    Good Morning Mrs. Tejaswini Ji,

I have been stuck considering the following and if you could provide your insight, given that it isn’t redundant/waste of your time, you would be helping a month’s long of falling into the same mental trap. . .

I have been reading about the effects of malefic planets, but am stumped on what framework takes precedent when reading my chart on how to determine if a planet is truly malefic.

What would be considered the primary indicator when considering whether a planet functions as a malefic? Would it be if that planet is considered malefic given the relationship to the Lagna? Or would it be if the planet has a low Ashtakvarga score in the house where it is placed? Or would it be if it reads as an “Enemy” or “Great Enemy” in the chart software/Rashi/Nakshatra?

For example, at least from my limited understanding and learning from your insights, considering that Moon is considered a benefic planet for a Meena Lagna. However, say it reads as an “Enemy” in the “Status” section of the chart BUT gives a positive Ashtakvarga score in the house where the Moon itself resides. What would take precedent? Does the planet “Status” determine whether it is “weak” or is there a lot more to it?

Have I got it all wrong? Of course, after reading many of your insights, it is clear that devotion and intention whilst meditating and performing other tasks is the proper mindset versus choosing to entangle myself in shallow calculations; though I still wonder how I ought to approach a malefic? Otherwise, my brain automatically responds, “Oh no, how can we be enemies?! Of course, we are friends”, and perhaps that illustrates my naive understanding of it all.

I hope my explanation makes sense. If I have missed one of your posts, I will continue to look through the Index.

Thank you again for all that you continue to provide the patrons of this blog.

        Good Morning Mrs. Tejaswini Ji,

Perfect. Thank you for referring me back to that second article on “How to combine different techniques”. It has reaffirmed that I have A LOT more learning to do about planets and their relationships. I am certainly a beginner. I am in my 20s and was recently elated since I learned to count the houses and their signs correctly. . .sounds silly but was a big deal in my learning.

I have always enjoyed the stories of planets, deities, and demons. When I was a child I would listen to stories my grandmother recited or turn on the television and watch recorded episodes of Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana. It gave hope about the prevailing of Dharma. Anyways, your article has outlined the necessary understandings and discipline prior to making any assessment about planets, as well as the many perspectives and perhaps requirement of functional malefic planets in our lives. . . besides the lucky Gemini ascendant haha! When I read about Cancer ascendants, I was like WHOA THIS SOUNDS INTENSE, but perhaps that is a boon that my human mind cannot comprehend.

I reside in California but will look for the 📚you mentioned published by Gita Press. I have much learning to gain💡(and maybe some mistakes to be made along the way too 😅)

Thank you again and I hope the winter season weather is lovely in the Himalayas, I can only imagine! 🌸💜🌸💜🌸💜🌸💜🌸

        Hi there
Gita press has an online store

best part of this press is tht it is not a for-profit company, established by genuinely motivated people and that intention continues.

most people who ‘translate’ sanskrit do it with their own agenda. as far as i have seen with Gita press, they give plain simple word translation which is good for first time readers. for the second reading however try to read the original in sanskrit.

yes, winters are beautiful in the Himalay, it is my favourite season, the colder it gets the happier i feel.
but in fact all the 6 Rhutu are beautiful in Nature.

    Namaste Respected Madam,

Hope you had an auspicious Makara Sankaranthi!

On multiple posts I have read about common results of Ascendant lord with Ketu and the ascendant sign with Ketu in it. While these two placements show similar results, are there any subtle differences between them in the area of detachment from self?

    Thank you!

      Hi there
      Of course
Asc lord is how u combine ur personality and the environment. How u use them both together.
Asc sign is more on how ur personality and environment is.

How does a personality who is Virgo rising & a Pisces dominant too (both) come to fruition. As the ascendant ( mercury ) is itself retrograde & debilitated in Pisces. The personality’s all accepting & understanding nature is taken advantage of , yet despite knowing about what’s it’s business & what isn’t its heart still rules & is very stubborn.

But only when the personality gets hit at deep , very deep level , only then the heart understands that’s it’s not good for Self.

It in its “stylish fair sense ” ( adding humor ) , then builds boundaries to safeguard itself. But is there self ?

After a while it comes again at its true nature !!!

Other close people know this , and take advantage of it . But mam , what do I do of this heart.

The only place it’s truly valued , all accepted , fully loved is by Self , Guru.

How can the personality , safeguard itself in this world keeping it’s heart alive too ?

Both are necessary , cannot be lived without.

I am in my early 20s. I personally do not subscribe to age. They just inform about body’s age. But people do perceive me as such. They do not understand me much , they do appreciate the traits of my personality , my mind & heart that appeal to their minds & hearts. And I appreciate them too & am grateful for this life .

Sometimes I have to cut relationships out of my life , people who i truly love but they are not good for my soul’s path & healthy well being.

I do not know why i am writing here , i am a private being , i am quite expressive but with time , i am learning to keep my feelings to myself , my vulnerability is safe then.

Mam , can you offer an opinion , anything you feel will be helpful . I have read all your posts on Virgo- Pisces axis.

You have already said enough. 🙃💚

PS : i do not wish for those emotional cords to develop and perturb you.

Just wished to share. I do not know why. Feels right. 🙂

      Hi there
anything to do with understanding the self or controlling the mind starts with the mantra, choose one which you are drawn to/ have Shraddha in, and hold on to it firmly for the lifetime. it will resolve all confusion with time.

    Namaste Madam,

    Hari Om!

I accidentally stumbled upon on your site when was googling on “sounds during meditation”. First, it is one of the best sites. I have been reading lot of articles in the last few days. Thank you for providing lot of insights and sharing your experience.

Reading your blog “How to do Dhyan”, you mentioned “Initially you might finish this (mantra) phase in 20 mins, it will later extend and will keep on extending, till you will sit for hours!). I am thinking it will extend by the following :
    * Breathing slowly and exhaling slowly or
    * Pausing between in-Purak and out-Rechak

Questions: Will the Kumbhak during mantra phase happens automatically as we continue the practice? Or is there a recommendation interval in seconds to pause in-Purak and out-Rechak? If so, what is the duration?

    Thank you again.

      Hi there
If ur Guru has told u how to do it then follow the guidelines obviously .
If not then best is to not force anything. let the breathing happen as it is. Dont forcibly start/stop it.
Actually the mantra does everything thts needed so with time things fall in place.
      do it sincerely regularly

    Hi mam..

This is in reference to ur post on kundalini. I have observed that as my Dhyan gets deeper my creativity goes down.. especially the ability to think out of box. You mentioned that as we cross vahini mandal.. we stop creating…

I actually stopped Dhyan few times because I could see the impact…

As a householder and normal person… who rely a lot on creative ideas to sustain life.. will continuing Dhyan is advisable ?

      Hi there
this is not the correct way of looking at it.
eg a customer sees gold bangles gold necklaces gold earrings, etc forms of gold. the jeweller sees the gold.
i have repeatedly said this, if you want to walk the spiritual path you have to be ready to leave all creation, material, emotion etc. you cannot have both.
once you realise that the game is not real, it does not interest anymore.
people do not understand the gravity of this statement.
you cannot believe in the game and know that it is fake both at the same time.

once you go deeper into the state you realise that everything is the same. and this gives an internal ‘silence’ which cannot b described. t

i too work, and in a high pressure job where i am required to handle people and situations, sometimes life and death ones.
for me ,when i feel that the spiritual situation has reached a tipping point and i simply want to get up and leave ,something happens which breaks my regular practice. a meeting, or a travel, or a minor illness or something.
a personal eg -1992 i went to kedarnath from mumbai, we all walked up the mountain, but the Bhagwan did not allow us inside the temple. later he dragged my family from my home put us in a helicopter and face to face in front of him in24hrs. then i realised that at thattime going to him face to face would have given me so much that i would nt have even completed my schooling, ie would have taken sanyas as a child and gone away.

tpoint is that is why Gruhasta have those junior school type of things, pilgrimages, pujas, anushthans, bhajan, kirtan, the festivals which are on practically every fortnight.
for followers of Sanatan Dharma we all have to do Gruhastashram and later Vanprasthashram and Sanyasashram, no exception. Eventually all of us will have to do Dhyan.

    Hello Madam,

    1) Doing mantra for the functional malefics will pacify them and reduce their malefic nature, make them neutral OR it will empower them and increase their malefic influence? I found two different opinions about this from two knowledgeable astrologers. Could you please clarify.
    2) some years back, a crow from a tree flew down and for a brief second touched its feet on right shoulder and flew away again. Does it have any spiritual/any other significance? Is it an omen?

    Thanks a lot

    • astrologerbydefault January 17, 2022 / 10:03 pm

      Hi there
doing mantra or dana for functional malefics will help regulate their energies in a way more favourable for you. ie reduce their maleficity. but if they are especially strong then better do a proper graha shanti puja with a Brahmin

if you were thinking of a Q or something then yes, it is an omen

    Namaste Respected Madam,

Ever since I read your Sri Yantra tratak post I have been wanting to practice it. However I gave myself sometime to get some consistent spiritual practice before attempting it. After close to a year of following your advice in this blog and seeing a huge difference in myself (positive) I decided to start. Within a minute or so of tratak many lines from the yantra image just started disappearing and the other lines were becoming fainter with the bindu only staying there prominently. Eyes did not not start to water or anything. Then I simply closed my eyes and got the afterimage. I tried again then same thing, everything just disappears.

Actually this is happening with many items. Stare too much it just vanishes and blends. I don’t know what to make out of it. Then I got curious and looked up and read about something called Troxler effect. Very interesting line from this article

This particular line was quite interesting because it connects to one of your posts.

“If we were to fixate perfectly, the entire world would fade from view,” researchers wrote about the phenomenon in Nature Reviews Neuroscience. Fortunately, those small involuntary eye movements keep everything exciting for your brain and in place in your field of vision.

The post I’m talking about is

” Your mind is imperfect but strangely perfect. This world that we see around us is however quite imperfect. If you can observe energy structures, this world that we see has ‘gaps’ in it, especially around boundaries of individual objects. Our mind cannot make sense of these ‘gaps’, so works to ‘fill in the gaps’ with something that makes sense to it. Our extraordinary mind thus creates a construct. Every single instant your mind is making a construct thus consuming vital energy/ prana.”

I guess I just wanted to share and my question is simple. Is it something people experience while doing tratak because i do want to continue

P.S I did a eye test and eyes are fine 🙂

Thank you for everything! Your new display pic is full of auspiciousness.

      Hi there
its all about the conditioning that the mind is under. and the mind is really very stupid.

eg a deaf person can never understand how beautiful music is, coz it is beyond his limits of perception.
a ego stuffed deaf person will insist that there is nothing called music just coz he cannot perceive it. his individual limited self ego is supreme (followers of Adharma)
but a more open deaf person (follower of Dharma) will trust his doctor (Guru) and get the medicines (practice)etc and regain his ability to listen to music (realise the self).

we are aware of only 0.000000001 % or even lesser stuff that is actually around us.
esp those who do not follow sanatan dharma will never realise that there is so much more.
only if you train your mind to reject its conditioning then you will perceive the rest of it.
mind can be trained only wth Mantra.

these ‘scientists’ are followers of Adhamic thought processes, they see the ‘effect’ but their conjecture reg why it happens is false. because they cannot digest the concept of Intelligent Energy, ie Chaitanya.

all the genuine Quantum scientists went around with a copy of the Bhagwat Gita because this is the most condensed commentary on the Ved Vedanta.
our Vedanta is now being peddled as quantum physics.
but how much ever they copy from the Ved Vedanta Brahmana Aranayak they can never achieve the Self because they are ungrateful, they are hesitant to acknowledge the value of Ved Vedanta openly.
being ungrateful is the biggest negative karma.

if you want to make sense of yourself or the universe around you, you have to forget the material, only focus on the energy Awareness Intelligence Consciousness ie the Chaitnaya, Atma, Parabrahma, Advaita etc.

now these people say that there are ’11 dimensions’,
when even a low level aspirants of Sanatan Dharma like me can confidently say that there are the 10 space dimensions of the 10 Dasha Mahavidya around the central Bindu called Mahakaal.

everything math, physics, biology, chemistry and most importantly the way to the self is from the Ved, there is nothing else but the Ved.

but there is no point, let them wallow in their limited self-ego and ‘effects’.
while we, the followers of the Eternal Foundation, ie the Advaita find our Self

        Namaste Madam,
This is beyond brilliance. Thanks so much for saying this. The so-called science is actually a huge roadblock towards self-realization. Science is actually only a thought process to sustain self-ego and arrogance. As somebody who once worked in this field once, I humbly would like to say that whatever science has found out is essentially what people want to see, in a self-perpetuating model. It is extremely limiting, the conditioning of the mind is such that it keeps feeding its stupidity and stuck in a limited frame.

The end result : It is essentially running around in circles, the “so-called scientific progress” has only caused more destruction all around.

And whenever this scientific conditioning comes in way of my spiritual practice, I deeply regret this thought process called science that reinforces the ugly materialism and the toxic ego of the mind, I am still a very very humble beginner, and I am still only learning to kill the stupid conditioning of the mind due to science.

I really wish I had not acquired this thought process, during my so-called “studies” in science more than a decade ago and I do not like myself as a person when I look back at the “scientist”.

De-conditioning of the polluted mind is very very much the need to see beyond the short sighted perspective science has taught us to perpetuate the ego of the mind.

Madam, your words resonate so much that I had to share this, I hope I was able to convey my thoughts clearly. My apologies for any mistakes or in any word choices. Thanks again Madam.

        Best wishes,

    Namaste Respected Madam,

Vedanta is now being peddled as quantum physics – Yes!!!!! One glaring difference in the two articles. Modern science is very excited to create the material world around is and downright afraid of it all vanishing. Almost like it doesn’t want to see reality. Your post clearly states in no uncertain terms that you have to look through the material by dismantling it to see the Self.

Sometimes I use/highlight modern science concepts to bring my near and dear into studying our texts. eg – if you are excited with this tiny discovery then wait until you read this text. I wish more people experienced the vastness of the knowledge given by our ancients.

    Thank you for everything!

    Namaste Madam,

During my evening Dhyana sessions, most of the time, my head involuntary rotates and moves from side to side. I can feel the energy level that is causing the issue. I feel like a whirlpool in the head. Because of this, I am not able to get most out the session. This has been happening for a few months. The articles I read on the net say it will go away. Since it is not subsiding despite my sincere efforts, I would like to get your input. Am I doing anything wrong? Is there a remedy? Really appreciate your help.

    Thank you

      Hi there
Its the movement of pran which is causing this as u have pointed it out urself. The volume of pran generated is twisting the physical body.
It happens and is very common as it coeans out the blockages. It will stop on its own.
If u have a genuine Guru in frnt of u he can regulate it actively. But u shud not interfere as u r not aware of what is actually happening.
“Getting the most of the session “? Wht does this mean. U cannot consciously decide wht u will get out of it.
Check ur lifestyle if it Is it satvik enough?

        • “Getting the most of the session” – I do Dhyana morning and evening. What I meant by with my statement is, the morning sessions are relatively fewer movements vs evening. With this, I feel the evening sessions are on slow path. Yes, you are right that it is happening for a reason and I need to go with what I get from the divine.
        • Sattvic enough? – Yes, I am vegetarian by birth and for the last four years I have cut down on onion and garlic as well. If there is anything I could further glad to take it up to the next level.

Again, thank you for your time. Appreciate your help.

    Good evening madam

Came across this blog by accident. Since then it has been continuous one month that i have been reading and reading. Great knowledgeable stuff.
Requesting you to write about “rahu and saturn conjunction” in different houses in natal chart.

      • tanyasinghbhadauria January 22, 2022 / 2:22 pm

Yes mam , Thank you. ✨

When i see navamsha , i see more patterns same moon – Venus axis , same moon – Jupiter axis repeating as compared to D1 , lord of a particular house sitting in the 12th house to its particular position.
Thus the energies dissolving . It helps me to be more aware of those aspects in my life , though the experiences entail their own depth .

Mam , somehow i resonate more with my D1 moon sign & D9 ascendant sign internally. 😅

Thank you again. Everything here , makes
us step closer towards our true self . 💛
The Ashtapadmadala chakra is really beautiful & insightful . 🌻

        Pranaam Madam,
Thanks so much for this clarification. I have had the chance to read your valuable posts on Navamsha Analysis Madam, and I express my gratitude for making us understanding the Navamsha tulya Rashi concept.

Please forgive my limited understanding and my naive query, we do look at aspects in Navamsa charts like the way we do in the Rashi, and as for conjunctions, we look at D1 definitely.
But my confusion is that since we do not look at “conjunctions” in divisional charts, but with D9 we also have the tulya concept, how do we interpret the planets allocated to the same navamsa? (I am being careful here and thus I am not saying “conjunct”)
Thus on the same lines that the reader asked, I am a little uncertain or unable to find the correct words on predicting saturn rahu aspect/same navamsa in D9 but not aspecting nor conjunct in D1. Your precious guidance would be extremely helpful in this Madam.
Please forgive me Madam for my limited understanding and for any redundant questions.

        With sincere gratitude as always,
        Best wishes, regards and prayers,

        Hi there
if you are using the 3rd way of Navamsha tulya rashi concept then use all the concepts including conjunction/aspects etc as you would use for a regular D1.

        in that post the
1st way of interpreting is the most important give it about 50% significance
and 2nd Rashi tulya navamsha and 3rd way Navamsha tulya rashi give them about 25% significance each.

the saturn+rahu in D9 but not in D1 means that there is a significant potential for the shapit dosh energy but this may or not be triggered in this life. but still you should evaluate your actions during Saturn or Rahu dasha periods.
but if your D1 is strong enough then you can trigger this potential mindfully and use it in the positive sense.

this is a personal observation, maybe some one can do more analysis.
the d9 is an extension of the 9th house of the D1. and we consider the 9th house to be generally positive or at least generally neutral for average people like you and me. your clients will be like this. so the d9 can be actively used for generating positive results. so even if you see such ‘dosh’ in the D9 try to think on the positive enabling ways in which you can use these tendencies within you.
(the 9th house damaged will give a negative criminal adharmic etc mindset. these sort of people will generally not approach a Jyotishi.)

    Namaste Mam,

few days back I read your reply to people performing Antyesthi while still living. Somehow I felt a pull to visualize my own funeral and pyre burning releasing myself the consciousness from all bondages, good and bad, I/mine, desires, thoughts… in my daily dhyaan practice.

I have started feeling positive impact in terms of being calm and centered in myself even in otherwise tough situations. Is this something I can continue Mam?

Grateful for your guidance as always.

    Kind Regards,

      Hi there
If u feel like it then do it.
In dhyan actually the Agni of ur Tap burns ur karma and vasanas both.
If u r visualising this and with the Anteyshthi agni then it will b accelerated.

But then later do not say tht u feel no interest in Gruhastashram type activities and want to tone down the sadhana.

Do only tht much which is sensible and matches ur responsibilities as a Gruhasta.

Would you consider writing a blog on Paishacha yoga? also recommend some remedies for those with this yoga in their chart
    Thank you

    • astrologerbydefault January 23, 2022 / 1:23 pm

      Hi there
which ref book has given this ‘Paishacha yoga’?
its not there in the Bruhat Jataka or BPHS or Phaladeepika etc standard texts.
if you are asking about curses from departed souls then the BPHS chapter 83, shloks 95-105 clearly gives the combinations for curses from departed souls. read it from there.
and also the remedies in shlok 106-108. any competent brahmin can help you perform them.

Generally Rahu Ketu Saturn if afflicting the
      1 Dharma trikon
      2 ascendant sign/lord
      3 birth Moon
this creates issues related to the ancestors, descendants, spirits, mental stability, etc.

I understand that questions related to marriage is quite routine and mundane for astrologers and you have written many articles on the topic. Trying to determine my marriage prospects and the timing of meeting someone has consumed me for over a decade now and is actually what prompted me to try to learn astrology. I live in the west but have consulted many many astrologers over the years both here and abroad. The timings they give me have never materialized into anything- not even a short relationship or a fling. I have done countless remedies, prayers, recite sri sukta, various mantras etc. I have been alone my entire life. I’m not sure how to continue to keep hope.

Can you please share what specific transits we should look for to try to narrow down timings when it comes to meeting someone? If one is already in a dasha that could lead to relationships how does one fine tune these timings? It seems whatever I am doing is incorrect. I would appreciate any tips on how to narrow this down.

    Thank you

    • astrologerbydefault January 25, 2022 / 12:57 pm

      Hi there
the questions may be routine fr the astrologer but not so fr the client. everyone has a unique chart and one feels more strongly about ones own questions.
      there are several things

1 is the birth data accurate?
2 check if there are combinations which deny marriage.
      3 or delay marriage.

Specific dasha periods where one gets married are
      1. rahu/ketu if beneficial for the chart
      2. yogkarak planet, asc lord, 7th or 9th house lord
      3 jupiter

if you can see your ashtakvarga table then any of these who have a score of 4+ in the 7th house sign will give marriage in his time periods.
or if you can see the Bala, then the one of the above with the best Ishta phala is the most likely one.

Shri sukta will give its results, so keep reciting this in your daily pujas. request her to make you a Gruhalaxmi and then leave it to the Devi Shri.

find a genuine person who actually knows what he is interpreting from the chart. there are several people who take advantage of people in distress and make money off them.

      • Sudha January 25, 2022 / 9:16 pm

        Thank you so much.
The birth time is accurate as I have been able to very accurately time other events in my life. For some reason ( my kismet) the marriage timings have never worked. I have tried prashna charts as well and though it has worked for every other aspect of my life, it has not for this. I have combinations for delay (I have a very saturn heavy chart, but saturn is my yogakarak) but at what point those turn into a denial? I am not sure.

I am in Rahu MD/Venus AD ( my asc lord) now but this time is halfway through. All of the other timepoints you have mentioned above in #2 have come and passed. Is there specific transits to look for ( i have heard of the saturn/jupiter double transit theory, venus conjucting natal mars in transit, jupiter conjuct natal 7th lord or venus in transit, etc.) that you recommend to narrow down the timing within a dasha?

        Many thanks

      • astrologerbydefault January 25, 2022 / 10:53 pm

        Hi there
Rahu MD can be a bit tricky to analyse and this specific Rahu-Venus can get as enigmatic as the Venus-Saturn or Venus-Jupiter or Saturn-Jupiter karmic combos

saturn as yogkarak will not disappoint, unless of course he is so badly placed that he destroys the two houses he owns.

i do not see charts anymore so cannot comment any more just like this randomly.

but if you want you can consult Nikita, she reads using tarot.

      • Sudha January 26, 2022 / 4:38 am

Thank you, the information you have provided is very helpful. I will also look into Nikita.

In your experience, do you think a tarot reading is as effective when done remotely with the client not in front of the reader?

Hello Ma’am, the query asked by one of your readers triggered something that has been on my mind for a very long time.. it’s personal an I hope you don’t mind me asking for your guidance. I have over the years gone to several astrologers about finding a life partner again after my divorce. Almost all said that my chart shows a second marriage though my 7th house has 4 planets which is not good., but the second marriage is likely to last and be stronger. All astrologers predicted different timelines especially now that I am going through Jupiter Maha dasha.. but nothing materialised so far. I did all the rituals, poojas, pilgrimages they suggested apart from my personal prayers to my family deities but nothing materialised at all.. more than all this what has been most difficult for me is trying to understand what I believe were a couple of spiritual experiences.. Atleast twice when my family deities spoke to me and told me my prayers were granted ( I had prayed intensely regarding my career and for a compatible partner ) the jobs were granted almost immediately after I had these experiences.. but the life partner has not manifested .. even though in one of the experiences I had my family deity even told me that I would definitely be married.. but it’s been years and nothing has happened. I have no reason to doubt what I saw and experienced as my other prayers where I had similar experiences were granted .. I often struggle to understand why I would I experience something as profound but my prayer/ wish is yet to manifest.. I despair sometimes.. at the same time I don’t want to doubt my faith or the gods I pray to who have helped before in countless ways and I have felt their grace ..,
Would you have any advice for me based on your spiritual experiences? How should I interpret this delay .. did I do something wrong / karma which is why despite the spiritual experiences.. I am yet to find my life partner? Sorry for the strange question.. there is no one really that I can share such experiences with other than you .. due to your vast understanding of spirituality.. and kindness in sharing your wisdom with us..many Pranams

    • astrologerbydefault January 25, 2022 / 8:10 pm

      Hi there
If your family deities have assured you of something then you should leave it in their divine hands. Maybe they are indicating something which you are unable to understand as yet? But you can always ask them to be kind and bring what you want immediately. Or at least help you make sense of what is happening in your life on this front.

I recommend Shaktimohan singh’s book on kaalchakra dasha, especially the chapter on marriage. ‘Marriage’ event from the charts perspective can sometimes be very different from what we think in the material sense.
In fact the 7th house is not just of ‘marriage with another human’ it is more about filling your blanks.
Eg for the spiritually inclined and at the extreme for Sanyasis this happens during their sadhana.
For some it can be about money, some the profession. You see lawyers, 7th house people, especially so absorbed like this.

Karma related to marriage is one of the most difficult to discuss, it is the most private thing. But yes, there must have been some horrible experience related to marriage that you are repeating again in this life. Its after-shocks on the karmic/astral level which help you regain your balance and get over that one episode.

I think KN Rao had done some study of a woman who had horribly died in childbirth in her past life and in this life remembered that episode. Now she had a chart with damaged 5th 7th etc houses. No marriage no child and was very satisfied. The fear of death in childbirth has gone into the astral self so deeply that the person does not want to get into marriage in the first place.

Its the 7th house, bhavat bhavam of the 1st, Marak, equitable relationships and gains from them. Also spiritual practices which lead to the ‘loss of death’. It is all the things you rather not really face. Your mirror, your shadow, fill in the blanks. Its a personal thing. It is also the 9th house. Dharma, foundation. And also the 5th, self love, connect with the deepest divine. It is technically the most difficult house to decipher in the chart.

I would suggest you the same thing which I suggest for all marriage related issues. Devi Shri and her Shri sukta. I have seen such incredible effects of her Krupa in my and my client’s lives. People on the verge of divorce, stayed together. Husbands who had gone off with other women came back. Women who had left their husbands reunited. And several people finding their desired spouses.

Fr the chart point of view Jupiter MD is good. In this AD of 7th house lord, asc lord, yogkarak, 9th lord, 5th lord, or the shubh graha of the 4 in your 7th house, can give good results. Esp the graha with good ishta phal, good ashtakvarga score etc.

You can also promise your Kuldevata something typical if the marriage event occurs soon. Eg some special puja or some special offering etc as per your family practices.

        Hello Ma’am ,
Very grateful that you took time out to answer my personal question.. helped clear a lot of doubts.
Can I please ask a question about Devi Sri and the Sri suktam recitation that you suggested as a remedy for marriage related issues.. inspired by your blog I learnt the Sri suktam and now recite it once a day …, for the specific purpose of being blessed with a life partner could you please advice how many times the suktam should be recited or if there are specific days when it should be recited any procedure to be followed.. I hope you don’t mind my asking you this.. Thanks and many Pranams 🙏

        Hi there
If u can during morning pujas and at evening twilight. Esp Friday evening is very good fr pujas of Saumya Devi forms.
Or even once a day will also b ok.
Visualise a beautiful Devi Laxmi seated on the lap of her husband Bhagwan Vishnu both giving you ashirwad fr ur desired sankalp.
Or keep such a wallpaper on ur ph so tht u see them always like this.

If u ask like this then there is no end to rituals 🙂
Personally i have done 108 times Shri sukta homas, offered the sukta to all devi temples i have been to, offered it to devi ganga as i do ganga snan a few times every month, i can listen to it on a loop fr hours etc 🙂

But the point is, recite it 1/2 times a day with full Shraddha. Bhagwati Devi wants only the purity of intention.

I really wish you could recommend some good astrologers.

There are some who are very knowledgeable but you have to wait for up to a year to get a consultation from them. Of course there are many who just have learnt superficial aspects of it and peddle it.

It is so difficult to find one who has the knowledge, intuition and purity and is available.

I am trying to learn myself but every time I start the learning, I get so frustrated since there is such nuance and complexity to the divine subject

Thank you for the detailed post on Chandra Mahadasha. As always, very insightful and helpful. As someone in the early stages of my Moon MD, this was very timely and relevant and much appreciated.

There are a few aspects of the Moon MD that I have been observing as a significant change from how I experienced from the Sun MD. Noting them here, in case others have the same, or find it useful, and if anyone else has observed anything similar.

    – From one day to the next, I could feel the instability in my focus. As someone who had always been able to do single-minded focus towards a goal, this was disconcerting, and I applied my usual routines and setting structures to solve for it (I have a strong Saturn, so discipline and structures come naturally to me). However on closer introspection, I feel that there is much to be gain in letting the mind flow once in a while. To explore and experience at whim. It goes into depths of intuition which it perhaps would not with strong constraints. I am currently figuring out how to achieve the right balance.
    – I am taking heart from the story of the Moon and the 27 wives. Even though on first glance, it comes across as fickle and unsteady, changing his love every day (which is how I feel the focus on my writing and research interests :)), I realized that the Moon doesn’t actually go past the orbit, so it comes back to each of the 27, repeatedly and without fail. Each visit brings a different flavour as the moon himself is different in each trip (which I interpret as a new insight each month), but that also means that there is a way to harness the power of regular change with the power of continued attention to a topic.
    – As a writer/ creator, I am looking forward to learning new ways of creating in the Mahadasha, which just a few months in, I am realizing, will be entirely different from what I have experienced in the previous phases of my life.

Thank you for the detailed post again,

    God bless,

  18. Question January 26, 2022 / 9:19 am

Could you please give some details on which system to use when trying to time the MD/AD periods. In the Drik Panchang app that I use, I chose Vimshottari, but it still has the option to choose from Saura/ Nakshatra/ Savana/ Lunar – and was wondering which is most appropriate in applying to understand the Dashas.

I tried all, and the Saura and Nakshatra both seem to fit to some events in my life. But looking ahead, they are both different timelines, especially when it comes to determining the Antardashas etc. I looked up your post on various ways of calculating time, but doesnt seem to clarify this part.

    Thank you for your help.

I wanted to ask/share something about a unique event that happened in the family. My grandfather was a Jyotishi. He had all of our charts and used to guide us from it every now and then. I am deeply grateful to him for his precious presence in my life in many ways even though he is no more.

But one thing still mystifies me. One of my ‘sisters’ had a pretty inauspicious chart….my amateur understanding of her chart ( I’m still a beginner) saw Shapit dosha etc etc..

My grandparents “adopted” her (“thathu” in tamil) after she was born even though her parents were fully capable and loving. My feeling is that my grandfather did this after checking her chart to either mitigate the ill effects of the dosha on the 2nd house or to create a second set of parents to absorb/guide the chart’s energies in some way.

I have watched her life unfold…….she has had a pretty difficult time…but as he promised her….there was always a blessing in the form of someone or the other in her life to help her through. Even though I know this is true for all of us, I have seen her being lifted time and again by a caregiver kind of person walking in at that time of need.

Anyways…..astrologically this must be a huge thing….to be “born again” to godparents in the temple through a ritual…..I’m just wondering what that means…. like a 2 layered birth chart…..

This is fascinating now …as I study more Vedic astrology.

(P.S It must be my grandfather’s blessings that I have found your blog!)

    • astrologerbydefault January 26, 2022 / 7:26 pm

      Hi there
To b adopted like this a very strong 9th house is needed.
Also by this act of adoption the 9th house becomes more active in life.
But fr the adopters, some charts shud never adopt else they will create problems fr themselves. And some by this action benefit.
Yr grandfather must have evaluated everything precisely fr his loved family members.

      • Sujata January 27, 2022 / 6:10 pm

Thank you for your reply. My grandfather is my hero. Grounded us in Bharatiya culture.

On another note, I wanted to share an observation.

I moved into a flat 2 years of the best things about it was the glorious sunsets that used to come right into the living room which I used to sit and silently watch.

This past year, I have literally counted these sunsets with one hand and remembered your post on Shri Plava Namasamvatsara.

“Sun not being a part of this year’s nav-nayak rulerships means that the ruler of the zodiac himself, is absent from the scene.”

I know you meant it astrologically but I bear testimony to the truth of this at the physical level too.

It feels good to tune into the the stars, skies and all the energies within and without…. that Jyotish explains.

    Hi madam,

Regarding the specific daan remedies for planets, e.g. chapati for crow, coconut for rahu etc are traditional ones and well known as a part of regular religious activities. But for Mercury, burning sea shells is quite out of the box. I did it few times as He is my asc lord, having highest kashta phala too and currently during Mercury Mahadasha. But, i always received doubtful replies and disapproval from the family members. They think, its something adharmic activity, lol
Would like to know how sea shells ash is related to mercury, if you could explain.

Btw, many many happy returns of the day, belated happy birthday.

He may not even know as he wouldn’t have asked that question to whoever told him that.

That is why I asked you because you have no ego and you answer without holding back.

If you have such doubts about the practitioner why ask him the question in the first place?
Ask only those people whom you have faith on. Else what is the point?
If he has asked you to do something after seeing your charts, how would I know why?

Thanks for the recent post and valuable replies, I was fortunate to read your post on Teekshna Danshtra Bhairavashtakam, could you kindly share if there are links with its correct lyrics in Devbhasha Sanskrutam? Also, I tried searching it on youtube and could not find the artist of the really powerful audio rendition that you kindly shared with us…

Hope this is not inconvenient for you, I apologize for the bother…

        Sincere Namaskars,

        Hi there
Lyrics i have written in tht post.
I could not find the original singer. I had found it on youtube on some random mixes channel.
It was quite a few years ago.
All tht I remember was tht there were a lot of musical interludes in it which were spoiling the flow of the mantra. I cut out tht part and left a small note at the end of each shlok.

    Hi madam,

You had mentioned in few posts that you should not step on lemon kept at 3/4 road junction. But if you accidentally walk nearby the cut lemon and already somebody else already has walked over it then is it ok? What can we do to nullify negative effects if any?

Also, washing the legs especially heels is recommended in my culture after coming home back from outside. They say, the negatives enter through your legs. Could you throw some light on this subject if possible.

    • astrologerbydefault January 29, 2022 / 9:52 pm

      Hi there
best not let even your shadow touch it. even if your vehicle went over these things you will be hit.
Irrespective if you were the first or the last.
removing it may get typical as you do not know what was kept there.
and generally the worst things are put in these things at 3 junction roads.

men traditionally wear silver kada in the feet and women wear silver anklets just for this reason. now men have stopped and most women too have stopped, so the negative energy that they pick up on the roads gets the chance to pervade throughout their bodies.

one must wash hands, feet ideally before entering the house. it is common sense. Hygiene as well as refreshing the aura.
and shoes worn outside must not be taken inside the house. In Marathi homes, the shoe rack is outside the apartment. or alternatively just inside the door.

but i have seen people in the place where i live, walk inside their homes with their outside shoes on! the first time some guest did it in my home i was speechless. after they left i immediately sent the carpets for washing and mopped the living room. then put a board on my front door asking guests to remove their shoes before entering.

        Thanks for replying.

Now a days its difficult to avoid such things while walking and if you are traveling by vehicle esp. buses
What would you advise us in such cases. I already practice the washing hands and legs you mentioned. Is the silver kada in the right foot (for men) advisable solely for this purpose? Or the black thread procedure which you mentioned in earlier posts will do? Sorry but this is a recurring issue in rural india and has started happening in metro cities too ( lemon and all).
Btw sometimes, there are only lemons (no addons like gandh, halad etc) , at random places on road, some with chilly, have to actually see every step while walking.

      • astrologerbydefault January 29, 2022 / 10:23 pm

        Hi there
black thread will work. or you can even put a spot of black kajal on the ankles.
but best is to avoid stepping on these things.

    Hi mam

This is regarding your post on ‘Asan’ . I wanted to know if two people can share the same Asan for
Meditating ? What happens when you meditate accidentally on someone else’s Asan ?

      • Deepak January 30, 2022 / 12:51 pm

Thanks mam. I am curious to know what happens when somebody meditate on another person’s Asan? What could be the repercussions ? Sorry for repeating the question but your guidance would help.

Also , if there is any remedy ..

      • astrologerbydefault January 30, 2022 / 1:13 pm

        Hi there
if you have to ask me this then you do not understand the value of the Asan. Unfortunate.
it is not a ‘mat’ where everyone can sit on.

i do not like it if anyone even sees my Asan, forget touching it. and someone else sitting on it would is unthinkable. if anyone does this, he would be attacked by the karma/vasana which i am trying to resolve in my Sadhana.
a very huge negative karma for him

you fight out your own karma, vasana, on this battleground. This is the rann-bhoomi where you are fighting your personal war of kurukshetra. your own mind is fighting you. its a highly personal thing.

you sit on this to become ‘God’, ie realise the Self the Advaita. it is the Asan, the foundation. not everyone gets a genuine Asan in life. if your Dharma trikon is strong only then will you get this tool to assist you in your sadhana.

would you touch or use someone else’s Jap-mala? or wear someone else’s Yajnopavit sutra? or wear someone else’s Mangal sutra?

if you want to share, you alone are responsible fr your own actions.

Thanks mam. I was asked by a spiritual person to sit on his Asan and meditate. That time I didn’t realise the importance of Asan. When I read your article I realised that I did a mistake. Is there something I can do to remedy it ?

I don’t share my Asan with anyone. I have been using the Kusha Asan.

        Hi there
if you consider him a guru type of a person then you should not ask me about wht he told you to do.
having shraddha on the guide is the first thing for any aspirant.
        i cannot comment on this.

but do not share your personal asan, ie the one where you recite 108 mantra, with your family members etc.

  27. S January 30, 2022 / 9:13 am

    Namaste Respected Madam,

I have 2 questions. One practical and one Jyotish question.

    1. In Indian households in the puja -ghar we use either silver, copper or bronze deepaks/lamps. Is one material better than the other in our everyday pujas or are they all for different purposes? I think in the north copper lamps are popular and in the south silver is popular.

In this post you have mentioned that to understand the immediate past life we take the 2nd house as ascendant and read the chart. Mam, then will that mean our next life will have our 12th house as ascendant?

Does it also mean all the planetary conjunctions shall remain? Sorry ma, would appreciate some clarity on that.

    Many thanks for everything!

    • astrologerbydefault January 30, 2022 / 12:03 pm

      Hi there
      1. copper for oil, silver is exclusively for ghee, differently shaped vaati used in both.

      2. no.
the past is relatively fixed as its the foundation of the current birth. the future is still in flux. it in your hands. whatever you think of at the moment of exit you will be born there. better would focus on what you have right now and make the most of it. about the past life chart, its not the exact configuration, how can it be? but u can get an idea of what that immediate past was which gave rise to your current future.

  28. Nagarathna January 31, 2022 / 9:46 pm

I am a true beginner. So, please don’t laugh at my question-

This person’s chart was done 3 different times by different astrologers. Most recently, it was done on JHORA software.

Degrees of the various planets are as follow:

    Lagna – 2 degrees Leo
    Saturn is 28 degrees Leo
    Jupiter is 14 degrees Leo
    Mars is 8 degrees Virgo
    Sun is 28 degrees Gemini
    Mercury is 24 degrees Gemini
    Moon is 25 degrees cancer
    Rahu is 27 degrees dancer
    Ketu is 27 degrees Capricorn
    Venus is 23 degrees Taurus

    Here is the question:

    1. In one chart, Ascendant is Leo and Jupiter is in 1st house; Mars and Saturn are in 2nd house (virgo)with Mand; Ketu is in 6th house( Makara); Venus is in 10th(Taurus); Mercury(retro) is in 11(Mithuna); Sun, Moon and Rahu are in 12th(Cancer);

    2. In 2nd chart, Ascendant is still Leo but Saturn and Jupiter are both in Ascendant; Mars is in 2nd(virgo); Ketu is still in 6(Makara); Venus is still in 10th (Taurus); Mercury(retro) and Sun are both in 11(Mithuna); Moon and Rahu are in 12(cancer)

    3. In the JHORA chart, Ascendant is Cancer and Moon and Rahu are both in ascendant; Jupiter, Saturn and Mars are in 2nd house(Leo); Ketu is in 7(Makara) and Venus is in 11(Taurus); Mercury(retro) and Sun are both in 12(Mithuna)

The houses that planets are in vary from chart to chart.

How does one decide which placement is right? Obviously the reading will change depending on the house locations too – right?

Thank you so much for dealing with ignorant questions. Really appreciate it

    • astrologerbydefault January 31, 2022 / 10:54 pm

      Hi there
if you are an absolute beginner, it might be easier if you follow this step-wise.

if you know this person, ie if this is not a random birth time then simply from looking at him the positions will be clear.

for absolute beginners stick to JHora or even the simple drikpanchang phone app. use chitrapaksha as the ayanamsha, and input the date/place correctly.
later as you learn more you can differentiate between where they are and their blends in the personality

different software and astrologers use different settings/ ayanamsha etc that gives different charts

      • Nagarathna February 1, 2022 / 4:59 am

Thank you so much Tejaswini Ji.

One more question regarding the same – what would you say the essential difference is between the Rahu/Moon conjunction being in 12th house as opposed to being in the first house – still in cancer rashi?

You mentioned somewhere that some astrologers deduct Rahu’s degree from 30 degrees – if that is so – would Rahu not even be conjunct with moon in this chart?

I would like your insight on that please.

      • astrologerbydefault February 1, 2022 / 8:57 am

        Hi there
Either study systematically, join a course etc
or consult ur regular astrologer fr personal readings.
I wrote on the different houses. And also on moon/rahu conjunction. Work it out fr urself.
        Tht was fr atmakarak calculation.
I will not answer such questions in the future.
U r not studying anything systematically and mixing concepts.

    Namaste Respected Madam,

Thank you for the post on choosing a Muhurta. It is very useful for regular people! One small question – is there any order of importance embedded in the different aspects of muhurta. For eg- if it is an auspicious tithi but falls on a Tuesday ( here the intention is for new things that you want to grow) should we give importance to the tithi or vaar or is it a personal/practical choice?

    Thank you for everything

    • astrologerbydefault February 1, 2022 / 11:08 pm

I would like to ask you a question regarding manasika japa. I am able to do it without moving my lips and without producing sound but my vocal chords and my tongue, to some extent are active in the process. Is that ok? Or, are you supposed to be able to think the japa without using any of the vocal organs? I would appreciate a clarification on this. Thank you, as always for sharing.

    • astrologerbydefault February 2, 2022 / 11:09 am

      Hi there
Manasik means completely in the mind.
So by definition how can the physical vocal apparatus be involved?

      • Nagarathna. February 2, 2022 / 9:52 pm

I was afraid that that might be the answer. I don’t have that kind of concentration power apparently. I can do it for a short time and then my vocal chord and tongue start to do something.

It must be nice to have that kind of focus. Thank you so much for the answer.

    Namaste Tejashwini ji,

Came across your portal. going through various articles. It has TON of info.

Saw your article on stationary planet

My son (around 5 years now) has more or less a stationary Budha. Budha in his chart is retrograde, but his retro motion is more or less over and Budha was stationary for next few hours after his birth before starting forward motion again maybe after 10-12 hours later.

And since his Budha is in same rashi as that of lagna, but degree of lagna is around 23 degrees whereas Budha is around 4 degress. So not sure if budha is in 1st house or 12th house. Shani is in one preceding rashi but at around 27 degrees. So kind of Budha and Shani are less than 10 degrees.

Now coming to my query, you have mentioned events/skill of stationary planet are often delayed. Now my son’s communication/grasping power etc are not so developed. Speech is also not age appropriate. Please let me know when or what might activate that stationary planet. Is that Dasha/bhukti of that planet or something else. If could elaborate, it will be really helpful

Also going through article on Simha lagna.

My lagna is simha lagna (both simha and rashi’s are empty), i could connect with various things mentioned there. For ex deep internal conflicts/sorrows, disconnected marriage etc. But what caught my attention was again, a mention of “differently-abled child” in the article. Again can you please elaborate here. What are your observations on this, why you felt a simha lagna person might have a differently-abled son. My son has been identified with mild autism. Hence interested on this.

Sorry for a long post. Hopefully I have kept the query as generic as possible. Hoping for your reply on this. Thanks in advance.

    With Regards

      Hi there
      Dasha bhukti and significant transits.

As u have mentioned its a child facing issues here r some options u can try.
U can recite vishnu sahastranama over water and give it to him to drink. At least on Wednesdays.
give him the water kept overnight in a shankh to drink, speech will open up.
If there is something typical pujas of Vishnu and remedies fr mercury shud help. Find a good astrologer/ brahmin to help you.
Also Ayurved may have some clues, so ask some good Ayurvedic doctor and pray to Dhanvantari.
And obviously follow whatever the speech therapist and medical professionals have recommended.

‘Differently abled’ coz they hav something extra, this can make them extraordinary or give them developmental issues in early life. The exact reading depends on other positions also.
Agni rashi dharma trikon esp Sagittarius in 5th does this.

        Hello Tejashwini ji,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, we are taking him to speech therapist and also have taken him to ayurveda doctor. Lets see how it goes about. Compared to 2 years back, he has improved for sure. But as mentioned he is not his age appropriate (~ 5yrs) rather actually he has to improve much. This is also one of the reason of conflict between me and my wife. Regarding reciting vishnu sahasranama, i do recite it frequently if not daily. But i do recite “Sri Rama rama rameti rame raame manorame……..” more or less daily. Also i do take him to Srinivasa/Venkateshwara (our family deity) temple as much as possible in a week especially from past 1 year or so

Coming to my son’s dasha/bhukti, Budha dasha is very very far off. His Surya dasha is about to begin or might have started just now (Jan-Feb 2022). His Surya is also in lagna (just around 1.5 – 2 degrees behind the lagna degree). So kind of hoping that his Surya dasha will do the needful.

In my post/query earlier, that in my chart (simha lagna) . I had mentioned simha rashi is empty but had missed that actually both simha and kumbha rashi are empty. And my dhanur rashi has ketu. Not sure how this will be impacting my son.

Also am not sure if you have written on autism. If not please do write on autism in jyotishya as well. I assume that this is not just a request from me but from many other parents as well who are going through lot of trouble/mental agony on account of their child’s autism. Thanks.

        With Regards

    Ma’am , I have few questions .

1- Mars in 3rd house specially in fiery sign like Leo result are uncontrolled outburst , accidents , injury by sharp weapon , crimes of passion , heat related issues , over confidence , wants to compete , dislikes partnerships etc are mention .

But this Mars is hemmed between Mercury and Jupiter . Will it act as benific point to nullify the negative traits ?

  33. gumnaam007 February 3, 2022 / 10:47 pm

Do Sign exchange also affect nakshatra ?
Like Virgo moon to cancer mercury . Will nakshatra attributes also change as moon is going to cancer .

I came across your writeup on Narcissists, abusive relationships……

    Please don’t ever stop writing.

I so wish you were doing astrological consultations. I don’t think there is anyone out there with this depth of knowledge. Wow!

There is one astrologthat I think may be good. He is not even taking bookings now. He is booked until July. When that opens, if one is able to book, it will be another 3 to 4 months before you can get a consult. By then the patient may be dead! You know what I mean.

      Hi there
why wish for something that is impossible?
i have made it very very clear that i have finished that karma.

be very very careful about where you put your thought energy. better would be to wish for the solution to your problem to come along. that would be a better use of your thought energy.
and do not waste it thinking about me or other people.

if there is someone dying, always i suggest mahamrutyunjai mantra jaap. Leave it in the hands of Mahakaal, he will handle it as always.

  35. Jai February 5, 2022 / 12:24 am

    Hi madam

A person generally has many desires, that’s why he takes birth. But once the spiritual longing arises, he understands the vanity of these materialistic desires. i.e. even if he completes them, he will still be hungry for them like putting ghee in the fire.
But, even he understands it logically/theoretically, the desires generally overpower, as they are deep within sukshma / kaaran shareer.
E.g. an alcoholic knows theoretically that his liver can get danaged but it won’t necessarily lessen his drive for alcohol.

My question is what happens when a person dies with such a mindset?
He has to take rebirth to complete his desires ( though he knew that those cant be quenched, in the back of his mind) ?
Or his understanding of the whole situation somehow exempts him of going through the loop?
Or it’s totally random, person and timing specific, meaning if his mind state at moment of death is that he is not thinking if the desires, luckily, he will be exempted of it or else, he is in for that experience, though how much ever repetitive it may have been for many births?

    • astrologerbydefault February 5, 2022 / 11:13 am

      Hi there
Whatever you think of when you leave the body you will come back to finish it. Your choice as always.
So the spiritual aspirant always focuses his mind on the Ajapa mantra Soham. The test of this focus is at the moment of exit. If he has done it properly he will focus on the mantra and attain videha mukti.
If your mantra is of any of the devtas and if you pass the test, ie focus on your deity as you exit, you will travel via devayan and attain krama mukti.
If focus is disturbed, and he fails then in either case he will go on the Pitruyan and come back for another birth.
Wrote on all this in several posts.

      No exemption of any sort.
Imbalance created has to be resolved.
Burn it in the fires of your Dhyan. Or endure it in the prapancha of your life. Your choice.

Nothing is random in this creation. everything is very specific and has a reason. there are rules and Prakruti does not break her rules and neither does she allow any individual soul, jivatma to break them. it is very precise. exactly so.

        Hi madam,

Thanks a lot for detailed reply.
One of my grandmothers used to worship daily, but didn’t get along with her son and used to hate him because of her own reasons. During her last few months before her death, she lost her memory, but suffered a lot of physical pain.

Now some say, it was a good thing that she lost memory during her last days as she didn’t have any anger towards anyone and died peacefully, as apparently she didn’t show any negative emotions.

What do such people think who lose memory, is it a blessing in disguise.

  36. Sujata February 5, 2022 / 12:31 pm

I want to check something about studying my charts.

    1. Since I am above 48, the birth moon chart is more relevant, as pointed out by you in many posts.

    2. I’m Karka lagna in my birth chart. So there’s Moon/Cancer energy already present, this may add to the birth moon chart and I should keep this in mind.

    3. Now my doubt is about my navamsha. From your posts, I have understood this to be a key to the astral self, the sub-conscious, the potential etc. So this chart is always relevant since regardless of age or maturity of planets, my astral self/subconscious is always going to be at play.

So it is a combination of these three charts with their respective degrees of relevance.
Am I right in this approach?

Wishing you a happy Vasant Panchami!

    Sincere thanks…

    • astrologerbydefault February 5, 2022 / 5:47 pm

      Hi there
yes, as your planets have all maturesd, your sense of perspective has matured, so even if events occur as per the asc chart, your perspective will be the deciding factor on how much you let the event affect you. this is critical.

navamsha is always relevant, from a baby to a old person,
it short it indicates the person’s Dharma and the willingness of the person to follow it

A happy Vasant Panchami to you too

Somnath Temple is especially beautiful but I am not able to make out the identity of the white marble murti standing right behind the absolutely divine and majestic Shiv linga. Is it Parvati Devi?
I yearn to go there one day when Bhagavan blesses me…I have never been there.

Also, does reading any specific chapters of Devi saptashati or the entire book with the intention of getting married work?

    Dear Readers

some readers of my blog have managed to find my phone number/ email and are sending me personal msgs/emails.
i do not communicate on one to one with any one. i never break this rule.

if you like my posts or my thought processes, it is good but focus on the message and not the messenger. there is no need to think about me. if you are thinking of me, you are wasting your own thought energy and focus. it is not good for you and will harm you in the long run. instead it would be better to do your sadhana and progress on your individual path.

i do not appreciate being sent msgs all the time. do refrain from this.
and i do not teach Jyotish one one one.

Just wanted to drop in a line in response to this note above.

Sometimes, once in while, I find myself not even reading the comments sections (which is kind of person oriented even though it is full of loving comments, genuine questions and replies.)

I do this deliberately to tune into the post of my choice in pure satsang mode.. When the post is read in this mood of privacy, I see the words and thoughts…there is a power…

This power is impersonal. A voice speaking to my intellect, my heart etc.

You will never be a reader so you may never know this perspective. Maybe you too are hearing it as a voice when you write.

There is a lifetime supply of material in this blog. I hope and pray that all your readers discover this mode for themselves (I’m sure many already have) so that the paparazzi behaviour can subside…

May the benevolent Universe bless all of us..🙏

        Hi there
        yes, exactly,
i have written this several times that this is from the Sat Guru.
this power is within everyone of us, right at the 3rd eye pulling towards the Self.

i do understand that some of my readers feel very deeply for me, it is lovely and i do respect that emotion. feeling gratitude is necessary, it is the most elevating emotion.
i too thank u for the beautiful wishes and feelings.

but beyond that why think of me all the time?
i ‘Tejaswini’ am a ‘subject’ ‘vishay-vastu’ ie external to you.
why wish that i read charts or teach one to one or send one to one wishes?
better use of this thought energy is to focus on focus on your own solution.
the internal self, on your own self! your own mantra, own sadhana.

i too read several books, and most importantly have heard my Guru’s pravachans since i was a child. i do understand what you mean by the ‘voice within’

    Hi Tejaswiniji

Noticed something interesting. When the Moon is in 7th house in D1 , the Moon chart is the exact mirror image of the D1 ( geometrically obvious ).

Can we take a short cut and infer that the mental state and the ground reality will also be opposite or complimentary ? Example, someone might not have a strong 7th house and lacks a life partner in reality, but unaffected psychologically.

    • astrologerbydefault February 9, 2022 / 11:52 am

      Hi there
its always interesting to observe the interplay of the physical chart and moon chart.

moon in 7th will give a good spouse unless exceptionally spoilt, but then the entire mindset will be spoilt.

in this case you can read these posts i had written on

they will give you a sense of how the opposite signs interact and maybe help you crystallise your own asc/moon charts analysis .

i have seen several charts where if the moon and asc are placed such that the other planets are favourable for either one or the other, then this person remains exceptionally well balanced. Something always helps him, ie if the physical is bad then the emotional supports and if the emotional is bad then the physical gives him strength

Exactly what I was trying to phrase :).

” Something always helps him, ie if the physical is bad then the emotional supports and if the emotional is bad then the physical gives him strength ”

And this is what I observed in the life of that person, that despite a shapit dosh ( in this case it almost looks like a Yog instead of a dosh ),

and a stellium of combust planets, that life in general is pretty smooth.

Your name is Tejaswini…and when you are giving off this much light, this is bound to happen.

Remain in Vyasa Peeth mode when you are in the comments section. That will protect you.

Readers are accessing you/drawing you out on a “personal” mode here and there is an overstepping of boundaries after that.

Bhagavan Veda Vyasa will dissolve all the disturbances. 🙏

Re: Questions and reply on Sannyasins.
I think some sannyasis are going to be involved in society through some dharma/karma with pure intentions though it may seem unbecoming of them to do so. Maybe you could write about how to identify the honest ones. That will help many readers I’m sure.

Would love to hear about Kumbh Mela too…if the topic extends to this.

    Warm regards…

    • astrologerbydefault February 9, 2022 / 6:42 pm

      Hi there
when i write i think of my Guru, he doing it always.

Sanyasis have several functions depending on the order that they choose to join. they have to perform their personal sadhana but also have to protect Dharma, be a guiding light for their shishyas/disciples etc.
they are actually the backbone of the society. but they are outside society. they observe the flow and if required to train it to a proper direction they act.
eg the Naga sadhus always had the function of taking up arms and fighting for the Dharma and to some extent performing tantra for active protection.
eg the Nath sampraday sadhus perform tantra more than actual fighting etc.
eg the Advaita sadhus always had the function of using philosophy to protect Dharma. ie all this shastra-arth was performed by these sanyasis.
never underestimate the power of Bhagwa, the saffron, the color of the rising sun. those who wear it on their heads are always victorious.

    Hi Tejaswiniji

Does the Vargottam concept in DCs apply to Rahu Ketu too ?

      • Gayatri R February 9, 2022 / 9:16 pm

So basically the Rahu and Ketu behaviors ( excessive indulgence and detachment ) get accentuated ?

      • astrologerbydefault February 9, 2022 / 10:19 pm

        Hi there
        Not exactly ‘accentuated’ better ‘refined’
filtered into those aspects of existence indicated by those DC

    Namaskara Tejaswini ji

I was going through your article on friends and social circle

I have Rahu alone in 11th house and am nearing 40 years. In article it says “You don’t speak much”. That is very true. I somehow do not have big circle of friends. Whatever small group of friends , i wont say they have cheated on me. But they are not really close enough. Just kind of hi and bye types.

    Is it because:
    – my 11th lord is 12 places away from 11th house i.e. 10th house.
    – both guru and shani are aspecting 11th house sitting in different rashi’s. Guru is aspecting 11th house in navamsha chart as well (11th house is empty in navamsha).
But both Shani & Guru are retrograde in my chart

Please let me know what else might impact a fruitful circle of friends/social circle. Somehow even though relatives do engage but they do keep a distance, as in they are not very close. But my eldest brother has big group of friend circle and even relatives are close enough. Not sure what negative vibrations i am sending to keep them away. Thanks.

      Hi there
having less friends is not a negative. some people prefer it.

these posts are more to encourage you to introspect.
using the lens of Jyotish to observe your own behaviour

fr personal readings/remedies you should contact your regular astrologer.

    Hi madam,

What’s allowed and what’s not allowed in sutak period?

    • astrologerbydefault February 11, 2022 / 10:57 am

      Hi there
ref Garud puran, basiclly no shubh-karya can be performed nor can you go as a guest in other people’s shubh karya.

in case there is such in event in your family the Brahmin will be the best person to ask, as there are often additional cultural / family restrictions

but daily pooja/stotra is ok? one of our relatives does does bhikshuki, he informed that you should not do pooja and put up a cloth covering on your pooja ghar so that your shadow doesnt fall on it. is it correct?

      • astrologerbydefault February 11, 2022 / 11:52 am

        Hi there
some families do this too. they do not light deepak in the house, do not perform the daily pujas etc.
and some families i know will double their efforts in pujas and personal sadhana during the sutak period.
as i said it depends on the level of the aspirant, the deity worshiped in the house, the family traditions etc.

my personal example, when my Mom left fr pitrulok, my Dad performed all his daily pujas, personal pujas, all nitya karma etc without a break.
in my family we cannot imagine keeping the deities and the moorti of the Guru just like tht for so many days. its not just a ‘deity’, its a part of the family. eg we cannot even thinking of have food ourselves if we do not offer naivedya first.
if we are out from the house, ie it is locked, then we will do manas puja first before starting the day.

and gayatri puja cannot be stopped for any reason once you wear the yajnopavit. this was told to me by a senior astrologer who was told me that he did not do his gayatri puja only for one evening in his entire life as he had gone to the shmashan bhoomi for the anteyshti of his wife

I have heard that Tulasi (leaves or flowers) should not be plucked on ekadashi days. Are you aware of anything like this? Is there any significance to this? Please guide me.

    Many thanks 🙏

    Hello Madam,

How to mentally prepare for someone elderly who is physically weak . What to make them recite? You have mentioned mrityunjay mantra but that is for terminally ill and doctor has already given up hope for, i.e. one with lifetime of a few days left.
Also , how to prepare them for the same i.e. making them give up worldly desires. Is Garuda Purana advisable or some other thing.

    • astrologerbydefault February 12, 2022 / 3:29 pm

      Hi there
mahamrutyunjay mantra is the best option. if they cannot recite the family members can recite on their behalf.
if the dying person has his faith in some deity, kuldevata, guru? or has been doing some jaap? then remind him of this source of faith. put a photo of the deity where he can see it etc.

generally those who are on the verge of going to pitrulok are aware of their departure, their relatives come to support them a few days before this event occurs.

    Tejaswini Ji:
    This is a curiosity question.
As I read your blogs, I am blown away by your use of language (along with the all important content of the blog of course). Did you study English formally as a language? Or, is it divine grace?
    Just curious.
Not many people whose mother tongue is not English have this level of command over the language and its nuances.
I love reading your write-ups. It is a treat.
    Thank you.

      Hi there
You asked a small Q but I can’t help writing a longish reply as this is something that I really enjoy 🙂
I absolutely love reading books. i even remember the starter type books i used to read when i was in KG. The school I studied from is the best in Maharashtra, also in the top 5 schools in India. so you can imagine the quality of the school libraries. i was on very good terms with the Librarian and had complete access to the entire library including the ref sections which were only for teachers.

plus my dad was a member of 2 really good libraries. and i made full use of his library cards. the Librarian was my Dad’s friend and i was the kid who loved books, so again i had full access to the entire collection. i was reading grown-up level books while i was in school.

favs from my school days are Enid Blyton (i think every child should read her books), Agatha Christie, Jane Austen, Louis L’amour, Wodehouse, Arthur Clarke, Micheal Moorcock, Hitchcock,.
and i love comics too, Asterix Obelix is my all time fav, such beautiful language. and i would regularly buy the periodicals and magazines for kids. Going to book fairs and exhibitions was also a regular thing.
i as a kid I used to read at least one book/day on school days and 4-5 books/day during vacations. (I learnt speed reading very early in life.)
And this continues even now. I try to read something whenever I get time.
I prefer fiction and beautiful language. I feel it is better to read what the authors imagination has produced, it is more vibrant and diverse. i do not read non-fiction much.

And I started writing too very early in life. I used to write articles and poems for my school/college magazines. i remember once the school mag editor had no poems for the issue so he grabbed me and made me write some 7-8 poems back to back, for the mag and then published them as ‘anon’. i was so cross with him for days!
my school teachers would love reading my exam essays. i had discovered Wodehouse and realised that if you keep the language light and witty it is more engaging. the strictest teachers would give me top marks for my compositions.
I was always chosen for those House debate, elocution, extempore speech type of competitions and I would generally win them.

School/college days seem so lovely in retrospect. We had loads of time back then. Somehow going out with friends, playing games and also personal stuff like reading and writing. Could manage to do it all.

i have studied marathi till 7th, english and hindi till 10th, sanskrit till 12th std.
(i want a proper degree in Sanskrit, hopefully do a second PhD in it, if i get the time.)
i can write equally fluently in Hindi and Marathi too. but it is a more formal style in these languages.

So in short, I have a very good command over language, reading, writing and public speaking in English, Marathi and Hindi.

        Pranaam Madam,
This is so inspiring to read. Instead of the term “fan” I am going to say we are your sincere Abhimaanis, that conveys our sincere emotions and gratitude better than “fans”.

As Abhimaanis of your writing Madam, so many of the readers would have already suggested to write a book, so I am not going to say anything new!!

As an Abhimaani Madam, I humbly would like to guess that beyond your fluency in Devbhasha Sanskrutam, Marathi, Hindi and of course English, you must be having a definite grasp on so many other Indian languages too!!

The strength and energy of your words are immensely high and so overwhelmingly positive…

        Thanks is a small word…

Sincere regards best wishes and prayers as always,

        Hi there
i can read Devbhasha and can write in it. but cannot have sustained conversations in it now, earlier i could but now am out of practice.
my concentrated focused use of this at the present moment is to understand the mantra stotra shloks books etc that i read.

most Bharatiya languages are very similar, accent makes them sound different. i can understand quite a few Bharatiya languages enough to watch movies in these languages (with some help from subtitles). and movies are the best way of learning new languages. and am glad Pushpa movie has created this new form of national unity. if we can watch movies in english and other foreign languages, we shud also watch movies in our own languages. if we learn english, french, german, chinese, japanese etc then why not learn at least one other language of our own nation.

        Pranaam Madam,
Thanks so much for the inspiring reply! The Pushpa reference is so true! In Mumbai, so many people went and saw it in Telugu (with subtitles)!
As a side note, is there a stotram to recite only at night before going to sleep? I am asking this specifically as I understand it is not too advisable to recite mantras at night… But to avoid bad dreams, is there any particular stotram that can be recited at night ?

        Thanks again Madam!
Sincere regards best wishes and prayers as always,
