A quick post.

We will be experiencing the first eclipse of this year on 30th April 2022. It will be visible only in some parts of South America, Antarctica, the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. The effect of the eclipse is generally limited to areas where it is visible. For the rest of the world it has negligible effects. But this time it will be affecting the oceans so will have significant effect on the weather patterns generated from here. Also considering the current precarious situation of the world, analysing the eclipse will be helpful. The eclipse duration is for about 4hrs so its effects will fade after about 4yrs.

  • First location to see the partial eclipse start – 30 Apr, 18:45 UTC
  • Maximum Eclipse – 30 Apr, 20:41
  • Last location to see the partial eclipse end – 30 Apr, 22:37 UTC
  • (This map is from timeanddate.com)

Let’s look at the chart drawn for the maximum eclipse point time. There are some interesting combinations here which should be analysed. I am just outlining the basic theme, pointing out the combinations, students of Jyotish can fill in the details with their own analysis.

AA44EE69-0777-464E-B658-F9A8DAE976AF

Primarily the eclipse is being caused by Rahu in Aries. He is in the Krutika nakshatra, a fiery lunar mansion ruled by the deity Agni and linked to the Sun. It is a solar eclipse so is obviously it is occurring during an Amavasya. Both Sun and Moon are in Bharani nakshatra. These three graha are strongly influenced by Saturn via his 3rd aspect. The additional aspects of the planets, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are more effective than their regular 7th aspect. Saturn aspecting the Sun and the Moon is a severe constriction on everyone of us. But far more dangerous is Rahu aspected by Saturn, this is called Shapit dosh (post here) and has the capacity to cause pain, struggle and sorrow on both the objective and subjective levels.

Mercury in Taurus is not involved in the eclipse energy as such, but he has broken the hemming of the Kaal sarpa. This energy was active intermittently since Dec 2021 and it getting broken is a positive.

Ketu in Libra – post on the Rahu Ketu transit into Aries Libra here.

Saturn and Mars in Aquarius – Saturn has just entered Aquarius on 29th and is now in a planetary war with Mars. Obviously Saturn has lost the Graha yuddha at the moment and will be required to follow Mars in most matters. He is even more uncomfortable as Aquarius is his own sign and he is being constrained by Mars from acting as he wishes. Saturn with Mars is a very dangerous combination capable of spoiling each others results and the significations of the house they occupy (post here). And he is aspecting Rahu. As per our texts and what has been seen in the past, whenever Saturn, Mars and Rahu get together in some way or the other, there is a heavy loss of human life all over.

Venus and Jupiter are in Pisces and they are also engaged in a fierce graha yuddha because they are on the same degree! But Jupiter is very slightly ahead so has won for the moment. Both are Gurus but engage in a philosophical sort of enmity so both so close together are extremely uncomfortable. Added to the fact that Pisces belongs to Jupiter and it is the sign of exaltation for Venus. Both are here, want to relax, get expansive, at home etc but are constrained by the other’s presence. So both are not going to give very happy results at this time. Venus and Jupiter otherwise also when together give subtly traumatic results (post here). The Devguru and the Daityaguru are the two benevolent planets who are ready to help us even in the direst of circumstances, but here they are both caught in a paap-kartari yog with double strength natural malefics hemming them in.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

Eclipses act as trigger points as the subjective forces of Rahu and Ketu obscure the internal divinity Sun or the nourishing divinity Moon. This event releases unbalanced karma on significant levels. After an eclipse some of us will experience unexpected losses and some get some unexpected gains depending on the individual charts.

As a result of this partial solar eclipse, we can expect misdirected fiery energy at all levels. The military, police and other enforcement agencies will be ruthless and relentless about their objectives. Invasions which are already underway will intensify. Invasions which were being planned will be put into motion. Diplomacy, rest, socialising, friendship etc will be on the backseat. Civil unrest, violence and terrorist activity will see an increase. These will be put down equally firmly. Tempers will be high and anger will be misdirected.

There will be changes in the weather patterns. It will get windy now so expect cyclones in coastal areas, these will bring rain, flooding and possible destruction. And the heavy winds inside the land masses will be hot and dry, this may lead to fires and heat related accidents. Volcanic activity or earthquakes are also possible. Hills will see storms and rains which may cause floods in the downstream or plains.

Global economy will remain shaky. We are in a transition period now, the current system is changing and dramatically so, Saturn in Aquarius is ensuring this. It will take a decade or so to settle, meanwhile, be ready for pain as such transitions are never easy. This eclipse will be a trigger for some smaller nations to experience severe issues and seek help from others, this can lead to their losing their economic sovereignty. And the Ukraine Russia war is not going to stop so soon, it will continue and lead to economic instability in Europe and USA. Russia will remain in a better shape.

On the health front, COVID 19 is on the wane, however there will be increase in cases in the next few months. People will generally fall ill but recover with regular medicines. This will be serious only for those who have not taken adequate steps for improving their immunity or those who remain careless about their health. Those who have a combination of Rahu, Mars and Saturn in their birth charts or are near their allotted longevity should avoid taking unnecessary risks with their lives. Those who are in Mahadasha or Antardashas of any of these three graha should also exercise due caution.

Some will experience an intense desire to get rid of all bindings, naturally there will be physical deaths too. Overall the combinations point to cruelty and cold bloodedness. On the personal level, be careful while driving and avoid risky endeavours as minor to major injuries are possible.

Not all nations will be affected by this eclipse. Only those who will experience the eclipse and the people living there will see the full effects of the eclipse. But because the energies are so severe, every nation will feel the effects to some extent. Every nation has a ‘birth chart’, ie the chart drawn at the time/date linked to some significant event considered to be the formation of the nation and the place will be the national capital. So those nations who have Aries or Libra as ascendants will see some disruptive activity triggered by this eclipse. Also for all nations whichever house Aquarius falls in will see dangerous developments during this time.

For our Bharat, we will see some extreme weather and natural disasters but more troubling will be the secret enemies within who will cause problems. Our nation has Taurus ascendant and Moon in Cancer. Saturn entering the 8th from Cancer, ie ashtam Shani and this eclipse trigger within a day of each other can bring hidden enemies to the forefront. We all follow the news and the present unfolding events, so it should not come as a surprise if internal unrest, riots and political upheavals increase in certain states. Our borders might see some action. COVID 19 will be seen again in some states but mostly people should recover. I am counting on Saturn as yogkarak for Taurus ascendant to bring some positivity after the initial turbulence.

If you live in a location where this eclipse is visible then you can make use of the energies to give a boost to your spiritual practice. It is advisable to perform some sadhana, ie Dhyan, or read some spiritual book, eg Bhagwat Gita, Upanishads etc or recite a mantra of your choice, eg Mahamrutyunjai mantra during the duration of the eclipse.

As always, the energy remedy for every problem in life on the energy front, is either Mantra or Daan. You reinforce your energy by doing Mantra or give away the unbalanced energy by doing Daan.

I have written several posts on eclipses and how to analyse their effects in birth and transit charts. (refer the index page for more posts).

Thank you for this brilliant article..👌🏻👌🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I have a doubt mam, actually i don’t know if thinking in this way is right or wrong but just wanna ask you hope you will correct me..🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

On 30 April Saturn will be less than 1° in kumbha rashi and here tripada drushti means if I’m not wrong 45° to 75° right mam ?? Tripada drushti means at 60° and + or – 15° he can aspect right mam ?? If I’m wrong kindly forgive me 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Here my doubt is if my above points are correct Sun and Rahu can not be seen by Saturn 3rd aspect as sun is in 16° and Rahu is in 29° Aries so Saturn influence might be negligible on Sun and Rahu but it can surely influence Aries sign activities mam ??

If this way of my perception is wrong, kindly delete this comment without posting it mam.. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Kindly forgive me for wasting your time with this naive question 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Much much gratitude for your valuable insights as always mam..🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Namaste and thank you Mam for sharing

Reading a former post on Rahu, Saturn and Mars aspects and adding to this post, I am wondering what recurring results would Saturn-Rahu conjunct in the 4th with an 8th aspect of Mars in the birth chart result in? And would that aspect get activated strictly when Saturn or Rahu crosses over the house? Would there be reasons for worrying?

Pranams Ma’am. I am reading your articles as a beginner in Astrology and thank you very much for this Vidya daana. Your articles have clarified a number of concepts for me. My doubts are on some earlier posts and as the comments are closed there, I am asking these questions here. One is regarding identification of functional malefics and the other is how exactly a natural benefic manifests results as a functional malefic in a chart
    a) In your post https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2020/03/13/ascendants-and-functional-malefics/, you identify Gemini as a lucky sign to have only Rahu and Ketu as functional malefics. In the other/ earlier post https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2019/05/20/kendra-adhi-pati-functional-malefics/, you identify Jupiter as the functional malefic for Mercury ascendants, perhaps more in line with Parasara rules as captured in some books e.g. B V Raman’s. How do we reconcile these two inputs? b) if Jupiter is a functional malefic for a lagna and strongly placed in his own house, will his aspects 5,7,9 be benefic or malefic to the aspected houses? I have read somewhere a happy planet in own house always has a benefic gaze/ aspect. b1) If these aspects are benefic, then how does his functional maleficity manifest? What effects will be there on the same houses during his dasa periods? will he be good for aspected houses but bad for occupied houses? b2) What relevance does the role of functional malefic play during transits as distinct from dasa periods? b3) If Jupiter is a functional malefic, will he still protect or damage his natural karakatvas e.g. wealth or progeny if their their bhaavas are not posited, lorded or aspected by Jupiter in the natal chart. Hope you can clarify these questions. Thank you very much for your posts again

      Hi there
it is accurate. study your sample charts. identify people with gemini asc and see how their lives have unfolded and compare their life patterns with eg cancer

Jupiter is certainly not a ‘functional malefic’ fr gemini/virgo asc.
      he is the kendra adhipati.
i have clearly written in that post why and how he becomes incapable of aggressively promoting his houses.
and this happens because as a benefic he is in charge of houses where he has to be aggressive but he cannot do it because of his innate nature.

Jupiter as a functional malefic will add his this flavour to the houses he aspects too. it will be subtle but the effect will exist.

again do not take my word for it, find some samples in your family/friend circle with Cancer, Libra, Taurus, Capricorn ascs and analyse how the keywords of Jupiter have subtly afflicted their lives, specifically analyse how their teachers, elders in the family, higher education, life philosophy, if they do any kuldevata puja/pilgrimages/big anushthans, how their marriage event came about, how they are seen in the society, etc. the answers will be evident.
if you are able to analyse using medini principles, analyse our Bharat’s chart.

i wrote 2 simple post on analysing dasha periods depending on the houses that a planet owns.

dusham owner in his own house will give good results, its the vipreet raj yog, wrote on it.
      https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2019/04/20/sometimes-malefics-help-you/

natural karakatvas will be protected if he is strong and the rest of the chart is strong. but he will give you subtle pain.
eg if he aspects the 5th as a functional malefic, you will face problems in pregnancy/childbirth or post childbirth there will be arguments in the family, raising the child will be a turbulent process for you etc. i know someone like this
eg he will not allow you to go to the temple of your kuldevata or perform pujas there. again this is a chart i know
eg you will not be accepted by your family coz some typical reason or your husbands family will not accept you, again this is an example i have seen

you really must have your own set of 30+ charts, family and friends, it will help immensely in learning practical Jyotish.

      Pranam SHASHISHEKARA ANANTHARAMAIAH ji,

The questions you asked about Jupiter were once my doubts too because most people think of Jupiter more as a natural benefic only..

Tejaswini Mam explained about Jupiter very well and her way of expression was so insightful as always.. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻😍😍

As a basic level learner as per my limited knowledge i would like to share my perception on your questions hope it makes sense..

a] What I have heard from the elders is that when a newlywed couple is having trouble for child birth or if there is any conflicts between them, if any of their relatives are Gemini Lagna, if they go to their house and stay for a few days then the bond between them will increase and good will happen.. Although some Gemini people have seen many ups and downs in their lives, I have seen people who are inspiring as an ideal couple..

One more important observation is I found 6 charts of Jupiter and Venus opposite placement (180°). 5 of them, with different ascendants, first marriage broke down and one person with Gemini asc escaped from these marriage issues but had to stay away from her spouse for many years because of Job..

Keeping technical terms aside, just based on the Gemini symbol(two persons) they might be good at sharing everything and travel this life with companions so they may have less trouble when compared to the other ascendants..

So I came to understand when compared to other ascendants Gemini is somewhat better..

b] Even if Jupiter is placed in his own house, if he has to give his results as functional malefic he will definitely give..
And planets have more strength when exalted than sitting in their own house..

I have seen that Jupiter is giving clearer malefic effects for Tarus and Libra ascendants than Gemini and Virgo..
And If he holds 6th house it will be even more so.

As per my perception Saturn and Mars malefic results are very straight and visible but coming to Jupiter, if he wants to give malefic results means it’s so painful and can not share most of the times..
      like Well believers are deceivers,
Even we don’t have enough we feel like should give to others,
After carrying so many heavy responsibilities we are left unattended and unaware of who we are,
Sometimes expansion of diseases and body weight and relationships etc etc etc

b1] Jupiter 5,7,9 aspects as a sahaja subha karaka is good but without help of antardasha planets and other chart combinations Jupiter can not give his malefic/benefic results individually..

What if other planets occupy Jupiter aspecting houses ??
Based on what chart is saying (purpose) manifestation will be done..

Will he be good for aspected houses but bad for occupied houses?

For this question of yours I’m going to say one example for Taurus asc, Jupiter situated in his own Sagittarius 8th house(life after marriage) so he aspecting 12th house (bed comforts)
2nd house(new entrant of the family) and 4th house(happiness at home) but this person during Jupiter maha dasha took divorce.. so clearly 4 houses are affected here..

But here 8th Jupiter granted spiritual knowledge to that person.. but married life is affected..

And it doesn’t happen to everyone like this for that the rest of the combinations must be supported in the chart..

b2] It depends on the moon sign placement..

b3] if he is enemy to ascendant lord definitely he will give malefic results in many ways.. sometimes depending on his natural karakatvas or aspecting houses or situated houses..

I noticed that if a functional malefic Mahadasha comes at 80 or 90 years old, by that time this person may not have lived so that planet is giving his adverse results by default during life time..

Actually here not only Jupiter, all planets give both malefic and benefic results as we took this human birth means we have both good and bad karmas with us..
To re-balance these karmas we came here and here Jyothish indicates where we are going to face trouble and what strength we have through the birth chart..

So one combination does not definitely decide anything, few more combinations must be involved to get any results.. no need to be afraid of single placements at all..

All the above are as per my limited knowledge.. I hope it will be helpful to you..🙏🏻

And mam if my explanation is wrong kindly delete this comment mam 🙏🏻 i just tried to share few points as per my limited knowledge as once I too got these kind of doubts..🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Thank you for this beautiful knowledge portal mam.. 💗💗🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Lots of respect, love and gratitude 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

    Hello Ma’am,

Thanks for the guidance. I have few query for which need your directions

    1. How should ashtakvarga in j.hora be calculated? As per parashar or vahamir’s school of thought? And should lagna points be counted as well?

    2. For leo ascendant, Saturn is kantak shani and rules dusht house also + mars is a yogakarka.

    – Though transits are seen from moon but how to assess since its a malefic for leo and what if its very weak in the chart due to noon birth. How to judge better in this case? Sun is strong.

    – So if someone has both saturn and mars in 7th house, will the combination act as beneficial or bad as per your article for that house’s significance

    – Also mam, if 8th or 12th house lord is aspecting 7th house which is already owned by malefic saturn (natural benefic jupiter looking from 3rd house)…does it destroy yoga of marriage. Again clubbing both second and third point?

Wouldn’t Saturn’s transit in Aquarius for leo ascedants as an example trigger 7th house karakatwa, rather? That’s the karma attached, right? Which saturn has come to set-off and go through

Please let me know about all ma’am sometimes even basics and so many combinations confuse during application

      saturn mars together

jupiter for leo owns a dusham. mooltrikon sign in 6th.

yes, it will trigger 7th house things, so choose what keyword you wish to trigger

a good marriage is possible if
      1. charts are checked before matching
      2. the dasha which come after the vivah are supportive
      3. the pujas etc of the sanskar are done properly and both do their daily pujas etc sincerely for a life time. i have seen so many charts where points were below 10 or severe defects to the 7th etc houses but they kept their marriage alive coz they both took extra efforts. but in all these charts the Moon/asc sign/asc lord were very strong.
fr this sort of analysis you should show both the charts to a good astrologer.
