Am sure you must have thought that the title to be misleading. Rahu/ Ketu, the nodes of the Moon, are considered to be malefics, shadow planets, over-reaching or detaching forces. How can they be even considered to be benefics, leave alone Yogkarak /the biggest benefics of the chart?
Personally I give Rahu/Ketu considerable weightage in the chart. Unless I know what attracts a client and what fails to move him, I cannot counsel him. While interpreting Rahu/ Ketu always remember that they give their results by blending their nature with the planet they are with and the house that they are placed in. If the house that they are placed in is strong they will give good results. And they will amplify the results of the planet they are with. If they are placed alone, without any benefic influence, they can make you suffer on the material front but give you gains on the spiritual front. Under benefic influences they can make you a king or grant you moksh.
I think all planets malefic or benefic or whatever, all will benefit on the spiritual front. But we are so materially oriented that we do not register these benefits. So a ‘good’ or a ‘bad result is applicable only to the material side of life.
So here are very simple three rules which confer extraordinary benefic nature on these two astral forces, i.e. they become practically Yogkarak. So,
- If Rahu or Ketu are placed in the houses 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th (Kendra houses) with the lords of the 5th or the 9th (Kona houses).
- If Rahu or Ketu are placed in the 5th or the 9th houses, with the lords of the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th houses.
- If Rahu or Ketu are placed in the the 5th or the 9th houses, with the lords of the the 5th or the 9th houses, then Rahu and Ketu will behave as Yogkarak. (These rules work even if only one of them ie Rahu or Ketu are conjunct these other planets.)
And then here are some more placements to help you analyse your Rahu/Ketu.
If Rahu or Ketu are placed conjunct with other planets in a house then,
- If in the 5th or 9th house with the lord of the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th houses = practically Yogkarak
- If in the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th houses with the lord of the 5th or 9th houses = practically Yogkarak
- In the 3rd, 6th or 11th houses with the lords of 3rd, 6th or 11th houses = not good
- If in the 8th house with the lord of the 8th house = good
- If in the 2nd or 7th house with the lords of 2nd or 7th house = Marak
- If in the 12th house with the lord of 12th house = average
This above was if Rahu or Ketu were conjunct with other planets to influence them.
But sometimes they are placed alone in a house. So if Rahu/Ketu are placed alone in a house and neither aspected by anyone else.
- If in the 5th or 9th house = good
- If in the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house = average
- In the 3rd, 6th or 11th house = not good
- If in the 12th house = average
- If in the 8th (or anywhere in the chart with the lord of the 8th)= bad results
The planets are all not alive in the physical sense, but they are very much conscious and active on the spiritual, causal and astral planes of existence. Rahu and Ketu are completely astral graha, all their lessons are linked to the inner worlds. They operate on the level of pure consciousness and their lessons are always beneficial on the spiritual planes. But as we all are quite materialistic these days, we do not appreciate them nor their gifts. They are the link between the Moon, the Sun with Life on Earth, Us! They make life happen. Do analyse your Rahu/ Ketu deeply to make more sense of the life you live.

Yes, Rahu is practically Yogkarak for me….i was born in Rahu dasha. Since Shani is my main Yogakarak whatever i have got was in my Shani dasha be it job, marriage or child…each during the antardasha of the planet signifying/influencing the area eg. I had my child when running the mahadasha of Shani and Antardasha of Rahu. But since Shani is in the house of loss….i never got joy/happiness from any of the areas. All of them have led me to the spiritual side of life.

if Shani is your main yogkarak planet and if he is in the 12th house he will give you a big boost on the spiritual planes, the 12th house is also a very misunderstood house..
If you feel ‘joyless’ or ‘unloved’, you can on any saturday twilight, light a oil deepak for Shani and request him to bring you internal joy/love..be sincere about it, he will do it, you might get dreams or some signal/omen after this..
Taurus and Libra asc folk are actually loved by Shani..
Rahu expands/amplify. So what if he is with debilitated planet like rahu+Venus in Virgo, rahu+Mars in cancer etc?

Rahu is more like the direction to your life, an uncontrolled desire, rather than just expansion/amplification, expansion is more Jupiters job
if Rahu is with a debilitated planet naturally the characteristics of that planet will be the driving force in your life, this will cause issues unless there are some benefic influences to balance out things..
maturity for rahu and that planet will come in the late 40’s so by then there can be considerable harm caused by Rahus desire + debilitated planet behaviour
eg Rahu+debi Venus will make this person more quarrelsome or liable to cheat others, can cause problems in marriage too, in such cases best option would be to do something which harnesses these energies proactively, eg become a lawyer where you have to quarrel as a profession..

Namaste mam. Want to clarify few things in the 3 rules you have mentioned. Please Bear with me n Forgive me for bothering you again n again. Always confused no matter how lucidly you explain things.
2.If Rahu or Ketu are placed in the 5th or the 9th houses, with the lords of the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th houses.
Here can it be with the Lord’s of any of the 1/4/7/10 or you are saying: 1st,4th is mandatory including either of 7th/10th ?
3.If Rahu or Ketu are placed in the the 5th or the 9th houses, with the lords of the the 5th or the 9th houses, then Rahu and Ketu will behave as Yogkarak. (These rules work even if only one of them ie Rahu or Ketu are conjunct these other planets.)
I did not get the things you mentioned in the bracket! Here, ‘these other planets’!
And finally in a scenario where rahu in 9th house with 4th lord venus and 9th lord jupiter while asc Lord moon with ketu at other end! Does this situation qualify for rahu-ketu as yoga karaka?
