    Namaste Ma’am,

Could you guide on Bhagawan Shiv poojan ? Can we keep shivling at home? What should be the specifications? How to do daily pooja for Shivlinga?

Also, if I am going to the temple to offer jal or milk to Shivlinga, what is the the appropriate way to do that? What utensils to be used ( is copper vessel not advisable for milk?) sequence, mantras / shlokas to be chanted.

It will be really helpful if you can guide.

    • astrologerbydefault July 11, 2022 / 11:07 am

      Hi there
you can keep a shivlingam in your home puja ghar if you want to.
size should not be more than 2inches.
Material can b white quartz, parad, black stone, Narmadeshwar ie Banalingam.

Shivlingam does not ask for much puja,
but at the very least – lighting deepak, dhoop, karpur-arti, jal-abhishek, putting bhasma, reciting ‘om namah shivaya’ or mahamrutyunjai or any other mantra of your choice, putting bael leaves, bhang leaves, dhatura fruit, white flowers, etc as per what is available. and offering a naivedya panchamrut or even simple khadisakkhar or some fruit etc is also ok.

but whatever routine you decide on, (it may be fr 5mins or 1hr, your convenience) do it daily.
if you are out of station then sit in your hotel room for that 5mins and visualise the process in your mind for 5mins.

      temple shivlingam,
i have seen people offering water even in plastic bottles,
if you can afford, use a small silver kalash. you can buy it a your local jeweller, a small 50-100ml capacity ‘lota’ is also ok.
milk cannot be offered in copper vessels.

sequence of mantra will be this
      first mantra for Shri Ganapati
      second for Shri Guru
      third for Shri Vedpurush
      fourth for Devi Jagadamba
next is your mantra whatever it is
last is the shanti mantra –
Om purnamadah purnamidam purnat purnam udacyate
purnasya purnam adaya purnam Eva avashisyate
      Om shanti shanti shanti

sit in the temple for at least 2 mins after all this.

      • Hayls July 17, 2022 / 11:05 pm

        Hi Mam,

Thank you for the step by step instructions. I am new to this and not too familiar with the different mantras. For the mantra sequence you have listed, can we use the mantra sequence you provided in this post: ( i.e. steps 2-6) followed by ‘om namah shivaya’ or mahamrutyunjai and finally the shanti mantra you provided above?

      • astrologerbydefault July 18, 2022 / 5:54 am

        Hi there
        Fr temple.

        It can be simple as
        Om shri Ganapataye namah
        Om Shri Gurubhyo namah
        Om Shri Vedpurushaya namah
        Om Shri Jagadambikayai namah
Your mantras —- whatever they are
Ending everything with the shanti mantra.
        Sitting fr a few mins

Or you can choose whichever longer mantra you like.

Heartfelt Gratitude for detailed guidance Ma’am 🙏. I definitely feel that coming across your blog is a blessing . It shows path for some one like me who is uninitiated. Thank you so much!

I am feeling guilty of offering milk from copper vessel twice before. Elderly lady in Mandir told me about not offering milk from copper vessel ( you have also mentioned that) which I will follow now but feeling bad about doing that before.

    • astrologerbydefault July 11, 2022 / 12:58 pm

      Hi there
you are your own judge, jury and prison.
everything is forgiven, but only once.
so try to forgive yourself and remember the rule for the future.

for all puja related utensils, if you can afford it then silver is the best option.
but in reality, try to create the emotion, Bhagwan takes only the Bhaav/emotion, not the physical object.
and there are no rules fr emotion, only purity and dedication (Shuddhata and Samarpan) is required.

      • Pathfinder July 11, 2022 / 1:57 pm

Totally agree Ma’am. Thank you .

  3. Saurabh July 11, 2022 / 9:25 pm

Does Venus in Libra Lagna act as Maraka if alone and how its effect is modified if conjunct with Mars and further if 3rd Aspect of Saturn is cast on this conjunction from 11th house (As Saturn is Yogakaraka for Libra Lagna).

Also why is sun badhaka for Libra (owner of 11th house of gains) and is sun conjunction rahu in 12 th house good for Libra ascendent as sun is engulfed by rahu.

  4. Reader July 11, 2022 / 9:33 pm

    Hi Madam,

the shakti paat diksha means what exactly? I mean how does it happen? Like a Guru touches a person and the person immediately gets “realisation” ?
Also, how does one know if he is realised or not, otherwise?

    • astrologerbydefault July 11, 2022 / 10:27 pm

      Hi there

      साधु | सत्यवचन |

it depends on the level of the disciple.
for most it is like a diksha,
ie a naam mantra is given and the body/mind/soul is tuned to that mantra by the Guru.

realization can be step by step, obviously you will first merge the lower chakra into the ajnya/kutasth, then merge the jivatma into the bindu, then this bindu too into the Advaita.
      there is a progression.

but what happens at that instant of realisation? that i do not know.

very very rarely, the disciple is already at such a level, by his sadhana from his previous lives,
that just a glance of an Atmajnyani mahapurush is enough to grant him Moksh. or just touching his feet. or just by listening to a mantra in his voice.
The 4 Sanatkumar muni were given this ‘Shaktipaat’ by Bhagwan Dakshinamurti in ‘silence’. here even the words were not required.

  5. Reader July 11, 2022 / 9:51 pm

    Hi madam,

I was reading below paragraph from Navmasha post

“The D-9 is not used for predicting the tangible life events. The D-9 is sort of a complicated continuous ‘Now’. You ‘are’ your D-9 which is manifested in the physical environment as the D-1. The D-9 is not linked to time/space and it represents everything from your past and parallel lives which is influencing your reality/D-1. You are your astral self, you manifest portions from your astral periodically with the placements of the D-1, and then again go the astral to recover. This happens temporarily while you sleep and permanently when your body dies. Do read my post on Moksh trikon to understand more.”

I had also heard that matter exhibits properties of wave and all waves pass through zero like sine wave. So, we don’t really exist as such but keep on changing, but time period is infinitesimally small ( tends to 0), so frequency tends to infinity. If we take a person’s photo after an hour or so, we wont necessarily be able to distinguish any parameters different but he must have changed many times during that time period.
Same principle is used by Siddhas to surpass space, time I think. they convert mass into energy and vice versa.

But then continuous “you” should be depicted by smallest possible DC ( D100 or so?) right? because its smallest measurable part of D1 rather than D9

    • astrologerbydefault July 11, 2022 / 10:38 pm

      Hi there
we r always changing. that is the nature of creation, prakruti, maya etc etc. it continually changes. it is linked to our mind which does not stay still fr even one instant.
in fact all this sadhana is to get the mind to focus for just one instant. when it happens it will be moksh.
‘quantum physics’ is nothing but Advaita.
you can understand our Sanatan dharma either in math or in sanskrit. no other ‘language’ can express our philosophy.
eg limits, derivatives, integration in math are the same ‘nearest’ concept in advaita.
if someone is good in math and sanskrit, then he will be able to understand our philosophy more easily than others.

      there is no ‘matter’
i watched a movie ‘lucy’ a few years ago. at the very last she gives the example of a speeded up car.
if you can expand and simultaneously make your perception very subtle you can understand what matter, energy, etc really is. it is pure intelligence, or consciousness, or awareness.

it is possible that you might feel some other DC to better express the ‘continuous you’. if so you should do some study on your sample charts.

fr me however, the 9th house is the kind-pin of the chart, the foundations of your existence in every possible way. i find this D9 very elegant, fr the one reason that there are 108 navamsha parts in the zodiac.

  6. reader July 11, 2022 / 10:54 pm

    Hi Madam,

you mentioned that you used to take clients and now that part is over.
I am curious to know as to how you selected which clients to take? Like only those you had some interactions somewhere in earlier lives ( means no new client technically :D) ? or all clients as such?

  7. Sunil B July 12, 2022 / 2:10 am

I read your article on Vargottama for divisional charts where you mentioned about Libra lagna being vargottama in 7 out 10 charts. I am not sure what it means. Certainly having venus in the first house in libra and libra lagna in many DC’s, I do not think I see any huge benefit in terms of status, career, wealth or family. It has been steady struggling progress though.

  8. Nagarathna July 12, 2022 / 11:28 pm

In one of your blogs on planets in the 12th house, you mention that when Moon is in the 12th house, it almost always indicates absent mother, no motherly love or nurture, etc.

One of my children has moon in 12th house – in fact, along with Rahu.

I am not trying to be defensive. At my age, I am willing to accept all my shortcomings. I am asking this just trying to understand the astrological Truth more accurately.

I think I was a pretty good and responsible mother. Is it possible to align the two?

    Hi Madam,
Wish you a happy Guru Poornima!

I have a question regarding 12th house lord.
Is 12th house lord always bad?
How would be the dasha period of 12th house lord if 12th house lord happens to be the rasi lord as well?

Eg: Mercury as 12th lord for Cancer ascendant with moon in 12th house.

    Thanking you!

    Hi Madam,

it is said in Mahabharata that Barbarik was the greatest warrior of them all, who could end the whole war in just 3 arrows. is it true story or just some rumor?

Also, when all the pandava’s were on their way to heaven, only the pandav who was immaculate could reach at the gate of heavens+ a dog with him. Bheem was the first to fall of the road. When Yudhishthir was asked, he said Bheem was gluttonous. But, Bheem, being son of Vayu, had his sense’s under his control fully, compared to all other pandava’s , as was seen in game of dice where he was the only one who kept his gaze up.

    • astrologerbydefault July 15, 2022 / 12:19 pm

      Hi there
there are about 280 versions of the Ramayan. and similarly there are several versions of the Mahabharat where local traditions, local folk heros etc have all been added.
the invaders took special efforts to burn our universities and libraries.
the last one was in Kolkata which had the last ancient copy of the Ramayan which the British systematically burnt down.
tens of millions of our books were burnt, and the authorities (Brahmins), who had them by heart were murdered.
Genocides in Bharat were never documented.

      so the originals are lost.
however one thing that i am sure of in Ramayan is that the Ithihas ends at the coronation of Shri Ram, as the first sarga, where Narad Muni briefly narrates the Ramayan (Samshepa Ramayan), he ends with the coronation and then gives the phala-shruti. its just 100 shloks which one can even read daily.

Barbarik is not a commonly accepted character in the itihas.
he is however considered to be the son of Hidimbaa and Bhim. so again we come to the core land of Bengal and its peripheral lands of Nepal, north East, Orissa where he may have ruled.
if he did exist, then he must have been an absolute master of Tantra. that says it all.

Mahabharat has again several layers, just like Ramayan. so this part if read in the spiritual concept.
the sequence is first Draupadi, Sahadev, Nakul, Arjun and finally Bhim.

have you got a copy of the Pranav Gita?
then read it, the Swami has clearly discussed ‘what all’ the 5 Pandavs and Draupadi really represent.

      Yudhisthir is the Akash tattva.
when the Vishuddhi chakra is pierced in Sadhana, the sound of the Ananta vijaya conch is ‘heard’ and then the mind is to be merged in this sound. this is the Asamprajnyat samadhi.

for the rest read the book.

    Hi Ma’am,

I read your posts about houses left empty and being inhabited by negative energies as result.I am due for long term travel and have to lock the flat. I wanted to check some practices/ items that I could use to shield the flat while I am gone:

Darbha grass at the corners of the flat with mantra chanting, a bowl of salt in the kitchen, sprinkle ganga jal/puja water before I go.

One small top window has to be left very slightly ajar for minimal ventilation…I could leave a darbha there too.

Would you recommend any more precautionary measures?
    Many thanks.

This is a question that has perplexed me for a long time. Not sure if you are familiar with this aspect but I belong to the Veerashaiva community. It is predominantly an agricultural community. We always bury our dead – presumably usually in the farm but nowadays, of course, there are burial grounds specifically for the townspeople. Obviously, there is a lot of religious protocol that is followed during the burial and on the 11th day or the 13th day, we usually have a Swamiji from our Mutt come and we do Padapuja for him as he is looked upon as an incarnation of Shiva.

Coming to the question – I cannot believe that all our departed souls over the millennia are hovering around not getting moksha because we didn’t burn the bodies.

Please share your thoughts on this. I really would appreciate that.

      Hi there
Sanatan Dharma has 16 compulsory Sanskar. Sanskar is not a ‘ritual’. Anteyshti is the last one, the Antim Sanskar.

    Hello Madam,

Can you say something about the whole “nadi jyotish”. From what i have read on net, it’s south indian system where based on your name, they are able to tell events from one’s past very precisely and they use some very old books for this. Don’t know the whole mechanism of this system.

      Hi there
A baby, when it starts eating solid food, starts developing self ego at this time. At About 6mths.
Wrote a post on child chakra development.
A child who starts getting his permanent teeth, ie after the age of 6-7 yrs is in my opinion a full fledged independent individual. His own karma start operating. So everything shud b applied as per rules after this age.
Some people consider the second cycle ie 14yrs and development of the complete adult teeth set as the cut off point.
there are always cultural and traditional variations, so what u shud do is upto u.

There is a search bar on the site.

      Also u can type
“” “search term” into the google search bar.

  24. Niha July 20, 2022 / 11:17 am

Ma’am, I was taking guidance from multiple articles of yours and BPHS. Came across this extremely straight one

There is a male chart, I have received, for my marriage where I need your help, please. I got along this guy in initial meetings but his chart shows a lot of problem to me, now.

    *Leo ascendant*

7th house has three planets – merc, sat, mars (sat and mars are combust/ close proximity longitudinally with sun)

None of them are that strong (sat and mars have some 400 shadbala and combustion) merc barely 380. 2nd lord sits 6th to it and is weak…….did bring ‘no wealth’, ‘litigation and dispute on native property’, the family has nothing to call their own.

Mars in 7th is manglik even though yogakarka and it gets exalted in navamsha in Capricorn still with saturn in 7th house.

Coming to marriage and its sustenance, his 8th house has 19 points in ashtakvarga, sun and exalted venus in it. Logically, if malefic house have weak ashtakvarga, its good….they are weak to give even bad results by that logic.

His asc lord barely had 446 shadbala but more ishta phala and is in. P bhadra nakshatra pada 4 jupiter. Ascendant has 29 ashtakvarga (bhava bala…..almost all are above 480 points except for 2nd and 8th)

Problem- navmsha 1/7 axis is crowded. Cancer ascendant with sun and rahu. 7th has exalted mars, combust sat, ketu. Being a male chart, spouse or marriage – venus goes in 5th house scorpio alongwith mercury, here.

Problem – Jupiter which is 8th lord is retro and sits in 3rd house in D1 and 10th house in D9. This jupiter has 5th aspect on the eventful 7th house, manglik and combust mars and saturn + merc.

Problem- moon which is the only malefic as per your article on functional for leo, sits in bhagya house (9th) and is surprisingly strong with 480 shadbala and around 70 ishta phala and 0 kashta phala

Having born in magha, his father underwent major surgeries post his birth. They don’t get along but this guy is pretty caring and focus as i have observed. Only god knows how is father is alive with so much suffering… Their family pandit said during his childhood….about some rakshasha yoga. Don’t even know if this exists..but the father is a burden, erratic, straining them financially, emotionally and healthwise for years.

My uncertainty is with three things here mam that I don’t think his pandit have guided correctly by reading. I am afraid as we don’t consult regular or any astrologers. You did say once that people lie these days

    1. His sade sati will start as saturn goes in pisces. It will be a bad one as saturn as barely given 2,1,3 points in pisces, aries, taurus. This means if we get married next year……it will be a vortex of 7.5 years of instability.

    2. His Moon dasha begins next year in march. Moon in 9th house of aries and goes in 11th taurus in D9. Ideally by ishta phala it should do wonders and transformation for him but you said 12th lord’s dasha is never peaceful..spikes…..marriage again ……will it be a bad decision and suffering?

    3. His longevity was said to be very low by his pandits, as being transparent of him……40s max

Since venus is exalted representing spouse in his chart ……I being interested in spiritual, astrological science… navamsha it goes in scorpio…..natural 8th house of sudden transformation shock, longevity. Does my association with him will cause the good way transformation or end his life?

I am a leo, too. Like you also say…..leo does not enjoy good marital life anyway. Both of our saturn is in 7th house and in shatabhisha Nakshatra. We are hardly two months apart, same year. Jupiter retro from 3rd, just that my planets are sitting more dignified and has much more fiery energies. His emotional signs are heavier as per chart.

Would really appreciate if you can throw any light ma’am or word of caution. Even if hints. My parents do not believe in astrology. I don’t know what karma we are kicking in by meeting each other.

      Hi there
for personal readings contact you Jyotishi.

each chart is different, and it requires some experience to assimilate all the different positions and come to a considered conclusion.
if you are a beginner then maybe you do not have this experience to judge the chart. consult someone.
and not all Jyotishis are bad! there are good ones out there,

and finally whatever the chart may be, if you continue your daily pujas sincerely, esp the Shri Sukta, the power of your own sadhana ensures a happy married life.

charts are for us to know what sort of assets / liabilities / attributes / power we have we are so that we can take a considered decision on how we want to use all this.
before starting learning/practicing any vidya get your siddhant right.
      astrology is not fatalistic .

    • astrologerbydefault July 20, 2022 / 2:08 pm

      Hi there
you should first consult a medical professional.
do share your feelings with someone, ie your parents, friend, brother, sister, teacher etc and try to get medical help as soon as possible.

and if you are interested in spiritual activities, do some regular pujas of your Kul devata or if you do not know who this is then Shri Ganapati is the best option.
Offer Arghya to the Sun and water to the Tulasi plant at the very least.

but first consult a medical professional.

chakras/fire in the heart does not get extinguished like this. do some daily 5 min puja of your kuldevata.

and do seek counselling from a medical professional.

  26. vartika July 20, 2022 / 2:03 pm

    Hello Ma’am,

An interesting question (for me 🙂 came to my mind and I googled my way back to your forum…..ever thought of enlightening us on the very basics such as ‘Why someone like me was born in Ajmer’? That very same coordinate of Bharat. Do we have any ancient text that goes beyond panchang and speaks of geography since a place has so much history associated in terms of providing macro environment to a soul?

I know you have written very less on nakshatras, tithi, panchang post assessment in detail, as of now. Basic posts, I have read.

The reason this came to my mind was, if we choose our karma and take a deep dive to get into a physical body during the transit from pitru<matr lok……

    1. do we decide or the chart of our parents, who become a catalyst for our soul's existence here'? I chose them to be my parents and did this happen before my mom conceived…..those 9 months belong to whom…..the child getting developed/ nurtured inside?

    2. The earthy effect has a bigger role here……the coordinate……the rising sign on horizon hence I had to be born on this day, at this coordinate was matching the energy needed to push me safely onto this dimension and hence they (my parents) who were expecting me / expecting in general were in Ajmer (doing what they were professionally away from home)

Not surprising now when I know things, I was born in May 1994, (leo rising), Mars in 9th, sun in 10th house and my younger sister in July 1997 and the moment she (Taurus rising) was born with Sun and Venus in cancer, Jup in 9th…….my dad got promoted as a gazetted officer and transferred to Gujarat near Narmada river as a gazetted govt officer. I guess her Sun in moveable sign, ketu and jupiter in 10th (ketu MD born) did the trick of fortune, luck and blessings for them…….while during my time, he was just preparing or maybe struggling till she arrived.

Would love to hear and gather from your thoughts on these.

I am just happy I can make sense of whatever little I know of this deep science esp on people closest to me. Sometimes, I feel, life chal hi rahi thi sahi jab ye sab nahi pata tha! Parents have brought us so well, sheltered, guides us through correct liberal, progressive values……retro jupiter, not knowing kul devta but being respectful towards all elders and believing in karma also keeps you aive, kicking……….knowing astrology might only make it unnecessary dwelling or complex esp. since my parents say…….no one can predict correctly not even astrologers…….it is guided intuition and data extrapolation over the years of looking at combos in chart….so you better stay on right path as per whatever you know today! without worrying what you might know later – right or wrong.

  27. Simmar July 20, 2022 / 5:19 pm

    Namaste Tejaswiniji,
Absolutely love all your articles and look forward to reading all of them. I read your articles on “Combustion” and “Gaj Kesari” – you’ve mentioned that the dignity of combust planets must be checked in Navamsa as well. In my daughter’s chart, Leo Asc, she just a close Jupiter Moon conjunction in 5th house and Sun Mercury in Scorpio in 4th. Her Jupiter, Mercury are combust. She has same conjunction of Jup-Moon in 9th in D9 chart and Mercury Venus in fifth. Would this combustion have an effect? Request for your answer to this please! Regards and Thankyou so much!

    • astrologerbydefault July 20, 2022 / 6:35 pm

      Hi there
Combustion always has an effect. but here Sun is the asc lord himself in the 5th house, its also a potential raj yog.
and the moon-jupiter too will have their own effect

having 4 planets in the 5th house will give the chart more avenues to express its creativity.
however read on the graha yuddha, stellium, planetary friendship concepts too.

its a good combination, just teach your child some daily pujas so that the energy can be harnessed usefully

      • Simmar July 20, 2022 / 8:10 pm

Her Asc lord Sun is in 4th with Mercury (c) and Jup-Moon (c) in 5th in D1.

  28. Simmar July 20, 2022 / 7:58 pm

Thankyou so much for answering my query! 🙏
Actually, as a mother, her chart worries me a lot. She has Saturn ketu in lagna Leo…Saturn vargottam, goes to 12th house in d9 and she has Moon in Moola nakshatra. She’s a loner … Finds her company in books only.

I’ll surely teach her some poojas as you say…but as of now she’s not really spiritual.

    Much regard to you 🙏

    • astrologerbydefault July 21, 2022 / 8:10 am

      Hi there
Children, at the very young age are not ‘spiritual’.
they are supposed to be taught how to follow Dharma at this age. not as a burden but as a source of happiness, faith, shraddha etc.
and this comes automatically as they see their parents perform their own daily pujas, special anushthans, all the pujas which are associated with the festivals that are a part of Dharma etc. they too participate and all this becomes their life foundation, Dharma.

genuine spirituality comes only after a person reaches the vanprasthashram stage. ie after all the duties of the householder’s life are complete. Generally i consider this to be at the age of 60yrs, ie the average retirement age.

if a child is unwilling to do even a basic daily Surya arghya, Gayatri mantra (or any one mantra of the deity that the family worships), light a dhoop/ deepak/ offer flowers and do namaskar to the the household deity, then the fault is solely of the parents, the parents have failed to teach the child the importance of these daily activities.
a child who has not been given a foundation of Dharma is eventually going to be an unbalanced adult in the future.

      • Simmar July 21, 2022 / 3:25 pm

Namaste Tejaswiniji, a heartfelt thankyou to you for reverting back on my query. 🙏

  29. Simmar July 21, 2022 / 3:57 pm

    Namaste Tejaswiniji,
Your articles on the three Gunas, Mantra Sadhana and dos and don’ts of Sadhana are certainly very relevant to a sadhak.

Can you please tell me about increased sensitivity as one delves deeper into spirituality. Why does this happen? Is it because one needs to follow the rules of sadhana more diligently ….like restricted communication with others? How can one strike a balance and stay strong on the path of serious sadhana? How does one stay protected from the tamasic energies that get ‘unsettled’ as we step more into satvoguna?

his new, western concept of “Empaths” comes to my mind. Please can you shed some light on this?🙏

I’m also very very attracted to Devi sadhana esply Ma Kali/Durga….even though I’m not a Hindu!
Should I just do sadhana of more pacifist forms of Mother …like Ma Saraswati Ma Lakshmi?
Do I need deeksha to do any mantra jaap?
As a householder, should I do only minimum required sadhana? I actually never wanted to get married, wanted to be a renunciant, but my father insisted on doing my ‘karma’. I’m happy in my marriage though and I think it’s made me more balanced. I had left my meditations for a long time after marriage, was enjoying the material pleasures of life. But recently, this inner yearning towards Divinity has reignited! I’m 43 now!

Please guide! I don’t have any living Guru! 🙏

    • astrologerbydefault July 21, 2022 / 5:15 pm

      Hi there
Every sadhana/ puja/ Upasana/ Vidya that you pursue or practice has to be based on Siddhant (concept).
And the Siddhant can come only from the Vedant.
If you do not have the proper Siddhant backing you then whatever Sadhana etc you do will land you in trouble.

If you do not have the correct concept driving your spiritual practice then you will face all these issues like increased sensitivity, becoming an empath etc. being an ‘empath’ is not a good thing. This means that your mind is unstable.

So for serious practitioners, the first thing is to read is the Vivek Chudamani by Adi Guru Shankaracharya. Read this a few times, it will establish the correct Siddhant for your Sadhana. If you cannot read Sanskrit and then the English translation by Swami Madhavanand is a good option.

Most problems start when you jump from one mantra to another or follow wrong ‘mantras’ given by celebrity ‘gurus’.
So stick to only one mantra or only one Stotra or only one Sukta. This will be your lifetime practice.
Eg Gayatri mantra, Mahamrutyunjai mantra. Recite this 108 times, at least twice day.
Or Devi Atharvasheersha to Ganapathi Atharvasheersha. Recite this twice a day.
Or Shri Sukta again twice a day.
Or Soham 108 times, twice a day.
etc , whatever appeals to you as per the deity you adore.

Then you can add some more for special days.
Eg Shravan month Mondays, you can do some stotra for Bhagwan Shankar.
      Shravan Tuesdays, Devi mantra
      Navratri – Devi mantra
Bhadrapad Shukla paksha – Shri Ganapati mantra.
But all this will b in addition to your daily practice.

      Who is a Hindu?
      1. Someone who follows his/her conscience.
      2. Someone who at the end of his/her physical existence, has the cremation, Anteyshti sanskar performed for the body he/she has discarded. (There are technically 16 right actions, Sanskars, but the 16th one is critical as it helps you leave this dimension and safely reach the dimension of the ancestors)

Shri Sukta is the safest, easiest, and gentlest yet the most powerful Sukta for Devi worship, you are ultimately worshipping Devi Shri ie Devi Lalitatripursundari, ie Devi Prakruti herself with this. It can be recited generally if you are sincere about it.

If you can find a Guru who can give Diksha it will enhance the intention etc. but even if you do not have a physical Guru in front of you, you can still consider the Devi herself as a Guru and be sincere about your practice.

Householders are required to do a basic daily routine, eg Surya Arghya, morning worship of the household deities and in the evening light a deepak before the tulsi plant and evening worship of the household deities.
In addition the daily personal mantra.
Also the special pujas from time to time which are to be done on the festival days, Purnimas, special tithis/lunar days etc.
If you can do even this much it will be a big achievement.

If someone does not want to get married, then the only other option is to take up Sanyas. and most charts that i have seen are not suitable for becoming a Sanyasi. (i have seen only 1 chart in so many years, )
so it is better to marry, contribute to the society, raise Dharmic children, perform the Dharmic activities, daily pujas etc and at the age of 50+ to start moving more strongly towards internal spirituality.

i have written several posts on all these topics, do use the index page or the search bar.

    2. Please Please write on Amavasya birth.

    Best regards

Dear Tejaswini, Namaste. Thank you so much for putting out into the world your perspective rooted in Advaita on how to use astrology as a tool to guide oneself on the path to Self Realization. I was so grateful to the Universe for bringing me here. Would you consider writing an article on Saturn-Ketu Conjuction? My son, who is 26, has this in the 3rd house of his D1 chart ( and he is additionally going through his Shani Mahadasha and Jama Shani as well). His suffering at this moment is intense. Would love to know from a Vedantic perspective – What is the Universe trying to teach him? And me as his mother ? Is there a remedy for this?

  32. Reader July 24, 2022 / 2:09 pm

    Hi madam,

In some cases, asc lord is strong and asc sign is weak ( in terms of ashtakvarga score), and vice versa. But in both cases, the pooja of asc lord planet is to be done. But there must be some difference in both the situations right?

  33. Nagarathna July 25, 2022 / 11:38 pm

Does Mars and Rahu being in the same house/rashi in Navamsha chart(in Pisces-12th house) have the same effect as Mars and Rahu being in the same house/rashi in the birth chart? Is it as dangerous as some astrologers make it out to be?

  34. S July 26, 2022 / 6:49 pm

    Namaste Respected Madam,

I was re reading some of your older posts and came across this sentence in a post about departed souls.

“We then give away all the clothes and everything used by the departed person. ”

How should we do this appropriately? I understand that jewelry can be recast.

    1. Is it fine to give away clothes and other personal accessories( like wallet, watch and things like that) to a charity?

    2. Most families ( including ours) have the habit of hanging the photos of departed souls on the wall ( mostly southern walls). Is it better not to hang pictures?

Since you mentioned the idea behind ancestor rituals in our culture is more pragmatic did the practice of hanging photos arise from a sentimental value at some point in time?

Much gratitude for everything you do!

    • astrologerbydefault July 26, 2022 / 8:49 pm

      Hi there
most families give away the daily use clothes etc to the poor/ charity etc.
some give the very personal items like specs, watch etc into the fire itself.
most families cannot afford to give away furniture or the more expensive items. eg in south we wear really expensive silk saris which are generally not given away. they are just too expensive.
so in this case these items should be first cleaned/ laundered etc before someone else re-uses or wears it.

earlier few families had the resources to get paintings made of the departed ones.
gold/ silver coins were often made, marked with the name of the departed ones as a remembrance.
but generally the name of the departed person was added to the vanshavali at the temple of the kuldevata. that was about it.
we were a pragmatic people back then.

if you want to, you can keep photo frames of the departed ones on the south walls, it is purely a personal choice. it is just coz photos are easily available these days.

once my Guru said that we humans are also called ‘bhoot’ because we have the habit of reliving the bhoot-kaal again and again and staying stuck in the past.
we must be able to use the experiences of the past to build on, but live in the present moment and thus secure our future.

sentiment is fine, but it has to remain within limits.

  35. Pathfinder July 26, 2022 / 11:29 pm

    Namaste Ma’am,

We had made silver moorties in devghar from the silver coins we had got in the gift. I read somewhere that you should not do so( make moorties from gifts) , I wanted to make moorties again and do pran pratishtha . What can be done with the current moorties? We were planning to give these moorties to the jeweller after abhishek and donate that money and make new moorties ( from our money). What would be the right thing to do if we want to make the new ones?

Also, can you advise on whether we can keep taak or moorties ?? Is there any difference in rituals to be followed with either of them?

Your guidance would help us to decide.

    • astrologerbydefault July 27, 2022 / 12:12 pm

      Hi there
i was referring to those ‘gift articles’ of the Shri Ganpati and other deities which are now given as ‘gifts’ or ‘show pieces’. or large sized ones or made from white marble or resin or glass etc.
i really do not understand how and when our deities became ‘show pieces’!

large sized moortis are only for temples as they require more pujas, which is not possible in the home puja ghar.

you can worship small sized moortis made of silver, gold, panchadhatu, ashtadhatu etc.
Sometimes specific material is used eg parad shivlingm, Sphatik shivlingam, natural stones like banalingam, shaligram etc.

you can continue using the ones you are already worshipping.

there is no difference in embossed/engraved taak or a carved moorti. it is the same energy. you can worship either.
If you are worshipping a taak then it means that it must be in your family puja ghar since several generations, it must have gained significant power in all this time.

      • Pathfinder July 27, 2022 / 4:59 pm

        Thank you Ma’am.

Actually the moorties( the ones we are worshipping daily)are made out of silver coins( we exchanged the coins for moorties at the jeweller .)which were gifted so technically we had not spent money making the moorties hence is the query whether we should make new moorties from our expenses.

We currently have moorties n no taaks. So while we are thinking of re doing the moortis, we wanted to understand what should we make moorties or taaks.

    Namaste Madam,
I was fortunate to read your posts on how to select auspicious dates for new ventures, etc which is extremely valuable..

My short query , is there anything that one could do when we have no control over the date, say for example, the reopening day for a new year is fixed by the institution, thus non negotiable. What to do if that day is not ideal for example Tithi falls into place and Karana , but maybe not Nakshatra or Yog. Anything we could do from our side?

    Sincere regards,

    • S July 27, 2022 / 2:31 pm

Thanks Madam , I agree . Not a personal project, just that it was a new day for a course that I had signed up for. Sorry I was not clear in my wording.

The first day is fixed by the institution, hence asked the query.

      Sincere regards,

        Hi there
If it is for education, then do some simple puja/mantra of Shri Ganpati or Devi Sarasvati.

In your articles regarding Ascendants and their auspiciousness and troubles, you’ve mentioned only Moon (besides Rahu ketu) as inauspicious for Leo and Sagittarius ascendants. I’ve heard, however, Saturn to always be troublesome esply for Leo natives. Please can you lend some clarity to this…esply if Saturn is in Asc Leo.

I myself am Sagittarius ascendant and have Saturn in my 9th in Leo and also parivartan of 2nd (Sun in Capricorn) and 9th leo Saturn.

In fact, many in my family have Saturn in Leo. Please tell me what does it imply?

Regards and thankyou for sharing your wisdom! 🙏🙏

    Hi Madam,

Would you share how you found your SatGuru? Or rather he found you?
I have heard some people saying that generally a person on spiritual path follows one particular lineage and Guru shishya parampara is maintained through many births. So, for example if you have been devotee of Datta Sampraday, it is better to pray to that form of diety as it gives faster results on spiritual progress.

    • astrologerbydefault July 27, 2022 / 10:32 pm

      Hi there
I was born in the family.
generations from my great grandparents till my son now, and all my extended family members.

There is only one Guru, the one inside you.

and how would do you know what sampradaya you were in your past lives?

do whatever you want to, but if you want Moksh you have to come to the Vedanta and only Vedant.
but you cannot reach Vedant just like that.
one of the better routes to the Vedant is the Shri Vidya.
and to reach Shri Vidya you have to first prepare with the very many less intense Vidyas.
if someone is talking about the Vedant in this life, then this soul must have spent the past couple of thousand years trying to assimilate it.
and a couple of thousand before that with the Shri Vidya.
and tens of thousands before that as a regular Gruhast doing the daily gruhast pujas etc.

What is your take on rikta tithis ( chaturthi, navami, chaturdashi) in terms of shubha muhurta.?

Can we conduct auspicious events or start new endeavors on these days?

    • astrologerbydefault July 28, 2022 / 8:40 am

      Hi there
      Generally they are not used.
But ideal muhurt is also not possible.
So we try to match max possible positives and then leave it to the deities.

  40. Reader July 28, 2022 / 7:59 am

    Hi madam,

    thanks for replying

    1) Because you remember many of your past lives, how was the path of finding a Guru? You mentioned that you are having guru from last 4 generations or so, also you said that you were born in western countries too many lives back Poland, russia etc. So, did you have no person as a guru back then or did you have someone else? also, do all the people who attain moksha have had some person as a guru guiding them? or the path can be taken alone?

I actually had read a book and met a person named Dr Sunil Kale. I had mentioned his name on blog some 2 years back but you had deleted it, hence it created a doubt that if i am following a wrong guru or what. So, his philosophy is that a person has been worshipping a particular form of diety and if he continues on the same path, his progress will be faster. So, he gives a particular naam during naam diksha, which is different for different one, and has the name of that diety. Also, mentions what you did wrong and name of the person who you have hurt the most in the past lives, and ask for forgiveness from him/her daily and hence facing some problems (because no one turns to spirituality just like that, unless somebody faces some issues in physical world , my observation).

Now the incidence which he mentioned tallies with what i observe about my virtues/vices, in this life. So, is it correct to conclude that he is the right guru? i am not sure because then i wouldn’t have found your blog . also, many of the things from your blog also resonate with me.

So, to summarize, in this life, is it better to do personal sadhana (the stotras which you have mentioned (like shree sukta, saptashloki, beej mantra of any particular diety i am fond of+ the naam which he has given) rather than pursuit of some person as a guru?

    2) you said first step is to do daily poojas as per gruhast people then some very less intense vidyas and then shree vidya.

    i read below post

so, first step should be 9 lakh jap of nav varna mantra right?

i have been doing daily repetitions of other stotras mentioned but not this yet.

    3) Also, what can be the objective check of a person progressing on spiritual path ?
like his breath becoming slow steady and of long duration? because from what i have read all the people who progress greatly have some sort of siddhi, means they must have mastered some of the 10 maha vidyas. is it correct?

    thanks and good day

    • astrologerbydefault July 28, 2022 / 11:46 pm

      Hi there
When the student is ready the Guru has to appear, this is the rule. So one has to continue doing something daily, regularly with shraddha.
it can be fr 5min or for 5hrs. but it should not become a burden.

Do not bother about past lives.
(And my past lives are irrelevant to you and also to me.)

Earlier Sanatan Dharma was prevalent all over the world, and soon it will again be.

Guru is not a physical person, never ever.
I always give the example of Mata Anandmayi, a Atmajnyani Mahapurush who did not have a physical person visible as a Guru.

Even if I have a face to put to my Guru, I know that the Guru actually has no face, no figure.
The Guru is the Advaita itself, it is Nirgun.
You cannot see the Guru with your eyes nor hear his voice with your physical ears.
Maun, ‘the silence which says it all’ is the real ‘language’ of the Guru. That is why we revere the Shri Dakshinamurti.
You cannot reach the Self without the Guru. Moksh is not possible without the Guru.
Wrote a few posts on this. (index page)
Guru is a force, an intelligence, a consciousness, not a person.

Focus on what the teaching is all about. Never focus on the person.
You can respect the person etc, but do not go crazy about him.
ask him questions, evaluate his answers. if you feel that this works for you then give him your faith and follow his teachings, else keep on searching.

Even fr this blog, do not think about me ever. Focus on what is written, but only if it makes sense to you. if not then you should search for what makes sense to you.

Once my Guru said, ‘if you come then you are welcome, if you go away then it is ‘bheed kam’ (less crowd)..

I do not want to comment on what someone does, or teaches, as it is nothing to do with me.

I do not like living in the past. I have never advocated past life regression or delving into past history or reminiscing about the past or getting senti about the past. Doing this ruins the present moment and also the future.
If you continue to live in the ‘bhoot kaal’ you also become a ‘bhoot’.
      this is my personal opinion.

You are your own prison, you are your own judge. You punish yourself and you reward yourself.
It is your own Antaratma, your own conscience which does this. You do it to your own self. No one from outside can hurt you or give you happiness.
Why should you give this much power to others that your spiritual progress is dependant on him forgiving you?

Sadhana/ spiritual practice is dependant on Siddhant/ fundamental concepts.
And Siddhant can come only from the Vedant.

Anyone who says things contrary to the Vedant cannot provide a foundation and cannot guide to Moksh.

What you do or what you feel or what you think is right/wrong is your own thing. It is from your own perspective.
Who you consider to be your Guru is your own decision.
What sadhana you do is again your own decision.

First step for householders is the daily pujas plus special pujas on festivals and auspicious days.

The Navavarna mantra is not a ‘first step’! What made you think so?
It is a part of Shri Vidya, an advanced phase. you do puja of the Shri chakra/meru with it.
Do not do this unless you are sure that you have the capacity to absorb its fire.

‘objective check’, there is only one. The mind gradually becomes silent, ie there are no questions and no doubts.

siddhis come naturally with regular spiritual practice. there is nothing special about them. but Siddhis are not something that you should actively chase, I have mentioned this several times. there is no one more foolish than the aspirant who gets fascinated by the Siddhis.
eg you practice singing daily for 30mins. when you start, you can reach only till taar saptak Re. but after 1yr you can reach till ati taar saptak Re.
similarly fr the siddhis, as you practice consistently.

‘Mastering’ the Mahavidyas! Where do you get these words from?

      • Reader August 9, 2022 / 10:33 pm

        Hi Madam

I am replying to an old question.
You had mentioned in one of the answers

“do whatever you want to, but if you want Moksh you have to come to the Vedanta and only Vedant.
but you cannot reach Vedant just like that.
one of the better routes to the Vedant is the Shri Vidya.
and to reach Shri Vidya you have to first prepare with the very many less intense Vidyas.”

So the sequence is intense vidya’s > shri vidya > vedanta> Moksha

what are these less intense vidya’s you mentioned. I thought you meant Mahavidyas by them

      • astrologerbydefault August 11, 2022 / 10:54 am

        Hi there
Mahavidya siddhi is ‘less intense’ than Shri Vidya.
but do not make the mistake of thinking that Mahavidya pujas are ‘less intense’ in the generic sense.
each one of them will take several lifetimes to Siddh.

Jyotish is also a Vidya, Sangeet is a Vidya. even these will require dedication over several lives.

Namaste Tejaswiniji, I’ve heard cats and dogs are related Rahu Ketu. Is it advisable to keep these pets at home? What effect does it have on the nodes then …does it make it stronger?

    Regards and thankyou

    • astrologerbydefault July 28, 2022 / 10:28 am

      Hi there
i do not advise keeping animals inside the house, it is cruel to the animal, cooping it indoors.
ideally pets should be kept in households which have a backyard. so that the animal can at least live in some sort of basic natural surroundings.

      • Simmar July 30, 2022 / 8:56 am

Namaste, I love pets/animals myself but i have a huge hygiene issue. So for that reason I don’t like to keep pets at home.

However, those who don’t have any such issue, surely love their pets with all their heart and soul. I’ve known them to be inhuman to humans but are very very gentle and caring towards animals. It amazes me – their psychology! They do everything possible to make the animals happy. Their pets rule the house! They’re treated as demigods! So surely it’s some good karma.

Nonetheless, does it have any significance for strengthening one’s ketu, which I’ve heard refers to dogs and rahu for cats.

      • astrologerbydefault July 30, 2022 / 1:50 pm

        Hi there
feeding stray dogs esp dogs who have patterns of multiple colors is a remedy for ketu as per lal kitab and it does work.
feeding stray dogs of any color, esp all black dogs will generate blessings from Shri Bhairav.

cats are able to absorb negative energy. they are in fact attracted to it.

pets which live in the house and are treated on par with the humans of the household are obviously there to collect their pending stuff. it is very much a karmic thing.

on the practical levels i do not advise anyone to keep a dog or cat inside the house as a remedy. it is not.
but if you have a house with a yard, then a dog can be useful as a protection, plus it will enjoy the space.

      • Viju July 31, 2022 / 1:29 pm

I have seen that cats and dogs have a way of finding homes/ humans (irrespective of indoor or outdoor). It could be a karmic thing or a past life connection. If you let go of your erroneous beliefs and try to develop an awareness about your pet or an animal, there is a lot you can learn from them. This might sound strange, but all you need is to be perceptive and observant. Yes, cats do absorb negative energies and some of them even give a healing if you both share a deep bond. They’re pretty psychic beings. Again, you will know what your pet is doing for you only if you stay aware. Otherwise you will think you are looking after it and it is just eating and sleeping and leading a good life.

Even if you don’t want to have a pet in your house, it is always a good deed to feed a hungry animal. Animals face a variety of sufferings although they have a pure heart and unconditional love and gratitude. The reason why some humans appear to love animals more than humans is because animals are capable of accepting you as you are and at the same time loving you unconditionally- something very rarely found in humans.

        Best regards

Namaste Tejaswiniji, thankyou so much for taking out time for answering our questions.

I have a question concerning the Navavaran Mantra. Can a non vegetarian or a social drinker do this mantra if one may take 10 years to complete 9 lakh recitations. I eat non veg mostly fish occasionally and drink once or so in a week socially. So can I start the anushthan of this sacred mantra? Thankyou and regards!

    • astrologerbydefault July 31, 2022 / 8:53 pm

      Hi there
ideally no. if the body is loaded with tamas then the energy of the mantra will cause problems. and this is the navavarna!

satvik food is necessary. but you can at max eat fish if non-veg food is necessary for some medical reasons or for ensuring a balanced diet.

this is not a beginner level mantra.
try it if you have been doing your daily pujas for several years,
or if you have been doing 108 repeats of your mantra twice a day for at least 3yrs
or doing Soham 108 times with the breath twice a day for at least 3yrs.
And you have some indication from the Devi that you are allowed to do it.

else the body will not be able to sustain the fire of the Navavarana.
it is a part of Shri yantra puja, it is definitely not for beginners.

if you are a complete beginner then see if you can stick to this very simple schedule for 3yrs.
      Surya arghya
      10min puja of household deities
      your mantra 108 times

      tulsi – deepak
      10min household deity
      108 repeat mantra

if you are travelling or in a class or in the office at this time.
take a 10min break to visualise all this in your mind and do your mantra at least 3 times. you can do this wherever you are, sitting at your desk or in your office or in your bus etc.

    Namaskaram Tejaswiniji

There is an almost immediate effect on dreams with the change in habits ( food, sleep etc) and a pause in the sadhana routine.

The dreams are more intense , almost like some web series, but of your current or past life incidents and people , and you get up tired. As opposed to more peaceful or joyful dreams ( of nature, generic, not specific to life events or people you know etc) when the habits are maintained.

I had a break in my routine for some months, noticed this.

    Just thought of sharing.

    Namaskar mam
How to evaluate a house when it’s lord is heavily afflicted but it receives aspects from Jupiter ,mercury, sun?

    • astrologerbydefault August 2, 2022 / 1:24 pm

      Hi there
      this depends on

      1. what kind of house
kendra or kona, or dusham, or upchay etc

      2. what kind of affliction
damage can be of several types
      conjunction with functional malefics
low power – check its strengths
      high Kashta phala
      low scores in Ashtakvarga
      in the gandant zone

      3. and if jupiter, mercury and sun are functional benefics or malefics for the chart.

eg if the lord of a kendra or kona or a functional benefic or yogakarak or asc lord himself is damaged but gets support from other functional benefics.
here he will be able to give somewhat favourable results but after an initial struggle or delays.

suppose it is cancer asc, mars in asc, ie owner of 5th 10th plus yogkarak and debilitated.
now if he is supported by aspects from benefics and moon/asc lord/owner of cancer, is placed in a strong house and the 5th house and 10th house is supported by presence of favourable planets then mars will be able to give positive effects.
a cycle of lows and highs might operate in life with respect to these houses and the entire personality will show the effect of the uncomfortable mars, temper etc.

a dushamsthan lord with another functional malefic and aspected by a functional benefic.
the problems of both the dusham will be reduced.

if this is your own chart then check how the humans associated with that house behave with you
      2nd – generic family
3rd – cousins or team mates
      4th – mother
      5th – children or lover
      6th – servants
      7th – spouse
      8 – in laws
9 – teachers at college or university
      10 – father or boss
      11 – friend circle

      • astrologerbydefault August 4, 2022 / 6:04 am

        Hi there
There is always some level of free will . This can be determined using the chart.
Strong asc sign/lord and birth moon. A very strong dharma trikon. And more planets in the ‘bright half’ of the chart indicate more possibilities fr exercising free will.

But going completely against the chart is not possible.

Sorry mam but I have another question
What if there is a bad conjunction like above I mentioned Saturn Mars Rahu in 12 Taurus but Mars is vargottam and in Pushkar navamsa? How to analyse these things?

      • astrologerbydefault August 6, 2022 / 2:35 pm

        Hi there

pushkar navamsha reduces the inauspicious results and promotes the auspicious results.
vargottam gives the planet the depth to perform its job in a way which gives you more satisfaction.,
and the 12th house planets need not be always bad. you can use them in a way which gives you beneficial results.

the European nations and USA on the slippery slope will help Africa but there is still a long time to go for them.
21 African nations are still colonies of France. in addition other European nations also have their colonial rule in several African nations. there are complicated financial instruments tying these African colonies to European nations. you will have to deep search to understand this sad reality. Africa is the richest continent but the African people are not allowed to use their own riches for supporting their own lives.

  48. Reader August 7, 2022 / 9:46 am

    Hi Madam,

Today morning we had organised Satyanarayan Pooja at home and i had checked on drikpanchang that at my place lagnesh Surya was in 1st house till 7 am. Accordingly i informed the Guruji to come by 6:30 AM. But he got delayed and we started pooja somewhere around 7:15 when Sun went to 12th house. I was reluctant to do pooja as it was not suitable muhurta so i argued a bit with the Brahmin, that he shouldn’t have delayed and all. Now, family members think that i shouldn’t have said anything to brahmin as he is equal to god as he is coming for any kind of pooja.
Anyway, we did the pooja but the person seemed little annoyed. And my family members said later that i shouldn’t have said argued with him. Now, we are also Brahmin by birth so i dont find this particular stereotyping logical, as the person doing the pooja is no better than rest, he just does pooja/jap for living that’s, his job.

So, i could/should have done/thought anything differently in this scenario or my thought process is flawed somewhere?

    • astrologerbydefault August 7, 2022 / 12:42 pm

      Hi there
if your Brahmin is a real one, then he will understand the reason why you argued with him.

in fact a genuine Brahmin has to appreciate the nature of time. they are required to do trikaal sandhya every single day of their lives! and this is not possible without first appreciating the power of time.

but like i have mentioned this earlier also, locating a genuine Brahmin is a herculean task.
Ideally such a Brahmin must not have eaten Tamasic foods ever, also keep Vrat ie eat the upvas food on the days of the puja, know by heart all the mantra in sequence and the associated actions. Not lose his temper or have negative intentions in his mind. plus restrictions on his personal life etc.
and obviously keep a Shika, Sutra and do his trikaal sandhya sincerely daily right from the day of his Yajnopavit sanskar.
so where can you get this sort of perfection!

a significant percentage of Brahmins today are more into fixing rates for their ‘services’ rather than doing real pujas for Dakshina as per the Dharma. real Brahmins are very rare.
but some puja is better than doing nothing at all.

Satyanarayan puja is a simple one and if you can read Sanskrit then you can perform it yourself without engaging a Brahmin to conduct it.

whatever level of Brahmin, it is his duty to perform the pujas for the Yajman. Brahmin and Yajman are both interdependent. basic courtesy on both sides is expected. he should conduct the pujas properly at the time decided and you should offer him all respect and dakshina.
if you (Yajman) are doing the puja it should first and foremost make you happy.
if you felt there is something amiss, then pointing it out is right on your part. but it can be pointed out in a courteous manner.
and he should have accepted it and ideally should have done some additional pujas or something to address it. generally if there is some defect in the muhurt, a small puja or something is done to make up for it. getting irritated or behaving badly while conducting a puja is an indication that the Brahmin puts personal ego before his duty.

    I had a question.
The Chinese routinely kill and eat snakes. Is it not such a wrong deed? Do they get affected by KaalSarp and other things in this lifetime or the other lifetimes? Is Dharma dependent on where you are born and the culture?

      Hi there
yes, they will individually face the effects, either in this life or the next ones.
and evaluate for yourself the spiritual quotient of that nation.
karmic fruits – either to enjoy or to endure – are inevitable

      • Hayls August 8, 2022 / 10:03 pm

I also had been thinking about a similar question for the past few days. Most people in the world bury bodies and do not cremate like hindus do- and they have been burying bodies like this for centuries.

When hindus dont do the funeral rites properly, we are told that this can lead to a pitr dosh or kaal sarp ( and I do believe this- as I have experienced this myself). But in these cases, we see difficulty having children or there are no male children and the family lines die out. Do the millions and millions of people who are burying bodies not have repercussions like this because they are following their own religion? We dont see family lines dying out in droves as one would expect if multiple generations have been burying bodies instead of cremating.

        Hi there
I think it is a blessing that 99% people cannot see the astral dimensions. We are living in a very ‘astrally filthy’ time/space at this point of time.

why do so many people suffer from ‘negative energy’ these days? and what exactly is this ‘negative energy’?
        ever thought about this?

Those whose physical bodies are buried after physical death, these specific souls cannot go onwards to Pitrulok and often remain stuck here causing several problems to their descendants and the overall population living in the surrounding area.

more significantly, the energy of these stuck souls is used by ‘higher level negative entities’ who prey on them.
now what exactly are these ‘negative entities’?

there are two sorts of effects, visible and abstract.
Reduction in the number of their descendants, their ill-health etc are the visible effects.
the abstract quality of life, emotional health, appreciation of the higher qualities /emotions/philosophy etc, overall lifestyle, spiritual development, desire for Moksh etc get degraded in the descendants.

The intensity of every problem can be reduced, there are ways. the physical problem can be addressed more easily.
and there are ways to ‘tie up’ the astral imbalance too.
but the problem with this strategy is that it turns into an astral ticking bomb which sooner or later explodes.
(there is one very vivid example of this sort from about 100yrs ago)

        Your Q –
There are primarily 3 religions who bury their dead bodies, ie preserve the physical shell.
As per their religious books, all three believe in resurrection.
They believe that the dead shell will be reanimated at a specific time in the future by their ‘angels’.
Why should a significant population believe that the dead body can be reanimated like this?

has anyone seen this happen, masses of dead bodies getting up again fully alive? No.
So where did this idea come from? it must have been very common at some point of time to influence the minds of so many people. Why did an entire group of people stop doing the compulsory 16th sanskar in this hope that all those who physically exit will be 100% reanimated in the same body?

There are only two Guru, Devguru Bruhaspati and Daityaguru Shukracharya. there is no third option.

Of these three religions, two are facing a drastic fall in birthrates.
Only one religion has an expanding birthrate. This is because of a very significant difference between this one and the other two.

The solution for every problem is mantra and daana.
So who does the maximum mantra and daana at this point of time?

See if you can logically derive the answer you are looking for.
i will not write more on this.

Thank you! This has answered my question 🙂

Do you mind sharing the astral tie up example from 100 years ago that you mentioned in your reply?

        Hi there
I think i had mentioned this in a past comment.
        Abuse of astral power

      • Reader August 9, 2022 / 10:12 pm

        Hi Madam,

excellent explanation once again, connecting the dots to to the 2x Guru’s.
        Just few queries

so how does it work out?

      • astrologerbydefault August 11, 2022 / 3:04 pm

        Hi there
I have deleted your comment but have given sufficient hints to work out your answers yourself.

Satya Yug history has described this happening in several situations. But not so often in Treta Dwapar and certainly not in Kali.

Only one religion is still devout.
The other two are losing devotees. So these two are trying to get new groups of people to subscribe into their thought process.

Followers of the religions are faithful to the thought process tht their books prescribe. It is what their books say and they follow it, on faith/Shraddha.

You can put your faith in anything you want to. That is, in fact, the first test of the real spiritual aspirant. So what do you put your faith in? If you follow a Deity you become one with it. If you follow a monster you become one with it.
Choice is as always, yours alone.

Those souls whose bodies are purposely denied anteysthi cannot leave this dimension. The souls cannot generate enough energy for the journey. For these purposely denied Anteyshti jivatmas they are stuck, no evolution.

(Exception is those who have died in the heat of battle, or those who die because their skulls have broken, eg shot in the head or in accidents or disasters etc. they can use this energy to leave our dimension.)

(When a jivatma leaves the body it has to first go from here to the Pitrulok rest, recover etc and only then it will be able to come back for another birth.)

And now fr these unfortunate souls, leaving this dimension of the living will require energy from a Guru, deity or Devi Ganga. Very very difficult to get.

There are infinite individual souls /jivatmas.
the fact that a few billion are stuck in the Martyalok does not matter at all.

Do you think that everyone who is born in Bharat has done so out of a desire for Moksh?

Bharat is a battlefield. The last one.

Signs of those who desire Moksh are given in the Vivek Chudamani. Read it.

Even if the soul of a higher level spiritual aspirant has accumulated punya, it has to wait for the correct time and the right parents to be born. This is also an extremely difficult thing to manage.

What is the definition of ‘Mantra’
        मननात् त्रायते इति मंत्रः
        What does मननात् mean?
        And त्रायते ?

Why do I emphasise on ‘regular’ spiritual practice?
        Daily, routine, regular, consistently.. why?
Why do I insist on Asan or at least sitting before the altar/puja ghar?
Why the count of 3, 27, 54 or the best 108 times?
Why do I suggest to refrain from tamasic food?

sthan, samay, sankhya, samagri and samyama are essential. someone had mentioned these 5 in an earlier comment. Add two more, Shraddha and Sankalp.

Sanskrit mantra have the most power fr several reasons, but most importantly coz,
A Drashta, a Rishi has ‘seen’ the mantra.
And the disciple has been given that mantra with a specific intention by his ‘Guru’.
If your Guru tells you that if you eat one spoon curd first thing in the morning you will achieve Moksh, then yes, if you do this action with all faith in the Guru and the action you will achieve Moksh, so this is a ‘Mantra’ too.

Affirmations in other languages, like the Reiki affirmations are also a sort of Mantra.

Daityaguru Shukracharya has designed mantras and given them to his Shishya. He is the brightest and the most intelligent.
He knows the minds of his disciples and has customised things for them.
But he is also a Guru, so despite whatever the disciples ask for- material stuff etc, it is his responsibility to slowly move them towards Moksh.
So he ensures that they all eventually get killed by the Bhagwan Vishnu avtars.
but this is also a rare event.

Have you seen the Shiv Sutrani sequence? Think on it in this context.

Followers of Shunyatva vaad follow an illogical life philosophy.
Adi Shankaracharya had taken on the responsibility of pointing out the fallacies in this thought process. it is as simple as “Poorna can be Shunya but Shunya cannot be Poorna”
But if some people still want to follow it, it is their choice and the subsequent repercussions. Every action has its karmic fallout which you are required to either endure or enjoy in the future.

        Dearest Tejaswiniji,

No words are enough to thank you for all that you share in your blog and in your replies🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻 Am eternally grateful to the Guru Tattva who is guiding us through this treasure of a blog. I read that query about burials being widely practiced and had to share this.

I wish to share an incident my dad had told me decades ago which happened to a colleague-friend of his. This colleague friend used to live in Marine Drive then. Once he was taking a midnight stroll by Marine Drive. A ‘man’ accosted my dad’s friend and introduced himself – he gave his name and background – where he had lived (he was a Parsi), etc. and said that he had died (he gave the date of his death & other details); he also said he was stuck in this world and had no peace. He requested my dad’s friend to do his last rites as per Hindu rituals. My dad’s friend was highly shocked, later he did some checking and found out that a man with that name had indeed lived in the address he had said and had died there. He could confirm that all the details given by this ghost were true. He then went to a priest and got the rituals done for this ghost.

My mom says that burial sites like cemeteries are haunted and in her native place there are stories of people walking by such places late at night or even auto rickshaw drivers having some experiences with ghosts. Having had few experiences with spirits, I am highly uncomfortable going near kabrastans and cemeteries, even hospitals have spirits (my experience). I always take protection if I cannot avoid these places. In my college days some months after I became a Reiki channel, I had to visit a restaurant-cum-bar in a respectable area because my companion was having a headache and desperately wanted her evening tea. The moment I entered this hotel, I felt uncomfortable and wanted to go out. Unfortunately there was no other hotel nearby and my companion insisted on having tea here. It was a good hotel located in a slightly posh area. I left as soon as I could without having even a glass of water. But the ghost of a woman from this hotel had latched onto me and appeared in my dream that very night. I used to be very scared of ghosts then and in my dream too I was scared. However this ghost told me her story – she had died an alcoholic and had had an unhappy family life. I gave her a reiki healing which transformed her (in my dream) and she never bothered me again. Many years later I learnt that alcoholics, after death, haunt bars and try to get their energy fix from the people consuming alcohol/ liquor in such places. People who lose their consciousness after drinking alcohol or taking drugs are most vulnerable to spirit possessions. Perhaps, that is why quitting alcohol and drugs is so difficult, the spirits possessing such people keep goading them and do not allow them to quit. Drinking alcohol is quite acceptable these days but just a generation or two ago, it was looked down upon in Bharat. My teetotaler dad had a very big friend-circle but barely 2% of his friends drank alcohol. How much our society has changed in Bharat! I don’t mean to sound judgemental but people these days get into things without knowing the dangers; but people who lead a satvik life are somehow protected.

Our old traditions are not superstition, there is a science behind our rituals which we may not know. In our home and family we always have a bath after we visit the home of a deceased person to pay our respects to the dead body. Even the clothes we wore there are washed immediately. I have always had a different set of clothes for outdoors and indoors -something my parents taught me as a child. Ever since I became sensitive to energies I can appreciate this habit a lot better. Isn’t it strange that it took Corona virus for us to realize that we can carry unhealthy energies from the outside, home.

My apologies for this long rambling, but I could not stop myself!

        Lots of love and gratitude

        Namaste Tejaswini ji,

I had read your wonderful post on spirits and hauntings. Plus read your responses to various queries on this subject. From what I realized in my college days I am a bit vulnerable to spirits and evil eye. The positive side of this was that I searched for and found ways to protect myself in my late 20s. The techniques I used were similar to what you have written in your posts. After reading your blog and getting interested in vedic astrology and then studying the same, I checked my birthchart and found combinations that revealed that I could have experiences with spirits.

I think spirits can also affect people who are not sensitive to them. Some years back I read (by coincidence) about the experiences of some serial murderers, some schizophrenics, some people who attempted or died by suicide, people having split-personalities – I deduced that (without generalizing) some of these people were possessed by spirits who were making them behave the way they did. Their birth charts might no doubt reveal the relevant planetary afflictions/ kroor graha influences and these people are not even aware of this problem! This aspect is not even factored in therapy, although it could be the root cause! You are right, the negativity generated by such spirits are not to be ignored!

        Lots of love and gratitude

        Pranaam Madam,
Gratitude as always for this precious reply and knowledge. Could you kindly guide us to the correct version of Viveka Chudamani with the correct translator author wherein the translation is accurate? Hindi or Marathi or English? Your guidance would be greatly valuable to us.

Sincere gratitude, best regards and prayers as always,

        Hi there
Swami Madhavananda’s english translation is good. it should be there on archive if you want to go thru it.
but if you can afford buy a paper book.

I have a question related to this topic. Aren’t Swamijis buried rather than cremated per Hindu tradition? Is that a problem? Thank you for answering this.

    • astrologerbydefault August 9, 2022 / 10:11 pm

      Hi there

Only Atma Jnyani ie those who have realised Moksh are given a Samadhi like this. And fr a very typical reason.
It is a warning fr fake ‘godmen’ who pretend to b Gurus and cheat their disciples.
If anyone claims to have attained Moksh, he will b given a samadhi. ie the Anteyshthi will not b performed.
Fr the genuine Guru it does not matter either way as he has realised The Self.
Fr the fake ones – their souls/ jivatma will b stuck here with all the associated danger and with no hope fr rebirth. It is the ultimate punishment.

      • Nagarathna August 9, 2022 / 10:24 pm

Thank you. Just one more question regarding this matter. What if you belong to a Hindu community that has always buried their dead? Is there any remedies you can do now to get rid of the negative astral energy created?

      • astrologerbydefault August 11, 2022 / 11:01 am

        Hi there
For all Hindus, the Garud Puran is the only reference for physical death and post-physical death activities.

You can do the regular Pitru tarpan and the final tarpan at Brahmakapal, Badrinath if possible.

If the physical body is not available for performing Anteyshti then a ‘doll’ is made from Darbha grass and the entire Anteyshti Sankar is performed over this. Recent example was the politician Jayalalitaa, her body was not given to the rightful heir, ie it was the responsibility of her brother as she was unmarried. However he performed his duty with this option.
