Development of a child’s Chakra energy

We evolve always. From the moment of birth to the moment of death, then till we are reborn again we evolve. Our energies increase, refine and again. Our energy structure changes with time and our experiences. A new baby born is at very basic levels of consciousness, he goes through several sequential changes till his 7th birthday. At the 7th birthday he is considered to have half way entered society. This post is from the reference books and also my experience in observing my own son, my nephews/nieces and random babies. So a quick post on how a baby evolves in the first 7yrs of his life.

When a baby is born, till his 1st birthday the idea is survival. The Muladhar chakra is most active. The baby learns the essential things related to personal survival. He wants, he grabs stuff. He is like an animal in this sense, he breathes, eats and wanders about aimlessly, nothing much more than that. His parents teach him simple things which he learns with much effort. He is in fact more a pet than a full-fledged human being.

Then in the one year till the 2nd birthday the Swadhisthan chakra things are brought into expression, baby now has the glimmerings of understanding. He has come up from his basic animal stage and now he understands emotions. If you scold him he knows why and if you praise him he knows why too. The seeds of the Swadhisthan chakra show their first basic expression. He wants to be cuddled and if you ask him for a kiss he responds with pleasure. These are very subtle observations but if you pay attention you can easily see.

In the 3rd year of life the child expresses his ideas. You sense that your son has a sense of self, there is fire within. You might see his first temper tantrum in this age. Not the regular crying, that starts from day one! But the sense of ego, an understanding of insult. He wants a toy, you refuse to get it. Now his sense of self is offended and he expresses it! The Manipur chakra has come to play.

The 4th birthday sees an increase in understanding, sharing and community concepts are put in as the Anahata chakra is powered on. eg If you ask him to share he will share with you out of an understanding. There is expansion. The expression of the chakra is still in its basic state but it has started. Try asking your 2month old baby to share, he won’t understand anything. But a child at 3-4yrs of age will share or not but based on a understanding on what ‘sharing’ means. Now he recognises that something called community exists.

The 5th year of life and the Vishuddhi chakra has developed. In this period of 4-5yrs the child matures in an indefinable way. He knows that in life things can come and also go. Now he wont cry so much if his favourite toy breaks. He us less possessive. He has realised that things can end. Some things are good/not-good. You can see the glimmerings of the adult that he is going to be. This has happened gradually but definitely over one year.

By the 6th birthday, the child has a sense of purpose, it is quite dim but it is there. He can develop his own priorities. If he demands something it is not from ego alone, he feels that thing to be important to him in some way. You can ask him to plan things and he will be able to. The Ajnya chakra has developed its basic function and is expressing itself. Allocation, how much do I have and how do I use it best. The child is evolving.

Then comes the most important year of his life, the period from the 6th to the 7th birthday when the Sahasrara chakra gets its finishing touch. The highest divinity expresses itself in the chakra system. This year is extremely important. In this year the boys are taught the Gayatri mantra and wear the Brahma-sutra. The girls are taught the Gayatri mantra but they don’t need to wear the Brahma-sutra. The children start Gayatri puja and now onwards are a part of society albeit in a small way. Now his own karma start affecting him. Till the 6th birthday the child is on the boundary of the past life and the current life. If he suffers some illness or dies it is not because of his karma but a reflection of the parent’s karma. As the child starts his/her Gayatri puja he/she stops being dependant on the parents for energy.

A child needs to be carefully and intelligently nurtured for the first 7yrs of his life. Whatever experiences he goes through in these 7years leaves a very deep imprint on his energy structure. This is the first foundation cycle of the chakra development.

In ancient times, the child would be sent to the Gurukul, the school-house of the Guru, at the 7th birthday. The child is now receptive to learning. His chakra system is now fully active and he can now take in external teachings and experiences more effectively. This child would be in Guru-kul for the next 7yrs. This next cycle of 7yrs sees the chakras taking in influences very readily. Not so easily as the first cycle of 7yrs, but the child is still malleable and the Guru molds his mind and intellect very carefully. The formative concepts of spirituality, conduct, Dharma would also be instilled here.

The child would return to the parent’s house at the age of 14yrs. Now the third cycle of the chakra evolution begins as the child is taught a profession. In the ancient times, the child followed the parent’s profession, so the boy-teenager would be an apprentice learning from his parents/ peers/ elders. The girl-teenager would be taught how to run a house-hold. Contrary to what some people think, managing a house-hold is a full-time job in itself, even now. Here too he/she receive an education but it is a functional education. Generally at the end of this period he/she is married off. Marriage is considered to be the Sanskar (a correct action) where a person formally and completely enters the society.

(There is one option here, if the person wants to take on a spiritual route and become a Sanyasi in the full-time pursuit of the Ultimate, he/she renounces the society towards the end of the third 7-yr cycle. Taking up Sanyas before this age was not considered.)

This 7year cycle is very deeply ingrained into the energy body as well as the physical body. Every year of your life, one chakra is in special focus. You might not be so aware of this at your current age, but it is obvious in the first, second and third cycles till the age of 21yrs. One thing you can observe if you have a small baby. Whatever experiences he has had in the first 7yrs of life will subtly repeat in every 7yr cycle. Eg if in the 1st yr of life he had some severe health problem, you will see its subtle repetition every 7th year after that, eg in the 8th yr you might see that his health is genuinely not well. In the 15th yr he might be slightly physically ill but more mentally upset. The intensity of the echo will diminish with every 7yr cycle.

Modern biology also says that every 7years our every body cell is replaced/renewed. They are actually measuring the 7yr cycle of the Muladhar chakra related to the physical body. If they could but see the energy, they could also notice the cycles of the 7 chakras, but then if they start seeing energy, they would stop being scientists and become seers/Rishi-s!

Men are men and women are women

This post is in part response to this comment I received in the Contact form,

(I read an article which mentioned about our age and chakras. Are chakras related to our chronology like one chakra is dominant or something? Also what is meant by opening chakras?)

Will write about the ‘opening chakras’ part in my next post.

Reiki attunement, about the risks

I read a post on fb, where an expecting lady wrote that she got a Reiki attunement done during her pregnancy. Most of the responses were congratulating her, saying that its super that the child will be born psychic! One response was from someone, writing that she got her 6yr old initiated into Reiki and saying that the child is beautifully attuned to seeing emotions.

So utterly clueless.

I am a Reiki teacher so are 3 of my brothers/cousins. So I know quite well what it is and how the initiation process happens.

This is what happens during a Reiki initiation, very briefly. The teacher first cleans out his own aura and stills his mind. Then he clears the room/space by whichever cleansing method he prefers. He calls on the Reiki teachers of the past and requests help from his own source of faith also. Next is to clean out the aura of the student. Then the energy level of the student is brought to the level of the teacher. The aura of the student is ‘opened’ using specific Reiki symbols. The Reiki symbols give access to the energy system of the student. The chakras are accessed and the symbols to be given in the initiation are inserted inside them. The energy body of the student now changes, the flow of vital energy changes its ‘flavour’. The chakras of the hands are opened so that the symbols get connected here too. The entire thing is now sealed. Then the aura is closed and the initiation is done.

After initiation, the energy flow in the body alters significantly and this change is permanent. Even if there is some problem with the teacher, the space or the student, the symbols always work. The initiation will be successful but the overall experience will become uneasy and this will have a subtle impact on the student’s energy self. And then after the initiation is complete, the teacher gives his blessings to the student. During initiation the teacher generally gets a message from the Universe/Reiki which he tells the student. This message is very important and brings about a deep change in the mind-set of the student. This is generally linked to some significant event/issue from the student’s past lives.

The Gayatri mantra

There are a few important points which have to be understood here. It is assumed that the teacher knows these things. But the problem is with such a proliferation of energy-teachers and healers you cannot be sure if the teacher really knows what he is doing. And it is important that the student understands these things.

First of all the teacher.

The teacher should be someone who is doing his own spiritual practice and is able to still his mind. He should be of a higher energy level that the student. If your personal energy is higher than that of the teacher it will be quite an uneasy experience for you.(Long ago, one of my Dad’s friends was insisting he learn Reiki from him. Dad was not interested but as I was sitting in the room, he casually asked me if he should learn energy-healing from him. I was in school and didn’t know what ‘learning Reiki’ meant. But it was obvious that Dad was huge on the energy levels and his friend was nothing. I said no! so strongly that I still remember that incident till now.)

Then getting a really knowledgeable teacher who understands what he is doing can be quite difficult. I would never do initiation for someone who is not 18yrs of age. During initiation, I am manipulating someone’s aura in a very deep way. Actually inserting intentions ie the symbols inside the chakras! The aura is protection, its job is to filter everything from the physical universe before letting it within. Opening someone’s aura is making him so deeply vulnerable, I cannot describe it in words. The direct access to the chakras is another extremely sensitive step. So the student should be an adult, he should understand what is being done and then he should agree. The mental state of the teacher is very important. If he is personally upset, the process will be affected, eg if he is unwell or has had an argument with someone etc. Also if by ill-luck you meet an unscrupulous teacher, he can implant suggestions inside your aura in your chakras. So do a through check on the Reiki teacher first.

Second is the space.

Initiation is to be avoided when the atmosphere is heavy with energy. Eg a rainy day with thunder and lightning. Or on full-moon or no-moon nights or the dark fortnight of the Bhadrapad month (pitru-paksh) when the spirits are more active. Or twilights and eclipses. Avoid such days of dense energies. This is the teacher’s duty to check if the environment is conducive.

Third is you, the student.

This is attunement, you are getting a new type of energy to resonate in your energy body, so you should prepare your body, mind and soul for this new energy modality. This means asking the teacher all that you want to know, in addition to what the teacher is teaching. Ask questions. Learn about the process and how you can use this energy later. At least for a week before you have your initiation scheduled, do some mediation, deep breathing exercises, eat light food, avoid alcohol and stimulants. This will ensure that you will be able to make the most of the initiation process.

For women.

There is a constraint, no initiation on the 5 days of the monthly cycle. The chakras are moving in the anti-clockwise direction at this time. No initiation when expecting. A pregnant lady should not do anything to her energy body while she is expecting and at least for 3 months after the baby is born. She should not be sitting on her Asan, no Dhyan, no manipulation of pran, no attunements of any healing modality or anything that causes any change to her energy body. During pregnancy the baby-soul moves into the astral body of the mother and is aware of everything that is happening to the mother on every level, physical, astral, psychic, energy etc. Being made in the womb is a rather painful process, the body of the baby is being formed/ broken/ re-formed and it causes pain. However the baby-soul links itself to the mother and draws support from her in every way. The mother should not give the baby-soul any energy shocks. When her aura, her chakras and her energies are get manipulated the unborn child is also affected.

The Gayatri mantra

Then children.

A child should never be exposed to any sort of energy surges or any intentional modification in his energy channels/chakras. A child is still in the process of development. Till the age of 14 – 16yrs, ie till the child attains physical maturity he/she is still being formed, the energy channels are still delicate and fragile. (18yrs onwards is best, full growth is done with and he is an adult now). Anything out of the ordinary in the childhood will cause energy fluctuations in his body which will have effects on his pran-mai-kosh/ subtle body and can carry on to the next life too. A child till the age of 7yrs is on the border-line, he has not yet completely forgotten his past life and neither has he begun to fully identify himself with his present personality. He still retains the ability to sense the psychic, the astral realms. If in this unformed state you push an attunement on his energy body it can cause very deep seated problems.

Children can see auras, energy, spirits and ‘other’ things, but as a non-intentional ability, mainly for self protection. (eg I have a pleasant, high energy aura, random babies look at me, smile at me and come to me without a murmur. One of my past driver had a grey-streaked aura, my son never could sit in the car when he was driving.) This ability to sense the astral dimensions disappears naturally at 3-6yrs of age. Now if you make the child aware about these things, he can start using it consciously and eventually attract predatory entities etc.

Children give their energy very easily. If you initiate your child into any energy healing modality, he can give without being aware of it. This can be very dangerous.

Then we, in our cities, are surrounded by negative energies, sick depressed people, unsavoury thoughts in the mind, in addition to the regular spirits, ghosts etc. Why make your child see these things consciously? The child cannot stop seeing now. he will see it all the time! There is a reason why this ability to see the psychic is lost at age 3-6yrs, it is not for everyone. If you work with energy realise that you are required by karma to do so. It is nothing very exciting or special. It is just work, like anything else. Sometimes it is quite helpful, but sometimes it becomes a burden. Intentionally modifying the energy channels of a child and an unborn baby when he has no say in the matter and does not understand what is happening is a crime.

The pregnant lady went and got herself attuned and so did the 6yr old child, presumably they did not really understand the process. And the teacher too allowed and participated in this highly unethical Reiki initiation.

Working with energy is not for everyone. It does sound very exciting but it is quite serious. There are several healing modalities like Reiki, magnified healing etc. So if you do choose to take up energy work and get initiated into something do think twice about why you are doing it. What is your objective. Then do research about the credentials of the teacher. And then prepare yourself so that you can make the most of the experience.

Assisted reproductive technology and Adoptions

Having children, raising them, nurturing them, giving them Sanskar/the right foundations in life and then taking joy in their achievements is a very deep need for most of us. Well raised children are an asset to the society and are a way of giving back to the society. We benefit from our society; our safety, security, cultural activities, financial transactions, human inter-personal relationships, religious and spiritual activities etc are all based on the society we live in. So when we raise our children well we are contributing to the continuance of such an enabling society.

Assisted reproductive technology and Adoptions

Children are also our support as we age. As we have cared for them when they were babies, they have the responsibility/Dharm to take care of us in our old age/second childhood. Our children carry our DNA, our genes, our culture, our traditions, our life values and are our way to immortality. Our genes live forever with our children and their children. And thus we also are similarly our ancestors, their blood flows in our veins.

Astrologically, a child is the ultimate expression of your creativity. You first physically create your baby with your husband/wife, then emotionally create, as you nurture your baby with your love, and you are also laying down the emotional context of his lifetime. As you perform the Sanskars/rituals from Garbhadharan/preconception to Vivah/marriage for your child you are laying down the spiritual foundations of his life too. Thus you create your child. The adult he will grow into will be based in the intelligence and spirit you have given him. Thus having a child is primarily the domain of the 5th house of the horoscope.

To have good healthy children the 5th house needs to be examined in detail,

  • The nature of the sign placed here, – e.g. if fiery less number of children, dual signs = more children, watery = more children etc.
  • The planets placed here and aspecting – nature of the planet, male/female planets, several or few planets, malefic/benefic, debilitated/exalted, retrograde, combusted etc. also the signs/houses they own, eg, the lord of 12th house placed in 5th will not give good results.
  • The owner planet of this sign, his placement and comfort levels. This placement is important, if he goes into the 6th, 8th, 12th houses its not good. Aspects on him also matter a lot, also the planets he is conjunct with. If conjunct with Jupiter several progeny, if with Saturn restrictions, Ketu might cause miscarriage, abortions etc.
  • To get the emotional context and sense of attachment. Also how will your children respond to you on the emotional level and will you feel stability and security from them. For all this analyse the 5th house from the birth Moon sign.
  • And for the total creative potential of the 5th house available to you in this life, analyse the 5th house of your Navamsha/ 9th divisional/ D-9 chart.
  • The 5th sign of the zodiac is Leo ruled by the Sun, so the sign Leo and Sun wherever placed in the horoscope will also have its tiny influence here.
  • To do a complete analysis of this house or if it is empty, or without aspects read this post.

Then the reproductive organs of your body are controlled by the 8th house. So to check the health and proper function of these analyse the 8th house also. Again Scorpio and Mars wherever placed will subtly influence the matters of this house.

Then the auspiciousness of this process of having and raising children a a whole, is your luck with you? Do you have the blessings of your ancestors to carry forward their and your DNA? This is the domain of the 9th house. This house has to be well placed in order to have good, auspicious and lucky children.

Assisted reproductive technology and Adoptions

Now if there is a problem in any of these houses, there will be a problem with reproduction, progeny may be delayed, denied, may fail, may result in handicapped children, early death of children, no male children (extinguishing the Y chromosome of that family) or children who are a disappointment to the parents and a disgrace in the society.

In cases where natural reproduction fails, people turn to ‘test-tube’ babies and assisted reproductive technologies (ART). There is a proliferation of ART clinics, practically every street has one! From an astrological point of view this is not the correct way to go about having progeny. A failure in natural reproduction means the chart is unbalanced. Now if you go and create a baby in a lab, you might think you have got what you wanted. But you have still not addressed the problem in your chart, so do not expect this child to be the child of your dreams! When a couple goes for ART, they are not in the best of emotional conditions, knowing that you are infertile causes intense anguish, frustration, a sense of inferiority etc. Then during the entire pregnancy these feelings and added to the sense of fear about the pregnancy/complications, dread, continuous monitoring by the hospital etc add to the mental turmoil. Now imagine this pressure/negativity on the developing child in the womb!

Whenever I get horoscopes for matching and if the couple comes over to discuss their charts, I always advise them to have a child as soon as possible, within a year or two of the marriage. There is an astral reason for this, within a month of the marriage for Hindus (Sanatan Dharm), there is a Sanskar/ritual called Garbhdharan/conception where the couple is powered with mantras and intentions to have happy healthy babies. Also during this Sanskar the astral self/souls of their babies are invited. They come and wait near the parents. If they are forced to wait for too long they sense the rejection and move away. Then conception can get difficult.

However, now if you do not have an option and are trying ART for having your baby, there are a few things which must be done by both you and your spouse, consider it as an ‘astrological remedy’. Start these mantras at least 1 month before you start your ART, continue it as long as you can even after the child is born. This should be started on any Friday, morning or evening twilight in the bright half of the month/Shukla paksha. (Twilight/Sandhyakaal is 45 minutes before and after sun-rise and sun-set). I know that life is very busy and it may be difficult for both parents to manage this time together. So at least the first day you start, do this together, this will take about 10 mins. And after that listen to the mantras as per the time convenient to you.

This mantra puja will balance out the charts, so that you are able to get the best possible energies in your bodies/ mind/ spirit and also in your baby.

  1. The couple should invoke Santan-Laxmi – This is the aspect of the Mahamaya Shri, who is responsible for preservation and continuation of the manifested world, by granting progeny. You want to be a father/ mother, this is not just a physical activity, it has emotional and spiritual aspects too. If your doctor is taking care of the physical aspects, so you should mindfully take care of these deeper aspects yourself.
    • Om ayikhaga vāhini mohini cakriṇi, rāgavivardhini ṅñānamaye guṇagaṇavāradhi lokahitaiṣiṇi, saptasvara bhūṣita gānanute | sakala surāsura deva munīśvara, mānava vandita pādayute jaya jayahe madhusūdana kāmini, santānalakṣmī twm pālaya mām ||
  2. Then the husband should recite the Purush Sukta. If you cannot recite it, listen to this recitation with pure intention.
  3. And the wife to recite the Shri sukta or alternatively listen to this with full intention, focus on your desire to have a happy, healthy child.

You can also, if possible, be compassionate and do some charity at the local orphanage, by distributing sweets /fruits /toys /books etc to the children there. This will accelerate your personal healing process.

Now the second option that the couple has in this situation is adoption. Here though the child will not carry your DNA, it will still carry your name, traditions, culture and life values/ Sanskar. It will still be an expression of your creativity and intelligence and be governed by your charts. So before adopting a baby also do fortify your charts with energy using the same mantras as above.

Third option is surrogacy. Here the child is your biological child, but given in the care of another woman for the first 9 months of its life. Technically this child has 3 parents. All three should recite or at least listen to these mantras for the child to get the best possible start in its life.

And I have seen another effect of these Mantras, when you get your first child by ART/ surrogacy/ adoption and you accept him with all your heart and soul, the mantras can work so well that your second child may even be born naturally. If this happens do not reject your first child, both children are yours, the first one more so because your soul accepted him and his coming changed you at every level.

Mantras have the power to change. Depending on your intention and desire they will give their results. So believe that you can change your circumstances. It is the most powerful tool you have in your hands, use it!

(Now there is one tiny point where the person has no biological children despite a very good 5th, 8th, 9th and a nice chart. This is very frequently seen in highly creative and spiritual persons. These are extraordinary individuals, whose 5th supports creativity and intelligence channelised from the divine to such a degree that they create children of the soul. For e.g Seers/Sadhus are ‘second fathers’ and have disciples (dwij- those who have been born twice) as progeny, these ‘children’, do not carry their Guru’s/spiritual-father’s DNA but carry their teachings, which represent their ‘essence’ more strongly than their DNA.)
