Our Bharatvarsha the Aryavarta

Our nation, our Bharat भारत is one, we are the residents of Bharatvarsha भारतवर्ष , we are all Bharatiya. We are the oldest civilisation, the mother of all civilisation. We are older than history itself. Never forget that. We are the Arya आर्य , residents of Aryavrat आर्यावर्त, we are the last remnants of Sanskruti संस्कृति .

We have lost information, we have forgotten our own history to the extent of forgetting our own language but still we are on the right path. Several of us have forgotten themselves completely, but still there is a significant percentage of us who feel the beat of Dharma in our individual souls and are willing to walk on the Sanatan path. Hold this thought in your heart and be proud of what you are, a Bharatiya भारतीय, above all.

The Vishnu Puran gives the definition of our Bharat and us its children, the Bharati. The first shlok is this,

उत्तरं यत्समुद्रस्य हिमाद्रेश्चैव दक्षिणम्। वर्षं तद्भारतं नाम भारती यत्र सन्ततिः।।

The land at the North of the Ocean and at the South of the snow clad Mountains, this is called Bharat and the children of this land are called the Bharati भारती .

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

Go through the Vishnu Puran to read what this our land, our Bharat भारत, is really all about. The several  dynasties, the numerous kings who ruled this Aryavarta from the time of Manu मनु are all recorded in detail here. This, in the Vishnu puran, is the history of us humans on Earth.

I will emphasise two essential points from the Vishnu Puran’s description of our Bharat, the rest you can read from the Puran itself.

  • The name of our nation, Bharat, comes from Chakravarti Samrat Bharat चक्रवर्ति सम्राट भरत, the eldest son of Chakravarti Samrat Vrushabh चक्रवर्ति सम्राट वृषभ and his wife Merudevi मेरुदेवी. This is way back in history, it is beyond ancient, tens of thousands years possibly. His capital was at Ujjain the city of Bhagwan Mahakaleshwar, this is the oldest capital city in the world. (I hope some Bharatiya government does deep archeological digs in this area soon)
    • Our nation is not named after Raja Bharat who was the son of Raja Dushyant and Shakuntala as is popularly propagated. This Raja Bharat was comparatively very recent in history, just a few thousand years ago.
  • Bharatvarsha is the only land on this earth where you can attain Svarg or even Moksh, the entire land pulsates with power. No other land has this inherent quality. This is the only karma-bhoomi in this world. So if you act with positive intention in this land you can achieve the exclusive Svarga/ dimension of highly auspicious energy. Or even the Eternal Advaita, your own Self. Also if you perform inauspicious actions in this Bharat, you will as easily achieve the lok/ dimensions of the lower energy levels.
    • If you are born, live and physically die here, it is because of some auspicious karma of very many lives. Use this time well, it is only a limited breaths long.

Our Bharatvarsha is the original Aryavarta, the land of the wise, the elevated and the Seers.

bharat-mata

In the current times, the land north of the Devi Narmada is called Uttar Bharat and the land south of this river is called Dakshin Bharat. And this has led to such complications that Adi Shankaracharya himself had to come up with several energy solutions to bridge these two superficially divided mindsets. Most important is this one energy exchange,

  • Anyone worshipping at Shri Kshetra Kashi Vishveshvar Jyotirlingam has to take some water from the Ganga river here and take it to the Shri Kshetra Setu Bandha Rameshwaram Jyotirlingam and do Abhishek over it there.
  • Anyone who worships at the Shri Kshetra Setu Bandha Rameshwaram Jyotirlingam has to take some sand from the Setu Bandha and immerse it at the Ganga in front of the Shri Kshetra Kashi Vishveshvar Jyotirlingam.

Ideally every Bharatiya has to perform this once in his/her life.

Today I was reading a random article by a Jyotishi and Vedic scholar. (I had found an interesting Jyotish article and was looking up more work by the author.) To my utter shock this person is claiming that the Jyotirlingam at Rameshwaram (Dakshin) is more powerful that the Jyotirlingam at Kashi (Uttar). A Vedic scholar or even a Jyotishi must understand that it is all the same Bhagwan. One Lingam cannot be more or less than the other, it is the same. The same Lingam, the same Jyotih is reverberating throughout creation. Whether one goes to Kashi or Somnath or Kedarnath or Rameshwaram or Ujjain or Dwarka or Puri or Badrinath or Ksheer Bhavani or Purnagiri or Hinglaj or Jwaladevi or Kamakhya or Himalay or Sagar or Ganga or Narmada or Sarasvati or Yamuna it is the same Bhagwan of the singular Bharatvarsha.

There is only one Bharatvarsha. And we are all the same, Bharatiya.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

The Lila of the Devi is utterly mystifying. Our own history, philosophy and intelligence is right in front of us, in own our mother tongue Devbhasha Samskrutam, and we cannot read it!

We all have to revive our language, the Devbhasha, in our homes, in our lives, in our hearts. This is the only way out of this morass in which we find ourselves today. We have lost our identity and our language Sanskrit is the only way we can find ourselves again. Let’s give our children the gift of being able to read our own books, the beauty of the Devbhasha. The easiest way is to subscribe to the Sudharma Sanskrit daily newspaper, its just Rs 600/per yr. Reading this one page daily news will help you learn simple daily Sanskrit.

We have to reclaim our language, thus our books, our history, our identity and thus our essential Non-Duality.

    Hello,

Thank you for another insightful blog post. My name is Roohi and I’m a Hindu, born in India, but moved to Canada as a baby with my family and brought up here. I love your blog!

I’ve learned so much about what it means to be Hindu and all the encompasses that. Although my family tried their best to make sure we were raised with the teachings of our faith, naturally there are some gaps that come up along the way growing up in another country.

Learning about Vedic astrology has been wonderful as well, I feel like I understand myself so much better. It’s impossible to take the western astrology we are inundated with here seriously once you start learning about Vedic.

So, thank you again! I will continue to keep reading and learning from your blog posts!

    Dearest Tejaswiniji,

Thank you for this beautiful post 🙏🏻♥️ Your blog itself has brought many of our countrymen closer to our traditions and our sacred culture.

In the past decades, there has been a surge of new-age thoughts. I myself have read many such books and also benefitted from them. While these have their positive side, I have met some people who think only positive thinking is enough and there is no need for rituals. Eg: they say there is no need for Tarpan, if you pray from your heart your deceased loved one is fine. I think this is faulty thinking. I believe our traditions (even if they look like superstitions to the ignorant) have a valid reason and should be followed. I love the way you explain everything so beautifully- in simple and clear terms – in your blog ♥️

Am wishing we readers and your fans like me get more and more such treasures of wisdom in your awesome blog🙏🏻😊

    Lots of love and gratitude

    Namaskaram!

Bhagavan Adi Shankaracharya…in establishing the four maths in the four corners of the land…. allocated one Veda…and its respective Mahavakya to each…the land of Bharat is resonating with the vibrations of these eternal Mahavakyas from each corner.

The four maths are the four pillars (as you have mentioned in one of the comments).

I feel aggrieved…like many…. that there is a void and confusion in this 4-fold structure.

Some collective karma is required by Bharatiyas to restore this peacefully over time through our own sadhana or tapas, big or small… one can only hope it will be sooner than later.

    Namaste Mam,

Please provide your insights on these:

    1. Out of curiosity, if we look at people in western countries, what can they possibly do in their present life to take the next birth here in Bharat? Is being a reasonably good human sufficient, since most of them wouldn’t have any access to information about Sanatan Dharma.

    2. Why is it that even after being able to take birth here, many people (Hindus) stay away from Dharma? What kind of past karma would make them ignore the truth that is available right in front of them?

    3. If one practices spirituality but has to move away from Bharat for a long time, would it reduce the power of their sadhana?

    Thank you!

    2. What is your opinion on Dr. Wayne Dyer, Louise hay, Eckart tolle. They have been quite influential in spreading spirituality even though they were born outside india. There must be some from outside india who people believe they got moksha.

      Hi there
if you think that these books are higher than the Veds ?
Jains worship the same Chakravarti Samrat Vrushabh as the 1st Tirthankar Bhagwan Vrushabhdev.

why do the Shaiva, Shakta, Vishnava, Jain, Sikh etc think that they are higher than the other? ego of some successor ‘Gurus’ who out of personal self ego distorted the original teachings.
all those who worship the OM are children of the Sanatan Dharma, the Ved and Vedanat are the basic wisdom of all these sects. but personal ego!
anyways.. believe what you think enables you. Choice is all yours, so are its repercussions.

these people are caught in self ego.
as long as one is caught in money, fame, etc material glamour etc it cannot happen.

read the Karma bhoomi shloks from the Vishnu puran.
and if you want to dispute the Vishnu puran, go ahead.
in fact it would be a good exercise, find their charts and check their power, see if the possibility of Moksh exists. also if they lived their life in that way. if their philosophies, their aura indicate that they had achieved that.
anyone can copy from philosophical texts. but that same thing from someone who has achieved it ‘feels’ different.

one simple eg. listen to the Shiv tandav stotra or the Shri Ram stuti recited by Shri Kalicharan Maharaj and those recited by any other singer. see which voice energy carries the real power.
those who have no personal ego have the Eternal powering them. this is rare.

    My questions are
    1. what happens by this activity?
    2. I am staying approximately 600km from sree rameshwaram temple, and have visited once, the temple. Though, I don’t worship him directly, i would recite ‘om namaha shivaya’, or exclaim ‘shiva’ while casually speaking, can I perform the above auspicious act, if god graces me?

      Hi there
i haven’t done it as yet so cannot provide any personal experience on this. whenever it happens will write on it.

but if you have time and wish to think, i mean really think beyond what you have been conditioned to.
1 where is the Ganga Sagar? and how big is it exactly?
2 where do the Asti of the 60000 Sagar putra lie exactly?
3 the sea floor topography of the so called ‘bay of bengal’ is very interesting, why is so flat and featureless?
4 why is there a channel in the seas right along side east coast from the Ganga delta to the Rameshwaram point? who made it and why?
5 why did Shri Ram build the Setu as a Bandh, only to take his army across or was there any other reason? ie why do we call it the ‘Setu Bandh’ when only Ram Setu should have been enough? what does ‘Bandh’ mean really?

this is the reason we must know our mother tongue Sanskrit. our history! we need to be able to read our history. our Ithihas.

i will not answer these questions. find out the answers for yourself and be prepare to be amazed.

If one does not worship the Lingam then what else can be worshipped in this creation?

once you see the sea floor topography of the Ganga Sagar you realise that it in its entirety is not a natural creation. the efforts of the Sagarputra resulted in the Ganga sagar.
then you see channel at the point of the delta all along the east coast culminating at Rameshwaram.
        the answer is obvious.
we must forget all the english names, that is why Sanskrit is essential, we must refer to the places by their real names, it is our history

Bandh also means a Dam. so why use this word? what was dammed up by him at this point?

Dam is generally built as reservoir(to hold). To store water. As water is essential. To preserve water and use during Summers/during scarcity.

So, he stored something. Rameshwaram has 22wells in temple premises, all tastes different.
However you are referring to setu bandh which is happening at Arabian sea and bay of Bengal.

You have written about the real meaning of ashvamedha yag in this blog and what we are actually sacrificing. I learned from this blog that Bandha also means lock right?
This lock is the bottom most/ southern part. Does this represent the locked kundalini energy of the land? Like we have in our own body with 3 and half turns? So you start from here and slowly move towards the northern part as we do in our body?

Thank you for everything you do!

yes, the ultimate hope is that we evolve.

but the site of the Rameshwaram,
think on what events have happened there,
it starts with Rishi Agyasti drinking up the waters to destroy the Kalakeyas
and then so many many things

If, according to Hindu cosmology, Mount Meru is the axis which leads upwards to Swarga lokas….then below Bhuloka must be the netherworlds….Patala etc…

If this is correct…I won’t be able to sleep tonight…..too dazed and wonderstruck.

Here’s what I have further discovered on this mystical trail…

Bhagirath’s tapas is successful in bringing Ganga to Ganga Sagar for his ancestors, the 60,000 sons of Sagara…now in ashes at Agni Teertham at Rameshwaram. When Ram Setu was built (Treta Yuga) , Ganga could not reach the sands of Rameshwaram…so the sand (meaning the ashes) is carried by pilgrims to Kashi for immersion in Ganga there and Ganga jal is brought from Kashi again by them. Rameshwaram Shivalinga (and its sands) now offered pure Ganga jal alone and not the confluence of various other rivers in the ocean…

Rameshwaram is known for pitru tarpanam. Now I understand why.

Like detectives we are piecing together the itihas of Bharat…😀 🙏

    Still some puzzles left….

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there
Will give my understanding directly from the simple Sanskrit reading of the Ramayan, events as per geography, plate positions etc, no esoteric stuff.

(this story is given in the Mahabharat, but has occurred ages before Sagar)
Rishi Agasti lived near the river Kavery as it was a boon for him that pure water will be available to him in the Dakshin. Kalakeyas were causing havoc and hiding underwater in the water bodies of this area, so he drank up all the water here. It became a desert, no water anywhere. At this time there was no ‘Bay of Bengal’ ie that land was on the same level as the rest of Bharat. And there was no water here coz Agasti muni drank up whatever was there.

Then ages later, the 60000 sons of Sagar came to this area searching fr their horse.
Each dug up one sq Yojan area till they reached the Rasatal depth. All this is happening within the present BoB area till Shri Lanka (the land was dug up till here as per Ramayan).
They reached the elephants, these sound like tectonic plates from the description in the Ramayan. The eastern Virupaksha, southern Mahapadma, western Sumanasa, northern Bhadra.
They then went north east of the ditch and were burnt to death by Rishi Kapil.
So logically Rishi Kapil was staying at the modern Bangladesh or the very eastern part of current WB.

The Asti of the 60000 sagar putra now were all over the current area of the BoB from Rishi Kapil ashram in WB till Shri Lanka till Dhanushkoti.

Then Anshuman Dilip and Bhagirath do their job.

Bhagirath knows that the asti are till Dhanushkoti and he has to make sure the river water reach every single Sagar putra asti. So that channel all on the east coast, bringing the pure water down till this point. As the water finally reached the Asti which were farthest from home he did the Tarpan for all with the Gangajal. so the Dhanushkoti is the point where Bhagirath did this huge tarpan and got freed from the curse of the ancestors.

The Ganga continues to flow and fill up the 60000 sq yojan ditch which is the Ganga Sagar. We should call it by its real name as per history.

Now Shri Ram is on the scene.

Shri Ram calls the physical bridge Nala Setu which we call Ram Setu. We should also call it Nala Setu as Shri Ram himself named it thus. 6/123/16.

Now interestingly it is said ‘in legends’, that he stopped at Jyotirlingam Rameshwaram when he was on his way back from Lanka, this he did not.

as per the Ramayan, he boarded Pushpak yaan at Lanka, stopped at Kishkindha and directly to Ayodhya.

But 6/123/19 he pointed out the last land of Bharat to Devi Sita and said that the Mahadev granted him his blessings earlier at this place. (How Mahadev gave blessings to Shri Ram is not given in detail.)

And he describes the Setu Bandh in the next 6/123/20-21.
‘Etat atah….. ‘. indicates that the specific land where he was blessed by Mahadev is very near that land where he met Vibhishan.
This, where he met Vibhishan, is the Setu Bandh, the ‘tirtha’ of the great Sagar, this is at Dhanushkoti.
This is the actual point where one must do the snan. (Apparently this tiny point has sweet water though is surrounded by salt water on all sides)
(tirth has several meanings. Birth canal, water, teacher, fire, correct time/place, road, pilgrimage, entrance etc.)

I think this point existed from the times when the Sagarputra were digging up the earth. They left this point untouched. it is linked to the underground Fire बडवाग्नि. It is the Agni tirth after all. The Agni tirth is not at the exact temple but at Dhanush koti.

One thing reg a Jyotirlingam’s origin. A stone shivlingam is never installed in a temple. These typical stones, ie lingams are identified by Rishi and the temple is built over it. they are meteorites. The Shivlingam was already there. so
      1. Maybe Shri Ram identified it and did its puja and was blessed by Mahadev. Very much possible.
      2. But a Parthiv Shivlingam can also be made. Especially so on the banks of the River Ganga using the sand from her banks. this fits. So the Shivlingam that he made was at the banks of the Ganga as she herself flows there. And as it was made by an Avtar it may not have lost its shape.
But there is nothing in the Ramayan clarifying this. Both these are my personal conjecture.

Ganga jal and Sand exchange is to reinforce the energy of the water at the Setu Bandh. Pure Ganga jal is after all a very precious energy.

Read the Ramayan with an open mind.
and learn to read Sanskrit, there is really no option for followers of Sanatan Dharma.

Speechless on reading this reply, I humbly feel that this is so precious that this should be a post in itself. And one can miss gems like this, as it is amongst a multitude of discussions.

Sincere regards , gratitude and prayers as always,

        Hi there
We shud call the bay of bengal as the Ganga sagar. (And the arabian sea as the Sindhu sagar). The original name is our history.
We have forgotten what the family of Sagar have done! Lets recognise tht again.

When i do darshan there will write a post on the Setu Bandh and the Jyotirlingam.

This comment is simply frm the Ramayan, just put the Sanskrit words in simple English. Anyone can do it. I have no personal contribution as such in it. Its all Valmiki Muni’s.

Ma’am, on another note, I wanted to ask what kind of helping is the right help for

    1. Depressed person
    2. NGOs – food or normal education
    3. Stray animals and birds
    4. Right place for Donating money (temples , pandemic struck areas, poor person’s operation, education or sthg else?)

Should we help if everyone is living his own karma, if yes when?

    Regards

      Hi there

      1. professional counsellor, being there to listen to him, take him to a temple, or not as per your choice.
      2. i personally do not like giving anything to a NGO
      3. giving to giving them food or medical care or nothing at all as per your choice
      4. i would offer to deities. in temples, shmashanbhoomis. Or for Dharma ie for sanskars of people who cannot afford but are capable yajnopavit, marraige, anteyshti, etc. helping deserving kids study is a good thing too.
all this should be as per your choice, why ask me?
      eg
you may feel that you have to give rs 5 to a beggar sitting on the ghat of the narmada.
but i may feel that i need to put the rs 5 in the waters of the narmada.

if you are very sure that helping him is not ur karma then go ahead.
it is ideal to do everything you feel you should do with a sahaj bhav, ie act as per your own conscience.

    Madam ji

The setu bandh was actually bandh of the way between bhulok and patala lok?..like where the gangamayi was led by bhagheeratha to give santhi to sagaraputhras there and later it was closed up by Shri Ram? Rameshwaram is the meeting point of two loks…🤔

    Hi Tejaswiniji

Beautiful and very logical, plausible explanation to the Setu Bandh mystery.

That brings to couple of more questions

    1. Before Bhagirath, can we presume river Ganga was a part of a glacier in the Himalayas ( Kailash ) ? And not a flowing river? Or did river Ganga at some point dried up and Bhagirath did the penance to bring her back in a flowing state ?

    2. Does it imply what Bhagirath did was an actual demonstration of river linking ?

    3. Slightly off beat question, is the current Bharat + Srilanka a part of Jambudwipa?

    Thanks
    Gayatri

      Hi there
      1. Skandha has a big role in this. Dividing the river into the 7 streams frm Kailas.
She is Himalaya and Mena’s daughter but as the devatas requested they sent her to svarga. She also resided in brahmadevs kamandalu. Then again at bhagiraths request she was sent down.
Unless i understand more of this i cannot comment.
Kailas is a mystery, its hardly 100km away straight line frm where i live. Mayb when i go see it stand before it i may know something if they show it.
Its upto these higher intelligences the deities Shankar Skandha Ganga etc to show their reality.

2 Sagars family were majorly into geoengineering.
Ganga sagar ie todays Bay of bengal
Bringing down Ganga and her 7 divisions at kailas. This includes brahmapurta.
Digging ganga channel frm kailas till dhanush koti
Bharat built a highway of over 300 km in a week or so to b able to meet Shri Ram. Ayodhya to chitrakut.
Then Nala setu ie todays ram setu.

      3. Yes. Ref vishnu puran

How does the mystery of Saraswati River fit into all this? Some archealogical
discoveries are popping up here and there but…..? Some historical evidence that Bharatvarsha was called Saraswati Civilisation is also there…but sadly also in vague references.

Can’t remember where I read……that the human consciousness is considerably weakened now for Saraswati’s darshan…therefore the disappearance. (maybe in your posts somewhere…or elsewhere…I’m not sure)

For me the concept of Yuga helps whenever I try to understand anything about Bharat..whether it is geography of Bharat or avatars etc ..the Yuga timeline is mind-blowing. AD/BC is reductive and irrelevant.

    Namaskaram!

Wanted to share one last (personal) thing about this Ram Setu discussion that you initiated for us.

I wondered at the timing of this….of having completed Sundara Kandam Parayanam on 2nd January…that this mananam on Ram Setu a few days later is His prasad.

But I have just realised that the Aditya Hrudaya Stotram which I had been chanting for the past fortnight also had a part to play in it.

The intro verse of this Stotram…of Sage Agastya walking up to Suryavamshi Rama and asking Him to get the blessings of Surya Bhagavan as Lord Rama stands on Ram Setu facing the battle…..🙏

I am grateful that your discussion/blog has made it all come alive for me.

    Namaste mam,
Thank you for the beautiful and crisp narration on Setu bandh.
Mam, there are auspicious mountains and I have heard about kailash manasarovar yatra and Arunachala giri pradashina. Meteorite as I heard in the narration, what energy do they have, are our mountains not from our land? Are they meteorite? Something amazed me.

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there
      Jyotirlingams are not from earth.
these other auspicious mountains have portals to the other dimensions.

        Mam,
If due to some reasons (say corona/ financial), I am unable to visit the mountains, then how can I experience the auspicious of the mountains energy. Is there a way. Please guide.
I am still a layman and searching for experience in them. Coz, once dhyana is fruitful, I need not have to search outside.
