The Moon, your needs and timing Karma

Last Updated on May 20, 2022 by astrologerbydefault

A short essay, in part a reply to a question.

Your needs drive you. You need nurture, nutrition, comforts, affection, roots and a sense of belonging, resources, goals, people around you and so many more things in life. These things are necessary for your life, you cannot live without them. You need them. Some of us have simpler needs, some may have more complicated ones, some may have spiritual ones, while some may have solely material needs. But all of us at some level need. These ‘needs’ are the domain of the birth Moon (post here). Analysing the Moon will indicate what your needs are going to be and also if you will be able to satisfy them or not. He is your needs, your capacity to receive and he decides how you change in life. He is your experience, perceptions, feelings, emotions, instinct, nature and nurture. A strong Moon in the birth chart elevates the quality of the entire life.

If you can satisfy your needs then you enter the stranger domain of your deeply felt desires. These desires are the domain of Rahu, the cryptic Northern Node of the Moon. These desires are not the desires that one feels on a temporary level. Eg you wish to have Lebanese cuisine today. But you are unable to go to a Lebanese restaurant. You feel a bit let down but it does not cause you much turmoil. This is not a deep desire created by Rahu. All of us have Rahu active to some extent in our charts, so have desires operating at some level of consciousness. But if the chart is on a higher evolutionary level (post here) only then will these desires be converted to needs. For this the active power of the Moon is essential.

In Jyotish, the Moon is paramount. He is the Mind or Manas (post on the tattva-s of creation). The Manas decides on what to do, how to do it and for what. He is connected to ‘thought’, and to the movement of pran. Thus he embodies ‘change’ in all possible ways.

www

The Sun is your individual soul, the jivatma. He is the Sahasrara chakra, the individual ray of divine radiance which animates the individual you. He is responsible for the vitality of your entire being. He provides energy in the generic sense. What you do with this energy is not his concern. He is the royal. Overall benevolent but otherwise disinterested and apart from his subjects. Moon is the one who filters this solar energy ie reflects this energy optimally so that you can use it to fulfil your needs. The Sun has a rather indirect role in your life and the karmic activities you are supposed to perform in this lifetime.

Mercury is the intellect, logic, ability to create options and choose the right option etc, but all this is in the context of the need expressed by the Mind. The Mercury finds the best possible way to satisfy the need of the Manas. Mercury can help the mind in deciding the best course of action. He is the intelligence which will process the thoughts once they have been generated by the Moon. But Mercury cannot create thoughts. Thus he too has only an indirect influence over your karma related activities.

Venus is the agent of equitable relationships, one-one partnerships, equal love, money, resources, esoteric learning, true wisdom etc. You strive for these things only if you need to. These are the things that one needs only after the basic survival based needs are satisfied. Venus is the true beauty in all things. He makes his keywords available only when you need them, ie only when your Mind expresses the need. You will act in the direction indicated by Venus only if the Moon shapes such thoughts within you. So Venus too is not the trigger for karmic actions or events in your life.

Then Mars is your physical courage, drive, passion, risk-taking ability etc. He is necessary for implementing the thoughts which the Moon generates. Actually, you are primarily animated by your thoughts. Mars will help you power your actions so that you get what you have thought of, what you need. But Mars is not the one who creates these thoughts in the Mind. He only provides the necessary physical structure, the power, the courage, etc to implement the decision taken by the mind. Thus Mars too does not have a direct role in your karmic things.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

Jupiter too does not have any role in generating thoughts. He is the benevolence of the divine and the timely luck triggered from your own past auspicious deeds. He can arrange for the resources, build them up and provide the exact knowledge required to use these resources. But all this is again for satisfying the needs expressed by the Mind. Jupiter is thus more of a facilitator. He does not generate the impulses in the Mind and is not the primary reason why karmic events happen or why karma is created.

Saturn will ensure that you follow the schedule of the Prarabdha karma you have chosen for yourself at the time of your birth. How you will be paying off your karmic liabilities, when, with whom etc. But he does not choose the Prarabdha himself. This choice is made by your Manas, your Mind, your Moon. Saturn is something like a combined accountant plus enforcer, he keeps a tab of the choices your Mind has made and also enforces these choices in this life. Though we say that Saturn is the karmic force in the chart, in reality the choice of Prarabdha karma to be endured/ enjoyed in this life is made by the Moon alone.

Rahu is the compelling desire of the individual soul. The interlink between the individual soul, the Mind and the desires which has made you take birth on this Earth. Ketu is the Moksh karak, the energy which can take you out of this Game of Creation and allow you true enlightenment. Rahu and Ketu are the abstract flow of karmic energy in your life. They are not directly responsible for any manifested results as they always work through other graha. Only when your jivatma, individual soul reaches a certain level of maturity do they start acting in the deepest sense. For this to happen, the Moon has to play the pivotal role (post here). Rahu Ketu are the astral forces, shadows, illusions, projections and not the primary determinants of the timing and fructification of karma.

www

When you begin learning Jyotish, the first thing you will learn will be the Panchangam, and it’s mostly about the Moon. If you have to calculate Muhurt for starting any new activity or want to choose a time for the birth of a child then you have to understand these Panch-ang, the five limbs.

  • Tithi – the ‘lunar day’ counted from the full moon or no moon day.
  • Karan – one half of a tithi so again connected to the Moon.
  • Nakshatra – the lunar mansion occupied by the Moon at sunrise on that day.
  • Yog – the relative position of the Moon from the Sun.
  • Vaar is the day of the week and is dependant on the 7 graha including the Moon.

You simply cannot ignore the pre-eminent position of the Moon in your chart analysis. He is the only one who actively manages your existence in totality. He is solely responsible for the astral body (post here). He is linked to the power of the Ajnya chakra and its power Hakini (post here). He decides how to create the mind and the body too. He is the one who is responsible for ‘thought’, ie he controls your very existence. The focus of everything, the third eye. He is the connecting link between your past, present, future and parallel existences. The connecting link between the material and the spiritual. He is also the connection between the individual soul, jivatma and the Highest Reality Paramatma.

There are several ways of analysing your birth Moon.

  • The Moon-sign at birth is a major factor. You are more your Moon sign and this will get more amplified with age. After the age of 48yrs, when all the planets mature, you can use just the birth Moon chart for predictions.
  • The Navamsha of the birth Moon tells you if the promise that the Moon shows in the birth chart is genuine or hollow. Does he have the potential to perform as he promises? (post here)
  • Samaagama is when the Moon is influencing any other planet (post here)
  • Influence of the other planets on the Moon (post here)
  • Chandra Avastha, these are a regular part of analysis which comes with practice. (post here)
  • And the very tiny Chandra Kriya, which is a 1/60th portion of the Nakshatra, a very tiny 0°13’20” arc degrees and the Chandra Vela which is a 1/36 division of the Nakshatra arc degree. The kriya and the vela occupied by your birth Moon can grant subtle insights into your personality. Not many studies are available on these two, just a basic one liner from the texts, which you have to study and interpret with practice. (I am not very sure about their interpretation as of now)

Thus Moon is the one who times events in your life. The main Dasa systems Vimshottari Ashtottari, Kaalchakra etc are based on the birth Moon’s position. These dasha-s are completely dependant on his exact location in the Nakshatra. This gives you the starting point of the Dasha. You need to get this right to properly time events in the chart. And this is also the reason that we see the transits also from the birth Moon. Transit results for the planets are seen most strongly from the position of the birth Moon in your chart. You can get some additional pointers from the ascendant sign or that specific planet’s original birth position, but the final say lies with the birth Moon. If this is not favourable then the overall theme of this transit will remain unfavourable. (And you cannot see general transit results from the birth Sun!)

www

It is only your Moon who triggers karma and its fruits. Your own Mind, your thoughts, the Manas does this, none else. Your needs are the reason you get tangled up in the web of Karma.

  • Sanchit karma – The total karmic load which you are carrying with you.
  • Prarabdha karma – The small part of Sanchit karma which you choose to resolve in this life. This is chosen by the Moon, the Mind, Manas.
  • Agami karma – The new karma which you will be creating in your current life. This is also a function of the Moon. He generates thoughts which result in actions and also karma. Depending on your personal inclinations, (these too will be generated by the Moon), you can endure some of this Agami karma in this current life itself and add the remaining to the Sanchit karma. Or add this entire quantum to the Sanchit karma.

The Moon is responsible for activating the karmic influences from your past Sanchit load in this current life. He is also the one who is going to create more Agami in your current life as he is your Mind. It is only the Moon, the Manas, who is the reason for and also the timing for all the events which will occur during your existence.

Moon is the only one who can create thoughts. As as you think, so you are.

Hello ma’am, love the articles where you breakdown points and then take them all back to source point.
I think most of us have read all the linked articles as well.
Ma’am I am bit unclear about a certain concept.i was comparing two charts, one which has tenth Lord in 8 th house.other chart which has tenth Lord in 5 th house.but have read the bhavat bhavam articles you have written also.so tenth Lord in 5 th house is 8 th from 8 th house.
Both chart holders have changed multiple jobs.only difference it was more sudden change in chart holder of 10 th Lord in 8 th house and also change post marriage of native I am told. Of course I might be missing out things here ( besides it’s a single placement I am referring to).
How best should I compare and contrast these two scenarios ma’am.. when one chart is of dushamstana placement and other bhavat bhavam of 8 th house. If you could please guide?

      Hi there
Jyotish is a Vidya and a Vedang. So the reference point here should always be ‘self-illumination’. you cannot teach or learn or interpret Jyotish without this basic premise.

      For Bhavat Bhavam
      https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2020/01/29/bhavat-bhavam-convert-the-potential-into-the-actual/

I am not sure if I have understood your question correctly.

But 10th lord in 8th will mean that the job changes will be sudden, possibly a very drastic change (for better or worse will depend on other factors like dasha/transit etc). This person may be working more in secluded environs. Public interface will be lesser. Possibly research oriented etc. opportunities will arrive suddenly, his work will speak for him rather than he going about aggressively seeking new jobs. He must be passionate about his job, driven to find out more, but in secret. Won’t share much about his job. He too would be a valued employee but for his research oriented mindset and intelligence. This person will gain a lot from his profession. And yes it is the house of legacies, profits from the in-laws, secrets, so its quite possible that marriage would have been a trigger event. The spouse’s horoscope must be strongly supporting this person.

10th lord in 5th will mean a more visible job. more interaction with others, public relations etc. the job changes will be more planned. The person is in control of what he wants to do and will systematically go about it. Opportunities will be created by him moving around, networking etc. This person will be more outgoing about his job, more confident in speaking about things. Maybe he is the one who presents projects etc. must be a valued employee for his confidence and intelligence. However he will sometimes face issues with his bosses as he is more individualistic in nature and may not want to always function as another cog in the system. If he will not get recognition for his work, he will not be happy doing the job.

    Happy Sunday Mam ,

Wow …after a post share on Sun and krutagnyata to Sun ….this post on Moon has some profound clarity bestowed in me !

    Cant thank you enough !

Especially the Rahu_Ketu_Sun_Moon …which i m perceiving as engineers of human soul 🙂

“They are not directly responsible for any manifested results as they always work through other graha”….. for this..if no planets with Rahu Ketu….do they manifest results through nakshatra lord..?

thank you for the compliment 🙂
      yes,
do analyse the nakshtra that they are in, the nakshatra lord, the nakshatra attributes and the planet linked to tht nakshatra will also affect the results they give.
plus if you want to go deeper, you can check the nakshatra pada, ie the navamsha sign of these nodes and see how these work on your potential.

    Namaste Mam,

thanks for guiding us as always. When So-ham helps us to see our thoughts and desires as they come how and become more detached to outcomes, how does this impacts moon’s interaction with Sanchit/Pra-rabdha/Agami Karma and what we have to experience?

      Hi there

Soham and what it does to you is not really within the purview of Jyotish. Its beyond the creation.

If you do your practice regularly then there are going to be some changes in you.
      By ‘regular practice’ I mean
      1. Sitting down for 108 breaths twice a day if you can. This may not be easy for householders like us.
      2. At least, whenever you have some time free, eg even sitting in the bus or when you are cooking or cleaning the house, you mentally recite Soham with your breath. Even if it is just a few repeats it will do its work.

And by changes I mean these
      1. Breathing rate will go down, to 1-2 per min
      2. Health will improve, BP etc will remain in normal levels
      3. Mind will not get agitated.
      4. You will feel more free, more ‘expansive’, kinder, in love, yet more apart from everyone and everything.
      Etc

Soham will stop your mind from thinking and wasting your energy. This does not mean that you get hazed out.
Eg you are sitting in the bus going to office. You look out of the window, see a child walking on the road. You start thinking, about his school uniform, you think that his bag is too heavy for him, he is too young to walk to school alone, then you think his parents are careless. Then you think about your own parents, your childhood pops up before you. You think of your childhood friends. This goes on and on till its time to get out at your bus stop. This cascade of useless thoughts has drained your energy. These 15mins, your mind, Moon has wandered all over time/space. Imagined stuff, made you feel long gone emotions. Wasted your precious pran. Thoughts drain you. Your mind working working exhausts you. You are tired because you think irrelevant thoughts. Moon allocated energy for this frivolous mind game. Soham will stop your Moon/ mind running away and wasting your pran. Ie it will help you be in the Present.

In astrological terms, people who have a strong horoscope, at least the Dharma trikon has to be strong. Only these people have the strength to control their minds and focus on the mantra. Study your sample horoscopes, people with a weak dharma trikon will not be able to do systematic spiritual practice. If you cannot do regular Dhyan and do Soham in the bus, even then it will reduce the impact of your prarabdha karma on you. The effects will be reduced and you will recover faster. It is an all-round remedy for all ‘astrological problems’. Doing Soham in any way with Shraddha will give you control over your Mind ie Moon.

Soham will help you keep your mind steady at the point of physical exit. Ie you will be able to choose the correct Nadi to exit your shell. This will ensure that you choose your next life where you can do better. Our life-time is a preparation for the moment of exit. As the energy of this moment also determines the moment of your next birth. You cannot afford to be scared at these two critical moments. Most people ‘faint’ at these moments. Soham will help you remain aware at these two critical points.

When you use Soham as your mantra, you are training your mind with it. You are controlling your Moon. Mantra means something which makes the Mind aware or conscious. The Mind is your tool. You have to be able to use it. Not let it use you. You will use your Mind as a boat to pass over to the highest. Moon is the Ajnya chakra. Here the Shakti is Haakini, the ‘one who controls’. Doing Soham grants you the power of Haakini.
Moon Mind thought pran change and duality are all different forms of the same energy.
Control it and you reach the Non-dual.
All sadhana starts with controlling your thoughts.

I get questions on this blog like ‘how to open my third eye’ and budding tantriks asking weird questions. I delete these sort of questions. I have recommended the easiest options. Tragedy is that people do not think that it can be as simple as this.
      1. Soham for everything
      2. Gayatri for unlimited energy
      3. Shri Sukta for all problems in life which can be solved by invoking prosperity’.

      So to answer your question
If you do your Soham, you will control your Moon, and thus control your perception of your own Existence. All Karma will be shown to be an illusion and you will realise your Self.

You dissolve your Mind in Soham and then dissolve Soham in your Self.
This is the secret of all sadhana in one line.

      1. anejaspeak Avatar

This comment itself is more insightful than anything else that i read all day today. It is true what you mentioned about the effects of Soham on the mind.Expansive is an appropriate word .. and i could not have thought of a better way to describe the feeling. The feeling of playing a part in a play and watching the play at the same time..
Thank You. May you always have your Guru’s blessings.

        Hi there
        you are welcome 🙂

I simply wrote it in English. “You dissolve your Mind in Soham and then dissolve Soham in your Self”. the Guru-charan are right within you at your third eye. so focus on your Self and do your practice with shraddha.

      Hi there
Astrology is basically Vedic Jyotish. in that there are mainly
      1. Parashari – am writing about this, as this is the basis
      2. Jaimini – if you want to learn this, you should not mix Parashari with it as you will get confused.
      3. Nadi – is a very typical system, perhaps only a few are really experts at it
      4. KP – is a relatively modern system, its concepts are rather differnt. do not mix it with the others.

Could you please throw some light on Atmakaraka and how to work with its energy?

    Thank you!

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there
i do not wish to mix Jaimini and Parashari. these are two different systems.
I do use jaimini, but in this blog i want to write only on Parashari as its the easiest for beginners.
Jaimini is more about predictions. If you have a precise question then it can be more easily answered with jaimini.

but the basic concepts remain the same. eg if your atmakarak is mars then you have to know what he means to you in your chart. which houses he controls, which does he aspect, who all are aspecting him. his navamsha sign, the karakamsha lagna, and all.
but this using Jaiminis principles of aspects, argala, cancellation of argala, etc.
jaimini is a very precise way of looking at things. if you are learning it, you have to practice more rigorously.

also read the books by KN Rao, he has a very clear perspective and has given a lot of examples. Ie books on Chara dasha, Karakamsha and Madook dasha, Sthira dasha etc.

no one is put in ‘jail’. we are all where we are for a reason.

i have written 2 posts on scorpio ascendant
      on rahu/ketu in 2/8 axis
      planets in 12th house
several posts on 12th house, as your asc lord is in 12th
      on the 3rd house
read these posts if you feel like it, use the index page or the search bar

you have to do the gayatri jaap, mentally 108 times at least twice a day. it will resolve things gradually
and if you feel agitated or feel unwanted thoughts in your mind, try to again focus on the Gayatri, a few repeats in your mind.
Put your faith in this mantra as a life time practice.

do shani daan whenever the temples open as your last phase of sade sati is causing more trouble. till then on saturdays pray to shani and request him to be kind to you.

Your articles are very deep and give correct information.

Meanwhile I saw that I have been under Moon mahadasa and Rahu antardasa from March this year so it is going to be more trauma since it is grahan yoga

and especially because I have weak sun( atmabal),

heavily afflicted ascendant lord Mars( vitality)

and Heavily afflicted Mercury(intelligence) coupled with sadesati.

Such combinations in horoscope eventually lead a person to ‘give up’ in life to circumstances and one retires into forest at young age to practice sadhana and become a sanyasi.

      2. astrologerbydefault Avatar

        Hi there
you ‘give up’ or not that is your decision
but i have seen that side of ‘spiritual business’ too, so i would never ever advise anyone to leave the society and take formal sanyas.
so i would advise you to stay at your home, do your sadhana here itself.
and do your gayatri puja, it will show you the way

The moon and the inner inquisitiveness continues with this article, Ma’am.

I have co-related these insights with kaal chakra dasha (your article) and ashtakvarga.

    Three points;
    1. Now, my jiva is Saggitarius and Deh is Aries (Ashlesha pada 1).
    2. Mars is vargottama for me across all divisional charts sitting in Aries. In D-1 it sits in the 9 house alongwith ketu.
    3. But as per my Ashtakvarga points, mars in aries has only 2 points which is almost negative. Since its vargottama, it doesn’t get elevated or degraded by changing signs in other chart.

Now, does that mean its weak to give physical results? Its mahadasha or transit/prayantardasha will not be favourable? Will it affect my deh or physical body adversely. What can be its correct interpretation?

    ———— on another note, Ma’am———–

I have been reading your blog regularly and its captivating. Reading through so many pages of your blog, karmic implications and patterns are fascinating.

Since we are all here for fulfilling our prarabdh karma majorly, where does marriage or vivah sanskar falls into?
Is it a fresh karma that we create or its decided from last life – the person we would marry?

Especially Ma’am if there are planets in partnership house or they are in retrograde/debilitated. Like you mentioned in few of your articles retrograde planets are always a source of confusion and there is a strong karmic lesson for sure wherever they are placed.

But then why do people worry so much internally and put their mind agent into work – look for rishtas, sites etc. When its decided who we would be marrying because technically it will be the longest karmic lesson we would ever fulfill. Isn’t it set and we just have to do our duty. It should just come into our life on its own without we or parents looking for it!

Please throw some light and if possible another interesting article on unpredictable results of retrograde planets and why its unpredictable for a lot. I know you have written a lot but I read Mr. Shakti singh also even he says you can go wrong/ repetitive with such planets especially in kendras.

Thank you. Look forward to your response mam

      Hi there
I do not really understand your question, but

I assume you have calculated everything currently.

Vargottam Mars in several charts means that your Mars qualities are very deeply rooted, ie your mars in d1 has enormous reserves of power which he will use during the appropriate dasha/transit to give his results. All those charts in which he is vargottam will give powerful results. Eg D-10 profession, vargottam mars will add his power to your professional activities.

In this, Ashtakvarga mars 2 in the Rashi he occupies at birth. This means that the results he gives may not be directly favourable to you.
Eg you may get a promotion but stress makes you short-tempered, gives BP issues. This will be enhanced whenever he transits over his birth sign. If in the other signs score for Mars is 4+, you will not lose your temper so much during these transits .

For vimshottari, mars mahadasha. You will get several opportunities in the areas of life indicated by Mars, but you must also be careful not to over do it.

For kaalchakra, as you are reading Shakti mohan Singhs book, I think he has explained the concept of ‘deh’ and ‘jiv’ very beautifully. Its related to the quantum and quality of change in these signs dasha periods.

Vivah Sanskar is compulsory for everyone. Only if you take sanyas its not needed.
In today’s time sanyas can be a formal one where one really leaves the society and goes to a Math or Ashram. But it can also be a total dedication to a spiritual practice and a internal commitment to follow it as a single minded path. Either way, Sanyas is a tough path as it indicates Saturn’s influence on the life in a major way.

If you have read Shakti mohan Singhs book, he narrates a fascinating story about a 6yr old boy winning a doll as a marriage event from a jyotish point of view.
In life there are several possibilities for marriage to occur. But the combinations are strong only 1-2 times in life to create an actual physical marriage.

Marriage is decided at the moment of birth as the rest of the chart. You decide how you want to find your spouse. If the 7th lord is favourable or in the 1/7/4/10 houses then you will meet your spouse without much trouble. ie he will just walk into your life. But if he is not very favourably placed then you will have to make efforts to find him.
Technically as per the Hindu social structure, it is the responsibility of your parents to find a spouse for you, not yours.
In todays times, marriages is a very typical topic. One marriage is definitely a karmic event. Or death of a spouse and remarriage is also karma from the past. But extra-marital or pre-marital affairs, multiple spouses at the same time, etc are most likely an increase in karmic bindings.

Each horoscope is unique, so one post does not apply 100% to all. I can write only so much.
But I always emphasise that students must practice. Observe your study samples, observe your own life. Only then you can predict anything with confidence. But even then there can never be a 100% accurate prediction.

What if a family member has blocked your marriage from happening through black magic? Could the soul have chosen such a difficult experience, considering that the victim deeply desired to get married? In few past lives different persons did not allow the victim to get married- in one past life the victim was killed for trying to get married. What could be the soul’s lesson in all this?

Thanks for the insights. I’ve learnt so much from this page.

    Can you help me this?

I’m a Libra ascendant with moon in 12th house. In d9, I’m a pisces ascendant with moon in 3rd house. How should I go about using this aspects in my daily life? I usually end up being very self-critical.

Any kind of practices, or lifestyle changes to help take these positions in the positive side of experiencing life purpose? In short, how to use these to the fullest potential?

Thank you so very much mam!

      Hi there
i have written several posts on Libra ascendants. i think 5-6 ,
plus a lot on the 12th house and the planets in it.
wrote a post on moon in earthy signs and one on birth moon in virgo.
do use the index page, read them if you feel like it.
a lot of things will be clear to you about yourself.

libra asc are bound to balance, they cannot bear it if things are out of balance by even a bit.
and virgo moon in 12th house means tht over-analysis, harping on tiny details, which probably no one even sees. plus lack of emotional support. lack of rest, real sleep is denied, nutrition is affected etc.

I recommend only three things on the mantra level
Soham – ideally its twice a day for 108 breaths but if you do not have time do a few repeats with your breath whenver you feel stressed, this relaxes the mind, stops it from thinking , it will help your virgo moon in a big way.
gayatri mantra is compulsory, it triggers the energy of the 9th house and gives an endless supply of energy.
and Shri sukta if you can recite or listen to twice a day, will bring all sorts of prosperity.
if you cannot give yourself time to do these things separately , do them whenver and whever you can.
it will resolve things for you.

i have written a lot on other things, use the index page or space bar , choose whichever you have time for as per your lifestyle

Ma’am..I know atleast of two charts ( both of doctors) who had their birth charts ” tweaked” in order to make it acceptable for marriage during the proposal rounds.
Ironically both the individuals marriage did not sustain. One wanted to change because people were apparently rejecting her horoscope because of Venus ketu conjunction in 7 th .( And also because she got older and they wanted to reduce her age by a year or so). Despite me suggesting my relative it’s better to not get into a relationship with a lie,the family went ahead ,and her husband turned out be rather strange person who would spend weeks without exchanging a word with her or interacting with her and now she’s back at her mother’s place with child in tow.
The second chart is of a man whose family changed his chart ( chart originally had mars Saturn in 8 th house virgo and Venus Mercury 12 the house and rahu 5 th house.) His birth year was changed by two years by his family at his marriage time and entire mahurat of marriage etc all decided on that. When my aquaintance ( his wife) went to stay with him she found the original horoscope with above placements in his house.needless to say, there were multiple other women besides her in the marriage along with domestic violence and she too had to leave .
Marriage is essential karma for most but some entrap themselves a bit more than others too.
Why people want to ” fudge” horoscopes is beyond me. Either believe in the science or don’t ,thats individual perspective, but why try to play with it?

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there
faking the horoscope does not change the enrgy of the life. but i have seen several people do this. Deceiving some one that too fr a marriage proposal is very bad karma.
but strange is that the other party did not get the entire chart checked, its very easy to check if the horoscope is fake .
and today astrologers just open the software and input the dates to see if they match, they do not sit and analyse them.

and when the solution for finding a proper spouse is so easy.
Shri Sukta is the remedy for all these sort of problems. there are more, but this is the easiest simplest, non-controversial and frankly people think Devi Laxmi gives money so are very eager to do it.
but yes i have seen over smart people too who think it is too easy, they want complicted pujas and vrat-s ..

    Hello Ma’am,
I have a question regarding Leo ascendant post. I have leo in my first house. According to the post and from my extremely limited knowledge about astrology, there is hardly any chance of leo asc having a even mildly happy married life. Is there any remedy for it? I read in the post that Dhyan is important, but that is for self. Is there any way to make the marriage side of things a bit better?

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there

just having a leo ascendant does not mean a bad marriage!
it just means that you are an individualistic independent person and may not feel very comfortable if you are always bound to the spouse and children. you need your space.

and one position does not mean a reading.. it can indicate a tendency but to make it real there should be at least 3 or more similar patterns.
you will have to see the power of your 7th lord, 9th lord 5th lord,
and most importantly your spouses and your horoscope matching.
if this is compatible then the marriage will be a success.
i know several Leo ascendants who have wonderful marriages.

and for any problems in marriage the perfect solution is Shri-sukta. in fact you can recite /listen to it twice a day, it can be a life time thing. as it will set right all issues related to marriage, children, money, status etc ‘prosperity in all ways’

Thank you for such a detailed and informative article! I always look forward to your posts 🙂

I did have a question for clarification. Can you please elaborate on this statement:

“But if the chart is on a higher evolutionary level (post here) only then will these desires be converted to needs. For this the active power of the Moon is essential”

I did read the linked article a few times and still cant seem to connect this. I believe this the relevant section from the linked article:

“Every force in your chart will try to destroy the materialistic tendencies and pull the soul towards the spiritual. And the Mind’s materialistic tendencies will fight them, there will be deep unrest within. This turmoil will ultimately resolve all the doubts of the Mind, and make it constant and steady. Unless Rahu/ Ketu give their blessings the soul cannot progress.”

Does this mean that if our desires (rahu) turns into needs, and if we are able to successfully fight against this materialistic urge created by the moon and rahu conjunction, only then can we progress spiritually?

My reasons for asking are a bit selfish- I have my moon, rahu, sun, and retrograde venus (my ascendant) all conjunct in my forth house (capricorn).

I live in the US and the pundits here always have a difficult time properly interpreting my chart so I am trying to learn myself. My chart consists of 7 planets between 2 houses ( the four planets above; mars, mercury, and saturn in the 3rd house and jupiter in the 9th) So all but one planet (ketu) is either conjunct/aspected by saturn or in saturn’s control. The conjunctions and aspects make interpreting all this quite confusing.

Your posts have all been immensely helpful while I have been trying to learn. I just wanted to let you know that these posts have been absolutely invaluable to me are so very much appreciated. Many thanks and Happy sunday!

    Hi Ma’am,

Lovely post as always! I have a request ma’am while trying to make sense of all your insights available to us.

I have read few available books online, forums but no astrologer or even good senior practitioner is sure about implications of Retrograde planets.

For ex; my brother’s chart has the following

    Saturn (R) – 7 house; capricorn.
    Mercury- lagna; cancer

Venus being karaka for males/females is conjunct with jupiter and sun in leo. Not a favourable place. No aspect of venus in 7th house.

If we go by bhav chalit, which actually gives correct benefits of a planet in houses

Saturn(R) in 7th house is being aspected by mercury and sun in lagna, now.
    – both mercury and sun in cancer are uncomfortable and mercury being 12th lord is malefic; saturn is also aspecting it from 7 house. Sun’s aspect on saturn or 7 house is not considered good.

This saturn, 7 lord moves to 6 house in D-9 and venus goes to 8 conjunct with moon (lord)

I see three patterns of unfavorable marriage and even career house has aspect from saturn in 7 house. But no astrologer gave sure shot reply. They all said its confusing. Can’t really say when we are not sure. No guess games. Issue is this retro planet in 7 house!!!!

How to judge behaviour of retrograde saturn, here mam? Not much is available. No real case studies. They only say ‘unusual’ ‘repeat’ and delay. Anyway these days who gets married early. Males settle around 29/30 only.

Can you please help me make sense mam? Also would love to read your article on distinct case studies or insights on retros affecting vivah sanskar or career

Love what you do!!!!! Will miss the day you stop writing or being available 😃

      Hi there
if he is working for someone, ie service then mainly 10th and 6th houses but if doing business then also see 7th and 2nd for the money flow.
this person has a very good 2nd house so will be quite successful eventually. money will never be a problem in his life.

for marriage – 7th lord in 7th it will give a good marriage. venus jupiter are in the 2nd house so will help by reducing the delay and increase auspiciousness of the marriage event. also the partner and family life will be good.
you can look for marriage proposals in your extended family/friend circle. often the partner is right in front of you.. but it often takes some time to identify her.
mercury in asc sign can cause physical illnesses.
Sun in asc or even in 2nd hosue is favourable fr both marriage and profession.
the marrige will be in early to mid 30s and all will be well.
retrograde saturn in his own house gains more power.

        Thank you mam.
So my analysis of bad marriage or delay is wrong.

Though wealth and education has been too good of his but karaka of marriage is conjunct with enemies and its not that strong in shadbala.

Mam does events like sade sati also gets affected if ketu mahadasha is going on and especially if saturn is retro in 7 house like in his chart?

He is going through ketu MD and in a year it will be ketu-rahu dasha for a year. Sade sati will also come (as per your article i calculated through ashtakvarga) aquarius will be inauspicious whereas pisces and aries fared above 30 points. But ketu mahadasha is confusing me.

Point being retro saturn how the energies work during sade sati especially with chesta bala and in kendra with dig bala. Do suggest your thoughts mam. Will be really nice

      2. astrologerbydefault Avatar

        Hi there
The 2nd house is the kutumbh sthan , with these planets in it all will b well
often a karmic marriage partner comes in the rahu or ketu dasha, if they are strongly placed and auspicious.
and i understand being worried for a brother, but there is no need to over-analyse,
best ask your parents to look for proposals and he should marry after checking the horoscopes
marraige is not just one person , there are two , so the spouse’s chart is equally important.

do the pujas of the planet on their days, mars would be tuesday

Sun, Venus and jupiter in leo second house. The house is also maraka alongwith wealth, family life etc.

From moon it is in 6/8 axis which you say is uncomfortable. So rather than good wealth and family life, is the karma more about maya, here?

How can we interpret karma in physical world from planets placement.

        Hi,

That’s one insightful , experienced, beautiful explanation..
        Thank you …

        I hv 2 questions..

        1. I hv learnt from someone that,
To get the good results from the
Mantras the body has to be in a
        position to receive the good
        effects of it.. right. ?
Like u want to store clean water
for drinking , the vessel has to be
        clean..
        If by birth someone has
deformed parts , (hole in heart,
Polio, six fingers, no fingers etc)
        or hereditary diseases which
        keep on disturbing the mind,
n overall bad results keep on
        coming into ur life…
Isn’t it obvious that we should
        get that physical part right
        before going for astro remedy.

. Can we know the precise reason
for the disease , the parts which
can be affected , the timing of
the disease etc by birth chart, or
        D6 etc

        2. Is there a solution or some sort
of help in astrology , panchang,
which helps in reducing the ill
effects on the body of the child
        while giving birth..
( I heard some garbha sanskara
        something which will help )
        Is that correct ?

Because , if mind n body are interdependent .. we should focus on getting the body correct before going for mind things right. ?

The question is naive , but isn’t the logic correct…

        Thank you

      4. astrologerbydefault Avatar

        Hi there

so how do you clean your vessel? you have to wash it first with clean water? or you ‘give away’ the dirt in your vessel?
is there a third way? These are the two remedies Mantra and Daan.
if you feel that your vessel is very dirty then do both the remedies with full intensity.
initially the mantra will wash you clean only then you start storing their power.
the initial step is often very difficult so several people leave their sadhana in these earlier phases.

physical deformity is linked to afflictions in the horoscope, some will have this
but we all are ‘deformed’ on the mental levels to some extent. it ‘manasik vikar’ are the root cause of ‘avidya’.

        https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2019/02/24/medical-diagnosis-in-astrology/

so do not think on the deformities so much, do not think on what you do not want rather think on what you want.
        focus on your mantra.

Garbha dharan sanskar is essential, its one of the compulsory 16 sanskar. i have mentioned this in my several posts where i have written on babies and pregnancy.
        eg https://psychologicallyastrology.com/2021/02/14/your-birth-chart-and-your-birth/
garbhadharan done before conception. then seemnatonayan and pumsavan are 2 more sanskar during pregnancy. if you do this the babies will be healthy. plus there are several more sanskars in early life do them in sequence for your baby to ensure auspiciousness.
The 16 sanskar are very critical as they ensure a life time of auspiciousness.

Your post made me look at things a little more holistically. But if I make Moon the lagna (I am over 48), the chart changes, the aspects remains but everything looks different.

what you describe is not a bad position per se. but yes you must have a lot going on, thoughts, activities, people etc
if rahu is well placed then this can even be a good mahadasha..

Thank you much, as always, for such an insightful post, Tejaswini ji!🙏

Have a general doubt about horoscope of kids/teenagers… at what point of time/age, normally the natives are expected to follow destiny/exercise free will? For eg. a kid in mid teens with a ‘karma yoni’ horoscope, is he/she expected to make choices as early as in school days? How effective would they be, if they are under influence of teen juvenile behavior (as common as any teenager out there)? Would it have as normal repercussions as would be taken in adulthood?

Also, a very common question similar to which came first … chicken or egg/ tree or seed..🙂
When we say free will, isn’t that also pre determined /destined by the Supreme Self? Just as that ‘Vastu’ is beyond time & space, there isn’t a future or past but just ‘Present’… just as Bhagavata Sri Krishna’s Vishwaroopam showing the kouravas getting annihilated…. so why do we call it a ‘free will’? Have been having this question for a long time.. would love to hear your take on that..🙏😊

    Mam,

How much free-will do we have in life? People who don’t believe in astrology or matching charts?

For example; arya samaji families. They just see physical aspects, people’s behaviour and marry. My parents say ‘the more you get into astrology and knowing things; then there is no end to it…..

you will ruin your present also by knowing things.

They didn’t even keep our names by any birth or nakshatra basis but we are doing okay in life and these dasha and transits when I try to see my family charts to learn haven’t impacted us to any extreme levels as such. Infact, my siblings say we don’t even feel it. Things go wrong but you just keep going and something or other will come up

    What I want to understand is;

    1. Is our collective karma as family good or decent that we rarely feel jolts or trembles?
    2. How much free will do people have when they choose a life partner? I read above comments, you say its big dharmic act and pre-decided then where’s the free will?

And if there is, how to know from charts which house or planet or dasha we have free will upon.

Like my sister is mentally ready for marriage and ageing by standards but there is no prospect and we never know when and if it will happen so it does worry parents and they say maybe time is not right or destiny etc. But who knows and how to know

families like this who have genuine ‘shraddha’ in something and try to live their lives in a Dharmic and transparent manner, the members of such families will have a strong 9th house.
if the 9th house is strong, all issues in life are smoothed over.
      its a good thing.

everyone has some level of free will. quantum depends on the chart. these posts may help.

fr life partner. on karmic levels, i think there will be 2 – 3 times in life when you will feel the pull to marry a specific someone. i believe that there is a small but significant free will in this too. if you choose to marry or not.

In Hindu-s as per Dharma, its primarily the responsibility of the parents to find a spouse for their child at the right age. if they do not do it then the child can take his/her own decision in this matter. more so if he/she has crossed 28yrs.

    Hello Mam,

How good and accurate are jaimini and KP system as per what you have seen in the community?

I have got important readings done by a senior south astrologer who has followed these in his reports. I have never seen any north or vedic- parashari give written reports or timeline. I am shocked and also doubtful since have never heard these ways.

    ‘KP new ayanamsha’
‘KN Rao Phalit or chara dasha’
    Karakas as per jamini rules.

Some people say KP is bogus. Also, you cannot predict things accurately at all that too small timelines.

Can you please guide and tell?

      Hi there
i primarily use Parashari. and separately use Jaimini to cross-check the parashari readings if there is a life/death sort of prediction coming up.

but you cannot mix parashari and jaimini concepts, this is why i never write on Jaimini in this blog.
most readers are students and i do not wish to confuse them.

Parashari is easier as we at least have the BPHS in its entirety and lots of people have worked and written on it.
for students there are more books more perspectives more readings to refer.

Jaimini sutra are available, but there are fewer authors writing on them in a reasonable and practical manner.
if you wish to learn jaimini, forget parashari for some time, find a good teacher and practice. It is an accurate system

KP, i read some books and experimented with it but i have not studied it in detail. if you feel like it give it a try.
readings depend on the astrologer doing the reading.

some astrologers give a written life report. its tedious and requires a understanding of dasha/transit and going so far in the future.
i have seen these sort of life reports which my clients used to bring to me for a second opinion. most of them were generated by software.
but if your astrologer has done them by hand then they would perhaps be accurate, as doing them like this requires a lot of experience.

point is it may be KP or jaimini or parashari, check if the astrloger has correctly told you some past event in your life. eg if you fell seriously ill in your childhood, or something significant. or if you have any birthmark on your body, if he can tell you its location or something. if he can do this then he can accurately predict your future too.

Mam so just for your guidance

        1. KP astrologer gave only different charts as pdf but two years reading/ current mahadasha readings in detail only. Not software one for life.

Since his readings came in email with only software charts attached and two shlokas and he is senior so I politely clarified how sure he is on date-wise segment prediction. He said he knows lot of methods by now. He might not necessarily tell me everything but he has confirmed through two three methods and took three days to come back.

        2. To confirm his readings, I went with a senior teacher and astrologer who follows parashari and jaimini methods. I never asked about past as sometimes they take on ego.

This astrologer did confirm ‘yog’ and possibilities. Like, chances of abroad settlement being say a 65%. If looking for males, yog is strong for marriage else will be delayed. But not like KP person who literally said

This time you will marry. Job will change but you will marry. Husband will help in business and foreign what not. Busy with visa preparation etc.

Now, if I am neither applying for any course outside nor there are any prospects who are settled abroad how will the yog help.

But the parashari astrologer did warn me of a future karma, could guess my salary with a negligible difference and say with confidence of next increment

And he even could say which country I will be displaced to like kms!!!

Mostly people just say foreign or chances. Though I am yet to see how this strong displacement and yogs will work cus I am not planning anything soon.

Hence asking you. Does it sound like coming from learned people or just fooling around? It’s so difficult to find right guru or trusted reader.

I want to learn jaimini because KN Rao sir have been endorsing it even at research levels but KP, see above:)

Thank you Ma’am, I went through the linked article. Makes total sense..🙏

Yes, 18 – 63 mentions on the choice of a soul for ‘free will’ and interestingly enough the following slokas 18-65 & 18-66 (one of the most important slokas of BG), Bhagavan out of compassion, reveals the best choice for Arjuna. Also in 11-33, Sri Krishna says to Arjuna to become an instrument of that Ultimate Brahman, devoid of self ego. Several other famous slokas like 9-22,12-6,12-7 (& 12- 8 through 11), 14-26&27 … aren’t they all the subtle yet clear mention on the ‘Ultimate Grace of that Ultimate Supreme Brahman’ (Advaita) on the soul to make the choice of his/her ‘free will’?

May that Parambrahma’s grace shower on all of us to realize our true Self this life itself🙏🙏🙏
