More on Eclipses and their astrological results

Eclipses are important astronomical events where the Lunar nodes intersect the apparent position of the Sun or the Moon in the sky. Rahu or Ketu occult the luminaries and obscure their light. These events are important for those who are actively engaged in spiritual practice and if you do any Mantra-Jaap or energy ritual during this period it will be successful/ accomplished (Siddh). Eclipses release a significant chunk of energy which if not utilised mindfully, will cause temporary imbalances in your life.

Eclipses can occur in clusters, often a lunar eclipse will be followed immediately by a solar eclipse and 2-3 eclipses can occur one after the other within a span of 2-3 months. In such cases the effects of the eclipse energies will continue for extended periods.

Solar eclipses are always more powerful than Lunar ones. During the Solar eclipses, the Moon’s energies are already absent, it is an Amavasya, a no-moon night, already bursting with energy. A solar eclipse is when the Moon comes exactly between the Earth and the Sun. A partial solar eclipse occurs in the polar regions of the Earth when the center of the Moon’s shadow misses the Earth. If all three are aligned perfectly it then becomes a complete solar eclipse. The energies are more intense if you are within the eclipse zone. Eclipses occurring elsewhere do not influence you so much. A complete eclipse obviously releases more energy than a partial one.

Here is how you ascertain the effect of a solar eclipse (or even lunar eclipse) on your horoscope. Find out the Ascendant sign, Moon sign and Sun sign of your personal horoscope. (Vedic/ Indian software)

  • The ascendant sign indicates your physical and manifested reality.
  • The Moon sign represents your sub-conscious, astral self, your emotions and psychological effects.
  • The Sun sign will represent your personal ego, creativity, divine inspiration etc.

Find out the sign in which the current Sun in transit is in the sky. i.e. the sign of the zodiac in which the eclipse is due to occur.

  • Now count from your ascendant sign till this Sun’s current transit sign to get the effect on your physical environment
  • Count from your birth Moon sign to this sign in which the eclipse is occurring to get the effect on your mind and emotions.
  • Count from your birth Sun sign to this sign which will have the eclipse to get the effect on your overall well-being.

Two special cases here, Cancer and Leo signs owned by the luminaries. Wherever they are placed in your birth horoscope, those aspects of your life will be affected. eg if your ascendant sign is Libra, your Cancer will be the 10th house so expect turbulence in your work and social activities. Then the Leo will be in the 11th house so expect sudden changes in your financial gains.

Sun rules Leo, so for some time before and after a solar eclipse, Leo sign suffers. Depending on which aspects of your life it represents, you may be suddenly depressed, lack vitality, health may suffer, sudden losses in financial transactions, insomnia, lack of mental peace, quarrels etc. If Leo is in the Ascendant /Moon /Sun sign you will feel even worse. You will regain your energy a few days after the eclipse, however it is best to be careful for at least a fortnight.

Moon owns Cancer. So if your birth Moon sign or ascendant sign is Cancer you might be even worse off. Cancer borns are closely linked to the Moon transits and in addition feel the effects of the no-moon/Amavasya and full-moon/ Pournima more intensely. You have to be careful. If Cancer is in the Ascendant or Moon sign in your horoscope take special care of your physical body, immediate environment, do not engage in dangerous sports, be careful around ‘liquids’, e.g. blood related conditions, do not go for swimming, refrain from over intake of alcohol, etc around eclipses. If its is your birth Moon sign then you will feel the emotional effects, your astral body bears the brunt. Sleep might be affected, disturbed dreams and astral travel can make it difficult for you. I have observed that Cancer-Sun’s are also affected to some extent.

If the eclipse is occurring in the actual sign in your Ascendant/ Moon/ Sun house or in the house diametrically opposite from this, here are some general indications, (1st and 7th axis). An eclipse in the 1st-7th axis can also cause death depending on the individual horoscope.

  • An eclipse in the actual house involves your personality and your environment. If Rahu is placed here you will over-do the things associated with your own self, unnecessary risky activities getting you into trouble. So try to remain balanced and act logically. If Ketu is here then you will ignore things which are actually important to you and thus get into trouble. Try to focus even if you don’t feel like, go through things twice so that you don’t make avoidable mistakes.
  • Eclipses in the house opposite will affect your legal partnerships, marriage and businesses. Again depending on if it is Rahu or Ketu influencing this house you will feel your legal partner’s behaviour changing temporarily. He might try to over-whelm, dominate, cheat you or get disinterested and temporarily break up with you. Finances may be affected. Either way remember that the eclipse effects are temporary, so you should not overreact and make the situation worse.

An eclipse in the 2nd-8th axis. Just a few lines to help trigger your own thought process.

  • Eclipse occurring in the 2nd house can cause financial difficulties or wind-falls. Separation from the families or intense family times. It can also time the death event so should avoid taking unnecessary risks. There will be scope for increasing social visibility depending on if Rahu/Ketu gets placed here. Rahu is attraction and Ketu is apathy. So in the couple of weeks before and after the eclipse be careful of your financial situation do not take risks on this front.
  • Eclipses in the eighth house can cause accidents, surgeries, healings or death. These are intense energies and the 8th called the ‘Randhra’, this means a vulnerable or assailable point. Anything connected to the 8th becomes your vulnerable point. Or a point of vulnerability which you can sense on others and use. You might benefit by deaths of others or secrets of others. Hidden opportunities might be made available to you but do refer to your conscience before actually taking advantage of these. You might gain or lose but on a very intense scale.

Eclipse in your chart’s 3-9 axis.

  • The 3rd house is the choices which are available to you in life. If Rahu – eclipse is in your 3rd house you might see options in life opening up and you might be tempted to take more risks here. Speculations might give short term gains so take care to capitalise on the few weeks of eclipse energy. If it were Ketu-eclipse in the 3rd your interactions in the neighbourhood and extended family can cause issues. So be alert and nip things in the bud before they erupt.
  • An eclipse in the 9th house can cause turmoil in the life-foundation. This can be a crisis in the spiritual life which will open more options for you in your inner philosophical development. You might suddenly get very overtly religious or shun religion altogether. You opinions and understanding of what is good/bad, moral/immoral will be shaken up and questioned. Ancestral debts, spirits may come up and you might be required to pay them.

Eclipse energy in the 4th and 10th house axis can release a lot of useable energy if you harness it well, else the potential problems can be quite bad.

  • The 4th is connected to emotional and physical security. All eclipse events always affect your sense of comfort. You are forced out of your comfort zone, as unpleasant and heavy energies are triggered around you. There may be a crisis in your home, your mother, lands, properties. Vehicles can be affected do not take risks while driving. You might buy or sell some of the things which provide you with emotional/physical security.
  • An eclipse in the 10th house can give gains on the social front, you might be recognised for your work, maybe a bonus. Here Rahu and Ketu both can give good results if Saturn or the 10th house owner is well placed.

Eclipse energies in the 5th and 11th houses can confer rare opportunities to showcase your genuis.

  • If Rahu is occulting in the 5th house, you might be impelled to put yourself in the public eye, to express your creativity, glamour and glitz. Gambling and similarly high risk activities will attract. However you should remember that the window of opportunity will be short so make the most of it, know when to stop. Try to not break too many rules. Ketu if occulting in the 5th can cause initial gains but then this can turn to sudden failures because of disinterest. However gains on the spiritual front are quite possible.
  • Eclipses in the 11th house will bring you in the focus of everyone who knows you in some way or the other. You will gain material stuff if Rahu is active here, gains of every sort. You can do more as you are given more freedom. Ketu here can give short term gains of high magnitude. So if you have an eclipse on the 5th/11th axis of your birth chart, be ready to take advantage of the opportunities which will turn up.

Eclipse energy in the 6th-12th axis. This is the most sensitive axis of your horoscope. Karma overload and demands for service. Health should be carefully monitored during the weeks before and after an intense eclipse in the 6th -12th axis of your birth chart.

  • The 6th house is the karma you have chosen to rebalance in this life. You are very sensitive here as imbalance reigns here. Ghosts from your past, disease, debts, enemies will be brought into the foreground. You might fall more ill or might recover from some long standing illness. This will depend on your own horoscope and if it was Rahu/ Ketu placed in that house during the eclipse.
  • The 12th house is loss of the physical and gain of the astral. You will suffer some pain, sleep and rest will be affected. Disturbances in dreams astral travel etc is all possible. Life threatening incidents are possible.

So if there are eclipses around, do some spiritual practice or some mantra-jaap of Rahu/ Ketu and the Sun/ Moon. Use the energies of the eclipse, a huge chunk of energy is literally exploding across the skies during this period. If you do not channelise this energy properly with your conscious intentions it can cause disturbances in your life.  Eclipses occur very rarely so why this emphasis on them? That is because these events release humongous amounts of energies in a very short span of time, hours. If you use them actively, you can catapult yourself to such unimaginable heights.

Argala, Blockages in Jyotish

There are so many ways you can use your horoscope to pull even more information. And because there are not many Jyotishis left who know and then who actually use these techniques, we are missing out on these tiny nuances of analysis. Here is the Argala of Jyotish to pique your interest.

Argala, Blockages in Jyotish

Argala means a bolt, latch, impediment or check, and as a concept is quite simple to use. It gives valuable insights which you might miss out in your regular analysis. Use the basic birth chart D-1 for Argala analysis.

A very simple example, if you have a client with problems with his mother, naturally you will check out the 4th house, birth moon and everything to do with it to come to a conclusion. But still you are not satisfied and the situation does not tally with the charts check the argala/obstructing forces on the 4th house (and the moon too). The astrological concept is this..

  1. The 2nd, 4th and 11th houses counted from a house or a planet are its principal argala/obstruction. The planets and signs here and their powers will influence the potential of the house under consideration.
  • The planets placed in the 12th can nullify the argala of 2nd house.
  • The planets placed in the 10th can oppose the argala presented by the 4th house.
  • The planets in the 3rd can nullify the argala presented by the 11th house.
  1. The 5th and 8th from a house or a planet present the minor argala/obstacle to the matters of that house.
  • The minor argala presented by the 5th house can be nullified by the sign/planet placed in the 9th house.
  • And finally the minor argla of the 8th will be nullified by the position in the 6th house.

This may have sounded very confusing but its quite simple. Let’s continue our simple example just to get you thinking about this topic. ‘Someone not getting along with his mother.’

From the 4th house the house second is the 5th house. Obviously in his interactions with his mother, if this person is only about his own good times (topics of the natural 2nd) which in his chart are represented by the planets in the 5th (also ego, self-referential behaviours, selfishness etc seen from here), the interactions with the mother represented by the 4th are going to suffer. These tensions can be less or more depending on the number/strength of the planets placed in 5th.

  • Now the obstruction represented by the 5th (second from the 4th house) will be nullified by the planets positioned in the twelfth from 4th, i.e. the 3rd house. If there are strong planets here they will make this person to be of some service to his mother in some way, eg take her to family or community functions. This person may feel like this is an imposition on him but doing this will immensely improve his relationship with his mother.

The next obstruction will be presented by the situation in the house counted fourth  from the house under analysis. So fourth from 4th is the 7th house. (topics of the 7th include spouse, partnerships etc). Naturally if the 7th is strong with several planets placed here to reinforce it, the arrival of the wife/husband will diminish the relationship with the mother drastically. Also if the person does a lot of business with a lot of partners the relationship with the mother will be obstructed.

  • So this obstruction presented by the fourth from house concerned, will be countered by the house counted tenth from the house. So tenth counted from 4th is the 1st house/ascendant sign. So if this 1st house is strong enough with strong planet placements, the obstacle presented by the 7th house on the matters of the 4th house/mother will diminish. If the person has a strong personality he will not let the spouse/partnership dominate his relationship with his mother.

The third argala on matters of the 4th/relationship with the mother is to be seen from the power of the house counted eleventh from the 4th, i.e. the 2nd house. This is also quite logical, the eleventh from house represents the larger landscape, interactions with wider groups and income/gains of that house. In this case, if the planets placed in the 2nd house are strong enough the relationship with the mother will be placed secondary to the benefits/gains/resources that he will get from her. Also he will prefer interacting with a larger group of maternal figures in his family (matters of the 2nd house) rather than his personal mother.

  • This obstacle will be nullified by the planets and power of the house counted third from 4th, i.e. the 6th house. If these planets are strong enough they will create situations where the person will be required to again be of service to his mother, especially in common interactions in the extended family and in the neighbourhood.

This was a very simplistic example of how argala works in Jyotish. This is a very useful concept and is used in birth chart analysis and also in Prashana. It is more important in Prashna and should be always used before coming to a conclusion here.

Argala, Blockages in Jyotish

Do remember that a single placement can never be used for drawing conclusions. Astrology is about learning to recognise patterns. Nothing is fixed in stone, it is never absolute. These patterns show tendencies and probablities. Absolute results cannot be predicted ever. Humans have free will and if you can recognise the pattern and the freedom of choice that you have in it, you can change the course of events, always!

Vedic Jyotish is like the bottomless ocean, you can keep learning for a lifetime and even several lifetimes, it is very enjoyable. You have so many precise tools in your hands which you use to unravel the mystery of your own self!

Booked an astrology session? Read this

I get this question from clients, “my sis-in-law does not know that I have come here with her birth details, can you tell me —- about her?”. In this privacy obsessed world, this question comes across as a bit off! I mean, why should anyone carry her sis-in-law’s chart to an astrologer and ask him whats going on in her life? But this happens a lot. ‘What is my ex-boyfriend doing’ to ‘who is my father-in-law going to leave his wealth to’. Astrology has deviated from its original form of Jyotish, and some astrologers will answer these questions quite easily and also charge quite a bit of money.

There is no privacy in the Universe. We are all interconnected so very deeply that we can know everything about everyone if only we care to ask. You ‘see’ a lot about other persons in your daily life, you are just not aware that you do it. You ‘see’ extra things. Your sub-conscious is always at work, providing you background data about the persons/places you are interacting with. This is your ‘gut-feel’. We astrologers, Tarot readers etc, channelise this gut-feel actively and use it intentionally to ‘see’ more about the clients. I use about 75% from the charts in front of me and 25% from my intuition/sub-conscious. I can also use 100% from my intuition, but that would be very creepy for the client and tiring for me.

So when you visit an astrologer, card reader, aura reader, palm reader or anyone who can read/divine things about you, do understand that he will ‘see’ everything about you. There are no secrets. Your horoscope contains details on your present life/death, your past lives, your emotions, your finances, your likes/dislikes, everything. Your wife/husband may not know if you are cheating on her/him, but your astrologer will. A sensible astrologer will always be careful with what he says and how much information he shares. If he is unscrupulous, he will use your data to get you dependant on him. Knowing which buttons to push, he can use you. So first point, visit someone who is trustworthy. Get some details on him from your friends, or call him first to get an idea of what kind of a person he is, use your ‘gut-feel’. This has become just like any other profession now, so take care.

Another trend is astrology discussion groups. Discussions on combinations and planets and events anonymously is one thing, but posting complete birth details in public is something else altogether! I see this happening on Facebook so very often. Several posts on synastry and overlapping charts and “how is my relationship going to be with my new boyfriend”, with random strangers then commenting. Most likely the boyfriend does not know about this post in public! He might see it later and get angry with you. And the vibrations from such a large number of strangers dissecting both the charts and their good/bad/indifferent comments will disturb both you and your boyfriend on a deep level. Not a good idea.

Do no evil! It is such a cliche but it is so true. If you approach an energy worker to do something negative against your boss, remember that you too will be a victim of the same things sooner or later. There are people who use their talents to get money rather than genuinely help people.

Booked an astrology session? Read this

When you go to an astrologer, you are prepared to tell anything and everything. And are also looking forward to listen to all the ‘juicy secrets’ hidden in your chart. So go alone, even your husband/wife/best friend will act as a barrier to a really good session. You cannot go talk about your innermost secrets in front of your bff! Also do not go home and discuss what you learnt with your bff. Rather record the session, so that you can refer back to it later. Select your Reader and your questions carefully. You are sacrificing your privacy in a big way, so the outcomes should be worth it. Check out if your session has actually helped you. Did your astrologer give you some vague generic answers or did you relate to what was discussed there. Some questions to ponder.

  • How do you see yourself? Your moods, motivations, apathies, attractions, actions and behaviour.
    • Has the reading helped you understand yourself better?
  • How do you see things and other people around you? Do you get bogged down in details and lost in the whole or vice versa?
    • Has the reading helped you re-balance your perceptions, get a more balanced view?
  • You change, every day. You try to change your circumstances, but it often requires more resources than you may have. You try to change your husband/child but its realistically not possible. You can however change your world-view by working on yourself.
    • Has the Reader allowed you a chance to sit back, relax and gain wisdom from his analysis of your chart? Has this reading helped you change for the better?
  • Sometimes you are at cross-roads, not sure of your purpose in life and you have problems.
    • Has the Reader made you aware of your available assets, plus-points, and the new directions in life and possible solutions?
  • Finally, has the reading resonated with you? Have you felt it to be right? And can you use the suggestions and pointers to live a better adjusted and happier life?

An astrologer is someone just like you and me, a Doctor by another name. Not infallible. All they do is provide markers for your life journey, but you have to travel on your road yourself. They are on the same life journey themselves thus are encumbered by their own perceptions. Do not let them dictate to you, listen to them but choose your path and decide for yourself. You should visit them to get free of your bindings, do not allow them to create new bindings on your Will.

Indications for wealth in a horoscope

Wealth is always important. We need money, assets, property and lands to survive in this materialistic life. In a chart there are several indicators from where we can analyse the assets available. The basic indicators are these following houses, counted from the ascendant in the basic chart with the ascendant as the first house. Depending on the interaction between these, the planets and the aspects, the house owners etc the extent of finances can be determined.

  1. House 1/Ascendant which indicates the social status, situation and environment at birth. Benefics, and aspects by benefics raises the quality of this house which will have life time effects.
  2. House 2 –  This is the house of family wealth specifically available to you. Your family may be rich but if this house is afflicted this family resources may not be made available to you. I have seen a chart, with Aquarius as the 2nd house with Mars, Sun and Ketu in it aspected by Saturn from the 8th. This person’s family is very wealthy but the parents kicked him out without a rupee and he had to build his own wealth himself. Ketu here shows disconnection from family assets.
  3. House 3 – This is the house of local connections. It shows your self made wealth in the environment of the local markets, extended family and neighbours. A strong 3rd house gives you your boldness and confidence in this wealth making behaviour. It also indicates your early education. This same person has Pisces with Mercury and Moon in the 3rd giving him a very analytic mind and he is earning his wealth as a trader and on the stock-markets. He has amazing memory, is walking database of figures and uses his computing powers to generate even more money.
  4. House 5 is the house of creativity and divine intelligence. Thus all sorts of games of chance are located here. Speculation, gambling, genius work here. Higher education is seen from here which in a way leads to future profession.
  5. House 9 is the house of Auspiciousness ‘Bhagya’. It shows your mindset, the beliefs and philosophy that you live your life by. It is the anchor, the foundations of your life, your Conscience. It also indicates the patrons and the paternal figures who are always available to provide help to you. Patronage is a very important component of wealth generation. If you are apprenticed to a well-known personality your way in your profession becomes easier.
  6. House 11 is the house of networks and gains from every possible source. Inter-connected similar-minded groups and interactions with strangers, foreigners, and exotic traders. Fortune and luck in all things possible and storage of personally earned money. A chart I know has Jupiter and Moon in Virgo as 3rd and Ketu in the 11th. He has been earning his own money since he was practically a child of 12yrs, but is not interested in saving, he gives away all his money, to poor students and to needy persons on a one-one basis.

Indications for wealth in a horoscope.jpg

(If you have access to the exact birth time, the divisional charts can be calculated and used for confirmation, the D9 called Navamsha, the D-24 called the Siddhamsha and the D-60 called the Shashthiamsha. But if you are not sure about your exact birth time even by 1 minute, never draw the divisional charts, they will mislead.)

In addition to these houses the following planets also contribute to the money flow

  1. Venus is the agent of beauty, harmony, pleasure and comfort which are generally rooted in having sufficient finances. He also controls bargains, partnerships, businesses, legal dues and equitable sharing.
  2. Jupiter is the natural agent of expansion and magnanimity. He brings abundance in the house he is located in, the 5th from it and the 9th from it.
  3. Mercury is the agent of commerce and communication. he controls transactions, trade and naturally brings manipulative skill with data, finance, and critical analytical skills required to make money.
  4. Also any graha even Rahu if placed in suitable environment can provide wealth.

Now each house is capable of conferring ‘wealth’ related to the matters of that house. Even the 8th house of death can confer wealth in terms of legacies and monies left in wills. So from every house the following houses should be counted to gain a fuller perspective of the real gain from that house. These can also be counted from the position of each planet to analyse gain from the matters governed by that planet.

  1. The 2nd house counted from any house will give the type of and amount of resources and treasures derivable from that house.
  2. The 5th house counted from any house will indicate the creativity and divine intelligence that this house channelizes.
  3. The 9th house counted from every house will show how much wisdom, philosophy and understanding you have gained from the experiences of that house.
  4. The 11th house counted from any house will indicate the profit, the luck and the full and final achievements from that house.

But wealth is a complicated thing. Someone may have plenty of money but may not use it just hoard it, never use it, not even to help the children. Some may earn lots but then spend equally lots, net nil savings. Some may have little money but are happy. Some have lots but are unsatisfied, want even more. These emotional aspects are to be seen from the birth moon sign and its placements. Our Shastra/scriptures say that the person who does not want anything is truly wealthy, this then is the realm of the spiritual!

Indications for wealth in a horoscope

Work with Astrology or Reiki, it is easy

I have been a Vedic astrologer all my life, in fact perhaps several lives. I have experimented with several divination systems and they have always worked for me. Divination or Reading is seeing patterns and matching with past experiences and examples with theory. The more you practice and study the better you get at this. It takes interest, time and effort. Intuition also plays a very important role and some spiritual practice is essential where you can rest your active mind and allow the sub-conscious to take over.

However in the past 10-15 years, ever since the Internet, social groups and Internet driven consumerism took off, divination and tools of divination are being sold and traded around as a lifestyle! Someone ‘does’ Reiki, someone is taking online classes on becoming a shaman, or someone is discussing his stellium, or chiron quintile with lilith or persephone biquintile with hades! And all in a course designed to teach you in 3 months! How is it even possible to learn in 3 months? When you decide to Read, you should realise that sooner or later, some one is going to make his life-decision based on what you told him. So you need to be serious and responsible about how you study.

Then again , why complicate your divination tools, with chirons and liliths? The tools are just that tools! These systems have been designed and put in place by seers, and have worked perfectly for thousands of years. The Indian astronomy mathematics is still from the Sanskrit book “Surya Siddhanta”, written by Mayadanav who lived millenia ago.

So today let’s put a critical lens on the energy tools and divination systems consumer market and see how we are purposely making it more difficult for ourselves.

Work with Astrology or Reiki, it is easy

Yesterday someone on Facebook was commenting that Indian/Vedic astrology is garbage because it does not consider planets beyond Saturn. So in one statement this guy has negated the work of millennia! And possibly influenced a few genuinely interested Western students against attempting to learn it.

Indian/Vedic astrologers use Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, their names are Shwet, Shyam and Teevra, in determining the destinies of nations as nations survive for hundreds of years. But now this branch of astrology is practically dead as no one practices it anymore. Our modern nation’s governments do not have a post called “Raj-Jyotishi”, (astrologer to the Kings) anymore. In human horoscopes, these 3 planets are simply too slow moving to have any discernible impact on our tiny lives of about 60yrs. For us humans, with just the 9 graha and 12 houses, we can predict everything about a person, accurate to the year, month and date! In case the client does not know his birth time, but has both his palms intact, we can calculate his birth time upto the exact second, from the lines on his 10 fingers.

Vedic is sidereal mathematics, the ayanamsha is used as a correction factor to account for the movement of the Earth the calculations are corrected every year. The Indian system does this calculation, for the maths to remain accurate. Thus the position of the celestial bodies in the sky and their calculated position in the horoscope is exact.

Western tropical system does not consider the earth to be tilted! Their calculations are hopelessly wrong and stuck in the astronomy of the past about 2000yrs ago, since then no corrections in the mathematics. There are such posts on FB, “I am a Cap, but I don’t feel like one!”. So the answer is, “Do you feel like Sagittarius ? Because western Capricorn, if less than 24°, will be Vedic Sagittarius!”. Now, for some cryptic reason, they have added about 10 asteroids to this mess, hades, chiron, persephone, lilith etc! And complain that astrology has f$%^ed up their lives!

And then there are oodles of new software available in the market, progressed charts, synastry, name it and there is a software creating it. But why? Why create complicated charts which have no value for analysis and prediction. So stick to Indian/Vedic, stick to simple, avoid the asteriods. Learn the keywords of the 9 planets, 12 houses/signs. Gradually build up the keywords till you can analyse the chart and get a perfect overview of the personality. Then learn the combinations and stuff you need for predictions. Find a good teacher. And practice.

Work with Astrology or Reiki, it is easy

Reiki – a very easy to use and effective energy tool

I am a Reiki teacher. FB groups are again flooded with requests for Reiki. Of course some of them are quite genuine, but the majority are like, “I have bad memories please send me Reiki”. This sounds like laziness to me. To cope with such issues what is needed is cleansing and grounding. The person has to work on himself. Only then will the inner sub-conscious receive Reiki for further healing! Mikao Usui discovered Reiki about a humdred years ago, and his basic advice was that everyone should learn Reiki and do their own healings! After his death, his students and later practitioners tweaked with his system. But Reiki is primarily a tool for self healing.

And I realised the wisdom of Mikao Usui’s statement recently. One of my acquaintances is ill, I felt for her and tried distance healing. To my utter surprise, the Reiki sent did not ‘hook’ into her. There was nothing in her which was latching on the beam of energy, it was just washing over her. So I asked someone else to help her. His words were that the sent Reiki was moving through her like through a sieve, not actually going in. Quite concerned, we visited her in hospital, turns out she was so busy blaming her (perfectly innocent) mother-in-law for her auto-immune disease that she was not bothered with her own health. She was in fact wishing for her MIL’s death! No wonder the Reiki did not stick on her, with her terribly hateful and negative mindset!

There is another problem with sending healing energy to others, possibly practitioners do not appreciate it. You get connected to the energy body of the other person while sending reiki. And the channel is open, if you are not careful and alert during the process you may pick up something unwanted from the aura of the recipient. This happened to me once during an initiation process where I saw something potentially distasteful in the student. But I quickly raised by guards and avoided the worst, but still fell ill for a few days after that.

So if anyone is ‘into’ Reiki, instead of sending healing, do offer to initiate others so that everyone gets empowered and does their own healing. (Unless it is a request to help small children or the elderly. Heal only those ill, who actually want to get better). And when you are doing the initiation, do be careful.

As with other energy tools, Reiki also has developed new streams! Just like the asteroids of Western astrology, new branches coming up, Karuna, Rainbow, Kundalini etc. These in my opinion are just new ways for Reiki teachers to make even more money from initiations! Last I heard, they were charging Rs 80,000/- for ‘level one Karuna Reiki’ initiation.

And it is so easy to tap into the Universal energy without any symbols or initiation (post here). Reiki is a short-cut.

Stick with the original, Usui Reiki. You can do anything and everything with these symbols. Dig deep into them, meditate on them, use them. Develop a spiritual practice to power on your intentions. Reiki is not an ice-cream shop with flavours! Some of the things that you can do with Reiki; get a flight delayed so that you can catch it, clear the traffic off the roads, heal pre-mature birth related body problems even at the age of 25yrs, get your boss to change his mind, make it rain, heal plants and animals, get nice produce from your kitchen garden, quiet your crying baby, remove evil eye, charge and cleanse other energy tools, increase the efficacy of medicines, make food tastier, get your child to eat his dinner.. anything that requires energy and intention you can do it with Reiki!

The spiritual merchandise market is booming these days and genuine aspirants can get easily caught spending their time and money on things which may be of no use and even discourage them from learning. But of course, if you have learnt and experienced everything possible with your current system, then you should explore more. There are three things that should always guide you;

  1. This thing you are doing should be described in an authoritative reference book.
  2. Your Teacher, who is an authority should have recommended it.
  3. And most importantly, over-riding clause, you should be really convinced that you need to do it.
