Effects of Mars and Rahu conjunction

Mars is said to be like Ketu and Rahu is said to like Saturn. However do remember that Rahu and Ketu are subjective in nature, they are astral forces. Mars and Saturn are objective in nature, they give tangible physical ‘real’ results. These are cruel forces, kroor graha who cause turbulence and sorrow in life.

The keywords for Mars are birth, death, vitality, challenges, exploration, secrets, domination, pioneering spirit, competitiveness, winning, blood and the circulatory system, pran and the Nadi system etc. He is an explosion of raw power, always on the move.

And Rahu is the desire to have it all. To gain every sort of experience, to reach and then over-reach, to achieve in every way possible, amoral by nature. He wants satisfaction but by his very nature he is never ever satisfied.

Rahu and Mars together have the potential to become very intense. Rahu will enhance Mars’s objective results on the subjective plane too, so you will feel very deeply when you act as per Mar’s significations in your life. This can get so intense that all positive results of Mars are destroyed by the endless desire of Rahu. And they are enemies.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

If you have Mars-Rahu together in your birth chart then you need to analyse it step-wise like this-

The sign in which this is happening and its nature is critical. If Mars is comfortable in this sign, he can constructively use Rahu’s power. Mars is exalted in Capricorn, debilitated in Cancer, his own signs are Aries (also mooltrikon) and Scorpio. Plus he functions well in the other two fiery signs, Leo and Sagittarius. Rahu is generally malefic for every ascendant sign but rarely he can function as a Yogkarak, so check this aspect before predicting severe results and scaring yourself.

Check if the Mars is retrograde, combust or debilitated which can change the way his power moves. I have observed that these combinations turn the Mars energies inwards. You might cause damage to yourself rather than others with this sort of Mars, so being careful is advisable. You need to find an outlet for your Mars Rahu energies else you suffocate inside.

Also check Mars’s shad-bala, vimshopak-bala, avastha, ashtakvarga, nakshatra etc as per your level of study. The more information you have on your Mars the more you will be aware of Rahu’s influence on him and thus you. If they are less than 15deg apart then the effect will be even more intense. If they are in the same Nakshatra or in the same Nakshatra pad (this means in the same Navamsha), then the effect will be obviously felt more.

Next is the house in which this is happening. Generally if this occurs in the 3rd, 6th, 10th 11th houses and has some beneficial influences then the combination can generate revolutionary leaders of the positive sort. You will be able to use this energy to fight injustices, right wrongs, help the downtrodden etc.

Analyse the houses owned by Mars, ie where do Aries and Scorpio lie in your chart. Both the house controlled by Mars in your chart will also show the effect of Rahu. His typical over reach, habit of creating illusions, playing politics, cheating, etc will also influence these two houses.

You should also check the houses which are aspected by Mars, he has the regular 7th aspect and the additional 4th 8th aspects which in my opinion can be more intense. Then Ketu is always opposite Rahu, so in this Mars-Rahu conjunction, Mars will be fully aspecting Ketu. This aspect generally intensifies the fiery energies in the house/ sign of Ketu as it aggravates his fiery nature. If the rest of the chart is unable to absorb or regulate this energy then it can cause immense damage to this house.

The conjoint Rahu will hold back Mars’s maturity period. So you will remain unaware of Mars’s power and potential for a significant part of your life. You will become aware of them both together as you cross your mid 40s and their full effect will be evident by the age of 48yrs.

In the Vimshottari Dasha system, Mars Mahadasha is followed by Rahu Mahadasha so this is a continuous experience of 25yrs, which is a very significant time frame. So if your Rahu Mars are in a progressive house/sign and are capable of giving positive results then you can have an extraordinary 25yr span in your lifetime, else this period can be quite turbulent.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

A few typical results of this combination will be as follows, however they will vary in intensity as per individual chart combinations. So do tailor them to your personal chart keeping in mind the above listed points.

This combination grants you an hyper alertness about the things connected with Mars. And your aggression is generally directionless, ie you are generically aggressive towards everyone. You may not be aware of this but everyone is a little bit scared of you.

There is a tendency towards self-harm. But depending on the other combinations in your chart, you might or not act on these thoughts. But you think about violence, dangerous situations etc. You might visualise yourself doing risky acts or wish to do so. You are not afraid of physical injury and are willing to get yourself hurt in the process.

There is an elevated sense of ego as you always feel very powerful. You think that you can get over any situation by a display of sheer power, intimidation, domination and aggression. You are willing to offer violence as a solution to every problem in life. However this is not the pure Mars, it is linked to the sneakinesses of Rahu. So you might show that you are brave strong etc but there is a hollowness in your these claims. Given a chance you might to choose underhanded tricks rather than fair competition to achieve your aims.

And you can be whipped into a fighting frenzy. So be very clear about the life philosophy that you follow. You can be goaded into religious or racist intolerance which can easily turn violent. And you can further inspire others into similar violence, as you have significant leadership qualities. This sort of combination can thus lead to terrorist, anti-social, activities. Depending on the rest of the chart you can even become some sort of a revolutionary leader of the negative sort.

On the health front, there are possibilities of blood related issues. Rash behaviour can lead to accidents, injuries, surgeries or even physical death. There is a tendency to get into addictions, drinking, gambling, womanising, etc negative habits.

In the family, you most likely are the oldest among your siblings. In case you are a woman, relationships will be affected. Multiple serious relationships, two or more marriages, divorce, widowhood, extra-marital affairs, serious love affairs which do not culminate into marriage, marriages with strangers/foreigners etc are possible. These situations can be averted or their intensity be reduced if the 7th lord and Jupiter are strong in your chart.

If you have this combination in your birth chart, then you should learn techniques to help you control your thoughts. Yogasan, Pranayam, Dhyan, Mantra pujas, etc are a good option as here both Rahu and Mars will get an outlet to express their physical and astral energies. Going to the gym or engaging in only physical activity is just Mars, it does not give control over the astral Rahu. Remember that it is very easy to provoke you into violence, so best learn to count to 10 before exploding into action.

Depending on which house this combination occurs, you can try to invest in stocks of companies manufacturing arms or work in such an environment or work in R&D to develop weapons or work in the police or the army or in turbulent situations where you can release this energy in a productive and positive manner. Explosives, petroleum, fire etc related jobs where you work with destructive energies can suit you. You can also write motivational articles, engage in rigorous research, occult, invent new stuff etc. You need a continual stimulation of new horizons to explore and you are willing to do anything for this. You are also quite intelligent, opportunistic have a very strong will and are willing to take risks. This Mars and Rahu then can shape an extraordinary individual if the rest of the chart permits it.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

On the transit front, the Rahu Mars conjunction occurs once every about 1.5yrs or so and it is now due from 27th Jun to 10th Aug 2022 in Aries. This time can give extreme results as Saturn will be aspecting them with his 3rd aspect from 27th Jun to 12th July. And then from 12th Jul onwards he will start aspecting Ketu!

World events will become more destructive in nature as Rahu in Aries will suck Mars into his web of deception. The Ukraine-Russia war will intensify. Europe and USA will suffer the most. Civil movements, several of them armed, will erupt all over the world for different reasons. Terrorist activity, gunmen, bomb blasts, destruction of public property, open civil riots etc fueled mainly by intolerant thought processes including religion, corruption, political dramas, etc will occur. Police and the military will be forced to act at great personal risks. The courts will be aggressive and try to control the armies in some way, but this will lead to even more confusion for the elected governments. Deaths of a few aged or prominent leaders is expected. Industrial accidents are possible.

Bharat too will see these same patterns of disruption as above, we are already seeing it in the newspapers daily. In addition the Indian monsoon has arrived, but rain itself is going to behave like a weapon, so cyclones and torrential rains will occur in some places and drought like situations in other areas of our nation.

This Mars Rahu combination is going to give negative results for all the birth Moon signs. All of us will suffer unexplained loneliness, emotional upsets, aggression, rage issues, body pain, mental stress, pressure at work and home, controversies, etc. The best thing to do is to keep a low profile, avoid arguments, avoid risky behaviour, budget and take due precautions for health.

Thank you very much for the yet again amazing post! I’m born with ascendent Mars in Aries. In 2020 I had very big success March-April and then mid May everything collapsed. Sorry to ask you again but if you may look into my horoscope I’ll be ever grateful. In the jungle of Bengal 12 years ago I had my horoscope made by a very prominent pandit but he passed away and I am in Europe trying to understand what’s been happening for the past 2.5 years.

      Hi there
I can write fluently in Marathi, Hindi and Sanskrit.

The unfortunate state of affairs in our Bharat is that this foreign English has more reach with our fellow Bharatiya than any of our own Bharatiya bhasha.
And English simply does not have the words needed to explain our concepts. It is a very limited and limiting language.

I do appreciate your feelings and wish that i could do as you suggest. This is possibly the most unexpectedly nice suggestion i have received till date.

One must feel attachment and love fr one’s mother tongue, which you obviously do.
If everyone on our Bharat felt this level of attachment fr our actual mother tongue ie Devbhasha Samskrutam, our nation would be able rapidly exit from of this mess we find ourselves in.
This is why I keep repeating that everyone has to take up one Mantra as a daily practice and try to learn Devbhasha.
If I had any option on this, I would prefer to write in Sanskrit more than anything else.

But the need of the hour is that maximum people read about Jyotish and Dharma. And unfortunately the language then gets limited to English.
I have however put the Google translate widget on my blog. (I know that it is not very good but something is better than nothing)

My Dad books and vlogs are in all Marathi… till now. But recently, coz this need to reach max people and requests from his students, he has done some vlogs in Hindi and now written his first book in Hindi. Ultimately reach is more important.

The overarching need of this present time is that max people should have access to authentic information about Dharma. fr this purpose, if i have to use English i am ok with it.
But I really hope, wish and pray that there comes a time when I will write in Sanskrit and that its reach will be national and also global.

But..I read it in many other websites on astrology.

And I remember..I did read it in some random book on astrology written by a telugu astrologer..

    Isn’t it correct info..?
It says..In Navamsa chart 12th house counted from sign in which atmakaraka placed called as jivan muktamsha..
And planets in that house indicates Ishta devata of that Jiva for both material and spiritual benefits.
If no planets exists ruling planet of that particular sign indicates ishta devata..

I found ishta devata calculator also in astrosage app..

      Hi there
Shri sukta or any other mantra where you feel the love of the Eternal Mother Devi Jagadamba. once you feel this basic emotion in your life, the love of your Mother for you, everything else will fall into place.
you can also sing bhajans in your mother tongue, or even movie songs will do the job.
singing helps clear out a lot of negative stuff in the body.
reciting mantra/sukta with the proper chhand is an elevated form of singing.
Sangeet ie Gandharva vidya, easiest option to get the energies flowing.

    Hi Madam,

)When one tries to use tarot/astrology to get a read, then one’s punya/accumulated merits is depleted by equivalent amount or both things are not related?
If i was to learn tarot just for the sake of learning it and not do readings for people, just for me, that too not frequently then does it justifiy learning tarot?

    2) i was trying to change the black thread today as it being no moon+Tuesday+ mars transit. I had to bath twice because of some trivial reason and surprisingly enough while tying the 7 knots, the 2nd knot got knotted at the same place as of first knot. It created dilemma as if i untie it then the thread has to be discarded and if i continue, it will be 6 knots only in total. Overall, what i mean is i got obstacles in performing this activity. I bought another thread and completed it anyway. Does it imply anything?

    3)
The kinnar mentioned in old texts are same as those encountered in Indian trains? And blessings/curse by them are potent?

    Thanks

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there
      1. If you are a client then your 9th house will power the reading. It will not deplete that house, the reading will in fact add to its energies. You are going to a Daivednya, ie you are requesting your Poorva-punya, Ancestors, Kuldevata etc to show you the right way through the Daivednya. It is something very deep. Genuine clients are rare these days.

The 5th house of the person doing the reading will power the reading from his side. 5th house is mantra shakti. So if the Jyotishi feels that he is doing the reading, ie brings his personal ego into the reading then his mantra shakti will get used up. Other option for him is to request his Ishta devata to do the reading for him, in this case he does not feel the negative effects. Nevertheless, all genuine Jyotishis will always perform rigorous personal sadhana.

How can I tell you if you should learn tarot? Or justify your learning tarot? This is for you to decide.
And what you decide to do, does not matter to me in the least.

      Personally I use Jyotish.
But I also use the Runes, Ramal Shastra and its modern mutant iChing, the Thoth tarot exclusively, (and one oracle deck which I will not name.), cartomancy is good for simple no-brainer Q, pendulums, read auras. In fact once you learn one Vidya deeply, you can read from anything. It is all the same.

      2. Yes, it implies that the negativity was so strong that it tried to stop you from doing this activity.

      3. Certainly Not!
This is what happens when we forget our mother tongue and make no attempt to re-learn it. Bhasha is the soul of a human being. We are all living very incomplete lives as we are not the least bit connected with our soul, our Bhasha.
Everyone reading this blog must give 10mins daily to learn Sanskrit.
      https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2020/05/29/learn-devbhasha-samskrutam-aka-sanskrit/
At this rate, I think I will make it a condition that I will answer questions only when the person asking the Q types out at least one small sentence in Sanskrit with his Q.

षण्ड means an eunuch. ie a person who does not have a clearly defined male or female sex in the biological sense.

Kinnar, Yaksh, Gandharva, Naag etc are beings who have a different composition of their bodies, ie different proportions of the pancha mahabhoot. They live in the Himalay. The Himalay is a very mysterious place with the dimensions interacting in very typical ways.
      https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2018/10/01/himalaya/
Kinnars live especially around the Kinaur region of HP, several temples here have been constructed by them.
There are places in this Himalay where they reside and sensible human beings should not venture into these areas.

        Hi madam,

Thanks for such a detailed reply.
        I still have few queries
        1) you mentioned that for a client going for tarot/astrology reading, 9th house gets activated, which is a good thing, while for a person doing reading, 5th house may get used up. But, you also had said that one should not read charts of alive persons, it affects the energies of the chart, and causes disturbances in that person’s life. I am not able to relate both of these things. Can you please elaborate.
        2) I had read about Mr Crowley on Wikipedia, and formed opinion about him, but then I read your detailed post on him, regarding going beyond geometry, and realised that it’s not correct to judge. So, my question is does one need to revere him to be able to learn taort, because Thoth tarot belong to him.
        2) regarding the black thread,i had guessed the same, that negativity was trying to stop me from changing it. But then, does it mean my earlier thread had become powerless? Because i used it for only 2 months or so, it was not that old. Also, how can we know if the thread we are using needs replacement before general timeline you have given (3-6months). Any specific indications regarding the same, like changes in
        our thought/behaviour?

        Thanks

        Hi there
i do not like it when i am quoted out of context.
Read those posts again and re-think on what i have written.

        1. i said that i do not like to use charts of living persons as example charts in my blog.
never said that one should not read charts of living persons.

a basic level of intelligence and understanding is expected if you want to learn Jyotish

        2. Thoth does not ‘belong’ to Crowley. he only channeled the information.
i have written it several times that the cards are conscious entities. they do not ‘belong’ to anyone.

But yes, my specific deck belongs to me and only me. I have tuned it to my energy and it responds to my intentions. I use it. i do not like it if my clients touch my cards.

        3. The thread loses its power, depending on the level/frequency of attacks on you.
do your mantra sadhana, increase your own power.

If you really seriously want to learn any Vidya then first your Siddhant /basic premise/theory/ fundamental concepts should be clear.
And Siddhant can come only from the Vedant.
So the basic book for all serious sadhaks is without a doubt Vivek Chudamani.
And you will have to find a Guru. Or once you have grasped the enormity of the task you have decided to undertake and programmed your mind with this book, and your intention is strong then possibly a Guru might appear.

    Hello Mam,

I have a doubt here. While Mars Ketu is better than Mars Rahu combination in any house (many ways), my personal chart gives different signals every time I read it.

Since you are aware of everything blending – tithi based predictions, panchang at large speaking volumes, degrees etc can I please ask you to resolve this for me in a general way

Is it true that since I am born on a tuesday around perfect noon, shukla saptami in the mercury dasha and hora of mars

    1. Mars being the lowest degree planet at 1 has lot of karma from the past that has to be endured compared to the highest degree?

Like expect nothing and just give emotionally to the karakas – husband, brother of the spouse or my younger brother since it sits in 9th house vargottama rashi and house in all charts.

Will all of these karakas or people in my life need to be served or given or the magical/ strange degrees (29/30/0/1) will play a role here as a female. Even my venus is at 1 degree (marriage karaka) and jupiter (husband, kids) is retro (afflicted)

    2. In shadbala and ishta phala, strengthwise the planet is very strong. So did I do bad karma in the past hence lot of endurance, giving needed? Since 9th house is also part of dharma trikon and my 5th lord is retro being the guru jupiter

My family does not know of kuldevta mam. We know kshetra because we are jats and have land and farming business. Since long back our entire village became arya samaji, in a way its all lost. Can jupiter retro be a significant reflection of this or as an individual, I did something bad/wrong?

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there
I have never said that Mars-Ketu is a better combination than Mars-Rahu. Both are equally fiery.

I do not understand your Q. However a general reply.

Everyone has to endure a lot of karma from the past to the highest degree.

Fr emotional drain, check the Moon. Esp Saturn’s effect if any on him.

      Service/suffering is 6th house.

And if you are doing this, just giving without getting emotional support in return then I suggest you sit down with your loved ones and talk to them. Try to make them understand that their this behaviour is hurtful and that you want to be loved in a way that makes sense to you.

Retrograde planets are not ‘afflicted’. Just that their energies move in a different way.
I don’t think I have used ‘afflicted’ for retrograde planets.

I have written a few posts on Jupiter retrograde. Do read them. I see no ‘bad’ in the positions. Each one is a opportunity if you realise its unique attributes.

Retro Jupiter can indicate off-beat life philosophies.

But if you want to worship a devata then the
      1. Bhagwan Ganapati – the Vighnaharta is literally the one who takes away all negatives.
      2. Devi Laxmi and Bhagwan Vishnu – love and prosperity in the family, increase in Satva gun
      3. Shri Bal-Gopal – this form of the baby Shri Krishna is especially worshipped for ensuring health of the children in the family.
      4. Devi Annapurna – very soothing form of Devi Parvati, ensures prosperity
      5. The Shivalingam – the purest energy ever. The ‘mark of the most auspicious’

Choose whatever form which makes you happy on the inside.
In case you choose to buy a moorti, it should be of silver and not more than 2inch in height.
It is good to have a small mandir in the home, it brings auspiciousness and is in fact the soul of the home.
Think of a daily puja routine, it can even be a short 5min sequence, lighting a deepak/ incense stick, putting kumkum, flowers etc, and singing a small Arti.

And try come out of this guilty feeling. Guilt is the worst emotion it drains, drains and just drains the mind.
You are your own judge, jury and prison,
      Stop feeling this negative emotion.
If you do not know what to do about it then try this. Think of your most loved one, your adored deity, the nature, anyone /thing /book/ Arya samaj teacher etc which inspires Shraddha in you and say that you are generally sorry for everything, known unknown mistakes etc. Say this out aloud, cry if you want to, take a good 15mins over this. But do this only once, let it go completely. And then leave this guilt right there at that deity’s feet. Let him/her/it handle it now. Everyone and everything is forgiven once. Stop feeling so guilty for no reason.
We humans are called ‘bhoot’ coz we live in the past ‘bhootkaal’. this is our biggest mistake.
So try to live in the present moment.

        Hi there
moorti in home puja ghar should be max the size of your thumb.
        larger moortis are for temples

Mam, please write more about nakshatra or other predictive systems of astrology if possible. I love reading your blogs so much that I might have read almost every article thrice by now.

    Keep writing 🙂

Should weightage be given to bhav chalit chart placement, too? I ask because acc. to bhav chalit my placements change to Moon+Mars+Ketu in 6th (exalted Moon)! Otherwise also challenging enough with Moon+Mars and Shani+Ketu!

    Thank you.

      Hi there
I wrote about how to analyse it in this post.

      https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2020/10/08/systems-houses-signs-the-math/

Understand the concept of House v/s Sign.

A planet is not a sharp point, but a force spread the entire zodiac. Each planet influences every degree of the entire zodiac in some way or the other. Thts why we hav so many methods.

    Hello ma’am,

    1) Does rahu in 5th needs any shanti puja?

    2) In many of your replies you have talk about history and various cultures. Can you please recommend some books?
