. If you have Saturn placed here you will never feel fulfilment as Saturn constricts and restricts, on the other hand if you have Venus in the 7th house counted from your moon sign, you will always feel the harmony and beauty in all the human interactions governed by the 7th house.

The 11th House

This is the house of gain, profits and luck ruled by Saturn! Luck and Saturn, surprised? Saturn is the strictest karmic teacher of them all but he is the fairest. He will give you exactly how much you have worked for. This house of Saturn gives you all that you have worked for throughout the 1st to 10th houses of the horoscope so far. Thus the 11th is the melting pot of all the human interactions, cooperations, luck and gains in your horoscope. In the 11th you desire the entire network of energy interactions that you have invested in.

Here the interactions are not just limited to your extended family, or legal partnerships! This is like a tradesmen’s fair or a marketplace. You interact with diverse individuals, foreigners, risk-takers, travellers and everyone who shares your interests. Like-minded individuals together make up the 11th. So there is a gradual evolution, from customs-society regulated, to partnerships-legally regulated to common-interests which are now intellectually regulated. This is the real house of fulfilled desire as after the experience of the 3rd and the 7th you are now free to interact with and gain from associates you have chosen purely for their inclinations which match your own. You are not limited by traditions or what is legally approved. This is your house of karmic interactions with every energy in the Universe you have an affinity for!

The 11th from the moon should also be considered, as it stands for all you long for. If your moon is in the 6th house in Pisces, you will always yearn for emotional security, the mother, the homeland, familiar customs, the residence and mental comforts (keyword of the 11th from 6th i.e. the 4th house). Also you will want the father, the profession, the reputation, recognition in the society, and to reach the top of the organisation by working hard for it (keyword of the 11th sign from Pisces i.e. Capricorn). Whether you get it or not depends on the aspects and planets situated here.

This post is about the kama, the desires and the attractions which is in the domain of the mind. The Moon is the mind, and the most important placement in the horoscope is the sign/house of the birth moon as here is where you emotionally perceive what is happenings around you. You could be a king and sad if your ascendant is powerful and moon weak, or you could be a beggar but happy if your ascendant is weak but your moon is strong! So when you analyse the desires of your life as expressed in these 3 houses, 3rd, 7th and 11th do look at the emotional components too. Longings denied and frustrated can have very deep impacts on your psyche. Analyse yourself, try to come to terms with what is allotted to you so that you can find ways to make it better.
