Someone asked me if we should not use Agarbatti in pujas as it contains a thin sliver of bamboo. He thought bamboo to be inauspicious because it used for laying out the dead bodies for the Anteyshthi Sanskar. This is faulty thinking as leaving the physical body and its subsequent Anteyshthi is not an inauspicious activity. In fact Anteyshthi is a Sanskar, the ‘right and auspicious action’.

(I am from Konkan. The houses in our villages are built in large plots, wadis, surrounded by trees and bamboos. We use bamboos in several ways and also the young shoots/rhizomes are eaten in a curry. We do not consider it to be inauspicious.)

I encourage everyone to learn to see auras. It is a useful skill as it gives you a basic idea on whether the person, object, place, ‘haunted’ places, sound or even the thought process you are being exposed to is positively or negatively charged. And you can then act accordingly to protect yourself or open yourself more to the energy. You can also monitor your own aura and take corrective actions in time.

If you can see auras or even sense the energy of objects, do check out the aura of a live bamboo plant or a cut bamboo stick. It is a unique plant on the energy levels, ie its aura is completely neutral. Its energy does not interfere, overlap, impinge or influence the auras of other things put on it, through it or the activities and energy events going on around it etc. No other plant has this sort of energy property.

(Kusha grass or Darbha grass also has unique energy properties, but it is used in activities involving living humans)

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

The Anteyshthi is the last Sanskar, the most important one. This compound word can be understood as ‘the Ishti of the Antah’.

  • Antah – agreeable, handsome, nature, condition, inside, presence, proximity, whole amount, certainty, settlement, death, end, destruction, final, term, boundary, edge etc.
  • Ishthi – sacrifice, fruit, desire, request, wish, endeavour, something that is wanted or needed, invitation, acceleration, impulse, order, despatch, seeking. etc

Put these above word meanings together to get an idea of the grandness of this event on so many levels.

Even after the jivatma exits from the shell it is still subtly linked to it. The Anteyshti uses this link to power the individual soul and gives it the generated energy for moving out of the Martyalok, the physical world and reaching the Pitrulok, dimension of the departed jivatma, safely. It is a very precise process and the slightest energy interference can cause issues for the individual soul’s journey. The jivatma is already tired after living on the Martyalok for so long and wants to go to its deigned dimension as soon as possible. Several intense mantra are performed on the discarded body by the heir to generate maximum energy during its dissolution by Agni. It is a yajnya, ie an evolution of the highest level. The Anteyshthi is an auspicious process, the energy generated is positive. The fire is the conscious Agni who ensures protection. The Shmashan, ie the place where this is happening is a high energy place, ie it is the residence of Bhagwan Shankar and its energies are equivalent to a Devalaya.

Thus the bamboo mat on which the body is laid out is the perfect container for this purpose. This specific requirement of the Anteyshthi, ie energy neutrality for the dead body is fulfilled only by this bamboo mat.

In fact bamboo is known to be a thermal insulator. Compressed bamboo sheets are used as building material in cold areas. Do learn to see auras and see for yourself how this ‘thermal insulator’ material is in fact an ‘energy insulator on so many levels.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

Ever wondered why the flute, Vamshika is so soothing? Why its music can stir deep emotions in your heart? Or trigger long lost memories from your past? Or show you flashes of your past lives? The inherent energy neutrality of the bamboo plant is the reason why bamboo flutes are so powerful. The emotion of the flautist, the power of the Saptasvar, and energy the melody is expressed by the Vamshika, as it is. Music from a bamboo flute is pure in that sense and impacts you in a way no other musical instrument can. If you are in a really contemplative mood, or want to use music consciously for its power, listen to flautists who play Bharatiya Raga on bamboo flutes.

(I find the native American flute music played by native Americans to be the most evocative. It is a strange mix of sadness, pain, betrayal, longing and yet pure beauty.)

So the Bamboo plant is definitely not inauspicious, it is one of the purest materials. And if you want to use agarbatti for your pujas, go ahead, its all good.

Thank you Ma’am for such enlightening post.

Now a days you get the bamboo plant for home as a Feng shui commended.
Does it help in any way with the energies of home?

    Kind regards.

Any other option for store bought agarbatti in our pujas since i developed allergy like wheezing during these days because of agarbattis .I was searching for a natural replacement option for that. I need your guidance, why are the days closing so fast. Why are years completing so soon. I feel that I am living like a robot, do my work and the days close to open a new day of work ….soon. is it just my illusion or are days closing rapidly and years rolling over rapidly.

      Hi there
it is winter, days are short, eg where i live sunset is at 5pm and sunrise at 7:15am. and the sun is so far to the south that it feels like its afternoon or evening all the time 🙂

but your observation is right, our perception of time has changed. time seems to be moving fast. but the more correct way would be situations are changing very fast so we feel time is moving fast. plus the lockdowns, start/stops have affected our perception of time.
and we are doing too many things. being online is the single reason that our sense of time has accelerated.
try this on a holiday. do not open your phone for the internet. ie answer/make calls. but do not use whatsapp, youtube etc or generally surf the net. if you want to read something, pick up a book. and do not switch on the TV. and see how time seems to slow down again.
And as i had mentioned somewhere, Mahakaal has awakened.

        Pranaam Madam,
I find it difficult to find words to describe the sense of “the realization dawning on me” when I read all your posts on this knowledge portal. Each article in this portal is exhiliratingly beautiful on many levels, two of them being a) the concept itself b) your amazing , profoundly gifted writing.

What we get here is beyond knowledge, it is essentially “self”. This is again an example for how profoundly gifted your writing is, as it is difficult to explain in words as to what we “understand”.

        This post for example :
        https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2021/06/02/four-ways-of-estimating-time/

Madam, this post is precious and immensely so. It makes us understand the concept of “kaal”. What our ancient rishis “decoded” thousands of years ago, is essentially modern physics is attempting to get at. If I may humbly share a thought, which is not new, but I would humbly like to express it :

Our perception of time is past, present and future, and to “understand time” in a “tangible ” manner (I really stress on the word “tangible”). This perception is essentially OF the all pervasive energy or self. It is overwhelming to understand and realize that our ancient rishis did understand this energy of perception of Kaal.

Madam, what I wrote above is essentially what I understand from this knowledge portal. Thus, the jyotish shastra, from my humble understanding, is essentially the shastra for the energy that IS driving how we perceive time in terms of past, present and future.

As the energy IS , we ARE.

I chose this opportunity to humbly express my limited understanding, further limited by the fact I cannot really express hundred percent of what I “realize”.

Thanks is such a small word indeed to describe our gratitude to you Madam.

        Best wishes and sincere regards,

    Namaste Mam,

During any puja or homa or abhishek at home, there is a sense of satisfaction majority of the times due to the priests, who seem to have performed it upto our satisfaction (even though there may be several ritualistic, pronunciation or other errors which goes unnoticed to many).

But during the anteyshthi, there is almost always dissatisfaction due to the priest being incompetent or for having skipped several rituals or mantas. Why is it this way? What can be done to ensure that all the rituals are followed and completed? Would the soul still find its way if this is done in a “shortcut” method or with major errors? It is also difficult to find priests who perform this sanskar than the happy ones.

    Thank you!

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there
everyone in the family/ friend circle is scared of this last sanskar so their these emotions get reflected back to them.
fr the soul, it depends on the heir the most, he needs to focus on his intention and avoid getting emotional, then irrespective of the minor errors in the mantra the soul will get what it needs. it is Agni, the Jaatvedah, it is a conscious, intelligent and aware energy. the heir should know why and what he is doing.
eg in my own mother’s pinda daan, i noticed that the pandit was not reciting all the necessary mantra, repeating the same one a few times! but my cousin brother, my dad and the men from his family were very clear about things. so it went very well.
plus it depends on the soul who has left, if it was in regret then the atmosphere in the house will be depressed. if it was clear about things, then this can be a very fruitful period coz your own ancestors are available fr a brief period of time.

Can we do homa of Siddhkunjika and Durga Sapta shloki? If yes How?

Agnihotra has its specific time, precise sunset and sunrise.
Rahu kaal has nothing to do with it.

you can do anything you like in the Sandhya-kaal.

for Durga Sapta shloki homa, i suggest you get a Brahmin and get it done during the 4 Navratris
if you are a beginner then i would not advise doing anything intense on your own with this book.

    Dearest Tejaswiniji,

Thank you for this lovely post🙏🏻♥️ Bamboo is considered shubh, that’s what my mom had told me.

I have a question. My dad passed away about 16 years ago. I have been doing tarpan for him every year. When he died I did the mistake of constantly thinking of him. After a year of his death I stopped this habit. I inwardly resolved the issues I had with him – when alive, he was never available to me (especially emotionally) although we lived in the same house. Now I don’t think about him much and if a thought comes, I pray for his happiness and then change my thoughts. Strangely, whenever I am facing a difficulty he is always there for me, although I have never had any such expectation from him (neither when he was alive & definitely not after his death).

Years ago I has an incurable illness which was not life threatening. But I took it as a challenge and healed myself. I knew I was healed. Months later when I went for my annual medical I felt like I was going for an exam (like in college days) – I was a bit anxious as I’d get physical proof of my healing. I was traveling and felt my dad’s unmistakable presence next to me. It was comforting and my slight anxiety turned to confidence. Last year I had a difficult time about a family issue and there was a decision I had to take, but kept putting off because of lack of courage. My dad appeared in my dream and told me to act, which I did the very next day.

Do these experiences mean that my dad is somehow earthbound? We had done his Asti visarjan in River Ganga. Can souls from Pitrulok know what their loved ones in Martyalok are facing and help them?

    Lots of love and gratitude

Can you please suggest share some info on how to find past life karma (sanchitha), future karma, how to find what kind of karma we ll have with family people especially children
Is every person destined to have children and fulfill their duty?

        Namaste Tejaswiniji,

What triggered my thought were some incidents – a family member did the anteyshti of the spouse by inviting a lot of people (unnecessarily) – many of whom the deceased did not like at all in his lifetime. Was wondering how this would affect that spirit. Also in a separate incident, not at all connected to the first, a grandmother’s spirit believed to be in the crow always came to eat the tarpan rice offered by her favourite grandson first and later went to eat the one offered by the granddaughter.

Is the crow eating the tarpan rice proof that the spirit has accepted the tarpan? Conversely if the crow didn’t eat the rice, does it mean that the spirit has not benefitted?

Many thanks for replying🙏🏻 Most appreciate your responses🙏🏻♥️

        Hi there
not liking someone is also a form of karma.
and it is necessary that everyone participates at the anteyshthi of family, friends and neighbourhood people oyu know. it helps in completing a significant portion of the karmic tie.

ravens are very intelligent and also are deeply connected to the pitr.

ask yourself why does the British royal family keeps ravens and keeps feeding them? even to the point of making them tame so that they do not fly away? who told them to do this? ever wondered what will happen if they stop doing this?

In kerala we have this belief that if the pitru is not satisfied by the tarpan , balikaka(ravens i guess) wont accept it..they will come but wont touch the rice ball offered or even crows also wont touch it.since now only i came to know about the manthras and energy part now i believe that the its may be because we did not do the mantras and rituals part properly , so they wont accept it.I really dont know if this belief is right or not but people do believe that.same happened in my family also.

        Hi there
Ravens, the jet black colored crows are the actual ones who should come to eat the food offered. they are very different from regular animals.
personally i feel very reassured when they are around.

eg a few years ago, an animal in my care died and i felt very bad as it had cooperated till the very end, despite its innate nature. but i had got it when it was already in a very bad shape. so it died in 2 days. when we were burning its corpse, i requested the Bhagwan to grant it a yoni where it would progress and to my utter shock a raven came flying down and through the smoke of its cremation fire. i have never seen a bird fly like this through fire. for me it was a sign that my prayer was accepted.

    Namaste mam,
I need your guidance, from the post ” Neecha Bhang combination for Debilitated planets” I got to know that energies cannot be destroyed but can be diverted. My first request is how to know that , by what way I can divert? Example Venus Debilitated in Virgo, and it’s debilitation lord Mercury and it’s exaltation lord Jupiter are in 5th nd 9th respectively. How to divert Venus energy in Mercury and Jupiter? Does it mean that I should speak rather being silent( indicated by Mercury) and do teaching/ guidance (indicated by Jupiter)?

From the post “Depression, what does the horoscope say?”, Is there a possibility to divert depression? Can bhavat bhavam of 3rd house from Mercury help me in some way. Example: 3rd from Mercury is Libra with Saturn. Libra being 7th house. Can bhavat bhavam of 7th house ie the 1st house can help divert depression? 1st house being ascendant, thinking about myself and ways to make me happy, will it cure depression?

    Dearest Tejaswiniji,

Thanks a lot for your response🙏🏻♥️ Since there was no option to reply to your response, I have posted my response as new. I didn’t know that participating in Anteyshti completes a portion of karma! I thought the spirit of the deceased may not like having the persons they disliked attending their last rites.

I was much surprised to learn about the British Royal family feeding ravens. I just googled it & was surprised to read about it. It seems they believe that if they don’t feed & keep ravens, it will spell doom for royalty and Britain.

Many thanks for your sharing🙏🏻👍🏻I was touched by your experience of the raven, what a response from God! In my life I have earnestly prayed for many animals, some of whom I happened to meet when they died or I read about their tragic death. Reading about your experience has given me a ray of hope that my prayers to God may have helped those little souls in some way. I think that animal chose you, knowing you would help it heal and evolve.

When my dad was in the hospital I came across a sick raven and got it home. It was recovering very slowly. I had a very hectic time then – morning I’d rush to the hospital to be with my dad, pay bills, etc and come back at night dead tired physically, mentally, in every way. With all this I was also taking care of this raven. None of my family members share my love for animals, except my mom. So I was the only one taking care of it. I was also giving it reiki everyday. It was healing but very slowly. After several days some of my family members told me that this raven was probably a pitru and I should not keep it in the house. I was reluctant to release this raven as it had not completely recovered but was healing. My mom told me to admit it to the animal hospital so it was taken care of and not in the house. Because of my hectic schedule, I (reluctantly) admitted it to the animal hospital at night. The hospital called me the next day early morning and told me the raven had died. I was deeply upset because I thought it would have lived had I kept it in my house. It all felt like a bad omen and I was very disturbed. My dad died several days later. Your reply about ravens reminded me about this incident. What do you think? Was that raven really a pitru? Did it come to help?

Thanks from the bottom of my heart🙏🏻♥️ I learn so much from you🙏🏻

    Lots of love and gratitude

    Namaste mam,
I read the beautiful post “Length and Rate of your breathing”.
The forefinger has 3 lines, the portion b/w these lines are angula? Correct me if I am wrong, mam.

Mam, during dhyana I too consciously see that after Soham, during agnya chakra gazing, at some point the breathing tries to elongate and it likes to stop breathing. Still my mind goes here-n-there and comes out of it. That’s nice to co-relate in this post.

Mam, during dhyana, I am now-a-days making changes volunterily. I like to sit in sukhasana and then change my chin mudra to clasping fingers, this is after Soham jaap.

During agnya chakra gazing, after sometime my back moves from straight line to slightly slouch position and then i realise and make it straight.

At times, I feel that my head is pulled back.

Can I sit on soft cushion? And then put my asan on that cotton cushion, it gives me better feeling for the numbness in my left leg!

Mam, I keep Alam for 40min and then do dhayana, to increase my endurance of sitting. My mind wanders and I keep talking to him to give me my time, he does only for some seconds and then he wanders!

Mam, guide me on the above observations, can I continue my practice with these traits? Can you please correct me if I am wrong anywhere.

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there
angula is about 1inch. its defined as 8 barley grains or 8 yava length.
using a soft cushion is ok, if it doesnt spoil the posture.
using an alarm is not advisable.

While calculating these, abhijeet also need to be considered?
In jhora software it is given differently.

Also can above classification be corrleated with Sampat, Kshema, Sadhaka, Mitra, Ati mitra, Janma, Vipat, Pratyari, Naidhana nakshatra? Or these are completely different?

      Hi there
      context is everything.
      and the question you ask.

some chakra use 28 some use 27
the janma nav tara uses 27 so these names of the 9 tara, i have written on this chakra and mentioned it in several posts. it is very useful and simple to understand

the sarvatobhadra chakra uses 28, so these names. its a complex chakra, but if you master it you will not need to learn any other technique, its the Trailokya deepak. i once thought of writing on it but its too complex for beginners. Its originally from the Brahmayamal. Varahmihir and Mantreshwar have written on it. ref their standard books.

i tried writing a bit on the ashtapadmadala chakra but i think it was also very complex for my readers so did not write any more on any other chakra.
