Layers of Sanskrit

Last Updated on December 1, 2021 by astrologerbydefault

Devbhasha Samskrutam aka Sanskrit is the original language of this universe. It derives from OM, the seed of this universe we exist in. Rishi Panini ‘saw’ its grammar from Akash and wrote it. Sanskrit is linked to your DNA and is the perfectly arranged language of Light. It cannot be translated as there is nothing you can translate it to. And just because someone has learnt to read/ write it, does not mean that he has understood the texts of Sanatan Dharma or its texts, Sanskrit has layers and layers.

A simple example. There is this very common Sanskrit shlok in the praise of Shri Ganapati,

अगजानन पद्मार्कं गजाननं अहर्निशम् अनेकदंतं भक्तानां एकदन्तं उपास्महे ॥ ॐ

OM Agajanana padmarkam, Gajananam aharnisham, anek dantam bhaktanam, ek dantam upasmahe OM

It is generally translated as ‘Ganapati is the beloved son of Devi Parvati. Her face lights up with love for him and thus that radiance falls on him. Similarly the blessings of Ganapati fall on his many devotees who worship him with devotion.’

The pictures I have put in this post are of the soft-grey colored Shri Dhoomraketu Ganapati. This is his form in the current Kaliyug. He destroys the Ahamkara, self-ego, sense of individual ego and thus grants Moksh.

www.psychologicallyastrology.com

And this shlok also means this,

Om – is the seed of this universe, the pranav-mantra.

Agajaa would mean ‘the child of the mountain’, ie the Kundalini rests on the highest energy point of the Mooladhar chakra which is linked to the Pruthvi tattva. Kundalini or Devi Shakti is also called Parvati, the daughter of the mountain/ Parvat Himalaya.

Anan means face, access, door, entrance and its also indicates non-movement, non-animation etc. The Kundalini at rest is the Agajaa-annan. She rests/ sleeps with her ‘face’ blocking the entrance of the Sushumna.

Padma as I have mentioned in an earlier post, is the conscious energy of time-space and the rest of the dimensions. It also means lotus, chakras, a serpent, sinous movement, an elephant with its massiveness and can also indicate a complete merging.

Arka is the light of the internal sun of self-awareness experienced at the end of the twelve chakras, at the Dwadashanat. The ‘Light of the Self’.

Gaj-anan is the opening of the Sushumna located at the Mooladhar chakra. I have mentioned somewhere that Gajanan/ Ganapati is the deity whose permission is necessary for gaining access to the Sushumna. (Deity means conscious intelligence, there is no classical ‘god’ in Sanantan Dharma)

Gaja is earth tattva, the foundation from which the Kundalini will make her move. Or also the solidity, steadiness of your spiritual practice.

Aharnisham means continuously, constantly, steadily, day/ night. But it also means the illusion of the individual soul/ Jivatma being separate from the Parabrahma.

Anek-dantam-bhaktanam is ‘a separated point’. The best way I can describe this is something like the school physics experiment of interference of light waves. A single point is viewed as being divided into multiple points. The same point is ‘divided’ into many. How can a point be divided? Ask your physics teacher if he can explain. Or ask a quantum scientist and be amazed when he speaks of Sanatan Dharma.

Ek-danta means one single point or focussed concentration or the Ultimate realisation. Or the original point which is perceived as ‘a separated point’. The non-dual Advaita which is perceived as multiplicity.

Upasmahe is the verb, the past perfect tense of Upasna. This word has several meanings, but the most interesting meaning is to throw off, or to remove firmly. So this will mean the action of removing the illusion of the multiple points from the one single point. It is in the past perfect tense of the verb. So this action has already been completed. A paradox.

So this simple seeming shlok/ verse has completely different hidden depths. A real genuine Guru would be able to add more meanings and perhaps also grant the experience of this Shloka. See what you make of it?

So to address the question that someone asked me.

How genuine are the translated Sanskrit works? The answer is that someone understands something as per his level of understanding. And understanding depends on the level of experience. And experiencing Devbhasha Sanskrutam requires contemplation. You have to do continuous Dhyan over it to experience it. eg When you are doing your Dhyan with the ‘Soham’ mantra you are experiencing, understanding it. More you meditate on Sanskrit more deeply will you experience/understand it. Sanskrit is a palimpsest, layers and layers of meanings. So if you choose to read a translated book, choose after evaluating the translator well. And at least read the original Sanskrit shlokas/text if you can.

what should we do if someone olltreat and trample us ..should we take it as destruction of ego?or how canwe destruct our own ego any way otger than trampled by life incidents?

      Hi there
if someone is ill treating you then you should act/react as is necessary to preserve/protect yourself. the laws of the land, the inner laws of moral/ethical conduct etc exist.
destruction of your ego is possible only when you destroy it yourself through spiritual practice, there is no other way of destroying it.
your ego will not get destroyed if others ill-treat you!

I checked all charts, from d-1 to d-11, for every minute with +5/-5 minutes to my birth time. No change in sign and house for planets, except d-10.

So can I consider divisional charts even if accurate time is not confirmed?

    1. astrologerbydefault Avatar

      Hi there
cross check them with the life incidents if they match

    Hi Tejaswini,

It’s a really fresh and introspection-centric perspective with which you approach Vedic Astrology. Thanks for this interpretation of the Ganpati verse.

I would like to know from you about the classical meaning of when the lunar nodes are on the 1-7 Axis (just Rahu in Libra Asc, Ketu in 7H Aries – Venus is in Taurus with Mercury and Mars is in Leo) in the natal chart, and at the same time, in the Navamsa, the axis is reversed (7-1 Axis – Ketu in Gemini rising Navamsa in conjunction with Venus and Mercury while Rahu is in Sagittarius in 7H of Navamsa and Jupiter retrograde conjunct with Sun in Scorpio in 6H of Navamsa).

What does one essentially understand from this axis reversal?

TIA for addressing the query. I always look forward to your blog posts. 🙂

      Hi there
i have written a few posts on navamsha analysis, do locate the index page to locate them
i have not yet written on Rahu-Ketu in the 1/7 axis though.
the D9 is the inner expectation of the D1
so try to match the keywords of the houses, signs and the grahas and see if you can

Namaste mam, many thanks for the knowledge you impart.
I had a personal request, in my navamsha as well as the D1, the moon is influenced by shani via conjunction or aspect and the effects of this (with your articles and introspection) I have been able to notice in my behavior, emotions, and my expectations in life. I wish to heal myself, I no longer wish to be stuck in rigid, unforgiving rules, unable to accept or believe that people love me. I understand now that discipline and soberness is important in life, but not in the domain of love and emotions. I wish to be disciplined while being kind on myself. Please suggest what is to be done to move forward in this direction. 🙏

      Hi there
Awareness/ realisation is the most important thing.
Now that you are aware of what needs to change things will change.
You can try praying to Shani to help you.
Do something which will strengthen the Moon.
Remember them on their days with gratitude because you have understood the lesson they were trying to teach you.
Try to b aware of your behaviour woth your loved ones.
Be kind to others esp older parents/grandparents.
If you are afraid of something within you understand it and let go.
Things will change gradually for you too.

Maam please answer if your time permits. In your article on marriage, you had mentioned how the 7 th house is our mirror image.
If someone chooses to not marry for spiritual or whatever reason, would that affect the chart in other areas?

You have mentioned that in case of multiple marriages, 7 th house, then 2 nd house, 9 th house, etc progressive getting activated with each marriage. If a person retains multiple spouses, do all the houses pertaining to spouse and spouse number get activated?

Lastly when a marriage ends, either with abandoning or divorce, does that end the significations of spouse( corresponding to spouse number 1 or 2 or 3 etc) in that couples chart?

Sorry for the lengthy question . But thanks in advance maam.

      Hi there
Do read about the concept of Bhavat Bhavam, use the search bar and index page as i have written about it in several posts, eg a stand alone bhvat bhavam post, also discussed it in the cancer ascendant post and elsewhere.
the 7th is the only BB for the 1st and the 4th and 10th have the 7th as their BB, that is how you power the chart with your energies from the 1st house.

the 7th in addition to marriage is also the house of equitable love, refined love, self-love, fairness, balanced love etc which can come only with spiritual practice. you learn to first find yourself and then to love yourself
initally you search for yourself in someone else, it is about validation, later you search for validation within your own self

a strong 7th house in a spiritually inclined horoscope will make sure that you do your spiritual practice
a strong 7th house in a materially oriented chart will give you a nice spouse and a comfortable life
one option is not better/worse than the other, they just are

if you marry multiple spouses, the other houses get ‘activated’ in the sense that this new spouse has to be seen from this next house. when you marry several times you divert the energies of this next house into relationships with another human.
the energies of a house are not unlimited so use them appropriately

in Jyotish there is no concept of divorce. as long as both of you are alive the energies remain linked.
only way of breaking them is by physical death or by sanyas of either of the two.

Thank you for clearing that up for I had wondered if a person chose to remain celibate/ unmarried , whether the 4 th and 10 th house would get affected negatively. It’s true about not looking for validation in somebody else. Spiritual practise does remove the need for external validation 🙏

    Hello maam..
Maam, as diwali is arriving and you have already told about dhanvatri homa to be done on dhanteras and I will be doing it.

I have been doing homas advised by you for weak planet remedies and they have shown extraordinarily results on emotional, physical, spiritual and mental front.
I love doing sandhyavandan as well. It feels amazing to be connected with divine and to our ancient rituals.

Can you please tell how and what homa or ritual we can do on diwali?
(I stay away from my family for study and job reasons so i dont know exactly what is being done)

    Thankyou 🙂🙂

      Hi there
Good that you are balancing your own energies, this is the real use of Jyotish.. Self-illumination
Diwali amavasya is the day for Devi pujas
most people do Laxmipujan and bengalis do Kalipujas.
you can do puja, arti, jaap etc of any Devi mantra you feel drawn to, Shri Sukta is always there, Devi Mahatmya, etc are all possible
evening twilight is the time to do the puja.
